This isn't gonna be a long review as i cant really remember much at the moment.. (silly me) But i do know one thing. Arthur was so sweet and perfect for Isobel. I LOVED the ending, how Arthur ended up saving her in the crash she had at the beginning. I really liked the idea of having all the people look the same and have the same names. Almost like an alternative reality. All in all, this was a great book and i enjoyed reading it. I'm gonna give this 7.5/10 as it wasn't my favorite goddess summoning book but i still loved it :) ...more

I knew that Pea was going to end up with Vulcan and that Venus would be with Griffin at the masquerade party. But i didn't know that Vulcan and Griffin's souls would be exchanged! That was a big shock to my system. I LOVED the ending, how it was Zeus and Hera who made the book that made Pea call upon Venus for help. This isn't my favorite in the series so far, i think that the goddess of spring will always be my favorite because Hades was so sweet. I give this book 8/10 :) it was a good read and kept me turning the pages considering i read in within a day haha :)...more

Took me a while to get through it all (started writing a new novel...again) but eventually i finished it and i loved the idea of this novel.
I feel that we really got to see Meghan at her best and i enjoyed Julie's style of writing once again. What i'm going to say next isn't a bad thing, necessarily. I feel that, because she writes in such detail, it can be a lot to take in at one time. That's why i think it took me a lot longer to read. I wanted to take everything in that she wrote.
The characters as always are lovely to read about. Especially Puck and i was really happy when him and Meghan kissed but i was even happier at the ending, which was pretty good :) So glad she chose to go with Ash but i have a feeling things aren't over between her and Puck yet.
I actually felt sad when Ironhorse died, i really liked him in this book and as always Grim was very funny.

The way Kimberly writes makes everything so mysterious and intense. Like the first one, there were certain scenes that made my heart pound and there were others where i literally said "Awww" outloud because Jay and Violet are just so sweet!! Perfect for each other! I love how he always protects her but i hated it when they fell out even though i knew they would make up eventually :) Megan was a confusing character because I really thought she was the one who had killed the cat, dog and whatever else Violet suspected. I also felt sorry for her at the end because she found out her dad had killed her mom. I think that Rafe is kind of Psychic but I am hoping (fingers crossed) that Kimberly will write a third book because this series is just too good to leave it there. At first i thought that there was something wrong with Sara, who Violet thought was the FBI, but it turned out she just wanted to help and i REALLY want to find out more about what she actually does. My guess it's for people with special abilities. Anywayy...this book gets a massive thumbs up from me and I give it 10/10 because it was just that good!! Can't wait for a third one (here's hoping) :D...more
Well this book had imagination and a heck of a lot more going for it. Trolls....now that is something I’ve never heard of before and it was genius!! IWell this book had imagination and a heck of a lot more going for it. Trolls....now that is something I’ve never heard of before and it was genius!! I love it when authors think of something new that hasn’t been done before and this book captured me. If you’re wondering why I’m giving this book lots of praise but not five stars then here’s you’re answer...There wasn’t a lot of character development but don’t let that steer you away from this incredible book. Because it has so much more to offer.
When Wendy Everly was six years old her mother tried to kill her, claiming that she wasn’t her child. Since then Wendy has felt out of place and different. But after she notices the new boy, Finn, staring at her in class she knows something is up. And when she is attacked and saved by Finn she finds out why she is different but also special. She is a changeling, someone who was switched with a human.. She is a troll to be exact or as they like to be known, Trylle. Wendy is whisked away to a secret place where she finds out that she is a Princess and she needs to be protected. But there is so much that Wendy doesn’t know and no one will tell her. There is so much in store for Wendy but at least she has Finn....right?
I loved the idea (as I mentioned before) but I also liked the character of Wendy. There wasn’t a lot of development but I loved the fact that she cared about her host family and didn’t want them to worry about her. She kind of knew what she wanted but there was one thing she was certain about. She needed Finn in her life.
Finn was so sweet, what with her saving him but there was also a forbidden romance as he is a Tracker and they are below royalty. But the ending...oh the ending was oh so sweet but then something happened that just defeated the purpose of that happy ending. I was not happy. But I am looking forward to the rest of the series to see how their relationship develops.
There were some other good characters and I want to know more about her real mother in the future of the book. But overall this book was great and I thoroughly enjoyed it all. And Amanda left it on a good ending which I thought was good as it kind of ended the story well but left a question lingering. What will happen next?? Well I can’t wait for the second to come out in February/March....more

It was amazing and had me tensed all the time, just waiting for someone to be found or for what the killer might do. The love story between Violet and Jay was so intense and i was just waiting until the moment they would be together and it was so sweet. I loved the fact that Jay was just waiting for her to relise that they would be together and that Violet thought he was so dense that he couldn't notice. I love Kimberly's style of writing and the parts that were about the serial killers had my heart racing as they hunted down the girls. This was a great read and i thoroughly enjoyed. When i said I was on the last chapter to read, I would end up reading another two or three. This book is so addictive so be warned. I give this book 9/10 as it was just brilliant!...more

I've been meaning to read it for ages and honestly I don't know why I left it for so long. It was friggin' amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The characters and plot of the story just amazed me and i loved the idea that Julie had. Especially about the Iron Fey. I found that interesting and unique. Ash...Well what can i say? At first i was unsure about him but when he was with Meghan in the Iron Fey land I fell in love with him. It was so sweet that he was always saving Meghan and the kiss that they shared was beautiful and perfect. I laughed when Ash saved her from the satyrs. I especially loved this part... "This one," Ash growled, "is off-limits" ...and also this one... "Touch her. and I'll freeze your testicles and put them in a jar. Understand?" That really did make me laugh haha :D I though that Grim was awesome and Puck...he was just too funny. I have a feeling that he likes Meghan but i guess i'll find out in the other books. I'm not really Team anyone yet because so far Ash seems to be the only one who likes Meghan but I guess i'll just have to wait and see. Didn't know he would turn out like that haha :) (you'll have to read it to find out though) Chloe was a great character and there were a lot of mysteries wrapped up in this 392 page book. I actually cringed a little when Chloe made those dead people come back to life, it was horrible!! But the description was great. The last few chapters had me in suspense because they had to get out and they were being chased. I loved books like that. Couldn't believe the ending though when her Aunt betrayed her!! I knew that all the kids would have supernatural gifts but ya know...You never know for sure. This book blew me away. it made me smile sometimes, i was scared for them, i held my breath waiting for the next bad thing to happen and i even criedThis book blew me away. it made me smile sometimes, i was scared for them, i held my breath waiting for the next bad thing to happen and i even cried when Travis died and became an unconsecrated (and i never cry so it shows how much of an impact this book had on me as a reader). I've never read a book quite like this and it was a refreshing read. Carrie's writing just drew me in and i felt like i was living Mary's life and seeing everything as she sees it. I wasn't just reading this book, i was living it!
I thought that mary as a character was interesting and the problems that surrounded her kept me intrigued, even when she went into the sisterhood. It was good to read about a character who wasn't always obsessing over the guy she loves and who wanted to believe in something bigger, like reaching the ocean. The friends and family that surrounded her helped her make the decisions that changed her life.
i found the place it was set in, The forest of hands and teeth village, very intriguing and i loved reading about the paths and gates that they took to make their escape. Then the village that they went to (with a whole lot of unconsecrated)was great to read about. Especially the houses in the trees that whad bridges between them. It was so tense when the unconsecrated broke into Travis and Mary's house and i found myself holding my breath to find out what happened.
The fire that happened even later was such a shock to my system. Especially what followed. The death of Travis was so sad and i found myself actually crying for Mary because i felt her feelings as my own. That rarely happens to me and it shows how great this book really is. Then I couldn't quite believe it when jed fell into the river from the canyon and Mary washed up on the beach by herself. She lost everything to get there but i have a feeling that we might see Jed again.
Overall this book was a great read and i thoroughly enjoyed it. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book, the dead-tossed waves, and i am excited to see what happens next in Mary's story :) I'm giving this 9.5/10!! As close to perfection as a novel can get :D...more

I liked that it was dark and kinda creepy at partsI really liked this book even thought the overall ratings for it are quite low compared to others. I liked that it was dark and kinda creepy at parts and I surprisingly liked the cliché romance it had. The dark guy warning the girl away from him. One bit that creeped me out was the faceless beings...talk about chills. But at the end something happened I didn’t expect and that is making me want to read the second very soon.
Theia dreams of a man falling from the sky on fire but what she doesn’t expect is him to turn up as the new guy at school, Haden Black, who is undeniably dark and handsome. Theia has always been secluded and overprotected but now she is getting a taste of darkness and is drawn to the Haden in both her dreams and real life. But when she finds out what he is she knows she can’t stay away, even when he tells her to.
I really liked seeing the world from Theia’s point of view. It’s always good to have a character lead an overprotective life and watch them slowly rebel. Another cool thing about her is that she is English, well she was born in the States but moved to England after he mother passed away. But then she moved back and attends school there. She has some GREAT friends that had me laughing so hard at times.
Haden was just hot, dark and brooding....THE clichéd guy but that made him great. Maybe that’s why some people didn’t like this book, because its too clichéd but I liked that about it. Made it interesting but familiar at the same time. He was a bit of a jerk at times and I wanted to smack sense into him but all ended well....kinda. But to find out you’ll have to read it for yourself.
This book was creepy and well-written and I can’t wait to start reading the second one soon!...more

I adore Greek mythology and it’s my favourite part of history to learn about. I love any mythology really because I love finding out about different cultures beliefs with their Gods and Goddesses by Greek mythology is one of my favourites! So when I found this book, based on Hades – one of my favourite Greek Gods – I knew I had to get it. There are some amazing Greek mythology novels out there, some of my favourites being the Goddess Summoning series by P. C. Cast and now The Goddess Test is apart of that special VIP group!!
Kate and her mother move to Eden, a request made by her mother as her last dying wish. There she enrols at Eden High and once there a prank is pulled which goes horribly wrong. But there is a good point as it leads her to meet a dark, handsome and mysterious stranger named Henry. He offers Kate a deal that she can’t afford to turn down, but is it too good to be true? After her life is thrown into chaos and the choices she makes will decide the fate of everyone around her.
This book had everything and I mean EVERYTHING! It has danger, sacrifice, mystery, heartache, romance, betrayal, suspense and best of all it is based on one of my favourite Greek tales of all time: Hades and Persephone. If everyone had the kind of imagination Aimee Carter had then...I’d be lost for words (I would also fall madly in love with every book). This novel felt real and I could relate to the characters (I even had tears in my eyes).
Kate was a beautiful character and she was so strong with all the obstacles she had to overcome and no matter how hard it got she kept on going. I could appreciate her for who she was and what she did and I connected with her. And Henry...my lovely Henry. I fell in love with him and I loved that he was Hades. He was such an amazing character and was very lovable too. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him as well for all he’s been through with his past and I was so happy when they met!
I think I knew how it would end but the problem was, Aimee kept throwing us all these twists and turns and I found myself thinking ‘Is the ending I want going to happen?’ or ‘NO! That can’t be happening!’ But this book was amazing and nothing disappointed me. I found my heart faltering on certain bits, afraid of what was going to happen, and at one point I actually cried! And crying is a big thing for me because I never do it.
I would recommend this to anyone who loves Greek Mythology and tales of love that’s so strong because this book is amazing. I cannot wait until 2012 when I get to read the next book, Goddess Interrupted. I wonder what will happen next for Henry and Kate :) ...more

And when thiWhen I heard that Kimberly Derting was having a new series published I was very excited because I absolutely LOVE her Body Finder series. And when this book arrived I had to get into it. It took me a while to finish this book and I’d like to say that that was down to me being too busy but in reality I did lose interest in this book a little bit. I will read the next ones in the series but I prefer her other series. So for that I am dropping a star.
This book is set in the future in a country called Ludania and within it the people are dived by what language you speak. If suddenly someone starts talking to you who is above you in their language you aren’t allowed to acknowledge them or you will be executed for all to see. But Charlie can understand all languages and when she meets a mysterious guy called Max who holds many secrets and speaks a language she has never heard before she is instantly intrigued. But there is something different about Charlie and she’s about to find out just what that is.
Considering that this is a dystopian novel I was surprised to find a paranormal element within it and also a lot of political content which I actually enjoyed surprisingly. There are many twists within this and the characters are loveable apart from The Queen. Now, she was one evil villain and I think that Kimberly did a great job by making us hate her from the first page. This is a different dystopian novel as it has a monarchy ruling and I found that interesting.
Most of the story is from Charlie’s point of view and I loved that. But we also got to see the story from the Queen, Max and some other characters point of view. And the title ties in well with a scene between Charlie and Max which I loved!
Because I loved the Body Finder series so much I think I was expecting a lot from this book and in a way I feel that I set my standards a little too high. Don’t get me wrong, this book is amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed it but it’s hard to right another book that lives up to the other ones. I think a lot of authors have that problem but it doesn’t necessarily mean that the authors are bad at writing.
Overall I enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to read the next one in the series. There’s a bit of romance which I loved, action and I just thought that it was a good dystopian book so fans of that genre should love this book too! ...more
When I finished this book the first thing I thought was....April, 2012!!?? I can not wait that long for Pure, the second instalment, to come out! I need that book right now but I know that it isn’t possible.
Wow. Freakin’ wow. I didn’t know how to start this review off but I think that is a pretty good beginning. I honestly don’t have any words to describe this book. It took my breath away and had me hooked from the first page.
When I first saw the cover I thought, well that looks pretty, I’ll check out the synopsis. And once I’d read that I knew that I’d have to have it. Thank god for The Book Depository because without it I wouldn’t have this book. This book is definitely one of my favourite reads this year and right now, April seems really far away but at least it’s near my birthday!! :D
Half-Blood tells the story of Alex, a seventeen year old Half-Blood who has just returned to the covenant after her mother was murdered by a daimon. She has missed nearly three years of training as her mother took her away, but Alex is thrown into the deep end and begins training with Pure blood Aiden, a very gorgeous Pure blood indeed. And Alex is instantly attracted to him. But relationships between halfs and pures are forbidden. Alex knows that but she doesn’t care. Not even about the consequences which are extreme and can ruin her. But when someone she thought was dead comes back to has to face the realization that it’s either kill or be killed. And the heartache begins...
I would just like to say thank you to Jennifer L. Armentrout for creating this beautiful start to a series and for making me fall in love with her book!! I has everything I love in a book. Danger, action, suspense, thrills and forbidden romance. What kept me turning the pages were the cliff-hangers and the twists and turns that graced the pages.
I love Greek Mythology so much and this was a great take on it. Not once was I confused or lost with all the information and I could imagine that it was real. It felt real. Especially the characters. Alex was amazing to read about. She made me laugh quite a few times and she is smart, cocky, and brave but she also has a heart and loves to do things her own way. Even if they’re not the right way. I wished I could live as her just for one day to see what it would be like and to be with Aiden....my Mr. Perfect! I fell in love with him instantly and is one of my favourite YA guys!! He’s very stubborn when it comes to Alex and her safety but he is also sweet, kind and loving. I could write so many good things about him and it wouldn’t be enough. I really want them to be together and I hate the stupid rule for getting in the way. Some of the scenes between them actually took my breath away and I loved every second of it.
More characters that I love include Caleb, Alex’s best friend who would do anything for her (a plus) and the mysterious Appolyon, Seth. The twist that Jennifer has put in including Alex and Seth shocked me. I kind of saw it coming but it was still a shock. A good and interesting shock. I cannot wait to see how it develops and changes.
If Pure is anything as good as Half-Blood then I am going to be blown away all over again :D Jennifer’s style of writing captivated me and always kept me wondering. I am so looking forward to finding out how Alex, Aiden and Seth’s stories will shift and change throughout this wonderfully crafted series :) ...more

This book was great!! Loved her style of writing and the idea of the story. P.C. Cast's goddess summoning series got me into all the greek mythology stuff and this book just blew me away. The idea was genious and very clever. Loved the idea of the different houses and the family feuds they all have. Helen was a great character and i actually thought it was quite funny in the beginning how she wanted to kill Lucas all the time. But then he saved her and it was sweet and adorable from then on. I loved all of Lucas's family members, especially Hector but I couldn't believe what happened later on with Creon!! I still can't believe that he's an outcast!! And what shocked me even more was when Daphne came back (Helen's mum "Beth") and when Helen told Lucas that they were cousins so they can't be together. But then i knew it wasn't true when Pandora said that Helen had turned seventeen and Ajax (supposed dad instead of Jerry) had died nineteen years ago. Knew it was a lie and now I know what Daphne is planning but the thing i don't get is why Lucas said she was telling the truth. Something's up?? I really want Helen and lucas to get back together properly. They are just so perfect and sweet for each other. LOVED the idea that Lucas's real name was supposed to be Paris, like the one who Helen of Troy ran away with and who she loved. So cute!! I had high expectations for this book and it accomplished every one!! It had cluffhangers, romantic parts, funny parts, made me shocked, happy, sad and angry. This book offered everything and i am thoroughly looking forward to reading the next one. I am giving this book 9/10 :)...more

It captured me from the beginning and i couldn't put it down for a second! Such a beautiful Debut Novel from such a talented author. Lauren's style of writing is beautiful. The way she describes scenes is magnificent be it the gardens of Linden's house or the dark and eerie parts that are haunting. I feel like i am there with Rhine, feeling everything she feels, noticing everything she notices.
The concept of this book was brilliant. The idea of females dying at 20 and males dying at 25 because of a genetic flaw was so interesting to read about. The charcter of Rhine was great to read about and i felt like i truly knew her and understood what she was going through; being taken away from her only family member -her twin brother- and forced into a marriage with three other girls.
All of the characters in this book were carefully thought out and i liked them all, the exception being Vaughn who i did not like. Cecily was bubbly and fun being only 13 years old and she was excited to be living that kind of life. Jenna resented Linden for taking her away from her sisters who were killed by the gatherers. And Linden...I felt sorry for him when Rose died and i could understand him, wanting the best for his wives.
When Jenna became ill I felt sorry for her because she was supposed to have a year left and i think in the second book we might find out what went wrong. But my best guess is that Vaughn did something to her that made her death happen quicker.
As the book progressed towards it's ending i could feel myself waiting for the moment that Rhine and Gabriel (one of the attendants at the house) would break free from that house. And i was so happy when they kissed and that now they are together. And when they finally did break free i breathed a sigh of relief. I love that there is hope at the end and that Lauren uses the lighthouse again (the first to show the way out) to tell us that they are unsure of where their freedom will take them.
Overall this book was magnificent and i enjoyed every word of it! I haven't read a lot of Dystopian novels before but i am starting to enjoy them a lot and of the ones i have read, this goes right to the top of the list. The description was beautiful in this book and i especially loved the part about the hologram in the pool. And that when Rhine went to the bottom of the pretend ocean floor she felt the bottom of the pool. It showed that everything is fake and there is no escaping that fact, no matter how many illusions there are.
Lauren DeStefano is an amazing author and i look forward to her next installment in the Chemical Garden Trilogy :) This book recieves a whopping 10/10!! :D...more

It has left me wanting more, even though I know there is a long wait and that fact is killing me right now. I loved the story Moulton has created and the characters that I have grown to love. Angelfire is full of action (heaps of it), humour, thrills, suspense and romance. What more can you ask for? I have a feeling that this may be my favourite Angel book of the year. It was epic and intense. A great read for any YA lover!
Ellie is normal, she hangs out with her friends and she lives with her mum and dad. But she a problem when she sleeps. Gruesome images cover her thoughts of creatures called reapers, who take human souls and sent them to hell. But on the night of her seventeenth birthday she meets the handsome Will, who is dark and mysterious. But then Ellie gets some info that shocks her. She is an ancient warrior called the Preliator, the only one who can wield angelfire, and who has been reincarnated for thousands of years, destined to fight evil. Then she finds out that a Reaper, one who has killed her before, has been sent after her. But as Ellie tries to keep her social life going, Will finds out some shocking information. Bastian, the one who has sent the reaper after he, if searching for something so evil that it could destroy Ellie once and for all.
When I first heard about Angelfire I wondered, what’s it going to be like? I looked at some peoples’ reviews and mostly they were very positive which made me feel much better about buying this and I’m so glad I did. I love the cover so much which is meant to be of Ellie, the main character.
Things started off slow but soon picked up again when Will entered.....Will :) He made my hart flutter a few times. He was annoying at times (something all guys are) and I was rooting for him to get with Ellie and I can’t say I was disappointed ;) The description of the action scenes was great and it was different to read a novel that had a lot of fighting scenes in it. But I enjoyed it.
Ellie as a character was quite strong and I really liked her. She’s not my favourite female heroine but it was great to read about her. I think that the background and story info that we got was unique and different. Although the reincarnation stuff did remind me a little of the Fallen series by Lauren Kate but never mind. I preferred this book wayyy more!!
