The Clankers or the Austro-Hungarians and Germans with their steam driven machinery opposed to the Darwinists or the British Empire and their fabricated animals. Aleksandar Ferdinand and Deryn Sharp are the main protagonists. Alek being the prince of the Austro-Hungarian Empire was being chased by his own men after an event involving his parents. Together with some of his loyal crew he seeks refuge on a deserted castle while waiting for the war to end. Deryn Sharp is disguising as a boy in order for her to be in the British Air Service. Together boarding the Leviathan while the war is still going, they find themselves attached to each other, Alek hiding his royalty blood while Deryn is hoping that no one particularly Alek cracks the truth about her.
I love the character of Count Volger who is the mentor and main defender of Alek. A very dedicated man with a talent in fencing and only has one concern which is Alek’s safety. The book is very endearing. Its history accompanied by twisted actions and adventures which will give you a hard time if you will put it down or not.
Favorite part of the book would be the exploration of the Leviathan and gathering the ideas of how it work and how it is classified as an ecosystem.
I recommend the Leviathan book/series to steampunk lovers and/or those readers who just enjoy adventure and war action a lot. (less)

Melanie Stryder one of the last remaining humans was captured and she thought it’s the end for her. Wanderer “Wanda” the soul that was placed inside Melanie’s body was so convinced of herself that she will be well-suited enough to her host compared to her other hosts on other planets but she wasn’t. Wanda in Melanie’s body was having a hard time isolating her thoughts because Melanie can always interrupt and intercept her thoughts and ideas. Together they came across other human survivors living inside or rather under a cave in the middle of nowhere. Melanie found out that her brother and the love of her life is still alive. With the help of the others Melanie and Wanda becomes one team with only one goal and that is to stay alive.
Wanda is my favorite character because I find her very appealing for an outsider who does not belong to the human race. I can feel her emotions which are so strong and her feelings towards the humans are just absurd. She truly well adopts what humanity teaches her.
The host is probably one of my favorite novels or rather series if the rumors are true. I’m not a fan of sci-fi or alien stuff but this book made me a walking dead for not sleeping at night just to read it. Favorite part is when Wanda was like reborn into a child which kind of signifies hope for me.
I recommend it to those who are a fan of reading books about aliens or ufo’s or to those who just want to read a good book and experience something new then this one is for you. (less)

Aboard the Leviathan, our main characters Alek and Deryn are hoping to stop the progress of war at Constantinople or Istanbul. But since the Leviathan’s failure in the peacekeeping mission, the two of them struggle to go on with their operation as a commoner and as a British boy. They have found allies in the enemy’s land; the CUP or the Committee of Union and Progress which is composed of different factions of anarchists have helped them mutually. Together with their allies they enforced the sultan to be replaced and have succeeded on defeating the Germans machinery in taking control of the whole nation.
Lilit is my favorite character in this installment. She is fairly fascinating for a girl. We don’t see girl’s everyday who has passion for machines and/or girls who are willing to be greased all over and to be not distracted about it.
Thinking about Lilit makes me :)
The book is great but the whole series is much better. I definitely can’t wait to read Goliath and to see what will happen to our duo. The characters are developing fast especially Alek's character from a ninny to being heroic. Favorite part of the book is when Lilit kissed Deryn thinking that she is a boy. The look on my face during that scene was just absurd like OMG two girls kissing and both good in combat, its just, err WOW!
The Leviathan book/series is good for steampunk lovers and/or those readers who just enjoy adventures and war actions with a little bit of romance involve. (less)

It’s about World War 1 and how the prince of Austro-Hungarian Empire together with his dependable allies tried put an end to it. Alek was able to uncover the true identity of Deryn who disguised herself as a boy in order for her to work aboard the Leviathan. In return, Alek spilled out the truth regarding him on being the next one to sit on the throne to govern his empire. On their way to Japan they picked up a peculiar passenger who is said to be the originator of the Tesla cannon and also have a huge invention in New York in which he says can stop the whole freaking war. In New York, the pair has to go separate ways; Alek stands by the inventor in which he believes have the key for world peace while Deryn has to go back to the British Empire aboard the Leviathan. In the end the inventor seems to be a fraud and is just mad and crazy to the bones with his ideas and creations. It’s up to Alek to save the day after all.
Favorite character is Aleksandar. I’ve seen his strengths and his weaknesses throughout the three books. How he tried to be a deserving ruler for his empire, how he protects his remaining followers and allies and, how easy for him to let go of everything that he deserves for the one he loves.
Favorite beastie is the Kappa from Japan. They are just one pesky deadly ugly thing.
I love the book and the whole series. Westerfeld has brought me in to this world of his, wherein beyond the whole chaotic war there is still that long-secret romance hidden in it waiting to burst out. Favorite part of the book is the death of one of the most annoying character in the latter part and yeah I know he deserves it also the last scene between Alek and Deryn. I have one wish though, I was hoping for a deeper story between Count Volger and the Lady Boffin's intriguing love story.
I recommend this book/series to all steam punk lovers and great war readers and also those who devours books that has romance in it but doesn’t want it to be super mushy. (less)

The book was astounding. I adore the twist at the end and similar to Luke Brandon my jaw drop to the ground. It’s remarkable how Becky prepared the entire festivity even though at first it becomes a little bit complicated particularly with the lack of finance support but in the end it all comes slickly. There are parts that made me chuckle and parts that are so moving like the contribution of Elinor Sherman in the party. (less)

It is fast paced and with the addition of paranormal things which is quite different from Kinsella’s novels that makes it readable. The story is very light and the characters are very warm and engaging. Though I don’t like the ending because it’s very easy to guess what will happen in the last part, still it’s a good read and has some values to pick up. (less)

Meanwhile Tessa Gray takes sanctuary in the London Institute managed by the Shadowhunters which is threatened that Charlotte will be dethroned. Tessa is still in search of who she really is and is denying herself that she still cares for her brother Nate after everything that had happened. With the aid of her Shadowhunter friends Will and Jem, they have unraveled the Magister’s clandestine and his personal burden towards the Shadowhunters. The plot to capture Mortmain was not easy. Not easy for the reason that various Shadowhunters are being controlled like puppets for his personal gain. Will finally got answers from all his questions. That he was not cursed and he was worth loving for. But he got his answers a little bit late. The ending was good they were able to sustain the custody of the Institute and it seems that there will be a good and exciting third book because of the cliffhanger in the end. Can’t wait!
I’m attached to Will’s character. I personally like him even though in the beginning he was kind of rude and badass but I like it, it’s like I’m seeing myself from him. I love how he tried to repel other people in his life for their own safety and how his walls collapsed and his real emotions and intentions gave in. The feelings he have for Tessa in the end was so intense especially when he actually admits the he love her from the beginning but knowing the truth between Jem and Tessa just crushes his heart as well as mine. I want them to be together though I also like Jem.
I love the book. I love the series. I actually like it more than the Mortal Instruments series I don’t know why. Maybe because it’s oldschool from the clothes, settings, words, and the behavior of the characters are very refined.
LEAST FAVORITE PART. The cliffhanger in the end it just sucks! I can’t wait for another year or two. (less)
