Jenna was real, she was sweet, she was honest, she was modest and so insecure. She was a mirror of how I used to be when I was a teenager and I felt for her so much. I loved her. And Carlos...Not a flaw in the boy!!! He was A-Mazing. This book definitely speaks to the 'teen' that's still in me, though I am far from a teen anymore. It's about abuse, respect and the lack there of, overcoming, being kicked when you're down, and finding that there is always a way to get back up. The road may not be easy, but people come into your life that 'save' you in a sense. Carlos really saved Jenna and that had me bawling on more than one occasion.
Their chemistry built nicely over time and though this was a quick read, their relationship didn't feel forced even a little. Sometimes you just know when you know and I loved the pace of the book and them as a couple.
The mother in this book should be maimed on town square. She was the perfect villain and I felt Jenna was more than accommodating to that...woman. And she was justified with what happened in the end. I was surprised she lasted that long.
Overall, I loved it. It was a beautiful story about a young girl who found a way when there seemed to be none with the help of a cutie with passion and heart. Loved it!

Lila, you continue to raise the bar and make me proud to know you, as an author and as a great lady.
Not only was the book AMAZING with an amazing message, but the girl can write a freaking book. Her wording is beautiful. Her characters are flawed in the best way, because they long to be better and go to great lengths to make it so. Her men are not just swoon-worthy (Though they are extremely swoon-worthy) they are maxed out with sweetness and good hearts.
The girls in her books, honestly, drive me crazy! :) They are usually the ones who push the guys away, but they have a good reason because Lila's girls have been through the worst kinds of hell. She has a knack for making me want to seriously jump in a book and slap people. Lila's parents... ugh...
The book's flow was good. It's a shorter read, but it was packed with constant angst and sweetness. It has enough going on that I never felt bored, but I never felt rushed either. When they met, the attraction was instant, but there was no insta-love. They progressed slowly and believably. But when they did get together...it was pretty hot.
Abel, Abel, Abel. We met him with him painting a house. Sweating and being hot and sweet. *Sigh* And though he had his flaws, like I said, when everything was brought to light, he accepted his involvement and blame, never tried to pawn off blame to anyone else, was wracked with guilt and did everything he could to make it right.

I loved the two main characters together. Once they were together, that was it and I love that. Aric was very sweet and protective. He literaly risked everything for her and never once made me wanna slap him for being an idiot guy! And Lucy was very level-headed which I LOVE in my protags. Their story and all the crazy stuff that happened to them kept me glued fo the pages. For once, I was actually more intrigued with the plot that the romance between the characters and if you know me that's saying something! :)
My advice? Read it because it was sweet and gripping in more ways than one!(less)
Where have I been?? I've seen this book a few times here and there. It was published in 2010, but I just never dove in for some reason. I wish I had!

I loved this book. I stayed up late and read it on my phone Kindle app every chance I got in the car while hubby drove until I was done. Even though it's usually not the type I like, because the guy turns out to be a 'jerk'. Well...not really. :) I usually am all about the true love. But it's was a conundrum. I felt for this book like I felt for Reckless Magic by Rachel Higginson. I LOVED that series. LOVED!!! It's still in my top 5 series ever to be read by me, but the 'guy' situation was different. The guy you thought you wanted her to be with, winds up being the guy you kinda hate, and then you fall for another guy and then some other stuff happens.
I know I'm not making sense, but it's totally on purpose!! :) I don't want to spoil anything, but I'll tell you this; these two authors know how to pull those guys to finagle it and make your heart move in one direction and then the other. It's not a love triangle, which I dislike immensely.
The story flowed. It wasn't too wordy or drawn out. I never felt like I was lost or struggling to keep up with the plot. It was a semi-light read. There were some moments in the book that made me cringe or tear up, but for the most part, it's a lighter read, which was what I was looking for.
So in conclusion, I've started book 2 already and am VERY intrigued by where things are going. I hope Maddox doesn't break my heart, but I'm ready to find out where this is going.
5 edge-of-my-seat, kissy, torn but hanging on, stars from me!!(less)
