But I had one issue with this one that I felt like I should share since after a (albeit very quick) look through the reviews, it hadn't been covered.
Alexa is dealing with a form of disordered eating throughout the book. Perhaps not a full blown eating disorder, but as someone who has personally struggled I was surprised to notice that this was an issue brought up in the novel - until I was unpleasantly shocked that it was never addressed. Her obsession with food (only eating salads, giving in and 'cheating' or binging, 'methodically' making herself desserts etc.) was never addressed as an issue and simply presented as what those of us who are not genetically blessed supermodels must do. Sure, thinness was not glorified (in the role of Nick's ex), but Alexa's behaviour was far from normal.
I have nothing against books that deal with disordered eating and actually love it when it is done right. Jennifer Probst did not do this, and instead I felt confused and slightly angered at the lack of acknowledgment of this behaviour. The rest of the book was well written (and I'm a sucker for any form of convenience marriage story lines) so I wish I could have given this a higher rating. (less)
