I want to start off this review by thanking Tammara Webber for writing such a beautiful series. Between the Lines was one of the first books I reviewed on Reading, Eating & Dreaming. This series and this author will always hold a special place in my heart. <3
There are some authors who just have IT. We can call it the X Factor, if you will, and Tammara Webber definitely has it. Ms. Webber is an extremely talented author. Her novels read more like movies than books. Through her words, Ms. Webber is able to make her stories come to life before my eyes. That's a very unique and rare skill. It's what separates good authors from great authors, in my opinion.
It's been a long time since I sat down and was utterly CONSUMED by a story. Don't get me wrong, I've read a handful of really good books lately. It's just been a long time since I sat down and read a book cover to cover in one sitting. For some reason, I could not put Here Without You down. The strange and crazy thing is that this novel wasn't a nail-biting, page turner. It was, however, a phenomenally written, eloquent story that captured my attention and flowed extremely well.
Before I started writing my review for Here Without You, I went back and read my review for Between the Lines to reminisce about how this series began. In my review for Between the Lines, I said, "Frankly, I loved to hate Reid (maybe that’s Webber’s goal). He is a spoiled, selfish slut (look at that use of alliteration) who doesn’t care about ANYONE but himself. Reid, (yes, I am talking to you, Reid) I hope a life-altering bomb is headed your way, and until you learn how to feel remorse and respect others I will continue to love to hate you!!"
I first started to fall for Reid in Good For You, the third installment in the Between the Lines series that was dedicated to Reid and Dori. He was still very Reid-like in Good For You, but he started to clean up his act and care about people other than himself. However, I must admit that I didn't completely surrender and fall for his character until Here Without You. A life-altering bomb definitely headed his way in Here Without You and I LOVE the way he handled himself and the situation. His actions and reactions were, again, still very Reid-like which is what made this novel perfect. If he would have pulled a complete 180 on page 2 then this story would not have been very believable. The mature and respectful way he dealt with the surprising news from Brooke definitely won me over.
I must admit that Brooke also won me over in Here Without You After earning a spot on my shit list in Where You Are, Brooke definitely redeemed herself in this book. In fact, I started to like Brooke so much in this novel that I wish Ms. Webber had plans to write a romantic happily ever after for Brooke. That said, I definitely think that Here Without You left Brooke in a positive place.
If you haven't started the Between the Lines series then you MUST start with book one. The characters in this series are the types of characters that materialize and become your friends. I know that sounds kind of corny but once you read this series you will really start to care about and root for the characters in this series.
I gave Here Without You (Between the Lines #4) by Tammara Webber 4 STARS (4.5 STARS). This story and this series is a MUST READ!
Honestly, I was interested in the I-Team series by Pamela Clare, but it is a longer, more expensive series. I hadn’t read anything by Pamela Clare yet so I decided to start with the shorter, less expensive series -The Kenleigh/Blackwell series. I am so glad I decided to start out my Pamela Clare experience with this series. So far it has been a breathtaking journey (I am about to start the third book in the series), and I am obsessed. I will not hesitate to buy a Pamela Clare novel from this point on.
If you enjoy historical romance novels at all, I mean even the smallest interest in this genre, then this is a must read.
My historical romance experience is very limited. However, I found a few similarities between Sweet Release, the first book in The Kenleigh/Blackwell series, and the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, one of my all-time favorite series. For people who read a ton of historical romance, you may find these novels as different as night and day. However, I am giving Sweet Release one of the greatest compliments I can think of by saying that it reminded me of the Outlander series.
The romance and passion between Alec and Cassie is sweet and exciting, the suspense is heart stopping, and the drama is never ending. Every single character is well developed, even the supporting characters. I feel like I made some friends reading this novel.
I was so addicted to this book, I stayed up until 5 in the morning because I couldn’t imagine going to bed without finishing this story. I told my boyfriend about the premise of the book, even read a few chapters aloud to him, and even he got interested in this book. (That’s a huge deal because we have crazy different taste in books, television, etc.)
I gave Sweet Release by Pamela Clare 4 STARS (4.5 STARS). If you enjoy historical romance then I recommend that you purchase this book RIGHT NOW. It’s that good. And just to let you know, I have already finished the next book in the series Carnal Gift, the story about Jamie Blackwell, Cassie’s younger brother and it’s just as good as the first book in the series. I am about to begin the third novel, Ride the Fire, just as soon as I get it in the mail. Unfortunately, the third book in the series isn’t available as an e-book right now, but I wanted to read it immediately so I ordered a used copy off Amazon with expedited shipping. I never pay for expedited shipping, so that just goes to show how much I love these books. -XOXO
Lost to You is the prequel to Take This Regret by A.L. Jackson.
The best way to sum up this novella is short, sweet perfection. Lost to You is the type of story that makes you want to snuggle up with a big cup of hot coco and a warm fleece blanket. It's an adorable love story that warms your heart.
If you haven't had the chance to read Lost to You or Take This Regret then I strongly recommend that fix that right now starting with Lost to You. If you're like me and you've already ready Take This Regret and this is your first time reading Lost to You, get ready to re-read Take This Regret. I honestly don't see how anyone could read this prequel without reading the entire story immediately after.
I gave Lost to You (Take This Regret #0.5) by A.L. Jackson 4 STARS (4.5 STARS). I STRONGLY recommend Lost to You and Take This Regret.
PS: I'm logging off now so I can go re-read Take This Regret! :)
PERFECT Just to warn you, I use the word PERFECT a lot in my review for this title. Truthfully, PERFECT is the best word to describe this novel and this series.
Avow was the perfect conclusion to The Archers of Avalon series by Chelsea Fine. Ms. Fine wrote a brilliant ending that touched on all of my emotions and left me extremely satisfied. I wouldn't change a single thing about this novel. Every page was filled with non-stop action, drama, and romance.
Told in past and present tense, readers will uncover the new challenges that Scarlet, Tristan, Gabriel, and Nate face as well as discover the ways they have failed in their past lives.
PRESENT: Avow picks up right where Awry left off and sets the stage for the big challenges to come. Scarlet, Tristan and Nate must save Heather and Gabriel, find the Fountain of Youth, and defeat the evil witch Raven. Easy Peasy! NOT! You see, Raven has a pack of Ashmen that are ready to attack on her command, Team Awesome must travel through some crazy, dangerous obstacles before they even reach the Fountain of Youth, and on top of all of that, there's a HUGE catch to uncovering the Fountain of Youth.
PAST: Reading about Scarlet's past lives wasn't always easy. If you have read Anew and Awry then you know that none of Scarlet's past lives have a happily ever after ending. But reading about Scarlet's past lives were necessary because the more you learn about the past the more you understand the characters and their choices. If your like me and you loved Tristan prior to Avow, your heart will melt in this novel and you will love him even more.
The Archers of Avalon is the perfect series for young adults who enjoy paranormal romance novels. The best way for me to sum up The Archers of Avalon series is to repeat what I said in my review for Awry: "The Archers of Avalon by Chelsea Fine is one of my favorite paranormal romance series right now. It's a captivating series about immortality, curses, magic, and love that features original, three-dimensional characters. The three main characters, Tristan, Gabriel, and Scarlet, are extremely likable and entertaining characters. Nate and Heather, two of the supporting characters, are also extremely likable characters. Their quirky personalities add a lot of humor and entertainment value to this series. This series wouldn't be the same without them. To sum things up: I am obsessed with The Archers of Avalon! It is on my MUST READ list, which means that I STRONGLY recommend this series!!"
I gave Avow (The Archers of Avalon #3) by Chelsea Fine 4 STARS (4.5 STARS). I just want to point out that I rated every single novel in The Archers of Avalon trilogy 4 STARS (4.5 STARS). Typically when I review a series there's always one book that wasn't as good as the others, but every single novel in this series was AMAZING! This series is officially complete. Stop what you're doing right now and buy all three novels in this series. You won't regret it! I've even made things easy for! Simply click on the images below to purchase on Amazon! :)
