The thing about this author is she knows how to weave a web of a story with some really interesting twist and turns. I always feel like I am on the edge of my seat when I read her books. Maybe that is why I like her writing so much.
Her writing is simple, it flows like a beautiful river and nothing about it is overdone or just to much for me to take in.
This book was a big change from FOL (Flat out Love) it dove into adult situations and language but I think it did it well.
I will say, like everyone else around 70 percent there is something that occurs that really had my emotions all over the place. These are the best kinds of stories.
Oh and the sex was pretty hot. A little unbelievable at times, but what book have I read with sex scenes that didn't feel a bit cheesy to me? I'm sure everyone else ate it up.
Now as for the ending and the overall, it was a great read, I can't give it five stars because I kind of felt like the ending wasn't what I looked forward to. I am a twisted kind of person, I was expecting things to happen that didn't. Like maybe Sabin kills himself, or they realize that he was the one who saved her and that's why the scars were identical because she was in his arms.
I loved it, I love the story and I look forward to more to come. If you like an emotional read go for it!(less)

So when I read the first couple pages, let's just say I was thrilled.
I love when a book pulls me in the first page I read. That's when I know the book is worth reading.
Strings was a great read from the first to the last word. I loved each and every character. They all were painted so beautifully that I felt like I was a part of the wild ride.
From the beginning I was totally enthralled by Shades, he's hot, he is bad ass, and the fact he literally was willing to do anything and not care that made the story even more bad ass, and also made me rubs my eyes and ask myself if I read the first part correctly. I loved both bands and I think the writing was so well done that the music aspect of the book was spot on.
It's not the first book I have read with a bunch of raunchy sex talk, and I wasn't appalled. I was amused and impressed with the amount of wit this author has. And I found myself laughing and smirking the entire book.
It's filthy, but in a good way. The chemistry between Letty and Shades was perfect. They were meant for each other and I hope to read more. I also loved Jinx, probably more than Letty even.
The whole book was great, but for me the ending was the perfect icing on my sex filled cake. It was everything I could ask for in an ending. And it wasn't cheesy and it left me satisfied.
I will definitely be reading more from Kendall Grey. I look forward to Beats. Give her books a chance, she is a talented and a awesome chick! (less)

I really didn't even think about picking this up, but last night when I was rather emotional I read the sample and totally found myself relating to the words I was reading. I will say it made me feel better in many ways. Vinny offers a lot of helpful tips on battling anxiety. Those who don't have it don't understand how hard it is. It can hit out of nowhere, it makes you go places in your mind you never even thought you would go. Reading Control the crazy really opened up my mind to things I was just overlooking about anxiety. I highlighted the crap out of the book on my kindle fire, so I could reread all the great parts. It's definitely worth a read if you are struggling with anxiety. Knowing someone I see on television (Jersey Shore fan) goes through the same things as the rest of the world does is nice. Nobody is perfect, and we all need a way to come back from the darkness that takes over in our lives sometimes and I think this book does a good job at helping control the crazy!(less)

I was very impressed with the book and now even more then before I want to see the movie. It wasn't hard at all to fall in love with these characters. Spark's makes it so easy to feel everything his characters are feeling. And man did I dislike Clayton. He was absolutely horrid and even at the end I still had zero respect for him. Like all of Spark's books you come to expect something awful and sad to happen near the end, so I was begging and pleading that Logan made it out alive. I won't give anything away, but the ending was a bit of a surprise in many ways. I think Logan's character may be one of my faves I have read. He was so perfect and genuine. Even when he was holding back his true reason for showing up I still loved him. I love the photograph, that it was so lucky for him and in the end it was lucky for someone else too. I think his whole journey was for more reasons then you even know while reading, but I love how the book wrapped everything up and made it almost magical. I think this is a book that anyone who enjoys a good romance and heartfelt story would enjoy. I couldn't put it down. I guess the only gripe I did have was the actions of Clayton at the end. It was a little odd, but that didn't take away from anything. I found it hard to really understand Clayton's issues because he sort of went back and forth. He said one thing and did another kind of. But mostly I felt he was a bad guy.
Lastly, it was a great read. It had all the qualities I want in a book and I might have to say it is possibly a new fave. It was perfect and beautiful.

The writing for me was kind of slow and filled with lots of details, but it was a good story even so. I loved the ending and I would read the second one for sure to find out what happened. I think the idea of a different time where people are being vaccinated so they don't fall in love is genius. And this story keeps you reading because you want to see if love can win out. I think this book did what it needed to do for me, its just a writing style that for me takes some getting used to. The story made you feel just like the characters, kind of sad and depressed. Anyone looking for a unique story line should check this series out. Its not full of romance or action, but it was written well and its heartfelt.(less)

The book in general was great because I got to see the change Christian made, and it was the way I would have wanted him to. In fifty shades darker you see that he isn't at all dark like you thought in the first story. I love that chapter by chapter he let go of all his demons and really dove head first into life. It was a beautiful thing. The ending was at first confusing, but then I was like holy sh%#!! This might have changed my mind about the next book (which I wasn't sure if I would read). I will say the author did an amazing job at creating such a character as Christian Grey. I really would like to see someone try and outdo him; I don't think it’s possible. And I honestly hope nobody tries. There is just something about Grey that is unlike anyone I have ever read about and will ever read about. He might be my favorite fictional character because I love how dysfunctional he is. As for Ana, well, she is annoying most times. I see that she loves him and is caring, but she also is overly stubborn and just has me shaking my head a lot. Some of the things she does or thinks are just over the top. She is either really smart or really stupid about life. I guess they level each other out though. My only gripe about the writing is the overuse of the word salacious and a few others, and also the inner goddess. I am hoping she packed it up and isn't around in book three. There are only so many times I can handle a description of an imaginary part of a book. I could have learned everything I needed to learn about Ana through Ana, I don't think it was essential to use this "inner goddess" to get the point across all the time. I think the second book will not disappoint readers. It was even more exciting than the first. It had a lot of great things going on. The last gripe I will mention is the amount of sex; I understand this is what the book is, and what drives a lot of readers wild about it. But at one point, I just felt like it was the same song and dance time and time again. I get that they both are into each other, but it would have been nice to see more to the story then how many ways he can bang Ana. If you’re looking for a steamy novel with a romantic side as well as one hell of a story and characters, then don't be a wuss and read these books. Its graphic and not for everyone, but I think if you give it a try you will understand its wonderful and less taboo then everyone makes it seem. If I come off picky with book two, well that’s because I was, I have a hard time reading anything if it doesn't do what I want it to, but that doesn't take away from the fact El James has created a great set of books that I am proud to have read as well as so many others. Great job! (less)
