She is everything I abhor in female-lead characthers: measures women's intelligence based on their appearences, thinks that everything related to women is stupid and doesn't have a single friend (Zee doesn't count, she was just an old-lady working in the police department and there's that ).
Will was a nice addition, but the author created such absurd features about him (Tai Chi naked in the middle of the florest? Super strenght and speed? My ass) made him unreal. I couldn't really like Will.
The only characther I loved was the old German guy. And he was the key to the story development.
I have so many mixed feelings about Blue Moon......more
I abhorred this book so much I gave up reading it and I'm still pretty shocked this book was published AT ALL.
Anne's writing is boring and the worldI abhorred this book so much I gave up reading it and I'm still pretty shocked this book was published AT ALL.
Anne's writing is boring and the world she built was terrible and confusing. I get it, it's high fantasy but this does not mean a sloppy creation and, although the readers don't have to KNOW everything about that world, at the very least, they need to UNDERSTAND it. But I could've dealt with that just fine if her characters were super cool. It's a shame they were not. Let me tell you what they were: they were whiny, boring and disgusting and, oh, they had stupid names.
But what made me gave up the book was the paedophilia and that's also the reason I couldn't (and can't) understand why this book was published in first place and has so many praises. The funny thing (actually, it is not funny) is that goodreaders are romaticizing it saying "it is nice to read book with reverse harem" or "it's so romantic". Shit, why can't people see Jaenelle is a fucking TWELVE-YEAR-OLD girl?? What is WRONG with you people??
In the book, Daemon justifies his love and the fact that he's excited about a little girl by saying he's not attracted to her body but to her soul. Let me tell you something, pedophiles legitimize their actions saying things like that. This is not funny, this is not cool, this is not sexy and this not romantic. AT ALL.
And he KISSED her. That was just creeping. Scratch that, the WHOLE BOOK was.
Yeah, this book conceals paedophilia as high fantasy but no matter how you try to called it, paedophilia is paedophilia.
I read 2/3 of the book because I had to review it but I got so disturbed after reading some reviews at Amazon (the paedophilia is worse than I imagined and there's graphic child rape), I gave up and I'll never read Anne Bishop in my life....more
