I like a novella here and there as a filler in between my normal reading. You know, you just finished a story but not quite ready for the next full length story, a novella, always does the trick for me!
COME was not at all what I was expecting, it was so much MORE!!
It was erotic in the scenes but more romantic, not contemporary, more a lustful romance and but it was extremely suspenseful!!
I love suspense!! Such a hard genre to find good stories while trying to keep that balance going without losing you with all the build up. I find many of then wind up losing the romantic quality or the suspenseful quality.
J.A Huss gave us a story that was packed full of suspense, intrigue, mystery, smexiness, and characters unlike any other I have come across.
The story line was stunning with a real "what is going on here" feel.
Harper and James in any other situation would have just simply been a contemporary romance, but these were not contemporary characters.
Harper was raised with her brother by her father, The Admiral, who is part of a consortium. Raised as assassins with Harper being promised to a man when she is 6 years old by an agreement her father made to be "given away" on her 18th birthday.
Her brother is taken from her but not before he gives her a key, essentially a key to her freedom.
Harper makes her escape and has been on her own for 11 months, hiding, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Enter James, a killer who has been watching Harper for months. He wants her and will stop at nothing to make her his. A little stalkerish but there is so much behind his story.
When he makes his approach, Harper is obviously suspicious, fearful, but attracted to him. All the while having that feeling of familiarity towards him.
This was a novella so full of suspense. The secrets just piling up and unraveling one by one. I was memorized!
I was also disappointed when it ended with a 1000 questions!!!
I am sooooo thrilled there is a book 2 coming out because I NEED TO KNOW what happens to these two.
What happened to Harper's brother?
Is James in on it or does he really want Harper?
What is the rest of their story? Do they find her?
The list goes on and on!! Thank goodness I only have to wait until the 21st, don't think I can take not knowing!!
And this is my first foray in to the world of J.A Huss and I can say with complete confidence, I am a fan and will be stalking her hard! (less)

Truly fantastic debut story!
Heartbreaking, compelling, grief, a WTH moment, several twists, a shocker, good friends, these are some of the thoughts that immediately come to mind.
T.S. Krupa wrote a story of shocking loss, wrapped up in an extremely emotional story line, and not just the obvious grief and pain Jill deals with. There was the realization that maybe her husband, the love of her life was not the person she thought he was. Always difficult to accept when that love is loss forever and questions remain unanswered.
Then we have some amazing secondary characters in Jill's friends, namely Stella and Lanie. Friends I personally would want. Even Harry, her husband's best friend, who just couldn't quite let go.
Jill goes about her day to day trying to reconcile the abrupt change in her life with the help of her friends and a new man she meets, Ross. And though not ready to move on, the friendship is touching and one you cheer for.
Well written, great flow. Lot's of peaks and valleys. Definitely the epitome of the emotional roller coaster. You'll cry and laugh. Yell and scream. But you will fall in love with Jill and her journey. (less)

Sexy, sweet, funny, completely enjoyable. Characters you just love and a story line that could have been seedy but instead was delivered with a lot of humor that had me both laughing and swooning.
And I loved the cover! Exactly what I envisioned Decker to look like. I think it's the smirk, yeah the smirk, I like it.
Andi Jennings, bad ass but sweet girl from Texas who comes to NYC for a fresh start.
Decker Steele is a successful pornstar who has had some issues rising to the occasion and questioning his life. A bit dark and down in the dumps kind of guy but amazingly sexy and charming.
Andi and Decker knew each other as kids through Decker's best friend and Andi's cousin, Bradley. And it's Bradley that brings them back together by having Decker pick Andi up at the airport on her arrival to the big bad city and making sure she is ok.
When Decker and Andi meet again, their lifestyles couldn't be further apart.
Decker grudgingly does the favor, but is completely taken off guard when all of a sudden, the south rises again! His new predicament is hysterical. But Decker is a hysterical character to start with. His theories, inabilities to understand a woman's psyche really made for a fun read.
Andi is the little engine that could to the core. She buys a building, converts it in to a book store, and will do what she needs to make herself a success.
Decker was not what Andi remembered. She starts to see a different side to him and their banter and sexual tension was just priceless.
There was some super sexy scenes, hysterical banter, witty and equally funny secondary characters, and just a whole lot of page turning fun.
Can a pornstar and a sweet country girl really make a life together? You need to see for yourself!
A recommended fun read because I completely enjoyed the story from start to finish with a huge gooning grin on my face!

Lily Velden has an uncanny ability to express pure emotion and love from the boys in her stories.
My heart broke for Noah. Thinking for so long there was something wrong with him. Finally understanding his own realization to who he really is was just exhilarating as he took baby steps to his self discovery and acceptance.
Robert was even more heart broken. Never having love and his own walls he built around his heart just made me so sad.
When these two come together is was just amazing attraction, sparks, lust, fun, hopes, dreams, and love.
But of course the author just couldn't let them be in their joy. Nope, she had to throw us on her emotion roller coaster and take us for a ride! The hurt was just palpable, realistic, but oh wow did it hurt!!
Beautifully emotional story you won't want to miss!!
Aah sweet sweet redemption! That is exactly how I felt when I finished Tamed.
Redemption of my heart.
No one can write an arrogant, cocky, self assured jerk they way Emma Chase can. I mean you aren't supposed to like those kind of characters, but the way she writes them, you love them!
Twisted did not make me the happy obsessed fan that I readily admit. *shakes head*
So yes REDEMPTION!!!
Tamed was a fantastic read and gave me what I love, an arrogant, cocky, self assured jerk to love. A watered down version of Drew, there is no comparison of course, but Matthew definitely attended the same school of male jerkery as Drew.
Again, no one writes these type of male POV's the way Emma Chase can. No one.
I liked Matthew in Tangled. And Dee just scared me. But they were great secondary characters. So for them to have their own story, to find out more about them and how they actually got together...fabulous!!!
And their story just works.
There was even some more of Drew's demise from the start of Tangled that we now have a bigger picture of. Loved that.
Loved Matthew's voice telling his story and he is his own person. The author portrayed that beautifully. Not once did I compare him to Drew, he held his own through out the entire story.
An excellent example of contemporary romance packed full of humor, swoon worthy scenes, some drama, a little bit of pain and frustration, but mostly a completely entertaining story with characters you love and are engaged with.
"Delores is a gorgeous name, for a gorgeous girl. Plus, it rhymes with clitoris…and I really know my way around them. Big fan."
Now that's an opening line when picking up a girl!!
And the story just takes off from there.
Dee is Dee. Makes no excuses, balls to the wall kind of girl. Knows what she wants and what she wants is Matthew, but that's it. No relationship's.
Matthew is the same until their first roll in the hay, and what a roll!
The story was witty, charming, get to know you kind of fun.
The chemistry phenomenal. You wanted to hug Matthew, he was trying so hard, and choke Dee at certain points, but you knew in your heart of hearts, they were just so right for each other.
Absolutely stellar, loved it and my own heart is just soaring for Emma Chase.
How she does what she does is beyond me but am so pleased she does!!(less)

Code Red is the epitome of chick lit. Story lines I love but don't come across very often. Romantic, cute, sweet and funny. Low angst and drama, except for the girl naturally. A true *hugs* kind of story.
Sooooo.....what went wrong?
The Hot Corner was just a hard sell for me. I just expected chick lit, the premise kind of led me that way and the author is a chick lit hero of mine.
But no, that's not what I got sadly.
The main reason is the fact that the author based the entire story on one of my biggest pet peeves. A misunderstanding.
Story lines based on a misunderstanding is right up there with over the top angst that goes on and on and on, then end with a POOF all better. *grits teeth*
The fact that this misunderstanding happens two years into their relationship makes it worse. A relationship where the couple claim they are each other's best friends? Best friends talk, they communicate.
Nope. It's a hard sell for me, just seems forced, that you have to believe the misunderstanding, otherwise there really isn't a story line. Misunderstandings usually fare well with YA genre. This was not YA.
But regardless of how I sound right now, Amy Noelle is a talented writer and one I will continue to watch.
This one just was not for me. More my issue than anything else. (less)

She may love a story, but to actively seek out other reviewers, even with stories she edits or is involved with, no, she just doesn't do it, not her style.
I read the premise and was like, really, smut? And sci-fi smut no less.
This was very un-Kathy like. We are very alike when it comes to smut. There has to be a story line, it can not be gratuitous, there must be a driving element, and a flow.
Very rare for these types of stories. They usually are just sex chapter after chapter. I get bored and start skipping around for the the actual story.
But she raved so I took notice and agreed to read it.
Well...WOWZA! She was right!
This really is just one of those rarities that will knock your socks off...maybe some other things too!
Quick fun read. Complete story line which I love in any novella. Author ties everything up very nicely not leaving you wondering or with the "huh" that's it?
Nice characterizations and for sci-fi, which I do not read much of, I definitely got on board with the "creatures".
Nevan and Seena are from two different worlds and stations in life. But really not so different as they soon find out.
Lot's of smexy hot scenes that drove the story line, another big plus needed for erotica, or yep, I lose interest.
Was a bit nervous as the ending was approaching hoping against hope it would end the way I wanted, and you know what? It did!!

Sometimes you truly believe that world was created especially for you. You believe this is your story. That the author some how just knew your life, every bit of your life that most people don't and will never know. A rarity, but sometimes it does truly happen.
For me, this is that story.
A story that touched my soul more than anyone will ever know, more than I can describe myself.
A beautifully written story of how people can be different and the same. How it really doesn't matter what blocks are thrown in your way, you can overcome them the best way you know how. And maybe on the outside it doesn't appear that way, but in your heart, you know you achieved greatness just by succeeding on a daily basis no matter how large or small the goal.
The story of Colton and Lilly was told so realistically, I had tears in my eyes. Their struggle to just be was a stunning testament to the authors ability to tell a story most people do not understand and will not understand unless that story is your story. You can google to the sands of time end, but unless you live it, you can not appreciate the depths the author went to.
And even if it is not your story, Puddle Jumping is an amazing story that will engage you from start to finish.
And the cover. From the moment I saw it at the reveal, I was awestruck by it's beauty. I thought it was just stunning, but now after reading the story, I understand it so much more. It is still a gorgeous cover but a cover that now speaks to me.
Thank you Amber for the courage to write and publish this story. It is one I will never forget.

Meg had to be one of the most unlikable characters I have read in a very long time. No redeeming qualities at all. Her own friends didn't even seem to like her. She basically uses Sergei (Seth) to get back at her ex-husband and then shows no appreciation towards him at all. She was just mean, except when she wanted sex, and then pretty much used him as a BOB.
Sergei is a doormat and just let's her.
Convoluted story line that just never got to a point.
Oh! I did like Meg's brother Stephen though. (less)

This is my first read from Daisy Prescott and she is now my newest obsession!!
The story and author's writing style is just, dare I say, transcendent.
Yes, I dare.
The range of emotions, the characterizations, the settings, lush and visual, the love story in itself...just wow. I was in awe from start to finish.
Missionary Position is a story that would be very easy to give away spoilers, so I will do my best not too.
Selah is a smart, confident, feisty, knows what she wants woman. Yes woman. Selah is a grown up in her early 40's on sabbatical for a year.
She is journeying to Ghana to study sculptures at the museum, for a few months.
Let me stop here for a moment and just point out a few things that just hooked me about this author.
This is an author who does her research. Sprinkled through out Selah's story while she was in Ghana, we the readers, were treated to a history complete with areas, sites, and attractions. So visual were these treats, I spent a few hours on google looking up different mentions from the story. Really do love that kind of stuff.
So we have a complete background and setting where Selah is.
Then we have the development of the arbitrary secondary characters that just came to life as Selah's new friends. So well developed were these characters, additional stories could be written about them.
Again, really love that.
Then we have Kai, aka Gerhard, snicker snicker, yes I am snickering and you will find out why. The humor in the story was adult and I don't mean porn, I mean adult where you have to think a bit what the characters are saying, but once you do...snicker snicker.
Kai is a few years younger then Selah. An intelligent, professional, and extremely handsome business man. He has a history and baggage as well he should.
What adults don't when they reach mid-life?
Realism, love that too.
Selah and Kai meet in Amsterdam on the first leg of her travels.
Instant attraction but not instant jump in bed. They spend a wonderful week together, part, and keep intermittent in touch via text.
Then Kai appears in Ghana taking Selah completely by surprise.
These were two adults who were in love, exuded passion, emotions, and lot's of confusion all at the same time.
The flow of their relationship was perfect, no quick jumps, no annoying slow burn and then bam, just a well paced lovely story.
I absolutely loved this story!! I felt like I was completed transported in to the authors world and never wanted to return!! (less)
