Why double your pleasure when you can quadruple it by having four sexy warriors in the bed? Phoebe has been pining over Andy, Jude, DC and Reed. So when she is presented with the opportunity to act on those feeling she hops on to the closest hard surface and makes herself more than accessible to the men.
When I began this story I worried that I would get the characters confused, especially the four men, but that was not the case. Each seemed to have their own distinct personality that made it simple for me to distinguish each of them from the others. For example, Jude seems to have a subtle command about him that makes others follow him without even realizing it. DC is the heart of the group, his caring personality makes the others want to be around him. Andy has a spice for life, which had me smiling from ear to ear at times. Reed is the most lost of all of the characters, even so he's determined to protect those he care about no matter the cost. Together this groups is unstable and truly entertaining.
The subplot with the demons, in my opinion, could have used some spicing up. Even though it's the basis for everyone coming together, I felt it could have had a more dominant place in the story. For example, I would like to have seen a bit more action in the battles. I think that it would have added some adrenaline that would have helped build the tension.
The romantic plot in this story was exciting. You had couples, potential couples and a group all intertwined between these five people. At times I questioned, along with the characters, how they would make it work, but in the end everyone seemed to be getting what they wanted and what they needed, which is what all relationships are truly about.
The romantic involvement and wonderful characters made this an easy read and I would love to see more of these characters. ...more
Even though you know your place in the world, that doesn't mean you can control your cravings.
That's the moral of the story for Rand's Craving. This is book five of eight in Keira West's Great Wolves of Passion, Alaska. Here we see Eve and Rand growing closer and ultimately admitting their love for one another. Because let’s face it, who wouldn't love a sexy, sweet, loyal and protective wolf like Rand? At five books in, I think the author has made it pretty clear that Eve is awesome, too. What really pushes Eve over the "perfect" precipice is her immediate understanding of what Rand needs from her. He, of course, knows where he stands within the pack and battles not only the worry about freaking Eve out with what he needs, but how it would affect the pack. What does Eve do? Loves him for exactly who he is and accepts him with open arms.
What I like about this book and this series in general is the story arc is actually drawn out over the eight books in the series, making each book a small snippet of what's happening yet incredibly essential. Six of the books are about Eve and one particular wolf in the pack, the first one all about them meeting and establishing a foundation really. I think it's safe to assume book eight will be the icing on the proverbial cake and close up the suspense part of the story. Another thing I really enjoy is how there are actually several plots going on at once.
Overall, Rand's Craving was an awesome addition to the series and if you read the others you must read Rand's story. This isn't a stand-alone book, but if you like wolves, bears, leopards and/or just really hot sex, you'll not be let down reading the previous installments first. I can tell you this, I am waiting with bated breath for the grand finale in book eight! Holy hotness headed our way! ...more
Sara Hutchinson has the hottest dreams, dreams of six sexy men, all focused on her pleasure and delight. When she wakes up, life is just so much less than her dreams. So, one day she packs up her car and just starts driving with no clear destination in mind. What she has no way of knowing is these are not normal dreams, but the call of her mates to come to them.
The Night Runners are six hot and sexy werewolves waiting for the one woman to ground them. Sara is that woman. Their alpha-female. The one woman to unite the pack. When Sara discovers what they are, however, she panics and runs from them, into the path of a rogue werebear. Victor is determined to have her for his own. The men have to forget the trouble from town and focus on finding their woman before she's hurt or killed by the bear. Can Michael and the others find her in time? Can they stop Victor from harming their mate? Can they bring Victor to justice for all the other harm he's caused to the town?
Beverly Rae does hot and steamy better than anyone I’ve read, and this book has plenty of heat to it. I liked the dream sequences. The men prepare Sara for the reality to come by giving her more love and passion than she's ever known. Ms. Rae has built a world filled with imagination and reality combined. A world where dreams can come to pass, and men become wolves and bears. Where a woman finds her true desires.
Sara has been dreaming of her men since she hit puberty. She's strong but lonely, with nothing to tie her to any one place. She's courageous enough to head off in search of her dream lovers, but suffers a moment of panic when she realizes these men, her mates, are more than mere men. When danger finds her, she is determined to fight to her last breath. I like her sarcasm and her will to fight for her life and return to her men.
The six Night Runner wolves are as close as brothers, and as different as men can be.
Michael is the leader, the Alpha, strong and able to take charge and get results. Max is the artist of the group. Nick is filled with nervous energy, and William, although the oldest, defers to Michael for the lead. Ranlon is the roughneck, the rancher of the group, and Jimmy, at twenty-one, is the youngster of the group. All six men are hotter than sin, and all of them want Sara to be their alpha-female, to help the pack grow and become so much more. I like each of these men, with their honesty and passion, and their desire to do whatever is needed to help Sara adjust. I like that they are willing to leave her alone when she asks, even though they want nothing but to be with her.
There is danger in this world, in the form of Victor, the rogue werebear. He's a threat to the pack, because he takes the one person they value above all else. This is the first of many stories in this world, with a woman in each Night Runner’s future, but I like that Sara will always be the alpha-female for them all.
I look forward to each new story, and hope the happy ever afters just keep coming. This is one for those who like their romance in multiples, and with a bit of danger on the side....more
Eastern Ambitions is the third installment of the Compass Brothers books, and the most intensely emotional so far.
As each Compton brother turns eighteen, they leave home to follow their dreams. First Silas, then Seth, and now the twins are about to embark on their own adventures. While Sawyer has opted for a military career, Sam is determined to go to college back east. He wants all the things not available on the ranch, and he believes he will find it all in New York.
Fast-forward seven years, and Sam is where he has worked hard to be: a successful trader in a prestigious investment firm in the city, with a chance to become the youngest vice president in the history of the firm. He just has to succeed with one presentation and he is in. Then there is Belinda, the woman he has been seeing, and the night before his big day, she finally takes the relationship to the next level with a wild night in Sam’s bed. But things aren’t what they seem, and the next day, Sam is not only not given the promotion, he is fired for ‘stealing’ her proposal, and for harassment. Seems she set him up for a major fall.
Sam decides to head back to Wyoming to lick his wounds, but when he calls home to let them know, he is blindsided with news that knocks the situation he is in right out of his head. Going home becomes more important, and he leaves immediately.
Life is much the same as ever at the ranch, but as Sam comes to terms with all that is happening, he meets Cindi Middleton, the ranch office manager, and sparks strike between them. Cindi is wounded, not physically, but inside there are scars and secrets. With so much going on, can they help each other through the tough times ahead at Compass Ranch? Can they trust each other enough to reveal their innermost secrets, secrets that are very much the same? Can Sam learn to not judge without all the facts before opening his mouth?
I love the world and the characters that Mari Carr and Jayne Rylon have so marvelously crafted. There is an electricity flowing through this story, a sense of things flowing just below the surface about to erupt, that draws the reader in with the first words. This story grabbed me by the throat and wouldn’t let go until the final sentence.
Sam Compton is the image of the successful young businessman, and he has achieved what he wanted. But when it all goes down the drain, the only consolation he can think of is home. Sam has matured, and has picked up some decidedly kinky habits in the big city, and he knows those things will be put aside when he goes home, and he is okay with it. I like Sam and his ability to realize what is really important in life. I enjoyed watching as he kept messing up what could be the best thing to ever cross his path.
Cindi Middleton works and lives at Compton Ranch, and she also plays there. She is strong and smart, and determined to not be hurt ever again. She has her ways of coping, and if those ways include playing with the ranch hands to everyone’s mutual pleasure, well she’s fine with it. I loved Cindi’s honesty with all the men in her life, and her ability to be exactly who she is. When she meets Sam, I liked that she finally met someone she could relate to on a special level, if he can just accept her secrets and not walk away.
This story is deeper and more emotional than the first two books, and there are many secrets that need to come out. The connections between the main and secondary characters in this story are expertly intertwined, with everyone filling some need in another. But this is definitely Sam and Cindi’s story, and they have some major barriers to get through to get to their happy ending. There are several hot spots in this, and the scene in the yard with Cindi and the men is one of the hottest things I have read in a while. That was the moment when Cindi and Sam realized they were perfect for each other, and it was written to perfection.
This is one very hot romance, but bring a huge box of tissues, because this one will bring the tears, both from laughter and from sadness.
Diamonds in the Sand is Cassandra Pierce’s second book featuring her Aquans. I love the lighthearted outlook of these books, filled with passion and humor and hot hunks.
When Dr. Maura Ryan received a message from her former mentor about a fantastic new discovery he had made, she flies to the tropical island where he now lives at his invitation. Upon her arrival, the oceanographer is disappointed to find that Septimus Miller seems to have disappeared from his home without leaving any word for her. In his place are five gorgeous men, each one devastatingly handsome, willing to help her in any way possible. She falls under the spell of the island, and into the arms of Daq, one of the men living in her mentor’s home.
When she finally uncovers the discovery Septimus spoke of, she realizes that these five men are not exactly human, and they all want to keep her there with them. Can she accept what these five men offer her? Will she discover where her mentor has gone to? Can the scientist in her keep the discovery of a lifetime secret from the world?
There is a bit of mystery in this story, with the disappearance of Septimus Miller, but there is lots of heat and action to keep the pace of the book moving along quite nicely. I like the history Ms. Pierce has created for her ancient race of Aquans, and the male/female dynamic reversal is unique here. I love that the women of the Aquan culture are the love them and leave them wanderers, and the men are the family nurturers.
Maura Ryan is a smart young woman, and excited to be invited to see her mentor’s new discovery. She is drawn to the five men who she believes work for Septimus, and I enjoyed watching as she slowly loses her civilized inhibitions and experiences island living and passion to its fullest. I also understood her suspicions as she wonders whether these five men may have done something to cause the absence of her mentor.
Daq, Janko, Ivar, Ejan and Tagin are five extremely hot and sexy male specimens, and they are each unique in their own way. They are also a pod, or group of men, seeking that one woman who can accept them and anchor their family unit. As Aquans, the men need a female to ground them, and they want Maura to be that woman. I loved watching as each found their own place in her heart, and slowly worked on her inhibitions to allow her to be more free.
There are a couple of surprises, too. Meeting the families of the men of the pod is delightful, and the mischief that Daq’s sister incites is great for a laugh or two. And this sister discovers something about her own needs from a mysterious stranger visiting the island as well.
When the truth about Septimus’ absence becomes known, Maura must make her decision: go home and forget what she knows about the Aquans, or stay and live the rest of her life surrounded by five hot men who will worship her and love her with all they have to give. On the way to this decision, there is lots of sexy action by five skilled men to try and convince her to stay.
This is one to read to warm these cooler autumn nights, with a cold drink close at hand.
"If you see her coming, take care to tuck your ass and run!”
After I finished Wolfen I went on a mad hunt for more of Ms. Montague's books because it knocked my socks off and had me rolling on the floor laughing until I was crying.
Danika Whitney was sent by Wildlife Management to investigate reports of wolf attacks on livestock and humans in a “little out of the way hick town”. Wolves are not native to the area let alone such a large pack. Despite a good aim with a tranq gun, when she tried to embed a tracker in one of the brazen wolves that came up to her cabin, she found the tracker the next day.
Sent to take care of a werewolf problem, wolfen alphas Balin, Con, Dakota, Xavier and Jared came face to face with Danika (Dani) in town. When she finds herself surrounded by five alpha men who radiate hostility and aggression she wondered what would bring five such dominant males together. She soon finds herself in the middle of a battle between the five wolfen males who want to bed her and a whole town full of newly made werewolves.
Ms. Montague was so creative in the unique and tantalizing tale about five wolf/men who are trying to protect one woman and the humans in town from being turned into werewolves. I really enjoyed some of the original and hilarious scenes, making the story unique and a keeper. I enjoyed the tale so much that I had to stop and share on some of my online groups a few of the lines to tease my friends with as I went along. I definitely and heartily recommend this book.
If you’re going to rob from the rich to feed the poor be sure the drug dealing wolf you’re stealing from is an animal in name only and not a true beast!
Melissa (Mel to her friends) has an amazing heart for those in need, to the point of endangering her own life to provide for her orphaned nieces and nephew, a sick aunt and a whole slew of friends and neighbors that just need a helping hand. She has spent the last several years taking care of others and never suspected there would be one much less five men who wanted to spend every waking hour taking care of and loving her. The chemistry between Melissa and the Valdamar brothers is instant and scorching hot.
One of the aspects of the ST2 story that kept me reading, besides the great characters and terrific plot, was that even though the men are Alpha to the max they don’t try to immediately force Melissa to bend to their way of life. They realize that she has a job and is even studying for a law degree. In many dominate male type stories the heroine is expected to give up the life she’s built to be with the man (or men). I liked that the Valdamar brothers were able to appreciate that Melissa was intelligent and encouraged her to pursue her dreams.
SWAT Team 2 is the second book in the Men of Five-0 series for Ms. Dwyer. Each book is full length story where the readers are introduced to a new group of wolf shifting men who find and win their mate. Ms. Dwyer does a superb job of building a solid plot, multi-facetted characters and emotionally charged romance between the men and their fated mate.
The Men of Five-0 series is part of Siren Publishing’s Love Xtreme line but is different from the other series in that each book is a stand- alone story. You’ll notice characters from the other books mentioned so it helps to have read the other books but not at all necessary. I think after you’ve read one in will be hard not to go back and read the others, though. Ms. Dwyer is a wonderful story teller and an automatic buy for this reviewer.
If you love a fast paced paranormal that will have you reaching for a fan while holding your breath…you won’t want to miss SWAT Team 2 and Miss Robin Hood. Ms. Dwyer gives us a tantalizing tease of two more SWAT Team books within the pages of ST2. That’s awesome news for fangirls like me. Pick up your copy of SWAT Team 2 today and see just how good the odds of five to one can be!
With so many bodies in the bed, how can a girl not get flustered? If I had to give this story a heat level, it would be "scorching" because you cannot help but fan yourself while reading this tasty treat.
One thing that did not change was Elijah who I thoroughly enjoyed in the previous story Sanctuary, and he did not disappoint in this one. His spitfire personality really keeps everyone on their toes, which with so many characters is not an easy feat. This fiery personality ensured his place as one of my favorite characters.
Two characters that did shock me were Andrew and Logan. They seemed like different characters. Logan is no longer the strong domineering alpha who seemed like a borderline bully. Instead, he became an understanding partner who loved and respected his partners. In the first story Andrew seemed to be as much as a leader as Logan, just not the same style. In this story he seemed too submissive and sometimes got lost amongst the stronger characters. These changes were not necessary bad changes, but they left me feeling a bit puzzled because the changes were so drastic.
Asylum also introduced two new main characters to the storyline: Malik and Kali. Malik is a strong character and purposefully vague. From beginning to end, you do not know if he is one of the good people or the bad. I'm still not sure how I feel about him and will have to continue reading the series to really say if I like him. Kali, on the other hand, I quickly fell in love with. Elijah’s wit entertained me and Kali’s just added even more excitement to the mix. In addition, her unique abilities as a Methuskein added an extra paranormal element, which I appreciated.
The sequel to Sanctuary may have some of the same characters, but took on a life of its own. Not only were some of the characters a bit disconnected from the storyline from Sanctuary, but so was some of the overall feel of the story. I got the feeling I was missing a story in between the two because so much changed. It made me wants to go back and reread the first story, just to make sure I wasn't forgetting things. It felt as if the author recognized the mistakes she originally made and corrected them in this story, but it left me a bit disconnected because of it.
The writing style of this story read very smoothly. With a story involving so many characters, I was worried I would get confused as a read. Instead, I was able to easy tell each character different personalities and keep up with the actions including in the bedroom. This is something I really commend the author on. She even incorporated small details like different nicknames from each of the main characters to make you understand which was speaking.
Still, the story was able to stand on its own and even added a little more than the first story, and for that, it was an enjoyable read.
Sparks fly in the town of Wild, where Lars and Katia are celebrating the town’s annual “Wild Nights". Lars has asked Katia to marry him and she has not given him an answer yet. Katia doesn’t want to be held down by marriage; she’s scared to lose her freedom. Lars loves Katia with all his heart and will do anything to keep her with him. He has a plan and he hopes it will convince Katia that they are meant to be husband and wife.
Lars is a former Olympic champion who has come back to his hometown of Wild. He’s also the town hero. Lars is one of the most gorgeous and darling athletes I’ve ever read about. Lars is what made the story so wonderful with his wit and loving ways. Katia is quite complicated and her love for Lars is certainly something to envy.
I’m surprised this novella didn’t burst into flames as I flew through the pages. Each love scene was blistering and unique. The characters were conflicted about their future together and it made for a well rounded read.
I would recommend this book to someone looking for a scintillating novella. It will keep you reading long into the night.
If the evil that is plaguing the Wilde mines doesn’t get Jessie first, she may very well die of sensory overload thanks to the Wilde brothers.
JessieIf the evil that is plaguing the Wilde mines doesn’t get Jessie first, she may very well die of sensory overload thanks to the Wilde brothers.
Jessie may not be making a lot of headway in learning who has been sabotaging the Wilde mines but the same can’t be said for her progressing relationship with its smoking hot owners…except for oldest brother Austin. Meeting and hooking up with not one but four of the brothers’ Wilde was never on Jessie’s agenda when she came to Nevada.
If you’ve been ravenously gobbling up Ms. Lang’s Wilde Nevada series as I have, you’ve already enjoyed the passionate first love Jessie found with Jackson and the soul searing and consuming love of Phoenix. Hold onto to your hats and start practicing your “Sirs” because in book three we get to know middle brother, Dallas Wilde. We got just a teasing sample of Dallas in book two that merely whet our appetites to watch him have some one on one time with Jessie. Ms. Lang does not disappoint in Running Wilde.
Where Jackson and Phoenix are careful to not push Jessie and are struggling to decide how to tell her their plan, Dallas is straighter to the point. He recognizes the submissive in Jessie and knows that training her may be the key to winning over Austin in the long run.
Each new story in this series is better than the last. Ms. Lang is still a fairly new author but it doesn’t show in her writing. Her characters are all unique and relatable. She does a tremendous job of building the chemistry between Jessie and Dallas while maintaining the love and passion she already felt for Jackson and Phoenix. With this type of series I think that not losing focus on what has already been built up in the readers mind is important.
Jessie shows a lot of personality in this story. She is curious about her own limits but isn’t going to be used or lied to. I like her spunk. Dallas’s character is perfect for how this series is progressing. Where Jackson and Phoenix were the appetizers I think Dallas and Denver are more main course type men. There is a tangible build up that seems to be pointing towards Jessie and Austin. I haven’t decided who’s the dessert, Jessie or Austin, but it is sure to be decadent either way. Don’t forget someone is still out there ready to spoil it all for Jessie and her men. He or she makes their presence known in Running Wilde and someone ends up hurt. You’ll have to read the book to find out who it is!
Ms. Lang is building towards something big in book six and you don’t want to miss the journey in getting there. Pick up Running Wilde today if you’re already involved with the Wilde men, or go read Jackson and Phoenix’s stories first to see how it all began. It’s not too late get a little Wilde!
There is something for everyone in this ménage anthology. Whether your tastes run from a simple threesome to a group, strangers to long-term friends,There is something for everyone in this ménage anthology. Whether your tastes run from a simple threesome to a group, strangers to long-term friends, very private to sex on the street, this book has a little something for you. The caveat is that you probably will not enjoy each and every story in this book, but you may find something new to interest you.
Raw Amarinda Jones Possibly the most “shocking” story in the collection, this story incorporates the main female character with up to five men. There is plenty of violence as well as oral sex, sex in public, and plenty of voyeurism. There is also one scene that includes some M/M interaction. This story has lots of sex and lets the reader know how Poppy is feeling when faced with the multiple sexual opportunities she is given. Not for the faint of heart, but worth reading at least once.
Taken by Three Delilah Hunt Starting out as revenge at Herb Walker for wrongly putting Ryder Lawson in jail, three brothers plot to steal Evie, his daughter. Kidnapped, being used as their sexual slave, and having no one to miss her, Evie deals with the new experience of being held captive, being shared, and enjoying the new experience. There are plenty of tender moments to counteract the anger and rough sex. There are also several M/F love scenes to complement the times when the brothers all take their turns. This story also has its romance story ending, making it a sexy romantic read.
Post Op Erin O’Riordan A romantic story with a hot three-way thrown in for good measure. After performing back surgery, Maggie finds herself oddly attracted to her patient and his male lover. After trying to distance herself from them, she finds herself at their apartment watching a basketball game with their friends. Things heat up when their friends leave. Maggie gets an insight into their relationship and gets a taste of both of them. It does not stand out as a story, but gets interest from the conflict of sleeping with a patient as well as joining an existing m/m relationship.
The Birthday Surprise Pepper Anthony My favorite story of the bunch. The sex (despite involving three people) isn’t particularly sizzling, and the plot got a bit confusing when they went to the shower (I still can’t figure out who was doing what!). However, despite that, this is the story that sticks in my head, and the story I keep going back to. The concept of being “serviced” by your lawn boy is exciting enough, but add to that the fact it was Melanie’s 40th birthday and the feel-good factor jumps by a factor of 10. If you are ready to take your inner romantic out for a naughty little stroll, this is the story for you!
Admired Ashlyn Monroe Setting up our heroine as a strong, successful career woman, the author begins to show the reader the dichotomy of Cora succumbing to a Dominant/submissive relationship. Not only that, but a relationship that includes the dominant’s friend for some partner sharing and voyeurism. The story reveals how the dominant watching Cora and used covert methods to contact her for the first time. Lots of sexual tension and subterfuge keep your interest throughout this story.
Waking the Lioness Tessa Morelock As suggested by the title, this is a shape-shifter story. Set in New Orleans, and traveling to the bayou, it adds an almost exotic quality to the plot. Lara comes into contact with her ex who is looking for his missing current lover, both of whom are also shapeshifters. Finding Caleb’s lover wounded in the bayou leads to erotic scenes and some three-way action that precipitates Tate’s healing. A departure from the previous stories, but nicely written and entertaining.
Do It Fur Love Melissa Hosack Totally unbelieveable and a completely fantastic vehicle for hot sex and a three-way relationship. Vanessa is in a car accident and is found and saved by friends Brenn and Dihn. After finding they couldn’t get her back to civilization for a few days, Brenn and Dihn offer her a chance to recouperate and the sparks start to fly. After learning they are both werewolves, Vanessa allows herself to follow through on the heat between herself and both guys, which eventually leads to some three way action. But will there be a happy ending?
The Problem With Love Spells Angelina Rain When witch Gretchen runs out of ingredients for her anti-love spell, and she can’t run to the local potion shop to pick them up, she sets out to collect them on her own. Unfortunately, the wolf and bat she collected from decided to take revenge. Fortunately, the wolf was actually a werewolf and the bat a vampire. And they decided to take revenge of a sexual nature. While not normally my cup of tea, this sets the stage for some hot 3-way “revenge” and sets the scene for the story resolution in a satisfactory manner.
There is a little something for everyone in this anthology. It starts out with the most rough and violent and ends with a light-hearted paranormal romp with some good old-fashioned fantasy stories in between. Pick and choose, or read it straight through, but if you are looking for a good read to keep you busy, pick up this anthology and enjoy!

In a refreshing twist on a paranormal, she is even comfortable with the fact that some men were part animal. Where Samantha’s internal struggle goes for a rollercoaster ride is when she considers the men of Swat Team 1. They are five brothers in the biological sense but, more than that they are teammates in an organization that has made protecting the innocent a way of life. Here lately the “innocent” life that occupies most of their time belongs to one stubborn social worker that happens to be their mate.
Dixie Lynn Dwyer is back with a terrific new series for Siren Publishing’s LoveXtreme line and she appears to be making a strategic change in the line's formula that should pay off for its originality alone. Where all of the authors (that I’ve read) have chosen to make their series about a single girl getting to know a group of men over X number of books it would appear that Ms. Dwyer is going to take an organization (SWAT Teams) made up of small groups of men and give each team their own story. That’s pretty exciting because readers are going to get a full length story in each book rather than six or more short stories.
Ms. Dwyer is terrifically gifted in writing both paranormal and menage relationships. ST1, as it’s been shortened to on social networking sites, is no exception. The men are every bit as Alpha as fans of Ms. Dwyer have come to expect and the women are independent and stubborn to a fault. Readers will appreciate how Ms. Dwyer differentiates the personalities of the men from each other as well as from the men in her other popular series. The plot is thick and layered but with perfect timing and resolution by the end of this exciting story.
One of the hallmarks of Ms. Dwyer’s writing is the ability to translate deep emotions into heart-wrenching dialogue and internal struggles. Samantha’s story begins with a tragedy that weighs on her for a large portion of the book. The reader will feel her pain and soul consuming guilt through Ms. Dwyer’s vivid and detailed language. To counter the emotional grief that Samantha is dealing with you can expect to be swept away by the awe inspiring love and devotion of the Valdamar brothers. It’s there in the way that they look at her, touch her and even in the way they give her grief over getting into trouble.
If you’ve never been introduced to the writings of Ms. Dwyer, SWAT Team 1 is a good place to start. This series is sure to bring you back for more and seeking out other books by this incredible storyteller. Pick up a copy today and get lost in the fantastic imagination of the talented Ms. Dixie Lynn Dwyer. You’ll be very glad you did.

A cruise is just what her two closest friends convince heiress Savannah Godfrey she needs after her fathers death. After the support they gave her through everything, she treats David and Angela to the trip aboard the Caribbean Dream, hoping the relaxation will help with the dizzy spells she has been feeling since her loss. And it does seem to be working, at least until she sees a man swimming along next to the ship: a man no one else sees, a man who couldn’t possibly be there. When she suffers another dizzy spell, she goes to her cabin to relax, telling her friends she’s just under the influence of the unfamiliar drinks and climate.
To her surprise, she receives a visit from the mystery man, and falls to sleep after the best sexual encounter of her life. When she wakes, he is gone and Savannah wonders if she imagined him. When she encounters him again at the costume party, her friends try to prevent them from being together. Later that night, Savannah feels hands grab her, and force her to drink something, and then she is thrown overboard. Kral, her mystery man, rescues her, and takes her to his island. There she finds out that Kral is not really human, but is one of a group of men from the ancient land of Lemuria, and that he and his friends are Aquans. They worship her and care for her, and ask her to stay with them.
Savannah is tempted, but also feels the need to let her friends know she is okay. Kral believes there is something off about her ‘accident’ and convinces her to let him and the rest of his pod of Aquans investigate before revealing herself. What they find shocks her to her very core. Can Savannah accept the life that Kral and the others offer her? Can the five Aquans stop the danger targeting their woman once and for all? Will Savannah return to her old life, or join her men on the island for a new and brighter future?
I thoroughly enjoyed the role reversal here: the men stay near shore in groups, while the women of their race seek their pleasure where they roam and then move on. I loved the characters in this. But this is not just a hot and sexy story, it is also one of greed and betrayal, and danger. Yes the sex is hot and plentiful, but it was the plot, the mystery, that kept me reading. I just had to find out who wanted Savannah dead, and why.
Savannah is going through changes. She is afraid she has developed the condition that killed her mother, because of her dizzy spells. She is generous and loyal to her friends, and is ready to move on after all she has been through. I like watching her open up as she discovered there was more to the world than she had been aware of. I enjoyed watching her discover her sensuous side, the side willing to open up to new experiences.
The men-Aquans-that want Savannah are as different from each other as they can be. There is Kral, the tall and handsome leader of his pod, who instinctively knew Savannah would be the perfect woman for his two pod mates and himself. Joquin is tall, blond and gently sweet, and Bariah is just a bit shorter that the other two, dark and more serious than the others. The other two, who join the pod later, are Jhoad and Zoeb, and both are as handsome and virile as the three men Savannah is starting to care for.
There is an edge to the story of who wants Savannah dead, and why. I was a bit surprised to see who the guilty parties were, and just how far they would go to get what they wanted. I enjoyed watching the interaction between Savannah and her men, and I was intrigued once again by the reversal of stereotypical behavior: when Savannah returns to the ship, all five men are worried that they have lost her, that she will forget them.
There is a fantastic happy ever after for Savannah and her pod of Aquans, and there is love and passion and lots of very steamy sex: on the ship, on the beach, in the ocean, in the lagoon….One warning with this one, and a tip: be prepared for lots of hot and exotic sex, and bring lots of ice water and a fan to cool down with.
