REViEW: This is not your average vampire book. Forget those typical vampire romance love triangles, this book rejuvenates the idea of the vampire. This book doesn't center around a romance, which was a breath of fresh air. Instead, this book is an action-packed, roller-coaster ride. It had a pretty fast pace once it got past the first few chapters. I really liked reading this book. It was super intriguing and the action kept me excited to continue reading.
The characters in Glass Houses were super great! Claire was tough and easily relatable. She was really realistic and a great protagonist. My favorite character would have to be Eve, her gothic best friend. Eve is one of the most vivid best friends I have read about. I really am excited to get to know more about Eve and even Claire. The two guys Michael and Shane were equally amazing. I don't know if I could live in a house with them, I'd be too busy drooling over them. I really enjoyed every character in this book actually. Even the bad vamps were written very well.
The ending was shocking! I did not expect that. If you read this book, make sure to have the sequel nearby. This cliffhanger is a big one. I'm ready to read the next book! I'm actually wondering why I waited so long to start the sequel. Writing this review has excited me even more to continue through this series.
My Favorite Part: The jaw-dropping ending.
ALL iN ALL: Do I recommend this book? Yes, it's a new, exciting take on the vampire. Will I be reading the next book? Yes, I think I'm going to start it next!...more

REViEW: Oh my goodness. This book is one everyone should read. Not because it holds a deep life-shaking message, but rather because of how much it made me laugh and smile. The plot wasn't deep, but it's meant to be that way! This is a book based solely on character and crazy situations and things. Like a tampon factory. And 19 girls named Katherine. Deep stuff right? Everything about this story was perfect. It was kind of outlandish, but while reading it, it seemed realistic. The one thing that made this book go a little slow for me was all the math and historical references that Colin makes. It is really unique and cool that there are footnotes and an appendix at end of book, but I felt like after awhile it was just meaningless history allusions, which bored me a little. I wanted to speed right through to Colin and Lindsey's relationship.
John Green's characters are so amazing. Each of them has a distinct personality. Colin was the heartbroken braniac. Hassan, his best friend, was a goofball and freaking hilarious. His dialogue often had me cracking up during study hall. Lindsey was intriguing. I wanted to understand her relationship with the other Colin, and with our Colin. Every other secondary character was also memorable. My favorite scenes were watching how each of these personalities got along.
The ending was spot on perfect. I was so pleased! Ahh it was so cute! At first I was like oh my gosh, John Green did not just trick us! But then at very end, I was like awww just the way things should be. To understand what I mean please go buy this book right this minute! It's awesome sauce. This book had everything from appendixes, to footnotes, to romance and to humor.
My Favorite Part: All the humor and the nerd references hehe!...more

REViEW: This is a great series! It's one of those series that will appeal to vampire haters as well as Twilight fans! The action in this book kept me on the edge of my seat. There were some surprising twists and turns throughout the book that were super interesting. I started to feel like I was a part of Morganville, instead of just a bystander. I wasn't bored for a minute. I typically stop halfway through a series in order to catch up with some other series on my shelves, but this series I cannot put down.
The characters were as good as in the first book. Claire was strong and determined, which I love in female protagonists. Eve was as good of a friend as she was previously. I really like Eve, she's a pretty rocking goth! Michael is the ultimate boyfriend and friend. He really adds that feeling of protection to the rest of the Glass House roomies. Shane...he is surrounded by, excuse me, he is the problem in this book. I still love him dearly, but he really needs to get away from his dad. I think it's better to stay out of the vampires' way.
The ending makes me want to zoom right into the 3rd book! I really want to see what will happen next with Michael, Shane, Claire, and Eve. If I know Morganville, I know that there will be much more drama to come in the next books.
My Favorite Part: The whole drama surrounding how they were going to help Shane.
ALL iN ALL: Do I recommend this book? Yes, this is a really unique vampire series. Will I be reading the next book? Heck yeah. I'm glad I already have it! ...more
REViEW: This book... Oh my was it a crazy ride. The plot with the rehab clinic and the suicide attempts really opened my eyes. So many people think of suicide it's not even funny. I feel like at one point or another in all of our lives, we want to die. I really think this book should be read by everyone, but especially those with suicidal thoughts because it shows that you are not alone. Someone is thinking just like you. Don't let the size of this book stop you. Sure it's long, but honestly I read this book faster than most 300 pagers. It is that good and her writing is poetic so it flows beautifully. This book is graphic and realistic, but it exposes the truth of pain and depression and the psychology that goes behind every little thing we feel. This book has everything so please go out and read it.
The characters were flawless. Every single one of them had their own backstories. Most of them weren't exposed until the very ending and let me ell you, I never saw them coming. Hopkins put so much thought into this book. Vanessa, Tony, and Connor all had their struggles and their pain, but all of that could be explained and solved. It was a very realistic journey with them. They resisted rehab and lied to some therapists, but they learned to open up. Reading all about their progression to happiness was heartachingly beautiful.
This ending...Ohhh this ending...It makes me want to bang my head against a brick wall. Did I like it? No, I LOVED it. It was perfect, horribly, morbidly perfect. It evoked strong emotions within me, which I loved. I was so surprised by the ending and it was just epic. I feel horrible that that is the way it ended, but it worked. It made sense. Ahhh, you have no idea how many the feelings I have for this ending. I really wish this book didn't end. I was crying and screaming by the very last page. That last line, broke my heart, but was so amazing at the same time. Definitely give this book a try, you won't regret it.
My Favorite Part: The entire freaking book was fantastic. Go buy it, GO BUY IT NOW!
ALL iN ALL: Do I recommend this book? Well, absolutely!!! ...more
REViEW: This is far from the first book I read by the genius Ellen Hopkins. Impulse was the first book of hers that I read and I was absolutely crazy about that book and its ending. It reigned as my favorite book of all time...until now. Hopkins really outdid herself with this book. The plot was so unique and encompassed every aspect of Mormon religion and culture. I really enjoyed seeing how main character Pattyn's religion effected her life. Honestly, I was proud for her when she started to find herself and in the process a cute guy. Did Pattyn become reckless too fast in this book? Well, maybe, but as a teenager myself surrounded by other teens, I though that that made this book realistic and raw, which is the kind of literature the YA genre needs more of. Personally, I thought that the plot was flawless. I couldn't stop reading. Let me warn you though, if you have work that needs to be done, postpone this books because I can guarantee you will want to finish it in one sitting like I did. Hopkins is the queen of plot twists so be prepared for a wild, but heartfelt ride.
Oh man, the characters ripped me apart inside, in a good way! Pattyn was relatable even with her super strict religious background. Pattyn had questions about morals, God, family, relationships, and about her own family, and she searched and lived to find the answers. Personally, I think that Pattyn was right in rebelling. It was necessary for her to find herself and what she truly believes in. When she meets Ethan after being sent away to her aunt's farm, sparks flew. It might have been a little bit insta-love, but for this verse style of book, I think it flowed very well. Ethan was a perfect gentleman and a truly great boyfriend to Pattyn. I loved seeing how they interacted with one another. However it wasn't just the two main characters who got all of the spotlight. Secondary characters such as Aunt J really tugged on my heartstrings too. She had a truly heartbreaking backstory that really touched me. It made me feel like I was getting to know her as Pattyn did. Pattyn's family on the other hand ticked me off. Pattyn's dad is a drunk and an abuser, two things I absolutely despise. His violent nature added to the raw truth that rang throughout this story. Pattyn is a strong, beautiful, and smart girl. She didn't deserve anything she had to go through, but it was an entertaining journey to see her mature and become even stronger because of the pain she underwent.
I don't think I'll ever be the same after reading this ending. I have to admit, it is most definitely the best ending I have ever read. I'm not a heartless person, I just really admire when authors are able to shock readers like me. I've read a couple hundred books in the past few years, and I find it worth it when I read gems with unexpected plot twists like this book. So many books have the same cliche "and then they rode into the sunset" ending. Though I do wish this book had this, I loved it a million times more because it didn't end as sweetly as I expected. I can't even think of a word to adequately convey how amazing this book's ending was. Hopkins is a genius. Although, I will be emotionally scarred from reading this book for a couple weeks, it has opened my eyes to love.
My Favorite Part: The ending, of course!
ALL iN ALL: Do I recommend this book? YES! Read it NOW! Will I be reading the next book? Pshhhh, what kind of question is that??? I don't know what the sequel will be about because, well, the book kind of ended with a bang, but I still NEED to read it super soon....more

SUMMARY: Elena: the golden girl, the leader, the one who can have any boy she wants. Stefan: brooding and mysterious, he seems to be the only one who can resist Elena, even as he struggles to protect her from the horrors that haunt his past. Damon: sexy, dangerous, and driven by an urge for revenge against Stefan, the brother who betrayed him. Determined to have Elena, he'd kill to possess her. Collected here in one volume for the first time, volumes one and two of The Vampire Diaries, the tale of two vampire brothers and the beautiful girl torn between them. -Goodreads.com
THE AWAKENiNG REViEW: I picked up this book because I loved the TV show. I expected the books to be identical to the show. The books are completely different than the show but was very interesting to read after watching the show. The Awakening's plot was pretty intriguing. I had to question Stefan's past and was very interested when he began confiding in Elena. I wish there was a more romance in this book, but thats only because I was expecting it to be like Twilight.
I liked the characters, but I had some issues with them. Elena was a little too stuck-up to me. It's probably just because I'm more of a Bella than a popular cheerleader. I did like how Elena grew throughout the story, but thought it was kind of sudden. I have to be honest, I love Stefan. He was well written and I could picture him being very attractive and a typical brooding vampire. I really think Damon is super interesting. Sure, he's the "bad brother", but I just find him really attractive. I mean, who doesn't like a bad boy? I really enjoyed the sense of mystery he brought to the book.
I expected the ending to end with a big bang, and was a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I loved the ending, but wish there was more too it. I liked the simplicity and the cliffhanger though. It was very well done and makes me want to sink my teeth into the next book right NOW!
My Favorite Part: Damon and Stefan... they are just jaw-dropping.
THE STRUGGLE REViEW: After the major cliffhanger at the end of The Awakening, I could not wait to sink my teeth into The Struggle (no pun intended). I really wasn't disappointed. The plot in this book seemed far more developed than the first. The plot was realistic and made a ton of sense. This book went very fast too. I was more interested in what Elena had to say in this book and I really enjoyed her role in the plot.
I enjoyed the characters a lot more than I had previously. Elena is popular and acts like it, but she seemed a little more down to earth to me in this book. Being a huge Stefan fan, I wish there was more of Stefan in this book, but I'm sure he's going to star in the next installment. Damon was just as I had expected. I personally think he has a heart and a motive for everything he does. I'm really interested to get to know him better.
Ohmigosh... the ending was AH-MAZING! I was completely shocked. About 20 pages from the end, I was thinking that the ending was going to be lame and nothing would really happen. I couldn't have been more wrong. On about the last page the ending comes with a big BANG! It was great and totally unexpected. I sooo want to run out and buy the next book now!
My Favorite Part: The ending, no doubt.
ALL iN ALL: Do I recommend this book? Yes, it was interesting to read about Damon and Stefan after watching the show....more

REViEW: This series is a fast-paced thrill ride of vampires and awesomeness. The plot of this book concerning Claire's allegiance to Amelie was so great! I absolutely loved it! I didn't expect certain things to happen and I loved the direction in which this series is headed. This is book is unique and does not repeat the first two books. I liked how Claire's smarts were finally exposed. I also liked how the secrets of Morganville and starting to be revealed. It is very intriguing.
The characters had a lot of personality in this book. Claire has become stronger, but also a few times did some stupid things. Her intelligence was portrayed nicely in this book. Eve was lovable and goth again. Each of the characters had their own thing going on, and I liked that, even when I could not personally relate, they were all still realistic. Shane is shedding his true personality, which I enjoyed. I just hope he eventually forgives Michael. Michael is amazing again too. He's such a great guy, and I love all the depth that is being added to his character. The new character, Myrnin, was erratic and just like a mad scientist, but it worked for this book. I was constantly wondering what would happen because his character added so much drama and suspense to the book.
The ending was great. It makes me really want to read the next book. Here comes a new character and more backstory! I cannot wait to pick up Feast of Fools to find out what is going down in Morganville. This series is a very long one, but it's so much more unique and better than most long series. This one is already worth it.
My Favorite Part: How the story sucked me in from beginning to end.
ALL iN ALL: Do I recommend this book? Yes, it's so good. Will I be reading the next book? Of course! I need to finish this series! ...more
