And even then, I was pissed that I slept when I could have been finishing this story.
This story HURTS.
I'm still hurting.
Tomorrow, i'll probably still be hurting.
I'm sort of a jumbled mess of thoughts and emotions and even though I know what I FEEL about this book, i'm not sure how to actually SAY it.
This book is manipulative. The main character is a bitch. She does things you'd never in a million years DO. Or maybe you would. Because you sort of understand why she's doing it. You get her behavior, her actions- no matter how screwed up they might be. And... and... I don't know. This book is messy. With lies, manipulation and angst throughout (not to mention some LOL lines of dialogue along the way)- but it's not an over the top cheesy romance with a happy ending all tied up in a perfect little bow (you know, the way mine are. LOL)... it's REAL.
About how sometimes life is messy. Relationships are messy. People are messed up. We do stupid shit. We ruin things. We try to fix them. We run away. We lose things that matter. We want them back.
It's hard to get them back.
Life isn't always rainbows and butterflies. No matter how much I want them to be. It's not the truth.
This book's truth hurts my heart. And when you read it (because really, how can you NOT?!?!) it will hurt yours too. (less)

I'm really not sure what else to say, or how else to describe it. It was a story about love, loss, life, grieving, moving on, accepting, relationships, sacrifice, love, love and did I mention love? :) This story flowed well- was written very naturally and had GREAT characters. All of them! This book was truly beautiful. I can't wait to read the next one. (less)

What I mean is- it's REALLY freaking good. :)
This book was an emotional read at times. I felt like it was a very honest, easy to read (the dialogue flowed... the character interactions felt natural... the characters were easy to relate to), wonderfully touching book. A very sensitive and difficult topic that I think was written extremely well and extremely honestly. I will admit that there were times when I was DYING for Gray to hurry up and tell her his role in things already- I wanted that out and it felt like I had to wait forever for it to come, but other than that- I find it hard to find any true "faults" with this book. Very touching story. Tear inducing for REAL reasons- not made up, bullshit, fairy tale ones. It's a beautifully written book.
Anne Eliot- GREAT JOB. And also, can I please just be thankful that this was the first book in what feels like forever wasn't a series... I was really happy to read something that didn't end with a cliffhanger. :)

This book was gifted to me (thank you Trish!!!) otherwise i'm not sure I would have had the time to buy it and read it myself. Thankfully, I didn't have a choice in the matter!
Not normally a fan of the descriptive (I know, i'm weird. but if you've ever read any of my books than you know i'm descriptively challenged lol), I found myself drawn in to the description and loving everything I read- probably because I was invested in the story and the characters.
I really liked the main characters. I cannot emphasize enough how impressed and thankful I am to see a woman character who I not only liked, I actually CARED about. I'm so tired of reading books where the guy is the only character who is written well and is appealing. It's one thing to pine over a fictional man as a reader, but it's another when you actually enjoy the female lead as well. I liked Joss. I understood Joss.. and I really, freaking loved how the author kept Joss true to her character throughout the entire book. She wasn't this flawed, closed off person before she meets Braden and then suddenly he changes her world, the skies open up and rainbows shoot outta her butt. No, she's still flawed and closed off. I LOVED THAT! I loved the authenticity. I loved it so hard, I wish I could find another word for love. lol
Braden was smoking hot. I loved their chemistry... I loved his attitude and I loved everything he did for her.
I really enjoyed this freaking book and I'm so happy to see most of the world is loving it too!!!!!!! So proud! Totally recommend to pretty much anyone with a gyna. lol :) (less)

I've read some of the other reviews where people didn't like how the love between Ian & Riley happened so quickly. I guess I just find it ironic that people choose to buy into a love story happening WITH a ghost, but it just can't happen fast? LOL Haven't we all met someone who sparked our interest, or made us feel things immediately, without any rhyme or reason? Or been drawn/pulled toward someone we just met? Things like that can and do happen everyday, so that part of the story didn't seem far fetched or unreal to me at all. But then again, I fully believe in ghosts, spirits, communicating with the "dead" and all that kind of stuff. :) Plus, when we're teenagers, EVERYTHING happens in warp speed...especially our feelings for boys. I liked their story. I felt emotionally pulled toward it. And I was sad for Riley when it had to (obviously) end.
Aside from the love story, I really liked the relationship between Riley and her brother Shane. I loved how he grew throughout the story to mend their fractured relationship and how, when it truly mattered, he wanted to protect and defend her. He's a great character who I hope will be more involved in the rest of the series! :)
I'm definitely interested to hear more about Laria and what the hell her problem really is. She was an interesting character, but I feel like we still have a lot to learn about her.
Overall, I really, really enjoyed this book and loved being brought into a new world with castles, history and characters who believed in the spirit world and the presence of ghosts. I can't wait to read the rest of this series! (less)

This one has been my least favorite so far (if i can even say that phrase accurately), but here's why- :)
Eden, now having to lead the Rebellion is full of piss and vinegar. She's bitter, angry and filled with revenge. I just prefer the non revenge/hateful filled Eden better. Don't get me wrong, I understand completly why she's so pissed off, but it's just sad and I hate that the anger has blinded her.
And then there's Jericho- while I like him, think that he's awesome and stuff- I am a LOYAL person. And well, I want Eden with Kiran! Jericho is safe. And I love how the author tried to explain really rationally why Jericho was a good match for her- pointing out lots of healthy, well accepted reasons for their relationship, BUT SCREW THAT! lol I want Kiran and Eden together!!! I'm a sucker for soulmates and I don't believe that Kiran is bad. (please be right, please be right, please be right)
And AVALON! I didn't realize how much I enjoyed the "twin connection" until it was gone for an entire book! I really missed their interaction and the funny lines of dialogue while other things outside of their minds were going on.
It's a lot of buildup for what's to come in the next book, but not in a slow feeling way. It's still exciting, things still happen, emotions are still pulled from the reader.
Basically, the instant I finished this book I bought the last one. And i'm trying to read it slow because I know how sad I'm going to be when this series is over.
Rachel- I love the dialogue you have written and the characters you've made us love. Who knew that I'd actually like Sebastian after the last book? This is a stunning series that I can absolutely see as movies. You rock! :)(less)

Wanderdust was a creative and entertaining time travel novel. The characters were well developed and extremely likeable. I love the main character Sera and i'm already IN LOVE with her love interest, Bishop. :)
We're introduced to a new world, right along with the main character Sera. There is a lot of information that at times is a bit overwhelming, but the author explains it well with the action scenes that follow. Normally, i'm not a huge fan of overly descriptive books- but Michelle wrote her descriptions into the action. It's not about having a pretty blue sky for no other reason than having a blue sky. When Michelle describes something, it's relevant to the story and will most likely affect what comes next in the scene. I loved that! She also wrote in such a way that it was easy for me to visualize what she described.
I've never read anything quite like this before and honestly, I think it would make an amazing movie. Think Harry Potter- new world, new kind of magic, great characters, great story...
We still have a lot to learn with the next 2 books, but i'm excited to see where Sera's adventures are taking her- and I'm dying to have all the answers to my questions answered. :)(less)

I loved this last book (mostly because it ended EXACTLY HOW I WANTED IT TOO)! hahaha! But if it had gone a different way, I would have felt freaking awful.. probably would not be able to sleep tonight and my whole life would be ruined. lol The only thing that made me crazy was how long it took for what I wanted to happen, TO FINALLY HAPPEN! And it's because I was freaking DYING for it to happen (and I have no patience) that I was dying the whole time reading this.... waiting to GET TO IT ALREADY BEFORE I COMBUST! lol
Rachel did a fantastic job with the characters in this series- in the end she made you like everyone you "needed" to like. She answered every question you could have possibly had. She wrote wonderful characters and created a world that haunts me in my dreams each night. Great, entertaining, WONDERFUL story!! Cannot wait to see what she comes up with next. Although if she wrote a story about Kiran sleeping for weeks, i'd probably read every word. LOL (less)
