I couldn't wait to get to the end to see how it would unravel. Lutishia put together a very well written novel. I especially like how she let the reader into the Livingston Family. She let you know who was who without confusing you (this family is HUGE). No matter what, they were sure to stick together. I enjoyed the book so much I was ready to fly to ATL to Taste of Soul that food sounded delicious!!! Bianca and Jeff started "Mind Your Own Business" with a sibling rivalry of wanting to manage the TOS LA location and from there it goes into their uncle being shot by a man his wife was having an affair with. Who knew that this man would be pulling the strings on most of the rest of the drama throughout the book. I believe Jefferson will never be able to trust so easily again, Chardonnay is not letting things end they way they have, I'm sure Shyla is plotting some sort of revenge of her own, does Cooper really believe that Keisha will be true to him? He doesn't know what he's getting or has gotten himself into with her. Congratulations to Toussaint and Alexis on their new bundle of joy, hopefully their lives will be turmoil free. I'm pretty sad to finally be finished reading this book, you never want a good thing to end. I will certainly be looking at what other works Lutishia has because I'm a new fan.

While this story reached the silver lining at the end for Ms. Porsche she did go through many trials. This story definitely brings the drama and encompasses trust issues, a little mental instability, and determination. Porsche was determined to make it back to her family. Even in her youth she stood to learn a lot but she fought a good fight. In the end, she reached a life of her own and set herself apart from Winter. Of course, some of the things in the story I doubt 1 person could manage on their own but it didn't take away from the story. I love Sister Souljah as a writer. When reading her novels I feel like I'm watching a movie in my mind. I can picture her words vividly. I would recommend this novel to everyone. It's a great read and holds your attention. I believe there may be another novel in this series. If there is, my book club (Exquisite Ladies Book Club) will be reading it.(less)

I would love for Noire to come out of her element. Every title had some behind the scenes stuff going on in the club and some kingpin doing the unimaginable.
Overall the book was good wish it had a different outcome but I'm not the author.(less)

Seems that this wasn't edited at all, there are misspelled words, duplicated words, and in my opinion this is an essay on the authors opinion in working a relationship. I got a headache halfway into chapter one. I will not continue reading this, nor will I recommend it, and I'll be removing it from my kindle. The author needs to improve their craft and spend the money to have their work proofread and edited.(less)

No matter what they all dealt with, they remained true to their friendship. I, for one, always said that friends are just like sisters. You love each other no matter how many arguments or fights you have. You will have each others backs, keep each others secrets, and tell each other how it is no matter what. Gabby was so conniving you couldn't do anything but shake your head as you read. I was glad when Maxine got a back bone and stood up to her husband. Joy's only issue was that she couldn't stand up to her own mother and live her life the way she wanted to. This story helps you realize that you shouldn't risk your own happiness for that of others but that it's ok to assert yourself and speak the truth when need be.
I read this when it came out in August and also gifted copies to my 2 girlfriends. I can't wait to read part 2 and see what drama these girls get mixed into this time.(less)

That Eric, he just had to keep going against his conscience every time. But that's what we as humans do in reality. I appreciate that A'ndrea brought some reality to the story. Everything that happened in this story I could see happening in this real world. That "Jay" was the devil herself. Amber kept it real as always. I like how she kept her comments to herself on some "if you don't have anything nice to say..." but sometimes people need to hear the truth minus the sugar coating. What I appreciate most about Wife 101, Husband 101, and (coming soon) Couples 101, is that although they are stories of fiction you actually get some counseling through them. Things that you should apply in real life. The same things that gets them motivated and thinking in the story are things that we can take away for ourselves. I can't wait until my book club, Exquisite Ladies Book Club, discusses this next month. (less)

My interest came because I always wanted to know if long-distance relationships could actually work and wanted to know how Erica and Warren would end up. From the beginning of the book I thought they had the cutest relationship and was glad when it started getting into their personal lives and introduced the drama, who doesn't like good drama lol. Erica is a very successful publicist who lives in NY and Warren is in the IT Field and is a very passionate trumpet player from DC. These 2 had a weekend love affair and never missed a weekend spending time with each other, alternating homes. That is until their individual lives become more demanding. Sadeqa took us through their trials, upsets and let downs, and introduced us to their childhood history. You get so consumed and take on Erica's emotions through the book and begin to despise her mother as much as she does and can't help but love her neighbor/best friend Tess. At times, I wanted to knock both Warren and Erica upside their heads and yell "COMMUNICATE" if only they had done that sooner then they could've avoided so much. I loved the ending and hated it at the same time lol. I hated that it had to end but it was a great way to end it. Maybe book 2 will start with Erica being pregnant O_o. All in all this was a GREAT read! Thank you for asking Exquisite Ladies Book Club to review this for you. I definitely see this as a book of the month in the coming months. I gave this a 4 star rating because I had the unedited copy, so hopefully the necessary edits were made.

This novel touched close to home for me because I am a biracial female (african american/hispanic) so I can relate to many things discussed. Skin Deep definitely keeps readers engrossed throughout the story, it keeps you wondering what happened and why things are the way they are. You find everything out by the end of the story but it's definitely not what you may expect but all in all it puts things into perspective for you. I recommend this novel 10 times over and will mention it to my Exquisite Ladies Book Club members to go on our BOTM reading list for this year. I will absolutely be looking forward to reading more novels by Kathleen Cross.(less)

Who knew one chapter in the bible could tell you and teach you so much about being a WOMAN. In Wife 101 we read about Amber Ross, a very successful business woman. She ends up taking a workshop in her church (wife 101) after a suffering a heartbreak from her beau Chris. She begins realizing some changes that she needs to make within herself during this 12 week course. In the midst of it, she begins dating 2 new men and the confusion just continues. You get to witness Amber make mistakes, grow, learn, cry, and even yell.
Reading this book but me in a better frame of mind and helped me realize some things that need changing in my own life. I would recommend this book 20 times over. If there is a Husband 101 out there, I know a few men that can benefit from it. A'ndrea will change many lives with this novel. I thank her so much for emailing me and asking if my book club (Exquisite Ladies Book Club) would read it. This is our 1st selection for 2012 and what better way to start the year then learning to become Virtous Women?
After reading Wife 101, I am looking into other novels by A'ndra Wilson. If you haven't read this book then what are you waiting for? Get a copy for yourself and a friend.(less)

Outside of that I would not have chosen this novel after glancing at the cover. Whether by my own free will to read or a little boost from a contest I am glad that I did read it. I enjoyed the drama and the "art of deceit" involved in the story. Tangie is one h*^l of a firecracker. She schemed her way into Tay'Von's world and goes from video vixen to Rap star wife! Even when I started to think she would actually be a normal wife and love Tay for the man that he is and not his money, she popped out with yet another scheme. There was definitely a lot of sex, too much if you ask me. This story did allow me to imagine what life is like in the world of rap stars and video vixens. There were some errors but nothing that took away from the story. I would definitely read another novel by Fabiola and recommend this one to others. What I took from this story is, "be careful who you befriend, everyone is NOT to be trusted"(less)

It took awhile for the plot to thicken and I got kind of bored with the bank robbing after the first couple of chapters. This novel was written very well and only held a minimal amount of typos. I would recommend this book to others. Overall, I gave this book 3 stars.
I believe that Dmytryk used his vows as an excuse to getting involved with Eddie Coyle. He was a man of his own choice and could've easily told his wife to leave and he would try fixing his problems on his own. Cora had to be insane to enjoy that sort of lifestyle. I expected everyone to be killed off or atleast some arrests. I didn't expect them to continue getting away with robbery after robbery. None of them had any morals or values but that's why this is fiction.(less)

This story definitely took you through some emotions but it keeps you the entire way through the story. I would make predictions and continue to see if my predictions were on point or not. I would definitely recommend this to my book club members and anyone else. I LOVED it 100 times over and am ecstatic to have an autographed copy. Shakara, please continue perfecting your craft as I am now a loyal reader!(less)

Once I saw how thick it was I knew I would be reading for days to come. I finally completed reading earlier this afternoon and I wanted more. Sister Souljah left us with a cliffhanger from Midnight. I'm not sure if I'd be able to be a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd wife to anyone or agree to them having others after me but I do understand the reasoning and see how it works for them. In reading this novel I learned more about the Muslim religion as well as the Sudanese, Japenese, and Korean cultures. It was almost as I was right there beside Midnight through his travels. Midnight was indeed a whole man that was very loving, caring, smart, protective, and fun at the same time. My favorite quote from Midnight was "If you want to find out your true feeling for a girl, just ask yourself, What am I willing to do for her? Would I fight for her? Would I work hard for her? Would I kill for her? Would I marry her?" Ricky Santiaga was mentioned in this as well, so does this mean there is a 3rd book out that leads into The Coldest Winter Ever? I hated that this book was a long read but at the end I hated that it was over. That adventure was so "freaking cool" man!(less)
