This story will break your heart at times and although I understand why Ms. Reiss wrote this novella the way she did, sometimes I was on the verge of tears.
This is an unconventional love story and I still look forward to reading the next arc in this series. I docked off a star, not because the writing is less good but because this story goes beyond mere erotica and enters territory that might be tough for some readers. I know there are times I could feel my heart break.
Finally, I wanted more Jonathan and Monica and less Monica and Kevin. Something about her ex rubs me the wrong way and I don't think anything good will come out of their collaboration. I can't help feeling that Monica is creating an excessive amount of drama in her life just so she doesn't have to focus on her feelings for Jonathan and that kind of upset me. She is an intelligent and talented young woman who can take much more than she thinks but she is so mired in her own insecurities at times that sometimes I felt like slapping her and shouting in her face, "Snap out of it!"...more

After the genuine tension felt between Jonathan and Monica in "Beg", they are allowed to go all the way and then some with one another in "Tease".
There are aspects of BDSM so if this is not your thing then you should stop now. As usual, Ms. Reiss is beautiful with her prose and this is one of the hottest novella series I have read in a while. Jonathan and Monica are still insatiable but another aspect has been added to all the tension we have become used to: their exes.
Monica's ex and Jonathan's ex are both artists and invite them to a gallery where they have work being shown. Jonathan goes all out and sends Monica to Barneys so she looks stunning on opening night and he invites her along with him. However, their lovemaking was a bit rough the night before the opening so Monica is hit by all these feelings, including how she really feels about her ex, the fact that Jonathan is in love with his ex and no matter how hard she tries, she is starting to fall in love with Jonathan and this is not good for a woman who is used to being in control.
I love Monica's vulnerability and although Jonathan can be a jerk sometimes, he still grows on me and I can understand the attraction.
The ending is a scorcher and it is one that will leave most readers with their mouths hanging open. I know mine was. I expected nothing less from a 5 star erotic novella. ;-)...more
I loved this novella because it was well written and had a plot. Hell, I love steamy scenes as much as the next person but this story blew me away. II loved this novella because it was well written and had a plot. Hell, I love steamy scenes as much as the next person but this story blew me away. I love the MC was tough and not a pushover. Monica is no Mary Sue and she is sure to let the world know it. Sure, she falls for a handsome guy (with red hair so that was a nice touch because I think a man with any natural color of hair can be sexy...he doesn't have to be dark haired or a blond).
However, her career is important to her and while she may be a mere cocktail waitress, her passion is music and I loved she had a goal in life. This is one series I will definitely be following and I adore the way CD Reiss weaves this story. It is multi-layered and multi-faceted. I definitely recommend for anyone looking for tasteful erotic romance that is beautifully written and has a wonderful back story, great characters (not just Monica and Jonathan but EVERY character comes to life and there are no cardboard cutouts).
P.S. Major plus for the setting of Los Angeles. I lived there for six years and this story brings back a lot of memories....more

Good biker books are hard to find. This isn't your Kristen Ashley's biker book and shows the ugly side of the MC as well as the touching and family oriented side. I loved the reality it showed of the true biker lifestyle and would recommend it to any Sons of Anarchy fans too.
Marie is just your ordinary hard up woman who has just gotten out of a bad relationship with her hubby. He smacked her and she runs to her brother, Jeff. What she doesn't know is he's been dealing with the Reapers, a hard core MC, as their accountant of sorts, moving money to off shore accounts. He is major pot smoker and gambling addict so things don't end well.
Horse is introduced on and off in the beginning and there is a lot of stop and start between him and Marie, hence the knocked off star. It was a lot of unnecessary drama, IMHO, but I plundered on and it turned out to be one of the best biker books I have read all year other than Ms. Sheehan's work.
This is, without a doubt, a love story but far from conventional. I am not a conventional gal and prefer my lovers bad boys with careers that are outside the norm. The last two thirds of this book kicks you into high gear and there is never a dull moment. I felt like I truly bonded with these characters and look forward to the next novel in the series....more
