Like in Ring for Jeeves (1953) a real life creeps into this novel. First published in 1936 there is references to The Great Depression. And while brilliantly funny and happy go lucky story Laughing Gas shows not so pretty face of Hollywood - April June (love that name, btw)- the gold digging bitch extraordinaire, an alcoholic cousin Eggy and a miserable life of a child film star.
The main character Reggie (27) is a good egg and very likeable. He is somehow naive/innocent and because of that not so good judge of character. The child film star Joey (12) while still has a childish qualities is often more mature and experienced than Reggie. And, I've to add, that Ann so far is my favourite heroine in the Wodehouse stories.
The sensitive souls who called Katy Perry a racist because she wore a kimono in AMA performance should be warned that words "nigger" and "Jap" shows up. But, please remember that, in the past it wasn't considered primarily offensive. And since the Hollywood till this day makes movies with Caucasian actors portraying Asians aka "yellow-face" don't be shocked that in this novel there are two blokes using make up to pass off as Japanese and Filipino. But, of course, I'd heard of Morrissey being self-centred and arrogant prick but while reading and googling a lot, I come to conclusion that's bullshit. And now, I how to say that after reading his autobiography, I've found him likeable and all kind of awesome human being. And he can write
I expected it to be bleak read and while sometimes it was, it was because he was writing about sad or hard times in his life (his years in school, deaths of loved ones...) but what I didn't expect was that Morrissey has such a great sense of humour and warmth.
And while some might be disappointed that he doesn't reveal much personal stuff and secrets in his autobiography, however if you're to look closer, than his sharings with his thoughts, opinions and musings of that and that, are more revealing than let's say Roald Dahl's autobiography.
BTW, I've never believed accusations that Morrissey is a racist (hello, listen to his songs.) One accuser of Morrissey being a racist says "Morrissey didn't help his case with an uneasy flirtation with gangster imagery: he took up boxing and was accompanied everywhere by a skinhead, named Jake..." Let, me LOL because in his autobiography Morrissey leads us to understand that Jake was his partner.

But what if Judas betrayal was an act of love, faith and devotion? What if Judas was the best and most loyal follower Jesus had? What if Judas betrayal proved that he, Judas Iscariot, was the most deserving of Jesus apostles?

There are a lot of things that could improve this story and the author has made mistakes, inconsistencies, but it's a fanfiction. The author had a story to tell and so what if she didn't check the facts and her writing isn't always perfect. This story is like an unpolished gem with a good beta, editor it would have been perfect.
This work is more an original fiction than fanfiction, if we change the character names it would be unrecognizable as a HP fanfic.
For an example: The story is set in the USA during the Great Depression, no magic, Harry and Ron are teenagers, Draco is few years older, Hermione is in her middle twenties. James and Lily are not a very happy couple, Percey is an amazing older brother and the Weasley twins are just as easy going but more careless. And Ginny is a bitch.
The story starts when the Weasley children leave their parents to look for a job and Harry with Dean Thomas joins them. From the start they are followed by a bad luck: by mistake they take the wrong train and thanks to that Harry meets Draco for the first time. But it is the second time when Harry meets Draco when they destinies are, unknown to them, intertwined. (view spoiler)[Draco rapes Harry, and to add insult to injury, gives Harry a money. Months later, Harry in desperate need for cash, sees that his only chance is to offer his body to Draco in exchange for money. (hide spoiler)]
Harry is wonderful character- he is loyal, brave, loving and forgiving.
Although Draco is older than Harry, Draco is more childlike. Draco has a caring nature but he is so spoiled and egoistic that often he acts cruelly.
Percy? You will love him! I did. Hermione is so cool in this story, she is strong and realistic.
All the characters are well written expect Ginny. To me the Ginny bashing is one of the biggest issues with the story. And how dare Harry call her a whore and slut since he had slept for a money himself?
And the side story about James Potter? Creepy as hell!
Main pairing: Draco/Harry Side pairings: Hermione/Ron, Pansy/Luna, Narcissa/Lucius, Narcissa/"Jack", James/Lily, Ginny/Peter, Ginny/Blaise Mention of: Draco/OFC, Lucius/OFC, James/Tom

He was born in wealthy family but soon after his birth family's fortune turned for the worse. Daniel is spineless and faint-hearted but at the same time he is well wishing and meaning, good and naive that I found myself liking him very much. (less)

(less)

Peter's brother is dead and Peter wakes up locked in cell. He is drugged and his powers are gone. A glass wall separates him from Sylar who is also imprisoned. For months they are together without another human contact. Once the experiments begins both men realises that their lives here are not of importance . Slowly Peter changes as he becomes more desperate and more determined to survive and revenge Nathan's murder. (view spoiler)[When Sylar is close to dead Peter manages to break drugs in his system and save them both. And get his revenge. (hide spoiler)]
Apparently its pre-slash however I fail detect romantic feelings between these two. But not pairing or lack of it is important here. Its well written psychological horror and character study.
The day drags on impossibly slowly, slower than any that came before. Peter doesn't stray far from the wall, doesn't pass it without leaning into its cold surface, a press of fingers that leave prints and warmth behind. Because bringing Sylar back once does not mean they don't intend to take him again, or kill him, or move him. Sylar moves little but when he does it's slowly, painfully, like he's been hollowed out and put back empty and drugged. Peter eventually stays by the wall, leaning in the same spot where Sylar's narrow back rests, watching the walls and the slow unhappy pulse that jumps in Sylar's neck. He's too paranoid to sleep. But then, they took away that choice weeks ago.

Ostap Bender is now one of my favourite characters. I've suspicion he might be a sociopath, someone you would wish to avoid in real life but as fictional character it's hard not to like him. He is very charming.
Osip Shor (Осип Шор) - the prototype of Ostap Bender. Interesting personality.

In the forest, a thorn bush tells her which way to continue, but only after she has warmed the bush by pressing it to her chest, causing her to bleed. The mother then reaches a lake that carries her across in exchange for her eyes, which she cries out.
