One of my problems with reviewing book is that sometimes... I just don't know what to say. I'm speechless. And another thing, I'm also speechless because I've read this last Tuesday, 21st. And now... I can't remember it well. >.<
For what I remember... I liked this plot. The way it was written was good. It keeps me reading and not bored. That's really one of the major points I need when reading. It's essential that a story doesn't bore me to death that I would rate it 3 stars and up. But then again, it always depends on the plot. The plot is a bit complicated but I followed it! I keep on guessing what would happen next based on the facts given in the book.
I said that it was a bit complicated... because of the past life of the main character. The lives she lived back in the day was a bit confusing especially since the author made it like that deliberately (I think). Gwen is written to be confused at first because of her past life interconnecting with the present one. It's just like what Kian had said. That the past should not define her for what she is right now.
So as she gain her magic back and memories from the past back... I liked that she knows who she really wants. Not what her past wants. She decided it herself, her current self. And I'm glad that it was not really much of a love triangle.
It's really good that I want to read the next book right now cause I'm impatient like that. :P It's not much of a cliffhanger anyway. And I want to know what will happen to 'that' guy soon. Why does he needs to go... :(
YES! I recommend it! Fantasy magic lovers! :)(less)

Though Addy is a bit frustrating. Why can't she put it all together? She just mentioned about Jay's dog tags but didn't piece it together that maybe it's because of that? *le sigh*
I was a bit skeptical about reading this one.. But after I read it, I liked it. The voodoo thingies in here are good. IT was well thought. The story even it's a bit confusing at first, is really good, in my opinion. The only thing I don't like is that heroine is a damsel-in-distress. LOL. But oh well, I liked it and I am so looking forward to the next one. Because it is just not right to end it like that. :P

One reason I do not like historical setting was the mindset of the characters. Women are a whole lot weaker than men thing, the this is God's will (killing a witch) thing, I kinda hate the society back in early 17th or 18th century.
There is no way that God would want you to kill a human being and pass it as His judgement. It is so wrong to make it sound like it was His will. No. Just. NO. Main reason why I stay away from Historical. But anyway...
This book bored me to death. I struggled to finish it. I wanted to be done with it. I skimmed the over description (IMO) of surroundings, etc. It is the only way to make me finish it. It was so predictable and SO SLOW. The pacing is so damn slow that it feels like unacceptable. LOL.
And yes, I would not be reading the next book. I don't wanna torture myself. I'd rather read House Of Night than this historical setting witch book. I am sorry but I did not enjoy it one bit.
But if Historical is your thing and you wouldn't mind a slow paced book, then you might want to read this. Well, warned you.(less)

I should have read the first book, Splintered first! It slipped from my mind that this is a chapter sampler for book TWO. I was like "It's a chapter sampler." Just didn't know it's from book 2. :/ But I read it, just 30 minutes or less. I'm hooked. I need to read the first one. But it kind of spoiled the first book to me since it basically showed or converse to readers what happened in first book even though it's short introduction.
And whole time I was reading it, I feel like I'm reading a faerie kind of book. The usual fae, the they can't lie fae and all that. I like reading those kinds of stories too. Missed it even because I haven't read those kinds for a long time now.
And all I could say is good job at keeping me interested. I was looking for something short to read and I'm like on my 3rd or 4th one then I picked this up. It kept me reading until the very end. Need to read Splintered soon!
I just read the chapter sampler! Nooooo! I should have read the first book, Splintered, first. :(( But it's interesting! I need to read the first one. :)(less)

I mean, I love the Hex Hall series. But there's just something about this one that is not that quite good as the first three books of Hex Hall. Maybe it was because it makes me a bit annoyed at the part where Izzy was like "I'm new at this stuff so I don't know how to react right." I know that she's new, she's been sheltered since she was born and now her mom was making her experience the world. By world I mean going to a high school.
But if you disregard that fact, it's pretty fun. Though the adventure that is presented to us is not that much cause mostly Hex Hall series' adventures are intense. I'd definitely read the next book to know what happened next. But am I that eager to know? No. I am not. Just normal me. Lol.(less)

So this being a book...moreI don't even know what to say about this book. I liked it at the first part. Why? Well, most of you knew I liked Greek Mythology. So this being a book about Greeks looks good. And it's a Persephone story. From reading Greek Myth books, I knew that Persephone is Hades' wife. BUT... In this book, well, that's the twist. She's NOT THAT Persephone. She's not the wife. Instead, Hades and Zeus (Zeus! Hello, he's your daughter?! Why?!) wanted her dead. Of sorts.
And then as I continue reading it... I feel disconnected with the characters. Sure, they made me laugh a bit. But that's all. There's no giddy feeling between Kai and Sophie. I'm still wondering what is the whole deal. I want to know what is or was their FULL story. I know that it'll probably be discussed or shown in the succeeding books. Maybe that'll be my motivation to read the 2nd book... which would probably be out by next year or two? :D Since this one is not even out yet. I dunno.
OH! Especially the part where they went to save those people? I was like... 'HUH? What? Okay...?' then move on reading the next sentence/paragraph without really understanding what the eff happened or what was happening to Sophie. I didn't imagine the whole fighting scene. Just so you know, I think all avid readers got this wild imagination while reading books. Sooo... That's why I am giving this 2.5 stars. Imagining the scenes are a big YES to me. So if it's a NO, then... sorry. :(
But that is just my personal opinion and you might want to read it and please don't just based on reading reviews on whether to read it or not. I know it might be a huge help sometimes. BUT you need to know it for YOURSELF. :) Hope you all would enjoy reading it if ever you try to read this by the time comes it is out. :)(less)

All the books in this series. I have read them and I liked it. For the whole series, I'd rate it a FOUR stars. This was one of those series that I don't have anything to say besides it's good. I can criticize a book I got a problem with for hours but this is something totally different.
Although I could honestly say that the way it was written was pretty good. Argyle was consistent all throughout the series. If I may say, she totally rock this third one. This is pretty good than the first or even the second one. I keep thinking though, Lilette is a powerful witch. Even if she forget all of it because of the experiences she got, I keep on believing she'll be bad. LOL. You'll understand me if you read the first part. Argyle was talking like small Lilette got the power so big that she couldn't handle it. I was thinking it like that. That one day, she'll snap and turn bad.
She gave me that kind of mindset. So I was kinda expecting something to happen. Did I get what I was expecting? Hmmmm.. You'll have to read it to find it out yourselves. :P I'm not gonna spoil anything.
It was also one of those books that you just had to read it all to satisfy yourself. It keeps you turning every page. Wanting to see what will happen next. That if you suddenly stop in the middle of the book you'll have it in your head thinking "What will happen to them? Will they finally resolve the problem? Will they be together?" Things like that will surely plague you.
Oh yeah, I like the romance between Lilette and... Yeah, him. lol. :P He's loyal and brave and fierce. Loved it!
Witch Song, the first book, is also free in Amazon during the tour. Grab your copies now! :)(less)

Not that great. Not amazing. I dunno. It's just another fantasy. There's really nothing new to it. It's like a combined stories of all the books I have ever read. So yeah. If you like fantasy like this one, then go ahead and read it. :) I mean, if you like, medieval, greedy kings (of course that's always the main issue in all books, greediness and power), prophecy, slightly incest (view spoiler)[not really, I mean they are not really siblings, just that they grew together thinking they are, but only the guy is feeling that way (hide spoiler)], magic, people oppressed, and all that. Go ahead and read this. You might like it better than me. (less)

I already admit this a lot of times now... First, I love the cover. That's the reason why I looked it up in the first place. I am a cover slut. So I mostly picked books based on pretty covers. Although I try not to judge the books by its cover. Second, I saw Diana's - the author herself - review about it. Since she put pretty pictures and what you will get if you read it, she had me at that.
I must say that this book is a page-turner. I wanted to know what would happen as soon as I read the next dialogue. I even cheated accidentally, I mean I was reading this part and then my eyes wandered to the next part where there's this interesting dialogues. LOL. So I hurried to finish the part I am reading so I could move onto the next one.
Just to be clear, I am not the type of reviewer that tackles about how it was written. I mostly review what I feel about it. It might be biased or something, but that what I am comfortable with. Anyway, I love how the story progress, how Emmy need to go to the Methelwood, try to blend in and go to school, then she still hear voices and then knowing it was Breckin Crawford. Then knowing what it's all about, knowing Cyrus Crow, and all that. It's a good plot, great execution of story.
I'm not a big fan of Emmy since sometimes she irritates me like that when she was first brought in Methelwood where she blamed her mother, hated her even. I mean, sure you feel angry about it cause your Mom keep a secret. But she didn't take her time to think about the WHY. Or maybe she did, but she let her anger and hate surfaced more as to being reasonable.
There's this bit of a love triangle. I don't like love triangle BUT I hated it when the female MC can't decide who she wants and the two guys both love her. In this book, it's not like that. From the first time Cyrus came in Methelwood and when he and Emmy was together, I like him more than Breckin. Maybe it's because Cyrus is a bit of a jerk and a bad boy reputation or something, but I definitely LOVE Cyrus. I want him to be with Emmy rather than Breckin. But who am I to say that they'll really end up together and not Breckin, anyway? LOL.
I love how it ends but I am craving for more. I want Emmy to explore more of the Methelwood and it's orbs and citezens and what ability does she have.
But regardless of that, I really liked it and I enjoyed reading it. I am excited to read the second book now! Omg. I hope Diana's doing the second installment now. Wonder when will it be published? :) Grab your copy now!(less)

My fear is really spot on for this book. I know that this was MY pick and I should finish it but why should I waste my time to reading something that is not really making me want to finish it? The only thing that is keeping me from reading it is because I was the one who choose this and made everyone read it. But really, that's not enough reason to finish a book. They (GR friends) might bully me for not finishing it, but really, I don't give a damn anymore. I'm done with this book. And for those people who I asked to read this, you don't have to finish it. And sorry.(less)
