As Mara deals with what her abilities mean and starts having flashbacks to her grandmother's life in India, she is also trying to act "normal" and only shows her true self to Noah. She does this so that her parents won't commit her to a residential treatment centre. She ends up in a day program with other troubled young people. Mara doesn't feel right about the program. She senses that the other students have abilities like hers, and something seems off with the director, Dr. Kells. As Mara continues to have experiences with Jude, her life (and the lives of her family) are in jeopardy. Noah and Mara try to untangle the mess and mystery and end up in the middle of a situation that is much more major and intense than they realized. I really like Mara's character and the development she went through. I also liked her relationship with Noah (although the drama surrounding kissing was blown out of proportion). Lots of drama, lots of suspense, and an overall great read. I couldn't put it down, even though this isn't my normal genre to read in!...more

In book one of the "Todd and Christy: Married Years" series, Christy and Todd stumble over many obstacles that threaten to destroy them. As things get political with Todd's job at the church, he resigns in order to keep the peace and avoid a church split. He soon finds that there is no work for him in Rancho. He finds odd jobs cleaning pools and delivering plants but they are living on fumes. Christy is still working at the bookstore and is also offered a position as a research assistant at the university. Both of them go through an identity crisis as their stability is ripped away and they are forced to trust God for each day. When Christy is laid off and the research assistant grant is denied, they make a drastic decision to move to Newport Beach and live with Bob & Marti while they renovate Todd's dad's house (the house was vandalized by renters). While in Newport, they reconnect with Rick & Nicole (who broke up but go back together)and Doug & Tracy. In the midst of their hearts being reconstructed, God's blessings overflow as they are offered to live at Todd's dad's house for free and a check from Todd's previous flock covers their expenses for 6 months. Katie & Eli set a date for their wedding and T & C are planning to go there and the Canary Islands for Brian & Carolyn's wedding. I loved diving back in to Christy's life. Once again the spiritual lessons were deep and I felt that I could learn a lot from the surgery God did on Christy's heart. Some of the book was quite repetitive as Christy dealt with the same battles over and over. I'm excited to be back in this world and see what is next! ...more

As Willem and Allyson find each other (and find themselves), they share their stories with each other and everyone else involved in their search for each other.
I LOVED this. I was so sad when I finished "Just One Year" because I wasn't ready for Allyson and Willem's story to end. This extra chapter perfectly captured all of the emotions and coincidences that brought Allyson and Willem together (both times) and also completed their story while still leaving their future up to your imagination. Thank you Gayle Forman for writing this!...more
