Lately I’ve won a couple of books, but unfortunately like The Frail Days by Gabrielle Prendergast, this book was also only a two star read for me.
The Messengers could have been a three star book. I did like it. I really enjoyed reading it but I had to drop a star because of the characters. I can’t really explain it that well without spoiling stuff. I will just say that Frances does something really stupid. She’s trying to help but I feel like even a child would understand how dumb and dangerous her idea is. Her friend also annoyed me. He was all over the place.
When I finished reading this book, I wanted to give it three stars, but I just couldn’t. I can usually look past characters making bad decisions or being slightly annoying, but I couldn’t with this one.
I did enjoy it and think it is worth a read. I would just suggest that maybe you get this one from the library.

I guess I just wasn’t in the mood for it because it took me two weeks to read it. Flick seems like it would be a fast read. It’s not too long and it’s good. I just couldn’t stick with it for some reason. It took me so long to finish.
Normally I love characters like Flick and love books like this one, but Flick and his friends just said a lot of stuff that annoyed me. I know the author was probably trying to make them sound like teenagers, and I suppose some teens do talk like that, but it just pissed me off at times. Again, that might have had something to do with the mood I was in. However, I really did like Rainbow. She was great.
Overall I enjoyed the book and would like to read more from this author.

It has a great message but it’s a super fast read and I think that is why I can only give it two stars. I wish it had been longer. It just seemed like everything was happening too fast. It might have been a three star book if it was even 200 pages. It had everything it needed to be a good book, but unfortunately it was just okay.
If you want a fast, easy read, than you might want to check this one out. It might also be a good one for a kid that likes to read but can’t sit through bigger books. I wish I would have picked this up for a read-a-thon.

I also love Alison Weir. So when I found out I won a copy of A Dangerous Inheritance, I was super excited. I had high expectations for this book and I was not let down.
The plot was very interesting. I just wanted to keep reading so I could find out what was going to happen next. I couldn’t read fast enough. Even though it is a pretty big book, the plot and Weirs writing make it seem a lot shorter than it really is. I flew right through it.
The characters are well-developed and you actually care about them and what they are going through. I really liked Kate Plantagenet, but I loved Katherine Grey.
Overall, this book was amazing. It wasn’t the best I’ve read, but it is definitely up there. I think the only reason I’m not giving this book five stars, is because of how horrible weir made Queen Elizabeth seem compared to Queen Mary. I know she wasn’t perfect but I do look up to her and I think she was the best Queen.
If you’re in to historical fiction, you should give this book a read. If you’ve never read anything by Alison Weir before, you are missing out.
Julie Anne Peters is probably my favorite author, so needless to say when I found out I won a book of my choice, I picked this one.
Every book I’ve reaJulie Anne Peters is probably my favorite author, so needless to say when I found out I won a book of my choice, I picked this one.
Every book I’ve read by her is even better than the one before it. This one is no different. I devoured it. I just couldn’t get enough and in the end, as always with Julie Anne Peters books, I wanted more.
I have fallen for a lot of straight girls in my life and I know how hard it is. Especially when they do the kind of things that Xanadu does. It’s torture and never ends well. So I know exactly how Mike feels and what she goes through. I have related to characters before, but never like this.
The writing, as usual, is incredible. It is so easy to read, it just flows and pulls you right in. It’s kind of like watching a movie. The characters and the plot are believable and real and I just couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I needed to know what was going to happen next.
If you’ve never read anything by Julie Anne Peters, what are you waiting for? They are some of the best books I’ve ever read. I need to get more of her books and soon.
Please, I am begging you, pick this book up. You will not regret it. In fact, pick up all of her books. You will love them.
Far From Xanadu now has a new title, Pretend You Love Me, and a new cover. I may have to buy it just for the hell of it.
