After their mother's death, Cate is left in charge of teaching them magic and how to harness it. What Cate doesn't know is that her mother was keeping secrets from her, secrets that she doesn't find out until it is too late. Now Cate must find a way to save herself and her sisters from the Brotherhood, the Sisterhood, and especially each other because if the prophecy is true, than one sister's magic will get so strong she won't be able to control it.
Born Wicked reminds me what the Salem Witch Trials were like, women getting accused of witchery just because they are eccentric. Cate finally finds the one man that she wants to marry only to have it ruined because the Sisterhood is blackmailing her to join them in their fight against the Brotherhood. Cate has a mind of her own, but she will do anything to save her sisters even if that means giving herself over to the Sisterhood to use for their own use, even if it means losing Finn forever....more

After not spending five years in Lake Phoenix at their summer house, Taylor's family decides to spend the last summer up there. Taylor has her own reasons why she doesn't want to go back. First there's Henry, her first boyfriend at the age of 12 who she wants to forget but can't seem to and then there is Lucy, the best friend that she left without any explanation. This trip back up to Lake Phoenix will teach Taylor how not to run from her fears and will give her a second chance with her family and who knows, this summer might turn out the be the best or the worst of times.
I thought Morgan Matson's first book, Amy and Roger's Epic Detour, was amazing so it is no surprise that I loved Second Chance Summer, too. Second Chance Summer was the perfect summer read, but if you are like me, very emotional, you may want to steer clear of the last part of the book if you are ever in public. It will leave you bawling, believe me. As soon as I thought all the sad things were gone, I would read some more, only to find myself crying again!...more

The Princesses of Iowa mostly tells the story of the consequences of drinking and driving. In the beginning all Paige talks about is what happened last spring, and I'm thinking "what the f*** happened last spring that could get her exiled to France and make her friend crippled" but we finally learn half of the truth through Paige's journal assignments for her creative writing class, where she also meets Ethan.
I think Ethan was a way better friend to Paige than Jake ever was. First off, Ethan didn't make fun of anyone that didn't look like him or was into the same activities as him, and Ethan didn't run over a poor raccoon! And Paige's mon was a complete b*tch. She was one of those mothers that didn't care about her daughter's problems, all she cared about was the "image". You had to act the right way, dress the right way and hang out with the right people. At first I was kind of annoyed with Paige. She just seemed so whinny, complaining about her summer in Paris watching some family's kid while her friend was in the hospital getting surgery and learning to walk with a cane. She was so caught up in her own mess that she didn't stop to think about the people around her. But as the story progresses and Paige spends more and more time with Shanti and Ethan and less time with her old friends, she becomes a better person who even her sister wants to hang out with.
I absolutely adored The Princesses of Iowa!!!...more

I was expecting it to be in Harper's point of view, but no, it was told in Trevor's and I think it made it that much better. Through Trevor we still knew what Harper was feeling which was awesome. I loved Trevor's character. He was different after he came back from Afghanistan, which is good because in my opinion it wouldn't be real if he didn't come back a changed man. Something Like Normal was a fast read, but I feel as if I really connected with the readers because it felt so real and even though their feelings blossomed quickly, it seems like it was always there underneath the surface and was just waiting for the right moment to surface, which it did that night at the bar, after Harper punches Trevor in the face (in my opinion, he totally deserved that!). But even with the mistakes that Trevor made, I still think that he is a really great guy!...more

It's one of those books that grabs you the moment you start it and doesn't let go. One Moment is one of those stories that had me bawling from the beginning. With everything that happened to Maggie I found myself rooting for her, hoping everything would work out perfectly, and it does, eventually. Now I know that it is wrong to hate a dead person, but Joey was a total jerk, keeping all of those secrets from Maggie, the girl he supposedly loved. Besides the fact that I hated Joey, I thought that this book was really good....more

Wicked Jealous reminded me a little of Sydney White (with Amanda Bynes). It was funny and sweet and Simone was awesome. The only thing I wasn't fond of was all the references to French movies that I didn't understand at all. I loved Simone's sense of style. It sounded very unique and I think that she would have been a very interesting person to meet. ...more

When she hears about a new girl, Miranda, that is coming to school, Olive thinks that she would like to meet this mysterious girl who, according to rumors, killed her parents. But when Olive finally meets Miranda, she knows something is really wrong. Miranda is not normal. In the beginning, Miranda begins to befriend the most popular girl in school, Katie, and pretty soon it seems like Miranda is trying to suck out Katie's life like a parasite. When Olive finally lets people in on what she thinks, she is convinced that she is wrong, until Miranda starts acting the same way to Olive and there is only one person who can keep Olive strong to fight Miranda, Lachlan.
I don't really read psychological thrillers, but when I heard about this one it sounded really interesting so I figured I would give it a shot. The scenes with Miranda were really creepy, it was like she was watching Olive all the time. Lachlan sounded really sweet. It sucks that at first Olive was pushing him away because she thought that he knew about her past and that he was just being sympathetic and making fun of her because, she didn't think that a guy like him would ever have real feelings for a girl like her. But I'm glad that she finally believed that he could really like her because she sounds like a really interesting person.
Shift is the prefect story for readers who like thriller-edge-of-your-seat stories. ...more
