Those were fun, but love, this love, my love, was quiet and secret and perfect."
WOW! I'm feeling quite giddy right now after reading this book. Sara V. Olds has just won me over with this YA contemporary.
From the first page, I adored Mercedes aka Benz. She's so funny and quirky and snarky. The fact that she made fun of her height just made her more endearing. (from one short person to another) Trouble seems to follow her everywhere.
Can I just say "Swoon-Worthy" doesn't even begin to describe them?
The romance takes a while to build, but when it does, my oh my! It left my heart beating. It took Mercedes one summer to realise the one person who loves her for she was, was the one person she's known all her life. This is a wonderful friends-to-lovers story, one of my favourite tropes.
"You're mine, Mercedes. I've been waiting a long time for you to be ready and now I'm not going to wait any longer. I'm claiming what's mine." ~ Conor's words when he finally decides to tell Benz how he feels about her.
Er...uh..yeah, where was I? Yep. I adored this book, and highly recommend it.

I enjoyed reading Grasping at Eternity. I really loved how the characters interacted with each other, how the author displayed the bond among the Kindrily. And Nathan...what can I say... thank you Ms Hooper for giving us Nathan *sigh* I am very curious, and look forward to reading the second book, to know what really happened to Maryah for her to choose to erase.
This is a wonderful story, and highly recommend it. ...more

I really enjoyed reading Dracian Legacy. Ren is a wonderful, character with a strong voice. It was great experiencing her world through her eyes. As soon as Ren's parents die, life as she knows it changes. First she meets Axel, the new guy in school. Only he's more than 'the new über-sexy guy' he is one a mission, and his mission is Ren. Soon, she is tossed into a world she wasn't aware existed, and she finds out she is more than a high school girl. The action scenes in this story are pretty spectacular. There's romance, gorgeous boys, wonderful friendships.
Can't wait to read the second book in the series. ...more

Caleb has been able to see The Walker's for the longest time and he has kept it secret for a while now. As the story unfolds, we see Caleb discover who he is, and the reason why he can see the Walkers and the Dark Agents--oh these ones sent shivers scattering all over my body. The twist at the end of the story was a pleasant suprise, and I look forward to reading the next book in the Trilogy. I love a good cliffhanger and this one was a good one. ...more

So heartbreaking and real. Loving someone is easy, especially if you've known them like forever. Letting go is hard, and finally when you take a deep breath and exhale, there's that big, bright light at the end of the tunnel.
Like the previous books I've read written by Jolene Perry, this one had me turning the pages, experiencing the MCs conflicts, emotions and her life.
Ronnie and Shawn have been in love for a while now, and to Ronnie, their love is meant to last forever. Lately it seems Shawn has changed, and become more aggressive and possessive of Ronnie. On the other hand, Shawn's life isn't perfect. He works for his bad-tempered father after school. His life at home is not a peaceful one with his parents fighting like every night.
Then there is Luke, Ronnie's bestfriend who loves her, but never showed her his true feelings, that is until both take part in Romeo and Juliet. He is like a knight with some sort radar, always sensing when Ronnie needs to be rescued from very tight spots, and always from Shawn. Luke is also the kind of easy going guy who stops by your house to have a chat your parents, help with stuff. And the parents adore him. I wish I had one of like him. instead of the ones who had a habit of sneaking around in the backyard.
Being Ronnie isn't easy, and the kind of situation she finds herself in is quite a strain, and I guess emotionally confusing. It was great to see Ronnie finally stop defending Shawn after realising her love for him will never surpass his need to be possessive and his aggressiveness. I highly recommend this book, and in the process, checkout other books by Ms Perry. ...more

Charlotte is a normal teenage girl, or so she thinks until things start happening, spurning the story forward sailing the reader through the world of Energo, a world completely different than our own, where Charlotte discovers things about her, and the nature of who and her brother are.
Kevin, first enters energo in seearch of his sister, accompanied by his uncle Monty and his best friend, Liam. - Liam's loyalty is astounding. Makes me wish I'd have a friend like him. Kevin also discovers who he is, and the power within him. I really enjoyed reading this story from the first sentence "We were flying over Canada when the panic set in. to the last sentence "Don't worry Charlotte. No matter what everyone else sees, you will always have the afterglow." The story is suspense and romance, a wonderful combination, and enjoyed the how the descriptions were done.
Alyssa Rose Ivy did a wonderful job with Energo's worldbuilding, as well as portraying each character's traits. This is the first book in beginning a wonderful series, and I am looking forward to continue Perilous light where Beckoning Light left off. ...more

I really enjoyed reading N Night Sky's in my list of books to read for the Multicultural Challenge hosted by KM @ www.one-page-reviews.blogspot.com . I really enjoyed reading Night Sky. It was a wonderful story, written in first POV, Jameson's, typical teen, hormones and all. Jolene did an excellent job writing in a boy's POV.
Jameson (Jay) has been in love with his best friend, Sarah, for a while now. Problem is, he's never had the courage to tell her how he feels. Then during the school dance, Sarah hooks up with Eric. Later on Jay meets Sky, a freshman at a local college. who moved from Alaska to live with her grandparents. Although he is still inlove with Sarah, he realises Sky and Sarah are completely different. As the story progresses, Jay deals with his feelings between the two girls, but that is not the only thing he is dealing with. Things are happening at home as well. Sky has secrets up her sleeve as well. Jay handled himself well in the course of what was happening around him. It's a rollercoaster of emotions for ths teen. And very real.
If you are looking for a well-written Young Adult book from a guy's POV (and hilarious too), I'd highly recommend Night Sky. I'm really looking forward to read Jolene B.Perry's other books. ...more

Eventually she finds out from the principal that she is a sorceress. She also finds out the principal isn’t who people think he is. And that there are two factions who are vying to recruit her to join their ranks, and pursue her relentlessly. Around each other’s constant company, she discovers something about Hayden that completely changes his life. As her eighteenth birthday approaches, she knows she has to choose one group.
