Did the author seriously ended the trilogy that way? I just couldn't believe it. There's no promising of a happy ending in my opinion. It wasn't over. Not by a long shot. Author took a great risk to kill off several characters that made my mouth dropped. The author is definitely an auto-buy whenever I seen a paperback or hardcover at a book store. I liked the fact that his trilogy is full of actions that kept me going. Without even realizing how long they were. It was that good. It loses two star because I really don't like how the author chose to end the trilogy :( the presequel didn't help any either. :/ just wow. Shocked. Speechless. Type of book that might keep you up all night wondering of what ifs. Just unbelievable....more

So many things going on and it made it difficult for me to keep my hope high for Thomas. I was more shocked at every shock Thomas dealt with. It was crazy and the author had guts to write something like that. Everything about the world building is so scary I wouldn't even want to live there. To go through all of the obstacles, I wouldn't know if I actually would survived. Especially in that insane storms and dealing with over-crazy cranks. This book actually made me miss one specific character more that I had experienced from the first book. Just wow. Speechless for a few minutes when I finished the book.
Highly recommended for anyone that enjoyed constantly actions and dystopia genre. ...more

It had completely new characters and it happened way before WICKED was formed. The book was filled with a lot of actions that keep my heart race fast. It was that good I couldn't put the book down. It didn't even feel like 300+ pages when I started and finished the book.
Now for the characters development- the author scored really high on that one. I got connected to every characters even the minor ones. The deaths shocked me and hit me hard as I continued reading. It made me feel emotional and not many books did that.
The world building was amazing. I got to see how the world ended. The author described them brilliantly. Especially in Mark's dreams. It worked extremely well in the book since not a lot of flashbacks actually work well in books. The author balanced it out and kept it short. It gave me a better feeling and understanding of what exactly going on before the maze happened.
This book earns a solid five stars. My only con about the book was the ending. It didn't exactly give me any answer what happened to Mark, Trina, Alec, and Deedee. So I hope I'll know when I start second and third book in the maze runner series.
Highly recommend you to start this one before you start the maze runner. ...more

It was original and something different from what I normally read in a vampire book. It was interesting how each blood from each paranormal people symbolized for. I definitely highly recommended anyone who would love to check out for a quick read. It does had a graphical scene that had my mouth dropped open completely for a couple seconds while I continued on reading. The author sure know how to caught me off guard....more
