What I've found with all fairy tales is that they don't elaborate as much as I would like them to. They are just basically the tales at face value. Where's the emotion? The tension? The evil bad guy in depth? So when I see a book that has taken a fairy tale and spun it into an entire story, I add it to my list without a second thought.
Azalea has danced her entire life. Her mother, the Queen, had prided herself and her family on knowing every dance invented. For the eleven princesses, dancing has just been something they've grown up with and grown to love with all their heart. All named after flowers, the princesses are suddenly confronted with the death of their mother and their tiny new sister, Lily. Their father, the King, stricken with grief, he sends the entire household into a state of mourning. No laughing, no colors, no ventures outside, and especially, no dancing. But when Azalea finds a hidden passage to a magical world beneath the castle, perhaps she won't have to stop dancing after all. But there's one catch: Keeper is not at all what he seems...
I found Entwined to be a lovely book! I couldn't put it down. It was gripping without being tedious-action, it was romantic without being fake, and it was squee-worthy! There was funny characters, touching characters, dresses and dancing! I might go as far as to say that this book has it all.
I can't think of anything particular that I disliked about this book. I wasn't disappointed in anyway. Everything ended well and I was satisfied in every way. It was the perfect rainy-day read (though it was a longer book so it might take you more than a day to get through) that was a fairy tale book come to life! If I had to say one thing that I didn't like, it was just that sometimes the sentences were a little too long and a little too rambly. It was in no way a major problem and it wouldn't distract anyone unless they're major OCD. That nit-picking was the only thing that comes to mind that I didn't care for. And that was stretching it.
I would recommend this book to just about anyone! It would be perfect for almost any romantic-at-heart girl, young or old. It's a feel good book that doesn't let you down. I would say to most definitely at Entwined to your To-Read List!...more
