Love that line!

What a delightful book though. I really do enjoy books by Dickens. Now, I did zone out in a couple places and part of it was because of heavy descriptions on food and other things. Other than that, it held my attention and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Part of me wishes I listened to it before Christmas to really get into the Christmas spirit, but this is a timeless classic that can be enjoyed any time. I'm just sorry I didn't read or listen to it sooner. I also would mind reading it again. While I enjoyed listening to book, I would love to see it in print. I found the writing beautiful. (less)

Well well well well well, what can I, a lowly writer who doesn't read enough say about this twisted violent book. A book filled with murder, rape, and more brutalities, all done by a mere fifteen year old malchick. Oh and of course, we cannot forget that our Humble Narrator and Friend, Alex, govoreets in nadsat, teen slang all throughout the book. I know someone already posted a link for the glossary under their review, but in case you can't find it, I'll post another one, http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Concord...
Okay, I had my fun with the language and style, it'll probably be the last time, I'll use those words in a sentence lol. Anyway, back to the review. As you can see from my ratings, I really enjoyed this book. Now, as said before, there are many disturbing situations and scenes, so be prepared. Nothing is really detailed, or erotic, but nonetheless, you are going to be in the mind of a killer and a rapist...and unless there's just something wrong with me, you're probably going to end up liking him...a lot. I say if you're interested in getting into a criminal's mind and reading his story- like I was ;) I definitely recommend this book to you. However, if you hate having to read things in another language with no dictionary or glossary at your convenience then this book might annoy you. Overall, I really liked reading Alex's story and since I found glossaries online for the language, it wasn't so bad, plus I got used to it. Happy reading :) (less)

I loved Diana Wynne Jones writing style. Though it is simple, the tone of it had kept me going and held my attention. I got to learn more about the characters and find out who they really are. For example, Sophie is pretty mean and quite nosy.
I definitely recommend this to those who have seen the movie, that way one can see the story in it's true and original form. To those who have not seen the movie, I still recommend book. If you like fantasy, comedy, you'll love this book. If you can relate to being the oldest in your family and feeling bored with life, then this is a book for you. If you do pick it up and check it out, enjoy! (less)
