I found that even though this was a book that was written later in the sires I was still able to follow and only found one or two parts that referenced other books in the series but that did not confuse me or throw of the current story that we were on.
I have to say that I wish that I had a book store like Death on Demand near where I live, I would probably have way to much fun inside of one and even though I don't drink coffee I would have to see all of the mugs that have lines to all of these great mystery books. I can honestly tell you that I wish I could own my own mug like that.... Now where do you suppose that I could find one?
I found that all of the characters in this book were all well developed and while I know that some of the characters that we see in the book have been developed over many books I can also see that the characters that were made for this book alone were also well developed and while they were not as complete as say Annie they were still more developed than some of the main characters that I have seen in some stand alone books, you know the kind that I'm talking about the ones that just seem two dimensional and that have no personality. I am very happy to say that, that didn't happen.
The plot in this book is one of those that lead you down one path, then decide that you need to go another way because well you can and then just because it's still early in the day lets throw this in as well and see what happens. Now luckily all of these put together did manage to make quite the nice story. I love it and hope that all of the books on this series are written like that as I would love to see that again and see if the out come is the same.
Over all this book is a great read and I recommend it mystery fans that enjoy a great story....more
This just solidifies my thoughts that bedtimes are good and staying up late is over rated.

Let me be clear the book is not bad, but it's also not good either. It's placement falls straight into the okay departments.
I felt like the plot dragged on and I personally didn't like the use of some of the characters. That is not to say that they were two dimensional characters it's just that they reminded me of some of the characters in 'party games'.
Name drops used in this book from party games Rachel, Kerry, and Robert that I saw.
If you like a bit of gore with a few hallucinations mixed in then this is the book for you....more

This books plot throws you for several traps that trip you up almost every time you think you've figured something out. So much so that at point I was not only rolling my eyes but also trying not bang my head against the nearest surface. It was a tough battle at times. Don't get me wrong I adore plot twists and look for them at every turn but usually there are only one or two if you know what I mean... By the end I was horrified at my own thought that plot twists CAN be over used. I'm slightly traumatized by this.
The characters in this were fine but only some of them were developed deeper others were just names that were thrown in and some times said something. I felt bad for those characters.
Well that's all I can say about this book at this time without spoilers if you want to know more feel free to ask me.
This book is good for those looking for a good quick fright with an easy read and it will keep your attention for every page....more
Hiss and Hers by M.C. Beaton had a plot line that drew me in but its characters made me rethink the story a few times. Based on the plot alone I wouldHiss and Hers by M.C. Beaton had a plot line that drew me in but its characters made me rethink the story a few times. Based on the plot alone I would have given this story a 4 star rating out of 5 based on the fact that I was able to guess who the killer was quite early on in the story. I was willing to over look that part because I liked the way that the crimes were done and how they were thought out.
The only flaw that I found with the book is that I found it extremely hard to like any of the characters. Don't get me wrong I tried, but it seemed that every time I gave the character a chance they did something that riled me up like no ones business. In the end the only character that I really seemed to be alright with was Toni and even then I found myself questioning part of what she had done throughout the novel.
let me make this clear to you I am not saying that I did not like the book, I just am one of those readers that needs to like some part of the main character to enjoy the book that I am reading. So what this means is that if you don't mind not liking the main character then this book is one for you, because remember that I said that I like the plot line of the book a lot and read the book alone for that I just needed to get over the characters and not roll my eyes every other page.
As far as mystery's go its entertaining if not predictable and the characters in the book are not your cookie cutter characters nor are any of them perfect, so if this is what you are looking for then this is the book for you....more

By: Sarah J. Maas
Let me start this review by saying that this is not a bad book. It is well written and the characters are all well developed. The low star rating is based on MY opinion of the book, and MY feelings after finishing the book. In a few months I may find myself rethinking the rating for the better or I may just leave it at the 2 star rating that I have currently given the book. Only time will tell. So keeping all of this in mind here is my review on the book:
The Synopsis on the back of the book is eye catching to say the least. When I was in the book store looking for some new books for an upcoming trip I found myself randomly picking up books and reading back to see if any would catch my attention, when I got to this one I found myself intrigued with the story already and I hadn’t even turned the first page. So I applaud the author on that genius synopsis it must catch the eye of quite a few people.
Now onto the plot, which if I based the review on the plot (and writing alone) I would give this book either 4 ½ or 5 stars. I like the idea of an assassin fighting in a competition to win her freedom especially with the world that the author created. I mean that magic is used but not used, something like runes but not being used, a corrupt power hungry king, rebellions, escapes, mystery, and intrigue all mixed together just spell the creation of an amazing books that will hook its claws into you and not let go until you know the outcome of the story. Stories with combinations like that or similar always seem like so much fun!
Now here is the reason that I almost DNF’d this book the main character- Celaena Sardothien. The character is very well developed, don’t get me wrong on that. Her backstory is well done and we have been given a taste of some of it already, and I know that since there are three other books already completed and out that even more of it will come out. Also she does have compassion towards several characters, and a sense of honor that is admirable. But her fatal flaw in my personal opinion is her EGO and yes I used capital letters on purpose. Here is what I mean, by page 40 we have it drilled into our heads that she is pretty and amazing… so basically she is like the perfect character ever. I can handle amazing characters what I can’t handle is having it drilled into my head over and over. The other problem that I found is that I did not really see any of her redeemable characteristics until after 200 or more pages. I was ready to stop at 40 pages so I might have never known any of that. I feel that at this point in time it is too late for me to get into the book as it was essentially halfway complete and I felt my attention drifting away at points that were most likely important to the story…
Yeah… lets just leave that as that, also let’s not get me started on the love triangle.
All in all this is a well written book and I say to give it a try if you don’t mind characters like that. For me it seems to be a deal breaker but I know that’s not the case for everyone so I say give it a shot if this sounds like something you might enjoy just don’t read it if you can’t stand having something drilled into your head or characters that have huge ego’s. ...more

Let me start by saying that I had never heard of Zoella before picking up this book, I might check her youtube channel out later.... If i ever figure out how to do that.
This book is to me an average girl meets boy falls in love has some drama and then everything ends happy at the end of the book with a splash of the online world and the perils of what could go wrong in said online world. So with that in mind it is not a bad book, its just not something that I personally enjoy. I know that one of my friends is going to love this book however so use that as a reference that everyone reads books differently and that while one person (Me) might not like the book, another (My Friend) will love the book.
I recommend this book to a younger teen demographic as they most likely will find enjoyment from the story. Also this book is great for anyone who loves this kind of story as it does exactly what you expect like all the other books like this one but with a flare that makes it, its own story....more
I personally love Becky as a character but in this book I just couldn't find her... I felt like I ran into a clone of her untilShopaholic to the Stars
I personally love Becky as a character but in this book I just couldn't find her... I felt like I ran into a clone of her until the end of the book when the real Becky decided to come out of hiding. Maybe she got on the wrong flight? Who knows I'm just glad that she is back.
I am going to be honest and say that I would have given this book a better star rating if the characters were made for this book alone instead of using ones that I have an image of and feelings on how the characters should be. Please don't get me wrong these are Sophie Kinsella's characters and I am forever grateful that she created them and I think that she was a genius for doing so.... But after 5 books getting to see the characters grow I feel like some of them took a step back in their growth. Please keep in mind that this is my opinion, It doesn't have robe yours.
The writing style in this book as in her other ones is written in Becky's point of view, if your like me then you have a specific voice you hear reading the story to you and it was refreshing to hear an old favourite again. This book in writing style does not disappoint it is exactly like the other books so you can look foreword to that. You can just sit down and fall right into the story where it left off in Baby and feel like you haven't missed a beat which I think is impressive considering the time between the books it just goes to show you that the writer has a well developed style that works.
If your a fan of the writer and don't mind a slightly different Becky at first you will love this book. Everything that you loved in shopaholic is here it's just hidden in some parts but you can definitely find it. If your a set in your ways person like me just keep in mind that this book is just another adventure for Becky that will be continued and seems to be back with what we love!
