This engaging fantasy opens with a bang - literally. The cleverly baited hook captures your imagination and pulls you into a riveting plot. This novel is well paced, and impossible to put down; I devoured the chapters. If you've ever read C.S. Lewis's series The Chronicles of Narnia, you will love Weiland's Dreamlander, with its adult cast. The rich tapestry of this epic fantasy, with its wonderful, imaginative creatures; kingdoms and worlds in crisis; is so meticulously crafted, it would come as no surprise if it rises to be counted as a classic. K.M. Weiland's imagination shows no bounds, the settings, mechanics, and characters are well developed; I fell in love with the endearing Rievers and the fearless Cherazii. The protagonist, Chris Redston, aka The Gifted, has a foot in both worlds. He believes his presence in the beautiful Lael - nothing more than a vivid dream, but the actions of a few, set off a cascade of dominos which threatens his existence and the lives of the ones he loves. With the help of Princess Allara The Searcher, her guardian Quinnon, and a cryptic Garowai, plus a host of fantastical characters, Chris works to put things right before all is lost.
I would give this book 6 stars if possible, and recommend you don't wait to pick it up.(less)

From the gorgeous cover to the last word, this book grabs your lapels and doesn't let go until it's done. This carefully crafted, political thriller is sharp, suspenseful, well researched and reflective of the world today.
I love the strong female protagonist Beth, a former agent cajoled back into service because of her unique qualifications, and the character dynamic between Beck, Gunner and Bull. Mr. Betcher has penned a sophisticated novel with multiple layers to keep you turning the pages well into the night. You are whisked away to exotic Egypt where the sights, smells and culture come alive with Mr. Betcher's descriptions. The reader is treated to some local flavors of Red Wing, Minnesota and introduced to a cast of well-developed, believable characters.
Mr. Betcher has out done himself with his current offering. This perfectly-paced thriller should be picked up by all desiring a great story and excellent writing. Highly Recommended. (less)

The book opens with a hot, erotic scene which leads the reader seamlessly back to how it all unfolded. The romantic weekend getaway the Tates had planned to rekindle their marriage, quickly turns into a vicious game of survival when Jesse, a psychopath who believes in his own omnipotence arrives on the scene. Intent on having his victims make him famous, he posts the brutal survivor games on the internet. An escalation in the online hits corresponds with an escalation in his twisted, homicidal competitions. The Fright Factory builds tension with every turn of the page, keeping the reader glued to the story. Character development is realistic and honest, and relationships are pushed to unimaginable limits. How far would you go to survive? This fast-paced, jaw-clenching, thrilling horror kept me reading well into the wee hours of the morning. If you crave excellent storytelling, vivid description and pulse pounding action, this is a must read. Make no mistake, this adult novel with adult language and content it is not a bedtime story, you will want to read it with the lights on and it is worth every second it keeps you awake! (less)

I love the illustrations and text on this colorful book. The author demonstrates one form of consequence which Sunshine Bunny Boy may receive if he did not treat his best friend Pooh with respect. She also explains a better way in which SBB may deal with his frustration and anger. The story will resonate with many parents and grandparents. The theme of the story centers on the Golden Rule, treat others the way you would expect to be treated. It is a message everyone should know. I think the author does a brilliant job of explaining consequence so youngsters may grasp the reality of their actions. (less)

As someone who suffers from dyscalculia, I have felt the baggage of shame, ridicule and fear. There is a persistent stigma that those people affected are less intelligent, when in fact, the opposite is true. The author does a beautiful job of explaining how the disorder may be interrupted through the eyes of a child, and how it can make that child feel. She lets the reader know the feelings associated with struggling to read are normal and a child should not be afraid to tell someone of their difficulty. It is wonderfully written with sensitivity and insight. The illustrations in this series are bright, engaging and fun. Ms. Olchawska centers on a theme of friendship and security. Her Mikolay and Julia series will delight and engage readers of all ages. I encourage you to pick up a copy. The special child in your life will thank you.(less)

I felt myself to be rooting for the main character Cassie. The author pens such vivid descriptions you cannot help but to be drawn into the moment. Although, not my preferred genre, if this is your style of literature, you will love this author's writing. It is eloquent, clear and vivid, you will not be disappointed. T. James utilizes his former profession to deal with a complex subject in a sensitive and insightful manner. This author is one to watch. (less)

It is estimated approximately one in every one hundred sixty-five children will be diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and one in every ten persons will be touched by autism in their lifetime. It is a life-long developmental disability with no definitive cause, which to date, has no cure; but there is treatment – there is hope.
Early signs of autism can be characterized by lack of eye contact, language deficits, behavioural signs, hand flapping, rocking, spinning objects and sensory issues, to name a few.
Every child is unique, the extent to which they are affected is also individual. If you are not living with autism, it is easy to miss the child and only see the diagnosis. The aim of this book is not to speak to autism as a disorder or to define it; there are many excellent references which address those specific topics. Neither will this book focus on serious behavioural issues, as these may be acutely obvious and do not necessitate clarification.
The book was written in an attempt to demonstrate, although outwardly, these children may appear different, but inside; where it counts – they are the same as you or me. Children with autism love, have an ego, feelings which can be hurt, a sense of humour, and even a mischievous side.
What you will find in these pages is a humorous and occasionally touching account of how a child with autism views the world. This is by no means a portrayal of how all autistic children experience the world, as every child is unique thus are their personal experiences.
This story gives a voice to anyone who is not considered in the mainstream. The theme of this story plays on our inherent need for comfort, confidence and connections. All which can be met with the realization of one good friend. Welcome to “The World According to August”
