How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo is MINDBLOWING. It’s exciting, romantic, deep, funny, serious, interesting, frustrating, entertaining and completely rock and roll. It’s a book worth reading.
I wanted to speed read through this book, not because it wasn’t good but because I needed to see what was gong to happen next. I had to see how it ended. It’s overwhelming and really hard to put down.
FAVORITE QUOTES: "Do not get on that train."
"Eliza has the sky in her eyes and I've always wanted to touch the goddamn sky."
"Fate is the magnetic pull of our souls toward people, places, and things we belong with."
The main characters, Eliza and Paul, have struggled with hard times in their pasts. They are both trying to get by and make a name for themselves, Paul as a respected musician and Eliza as a music journalist. They are wonderful, ORIGINAL characters. You will fall in love with them.
The cover and title made me think it was going to be a really young young adult book, but it’s not. It’s actually somewhere between older young adult and younger adult. It’s in, what I like to call, the in between.
I gave How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo 4 STARS. I recommend this novel to “mature” young adults looking for a great rock star romance. This is a story you MUST read and discover for yourself.
Pamela Clare gets me. She understands what I am looking for in an adult romance novel, and she delivers every single time. From historical romance to romantic suspense, Pamela Clare hasn’t let me down yet!
A few weeks ago, I read and devoured one of Pamela Clare’s historical romance series, The Blackwell/Kenleigh Family trilogy. Last night, I discovered and fell in love with a completely different side of Pamela Clare with the first novel in her romantic suspense series.
Extreme Exposure, the first novel in the I-Team series, was absolutely fabulous. It was sexy, hilarious, entertaining, and intense-almost everything I look for in an adult romance novel.
Extreme Exposure is about Senator Reece Sheridan and Kara MacMillan. Reece is a good man who wants to make a difference. Kara is an investigative journalist who uncovers a story that puts her and her son in danger. My one and only minor complaint about this novel is that the hero was a little too perfect; his character didn't seem entirely genuine. However, I ended up with only one minor complaint and a ton of compliments for this novel; the good definitely outweighs the bad in this case.
Overall, this novel is remarkable. The characters and the plot are entertaining and sexy as sin! I expected this novel to be romantic and suspenseful; I mean it IS a romantic suspense novel. I did not, however, expect this novel to be so freakin’ funny or sexy. Reece and Kara’s first encounter was PRICELESS. Their second face-to-face was even better! I would have read this novel for those two hilarious scenes alone!
I gave Extreme Exposure by Pamela Clare 4 STARS. I strongly recommend this novel. I can’t wait to get started on the next novel in the I-Team series, Hard Evidence. I really hope Kara and Reece make an appearance :)
MY REVIEW FOR LOVER UNBOUND: Lover Unbound, the fifth book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood, caused me to take a hiatus from this series. One day, I may decide to pick up this series again, but I am done with the BDB for now.
It’s hard for me to explain why exactly Lover Unbound bothered me so much, especially without giving away the conclusion. I was really excited about reading this novel, but after the first few pages I had no desire to finish this story. I wanted to skim through the entire book to get to the end, and then I was very disappointed with the ending.
The multiple viewpoints gave me a headache. It switches back and forth too many times, between too many people. It’s extremely hard to get invested into the characters, their emotions, and the story because as soon as you start to connect with the characters, it changes to someone else. The bromance between Butch and Vichious bothered me. I don’t have a problem with boys liking boys. The relationship between Butch and Vichious just felt awkward and forced.
Taking Chase by Lauren Dane was a good story. I received this story through Lendle, and in my opinion, it was a great "free" book. I enjoyed the first book in this companion series, Giving Chase, slightly more, but I was was really glad to see all four of the sexy Chase brothers again. And I really enjoyed watching Shane Chase get his happily ever after.
In my opinion, Shane was a completely different guy than he was in the first book in this series. I was glad to see a softer, sweeter side of him, but I felt like he changed a little too much a little too fast.
I gave Taking Chase by Lauren Dane 3 STARS. I enjoyed this novel, and I am interested in checking out the other books in the companion series in the future.
Giving Chase by Lauren Dane was really good. It’s entertaining, action-packed, and easy to read. This novel introduces readers to all four of the sexy Chase brothers: Shane, Kyle, Marc and Matt. It has lots of romance, some jealousy, some sibling rivalry, a crazy panty-stealing stalker, a girl who won’t give up (even though she really should), a sweet momma, a horrible mother, and a whole lot more.
I gave Giving Chase by Lauren Dane 3 STARS (3.5 STARS). I really enjoyed this novel, and I look forward to reading the other three novels in this companion series.
Hard Evidence, the second novel in the I-Team companion series, was another smashing hit by Pamela Clare. This romantic suspense novel was nothing short of sensational!
Hard Evidence was the fifth novel that I’ve read by Pamela Clare, and every single one of her novels have received a rating of 4 STARS or greater from me. That’s impressive. In my opinion, it shows that 1) I really, really like Pamela Clare’s style 2) She is consistently fabulous (which isn’t as easy as it sounds). Most authors write at least one dud, but I haven’t found one by Pamela Clare yet. Honestly, I'm running out of ways to compliment Ms. Clare.
I have zero complaints about Hard Evidence. It’s sexy, sinful, suspenseful, and sweet! Julian and Tessa’s chemistry was off the charts smokin’ hot! My one and only complaint about Extreme Exposure, the first novel in the I-Team companion series, was that the hero was a little too perfect, which came across as unrealistic. Well, there's definitely no way anyone could make that same complaint against Hard Evidence. Julian, the hero in Hard Evidence, was far from perfect. Oh, he’s sexy and charming. He was extremely sweet at times, but he was also a jerk at times, too. Julian had a dark side, and he had his flaws. In my opinion, his imperfections made him rugged and realistic.
Tessa was a strong heroine. She didn’t make me laugh as much as Cara from Extreme Exposure did, but she kept me entertained, nonetheless. She’s independent, confident, and brave, sometimes a little too brave for her own good.
I gave Hard Evidence by Pamela Clare 4 STARS. This action-packed suspense novel will have you frantically flipping the pages (or swiping your finger, in my case). I STRONGLY RECOMMEND this novel, as well as anything else Pamela Clare has written.
Honestly, I was interested in the I-Team series by Pamela Clare, but it is a longer, more expensive series. I hadn’t read anything by Pamela Clare yet so I decided to start with the shorter, less expensive series -The Kenleigh/Blackwell series. I am so glad I decided to start out my Pamela Clare experience with this series. So far it has been a breathtaking journey (I am about to start the third book in the series), and I am obsessed. I will not hesitate to buy a Pamela Clare novel from this point on.
If you enjoy historical romance novels at all, I mean even the smallest interest in this genre, then this is a must read.
My historical romance experience is very limited. However, I found a few similarities between Sweet Release, the first book in The Kenleigh/Blackwell series, and the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, one of my all-time favorite series. For people who read a ton of historical romance, you may find these novels as different as night and day. However, I am giving Sweet Release one of the greatest compliments I can think of by saying that it reminded me of the Outlander series.
The romance and passion between Alec and Cassie is sweet and exciting, the suspense is heart stopping, and the drama is never ending. Every single character is well developed, even the supporting characters. I feel like I made some friends reading this novel.
I was so addicted to this book, I stayed up until 5 in the morning because I couldn’t imagine going to bed without finishing this story. I told my boyfriend about the premise of the book, even read a few chapters aloud to him, and even he got interested in this book. (That’s a huge deal because we have crazy different taste in books, television, etc.)
I gave Sweet Release by Pamela Clare 4 STARS (4.5 STARS). If you enjoy historical romance then I recommend that you purchase this book RIGHT NOW. It’s that good. And just to let you know, I have already finished the next book in the series Carnal Gift, the story about Jamie Blackwell, Cassie’s younger brother and it’s just as good as the first book in the series. I am about to begin the third novel, Ride the Fire, just as soon as I get it in the mail. Unfortunately, the third book in the series isn’t available as an e-book right now, but I wanted to read it immediately so I ordered a used copy off Amazon with expedited shipping. I never pay for expedited shipping, so that just goes to show how much I love these books. -XOXO
