Okay, so I already knew what I was in for with this story because I'd read S&N first. I already went into the game Team Camden all the way, 100%, so it made it easy for me to detach myself from the attachment I knew Eden/Ellie would form.
However, as with all good writing (and as you probably know by now, Karina's writing is fucking fantastic) I eventually found myself actually liking the bad guy just as much as the lead character. It was all too easy to want something from him. Something good, some shred of hope, possibility of redemption, just....something. And for a few brief moments, you definitely catch a glimpse of those possibilities.
At least you think you do.
*slight spoilery talk ahead*
In reality, it's really just one great big mindfuck. Because by the end, it's so very clear that you've bought into the lie just as much as Ellie. And then you're questioning how much of it was really a lie. Again, a byproduct of fantastic writing. I wanted to throw my kindle into the wall. I absolutely loathe (view spoiler)[cheating stories (hide spoiler)]. Like, LOATHE them. And yeah, the worst part is Ellie is just as much of a liar, only she actually changes her heart, changes her motives, gives up everything, every single part of herself, only to be crushed. It's beyond painful to read, but man does it make you appreciate Camden so much more later on.
In short: Read this series. Run. Run right now and buy this series.

Everything I love in a book. Edgy, layered, well-developed characters, sexy times, and heart-stopping suspense. The writing is rich and vivid--I wanted to reach out and touch the desert--pacing great, and that ending....that ending tore me up, even though I was preparing myself for it. Broke my damn heart. Undoubtedly my new favorite series. 5 massive stars.

This is just one of those books that is so good, you can't put into words how much you loved it. The writing style was fresh and fun, and the main character's voice was just....hilarious. So incredibly witty and laugh-out-loud good. Seriously, I was smiling pretty much the whole time I read this--the humor is just great. I highlighted so many lines, I couldn't keep up. I can't even pick one to share here because I just love too many of them to pick only one. This book is worth the read for the humor alone, but if you want sexy contemporary romance thrown in, this is the book for you. It's just one of those feel-good stories. Enjoy!...more
One Tiny Secret is a sexy, edgy, scary ride. Five stars. Huge thanks to the author for the opportunity to get my read on before its release.
When I was One Tiny Secret is a sexy, edgy, scary ride. Five stars. Huge thanks to the author for the opportunity to get my read on before its release.
When I was given an ARC of One Tiny Secret, I already had a feeling I’d love this book for one reason alone—Adam is a horror fan like me (Walking Dead and old-school R.L. Stine fans, ummm....right here!) and well, when horror fans write thrillers of their own, they do it with gusto.
But as soon as I started reading, two more things popped out that made this book a winner for me: 1.) Adam nailed Dani’s POV. Finally, a NA heroine I can get on board with. She’s down to earth and real. No insta-love and no I’m-so-pretty-but-I-don’t-know-it crap. I genuinely liked her and was rooting for her from page one. 2.) I instantly felt like I was reading a mash-up of all my favorite 90s horror films. Scream, The Faculty, Urban Legend, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Halloween H20…I could go on and on. So if you’re a geek like me and love that stuff, then this story is right up your alley. The whole story read like a fun horror flick with some romance and plenty of sexy moments tossed in for good measure (Helllooo, Parker. He’s got the V, ladies. Insert SWOON here.) The dialogue was witty, realistic, and true to the characters’ age group. The plot was well paced and the tension had me biting my nails—it had me guessing to the very end!
If you want something fresh in the NA world, read One Tiny Secret. To my knowledge, there aren’t many NA thrillers out there, so horror fans who want to see something with late high-school/early college aged characters could really use something like this on the shelves right now. Maybe it will light the way for more reads like it. One can only hope…
