Our leading lady in this book is none other than the magical ringmaker herself!! Willa is unique in the fact she is the only one of her kind in this small town which makes dating a little hard.....at least until a sexy shifter barges into her shop. Sparks fly and Willa dares to hope that her lonely nights may be coming to an end.
Entranced by her midnight plea for protection, Nick makes it a point to find out all about this lovely lady that is in need. An old hatred of her kind is buried deep along with the fear that she may try to enslave him. The problem lyes within the make that it seems like a very promising fear.
Willa and Nick are sucked into a brewing war in which Nick's fears are far from unfounded. Willa is reintroduced to a family that she estranged herself from and society that she longed to escape. After the dust settles and the day in won...can she go back to her home? Will Nick still want her?
This was an amazing story to add to this already popular collection. I have enjoyed each and every little part of this town and cannot wait to see who pops up next. It limitless and the series could go on for a good while which is my fondest wish!! Then Halloween would be as close as opening the next book! Another five-star read to add to this delightful series!! ...more
Who would have thought a grown man going RAWR would be toe-curling sexy? Evidently Eve did and let me tell you.......she was right!! Arik is all kindsWho would have thought a grown man going RAWR would be toe-curling sexy? Evidently Eve did and let me tell you.......she was right!! Arik is all kinds of my man! Any guy that prefer spreading out in a suped up SUV verses riding around in an itty bitty sports car is all about my heart. I like something stylishly comfortable and we wont't discuss the things you can do with that much room...because that would be a terrible spoiler!!
Kira was an amazingly cool chick. She had all but giving up on dating when Arik stormed in on her and refused to take no for an answer,,even when she butchered his hair to help deter his advances. It was his straight forward cocky but somehow laid-back charm that captivated her. Not to mention he was drop dead sexy and she got him to modernize his hair with a suggestion. What woman doesn't love a man who listens?
This was a fast-paced whirlwind romance that actually could happen. If you take out the paranormal elements and just look at the love story? A story like this could happen...even though it would make the fight scene really strange in a contemporary romance. Let's just say I bet you will be crossing your legs the next time a metro goldwyn mayer intro comes on the TV and flash back to the steamy scenes in this hot little book. And those of you who say you won't....will still think of this comment. Love the newest addition to this fabulous author's repertoire! I can't wait for more RAWRing fun!! ...more
Welcome to book 2 in Nocturne Falls....where everyday is Halloween and where I would love to live!! How come this wondrous idea has not come about?? IWelcome to book 2 in Nocturne Falls....where everyday is Halloween and where I would love to live!! How come this wondrous idea has not come about?? I didn't know how the author was going with this series, but on the current path she is on, it looks to be delightfully long!! Hank was introduced briefly in book 1 and we find out the skinny on him in this delightful sequel! I am also pleased to say that books can be read out of order!
Hank was a very valiant and honorable character, the very definition of your only as good as your word kind of guy. His old-worldly heirs make him extremely sexy and he is pretty much paired with his opposite, which makes for quite a delightful tale. There are some moments of extreme sweetness that will melt your heart, so beware!!
I loved this addition to this incredible new series by Kristen Painter.....I cannot wait until books 3!! These are the kind of feel good stories you want to read again and again!!...more

It just goes to show you what a well-rounded and talented author she is because even though it was different, it was still completely fantastic!! Delaney is such an amazing main character! From her quirky obsessiveness over chocolate, her spot on wit and humor, to her lovable feline companion, she will steal your heart right from the get go. A strong character who has had about as much luck with dating as I have, which is one of the reasons I enjoyed her. Her split-second decision on stealing a folder from a paranormal dating agency changes her life....literally forever..lol.
Hugh is the scientific brother (watch out ladies...there are 3!!!) and tends to spend his days in the lab. He has tried dating a few women, but they all seem fall flat. He has met a lot of what he doesn't want but nothing that can hold his interest for very long....until Delaney. She gives that 400 year old heart a jump start and sends his mind on a long forgotten journey. Let's just hope they both can get over the lies and secrets!!
I enjoyed this book immensely. It was a light hearted romp through paranormal love and left you feeling all warm and fuzzy on the inside. There was an excellent mixture of paranormal creatures to include a gargoyle, which I found utterly fascinating! That's one paranormal you don't hear much from! I can't wait for book two in this series. Kristen has left this town wide open for a 100 possible stories! Get ready to sink your teeth into her newest sensation!! ...more
Unbelievable!! I really didn't think I could enjoy this series as much as F.R.E.A.K.S, but I am happy to report that was REALLY wrong!! I have an incrUnbelievable!! I really didn't think I could enjoy this series as much as F.R.E.A.K.S, but I am happy to report that was REALLY wrong!! I have an incredible soft spot for steampunk, and this book has risen to the top of my favorites in this particular genre. The world-building was superb, the characters delightful, unexpected, and most importantly relatable (ignoring the fact that some were paranormals). Each character in this book could literally step off the pages and you would want them as a part of your life, especially Verity.
Verity has this way about her that tweaks at your heart. Her flaws are a huge part of what makes her such an interesting and complex character. I love it when an author creates a strong and intelligent heroine, that is at odds with the time in which she was born in. And the machines!! Sometimes the machines, clothing, and jewelry rival in my mind for the best part about a steampunk, as to which in this book I have to give it to the jewelry. Verity's intricate pieces with have thinking of the design of a hairpiece of your own!!
Jamie was not your typical alpha male, which made him that much more perfect for Verity. The adventures the two of these unique characters go on are both fast passed and all consuming. It was very hard for me to put down once I started reading it. I look forward to the next few books in the series!! It looks completely promising!...more
Tarah Scott's newest pair of mismatched aristocrats are an absolute delight!!!! Erroll is on a mission to once again remove his head from the marriageTarah Scott's newest pair of mismatched aristocrats are an absolute delight!!!! Erroll is on a mission to once again remove his head from the marriage chopping block. Surprisingly enough this time he has neither compromised, nor met the lady in question who is accusing him of dastardly deeds. Unwilling to face the consequences of his falsely accused crimes, he decides to take matters in his own hands and confront the "lady" in question. Unfortunately, Erroll makes a slight miscalculation and ends up in more trouble than he bargained for.
Eve was a completely delightful character. The one thing that is consistent in all of Tarah's historicals is that the heroines are completely endearing, sassy, straight-forward, and absolutely enchanting. She takes the best loved traits out of this generation of strong women, blends them with believable historical accuracy, and this results in the perfect recipe for a show-stopping new generation historical romance! Eve was my favorite character, but I must confess that her father was a close second..lol. It is quite obvious where Eve got her personality from.
This book was a complete enchantment from start to finish. I loved the characters, the plot, the humor, and every little detail in between. The journey that ends in a fascinating dynamic between Eve and Erroll is one you do not not want to miss!!! I highly recommend this read to historical lovers everywhere! ...more
I'm a big fan of Kristen Painter's work (and her exquisite taste in cover art) and was so excited that she had a new series coming out!! After readingI'm a big fan of Kristen Painter's work (and her exquisite taste in cover art) and was so excited that she had a new series coming out!! After reading Book One, I am proud to say that this author has yet to disappoint!! It was a fabulous dip into New Orleans, well the paranormal version of it..lol.
As much as I loved Livie, Lally, Dolce, and Augie,(who were such lovable and diverse characters), I equally loathed Harlow. I disliked her to the point that in the middle of the story I was screaming at her and hoping she got thrown in jail early (actually I was really hoping her head would explode). Before you get to know her, I promise you she will make it to your character top ten of wanting to stab repeatedly in the eye. I was stressing out. How can I continue reading a series with such an unfavorable main character? How can she write such a whiny, immature, lead like Harlow when she could have made her more like Dolce (who was one of my favs)?
Then it happens. Harlow starts opening up, you start to find out more about her, and you learn about the twists that come with her abilities. She grows on you as she starts allowing herself to live as what she is supposed to be. Both of our main characters have a strained relationship with their parents, but they are completely different in approach and attitude. I would really stretch it to say that Augustine sees a lot of his mother in Harlow, which in itself is troubling to him. She's still not my favorite character, but her potential to be has grown so much from the beginning to the end. I can't wait to see her when she reaches her full potential.
As far as the plot and the other othernaturals ( I love that word because it sums up all the mixed breeds)? Her underground world is made up of new and diverse beings with quite different powers than what you have grown accustom to. Being a fellow comic book nerd, I see a lot of Hellboy in this book, minus the government involvement. In this world the othernaturals have their own government and policies set up. The humans know they are there, but are able to live out their normal lives.
In Book One we are introduced to some of the main players in the battle that is coming. I have a feeling this is more complex than it seems and can't wait to see more of what's in store!! I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end (even the parts when I wanted to stab Harlow) and added it to my pile of re-reads. I loved it enough to want to read it again....and maybe again. I cannot wait for the next book and would recommend this to urban, comic book, and paranormal fans alike!! This was an excellent read and my only regret is that I can only give it 5 stars!! You rocked it Kristen!!!! ...more
