Alex has been talking to who she thinks is Eric online for months. When she decides to fly in and surprise him for his birthday, she ends up being the one surprised when she learns Eric has no clue who she is, because she's actually been talking to his older brother, Joe. From the beginning, Alex humiliates herself time and time again for Joe. I loved this book. It kept me in one spot, reading until the very end. When I finished, I didn't write my review right away. Something about it bothered me. At first, I thought it was the secondary story of Nell and Pat, which completely broke my heart, but then I slept on it. Now, I know what I can't get past. There was never a moment where Joe humbled himself for Alex. Time after time, she stood up to him, stuck up for him, and set herself at his feet while time after time he made every dick move possible. As far as I'm concerned, he in no way redeemed himself or deserved her. As I said, this may make it sound as if the book didn't deserve 5 stars, but that's not the case, because I care that Alex didn't get the man she deserved. When an author can make you care, as if the characters are real, that the true mark of a great book....more

While I really loved it, I didn't fall head over heels for the people in this book like I did in the last series. Not that I'm giving up. I've already preordered the next book. I think the problem was that it seemed to jump from scene to scene in some spots and in others I would have a hard time figuring out who said some things, even after reading the section over again several times. I still thought it was cute....more

This time around, we get Tek and Quinn's story-- two damaged men who want to save each other. Both men are slowly drowning from different, but equal, issues. Life feels hopeless and is killing them. When they come together you want them to be strong, and they were explosive.
My favorite quote:
"I need to kiss you. Taste you, just once." He held up a finger as he walked over slowly. "Just one time. I need to put my lips on yours, feel them part for me. I think you'll taste like everything I've forbidden myself to want. I think it'll devastate me, the feel, the taste of you, when your tongue touches mine. But I want that. Just once. Let me taste you, Quinn." He didn't usually beg. At least not for this, not for a kiss. "Devastate me."
Avril Ashton needs to write faster! This series is amazing and I want more. Feed my need, Avril...more

Lucky's parents are killed and he's sent to live with his aunt. Unhappiness sends him running back to his childhood home--dirty, hungry, and more alone than ever. That's where he meets Elias--an older man who brings him peace, and so much more.
There are so many secrets and lies, I can't give a full description without worrying I'll ruin the story, but these two are smokin'.
My favorite quote:
"This isn't forgiveness," Lucky spoke into his mouth. He stroked Elias with a rough, dry palm, pulling his shaft with tight, angry jerks. He bit Elias's bottom lip, made him groan high and long. "This isn't absolution."
I've always believed you only get one. Not one chance at true love, I think that can happen to you more than once, but you only get one match to your gasoline. You only get one passion that burns you both to the ground. That person who, no matter what else they do, you can love them or hate them, but they still set you ablaze. That's Lucky and Elias. It doesn't matter if it's screwed. If it's built on sand or solid ground, these two burned each other down, and it was heart-wrenching. Great job! On to book #4 for me....more
