Yeah, I know, don't judge a book by its cover.
Triton is a womanizer - and a Greek god. Oh, not to mention he's absolutely gorgeous and powerful. After seducing the king of the god's mistress, Triton is in big trouble. He's sent to roam around with the lowly mortals, his powers stripper, and he's forced to seek out a woman who will love him for who he truly is.
At first, I was worried this book would feel too cliche. I'll happily admit I was wrong. The plot wasn't lacking, the characters were fun and believable. The portrayal of the gods felt very accurate.
All in all this was a fun, well-written story and I'll definitely be checking out the next installment of the Out of Olympus series.(less)

What can I say? I absolutely loved this historical romance!
This is tender, well-written romance with a tantalizing plot. This is no sickeningly sweet love-at-first-sight romance, folks. We get our fill of deceit, a glimpse of Roman culture, and
A pertinacious pincess turned slave, a gentle and respectable General, and a sociopath second-in-command. All of the characters were believable and served their purpose. The character that really made this novel something special for me was Marcus. We watch him transform from a hardened General in the Roman army to a sweet, caring man in the presence of Ademeni. The best part? It never seems rushed or unbelievable.
I am not a major history buff, but I have studied enough of the Roman culture over the years and this book felt accurate in all aspects - war, slaves, and Gods.
Whether you are into Historical Romances or not, I am willing to bet you will have a hard time putting this one down!

I have not spent a lot of time reading historical novels in the past but I found myself intranced by this well-written story filled with floromancy, romance, and deceit.
I will admit the back flap of the book itself gave away a tad bit too much. I found myself able to put pieces together I might not have been able to if I hadn't read the synopsis.
Being new to historical novels, I found the amount of characters and the changes of names due to changing roles left my head spinning at times, but I maintained a good grasp of the main characters.
I absolutely loved the added element of floromancy. Loupas peppers the pages tastefully with words from the flowers and their meanings without ever feeling chessy or over-the-top. It was remarkably well-done!
I also loved the details of wardrobes and food, the smell of flowers and sea. The imagery made me feel like I was traveling alongside the Queen in Scotland myself.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.(less)

I was excited to get a glimpse of things from Rand's point of view. I just didn't realize we would be reliving the events from Toil and Trouble.
As always, I enjoyed the writing. The witticism and sarcasm will never grow old. I was just hoping for a teaser - an in-between, really - that would lead us right into book 3.(less)

Jolie Wilkins is a witty, sarcastic psychic. Well, until she found out she's a witch and her power is so strong she can reanimate otherworldy creatures. Now she's a witty, sarcastic witch who's about to join forces with her beloved Rand. A war is being waged between the faeries, vampires, werewolves, and witches. But is Jolie biting off more than she can chew?
I. Could. NOT. Put. This. Book. Down! I had the first book in this series in my TBR pile for entirely way too long. Once I read Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble, I knew I would immediately pick up the next books in the series. (Seriously, after this review is written I'm cracking open Witchful Thinking) This book picks right up where the first left off, and immediately sucks you in. It's chocked-full of superb character development, a thick plot, and a juicy love triangle.
The characters and the hilarious banter are what makes Ms. Mallory's books special. She has a way of making you laugh out loud at all her jokes, even when laughing out loud makes you look a little crazy. Jolie is one of my favorite characters in any book. Sure, she cries a lot. Wouldn't you if you were thrust into a strange new world?
I'd be lying if I didn't admit the lust triangle between Jolie, Rand, and Sinjin isn't incredibly entertaining. Tasteful triangles are hard to pull off, but like everything else - Ms. Mallory has done so perfectly. Although, I am wondering where this book will leave Sinjin and Jolie in book 3...
A wonderful book, which I cannot do justice with my review. (That, and I am really itching to crack open the next book!)(less)

This book started out rather slow for me and it never really picked up. I just couldn't fall in love with the characters like I have with other books. There were also some very obvious editing problems in this book, but I try not to be a stickler with that.
Although, I did absolutely love Darnell, the cat. He was a comical little addition to help ease your mind off of the sexual tension.
I also enjoyed Ms. Grayson's re-telling of the classic Sleeping Beauty story.
All in all, I liked this book. I just didn't love it. (less)

However, my least favorite book of the series was Haunted, which features Eve Levine. I wasn't sure about reading another story about this dark witch/half demon turned angel. But I knew I had to read it.
In this novella, Eve Levine proved to be a fascinating character with more layers than an onion. I love her character - cunning and tough.
My only complaint about it? It wasn't long enough! I would have loved to have this turned into another installment of the Women of the Otherworld Series.(less)

She drops everything to return to a place that once brought her happiness, Two Chimneys. But Leigh has no idea she'll meet the one person who can help her move on with her life. And she definitely has no idea what he is. An Alpha Werehound.
While this book started out slow for me, I quickly became engrossed. The budding romance between Leigh and Niles is sweet and keeps you on your toes. I'm not typically one to enjoy the whole "love at first sight" bit but this book incorporates that idea as tastefully as possible although at times it does feel rushed.
I especially love the characters and the hierarchy Ms. Cameron has created for her supernaturals, as well as the otherworld within our world. We get to see a bit of everything from vampires to werewolves and fairies. I'm hoping that in the next book the real friends and foe will be revealed.
All in all, I enjoyed this book and I'm looking very much forward to reading the second installment in this series.(less)

Beauty in the Beast was a beautifully written short story that will delight any reader. It's maybe be short but it's definitely sweet!
I'll admit that I judged this novella by its cover and it turned out to be much different than I had anticipated. Yet I still found myself deeply enthralled in the story of Tara, the storyteller, her friends, and the so-called beast.
The way Ms. Danse set up this novella, telling stories within a story was nothing short of genius. It was unique and her vivid descriptions make you feel as though you sitting in front of the fire, smelling the stew and the beast right alongside the storytellers. The characters are incredibly well-developed and this story leaves you wanting to see more of Tara and Rolf.
I mean, really, I want to know what happens next. (Ahem, Ms. Danse!)(less)

Someone has been carving the magical tattoos from bodies for years now, and Dakota finds herself in the middle of the investigation. And even worse, a target.
It took me a little bit to really get into this book, but after the first 50 pages I was hooked. Mr. Francis tells a unique and exciting story. We are transported into an "alternate Atlanta" where Edgeworlders don't hide in the shadows. Witches openly practice their magic and vampires are in charge of public relations.
We get to know a whole band of misfits - from vampires and weres, to magicians and ancient gods. The story is told from Dakota's point of view. She's a sassy six foot two chick covered in magical tattoos. At times, her ability to always find trouble reminded me of Sookie Stackhouse and got a little old. But in the end, I loved her character, and if she were real I'd be next in line to get one of her materpieces tattooed onto my skin. Like Dakota, Mr. Francis does an excellent job of making all of the characters unique and enjoyable. Even Spleen, the loyal sidekick with his yellowed eye and his rat-like features.
The best part of all is that this story is really a who-done-it with magical elements. It has me guessing until the very end. I honestly had no idea who was behind the distrubing tattoo snatching, and when it was revealed I has the typical "ohhhh that makes sense" moment.
All in all, a great story. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes mysteries or fantasy books.(less)

Herbology can be intimidating at first and a lot of books thrust you right into it without enough explanation and leave you feeling confused.
This book is set up wonderfully with a short preface we get a glimpse at the life of someone who understands herbs and their properties and uses them on a day to day basis, while remaining realistic about modern medicine. The book starts off by introducing herbs in an easy to understand fashion.
Before you know it we're into individual descriptions of what the author has classified as the essential "bakers dozen" of herbs. She spends time educating you on each of the thirteen herbs, outlining their uses and their effects on the body.
Then you get into the fun (yet still informative) stuff such as medicine making methods and easy to follow guidelines for making everything from an herbal poultice to capsules. She shares with us remedies and recipes that can prove to be useful and effective in every household.
This book will prove to be a great addition to any herbalists book collection or for anyone who wants a good introduction into herbs and their practical uses. It's informative, easily understood, and incredibly helpful.
Not to mention, reading Ms. Bellebuono's description of her time in the meadows and forests of North Carolina really inspires me to fill my garden with herbs this spring and do a little exploring of my own...and perhaps heal my dogs from all their mishaps with herbal remedies too. (less)

I'm a sucker for anything involving Egyptian Mythology. However, I typically have low expectations for novellas - they can be enjoyable but I normally long for more in-depth works. I also find myself loathing the typical fairytale endings found in so many romances.
Priestess of the Nile was truly an excpetion. This novellas encompasses Egyptian mythology, focusing on the crocodile God, Sobek, as well as introducing us briefly to other Gods. We also meet a Priestess named Merys. Merys is a kind girl despite her misfortunes with her stepfamily and her above average height hindering her ability to find a proper suitor. (Think Cinderella here.)
But her life changes the day she meets Bek on the beach under the moonlight. Ms. Scott tells a great romantic tale, that despite its fairytale ending is believable and sweet. It was a great little read that would be wonderful for anyone that like Egyptian tales, mythology, or just wants an evening to curl up with a nice, romantic tale.(less)

I read Taunt is just a few hours, not wanting to put my Nook down. I'm already gearing up to read the next installment in the Ava Delaney series.
The world that we are brought into is familiar yet new and intriguing. I loved every aspect of this novella - from the characters to the plot. It is well written and the banter between the main characters will have you laughing out loud.

Aimee Carter has done it again! I found myself unable to put this book down until I had gotten to the very last page. And now I find myself slipping into a mild depression knowing I can't get my hands on the third book yet.
We've all heard the story of Persephone and Hades. Just imagine trying to fill her shoes and win the affection of the ruler of the Underworld. That is exactly what Kate must do - she is married to Hades, or Henry as he now calls himself.
In this second book in the Goddess series, we see Kate thrust into the Underworld. As if that isn't enough, she gets to spend some quality time with her new husband's former Queen. The woman he loved for an eternity. The woman he still loves.
While Kate appears to be naive and childish, she is also undeniably strong and incredibly stubborn. You can't help but empathise with her character and root for her to overcome the challenges she faces. Kate is a well-formed character and her constant war of emotions will tug at your heart.
Henry. Oh, Henry. I can't say I've fallen in love with his character quite yet, but I'm getting much closer after this book. His lack of affection and mysterious ways irk me but just like Kate, it keeps me begging for more.
All of the other gods and secondary characters are well-formed. The war between Cronus, the Titan, and the Olympians adds just enough action to keep the book from containing too of being stuck in Kate's head. This book has a very well thought out plot.
Not to mention, the bombshell at the end will undoubtedly make any reader need to continue on with this series.

I enjoyed a glimpse at the Gods and Goddesses in this short story, instead of focusing on the Lords of the Underworld. Of course, I do love them too!
My only question is, will Ms. Showalters theme always be unlikely lovers that fall helplessly in love, experiencing feelings they've never felt before in their entire immortal lives? It seems to be a reoccurring theme.(less)

I'll start off by admitting after reading the summary, I wasn't too sure I would really be able to get into this book. Boy, was I wrong!
This book will remind you of a grittier, sexier version of Beauty and the Beast. By page 20, I couldn't put this book down. Ms. Callihan did a wonderful job of keeping us guessing in this paranormal murder mystery. And it sure doesn't fall short in the romance category either.
The book is based in London in the 1800's. The imagery is amazing and Ms. Callihan's vivid descriptions make you feel as though you are right there with the characters.
Miranda Fair is a firecracker. She's my type of girl - brave, bold, and beautiful. Lord Archer is mysterious, generous man whom you will be drawn to from the beginning. Have no fear, this is not your average love-at-first-sight-sickenling-sweet paranormal romances. This is a gritty Gothic romance that will leave you wanting more.
I can't wait to get my hands on the next installment of the Darkest London series, Moonglow.

It's Christmas Eve and a rare white cougar is on the prowl, and I'm not talking about a 40-something either. Niki is a shifter. But because of her rare breed she likes to blend in with her surroundings. Not wanting to spend another Christmas alone, she ventures out into comfortable surroundings: snow covered forests. She finds her way to a bar where she does anything but blend in.
Ms. Gayle packs a lot of lust into such a small amount of pages. I'm anxious to check out the other Shifter novellas and her Black Cougar trilogy.(less)
