Nick was forced into a life that many would cringe at, including myself. Yet, he somehow made it out of that life and just wants to live the life of a quiet professor just like he deserves. However, his past catches up with him and threatens to destroy everything he has created over the years.
I had been previously introduced to Nick in another story about his brother, so I knew a bit of what I was getting into. Nick reminds me of a tiger waiting to pounce. He seems beautiful and majestic from a distance, but get too close and you will get scratched. Lucky for Gen he pounces on her, but in all the right ways. He introduced her to a lifestyle that many of us read about and what to know more of. Nick is a character that was elusive enough that I wanted to know more even at the end of the story. I would love to read a story about his and his brother’s childhood so I can better understand the man he has become.
Gen was a surprising character to me. At first I expected her to be some type of secret spy, detective or even a hired hit woman. There was something about her that just screamed “I am more than what meets the eyes”. What I had not expected was for her to live such a mild mannered lifestyle. She just seemed like she needed adventure and excitement on a regular basis. Which was further confirmed when she and Nick got together, because their time spent together is anything but calm and mild.
The plotline within this story had a lot of complex turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. Whether it was the characters’ budding relationship with one another, their relationships with friends and family, or the threat of being discovered at any minute, there was never a dull moment. I know that this pair will have a long and exciting life together, and I hope I get to see them again in future stories.(less)

There are twenty three poems and short stories that take eroticism and throw it to the winds, letting it fall wherever it may. These short pieces and pearls of poetry take in gay, straight, lesbian and everything in between and craft moving tales and thoughts that both arouse and make you think about what you are reading. To me, it was a love story; a gift to the reader that appreciates fine writing and not your typical episodes of BDSM.
The short works of fiction in this collection blew my mind. They are windows into worlds that some of us never imagine we could be a part of. Isn’t that the true gift of reading, or writing for that matter? The ability to read something and go somewhere far, far away from the screaming kids, the endless day at work, or doing the supper dishes. As an author, the greatest joy I have is in writing something that invokes that feeling, and Elissa Wald did just that. This book was one of the most engaging reads I have read in quite awhile. Think brilliant primary colors. Think carnival lights and swarthy men with tattoos. Think sex.
From the first story, The Initiation, where we meet Delilah, a budding submissive who struggles with the demons inside her, to the sexy Kim who isn’t quite sure what to make of Delilah’s fixation on pain. This story was gripping and visceral and I couldn’t put the book down, even to sleep. The second story installment is Ruby and the Bull. This is the story of Ruby and Judd. She calls him the Bull, and as the story unwinds, he has found her diary and is about to get a nasty shock when he reads it. Spicy, raw and undulating, this tale is gritty and on edge.
The third story in the collection is The Resolution. Full of the glitz and fading glitter of the big top, we meet Lottie, a runaway and Jorge, an outcast in the circus. Teased mercilessly for his gay status, Jorge is bitter and standoffish. When Lottie unknowingly insults him, it starts a winding path down a love that will last a lifetime. This story will bring tears to your eyes and a breath of longing to your heart.
Story number four, The Houseboy, is a major head trip and one that had me thinking about it even when I wasn’t reading it. Troy is a boy lost in a sea of high schoolers lost in the fray of his life. When the Sergeant comes to speak, he finds a role model and a curious object of affection. Writing letters and insinuating himself into the Sergeant’s life, lies and betrayals can unravel even the deepest of dreams.
Number five, Missing the Boat, is a ménage scenario that brings many elements to the scene. Dominance, submission and more entertain in this soul deep take on friendship and fascination when the tables get turned and lines begin to blur.
The sixth story, Turned Out, is a beautiful story about hope growing up from a bed of concrete. Nelson has just gotten out of prison and while he is happy, his senses are on overload. He misses the routine and security of the life inside and the domineering partnership he shared with The Axe, the male dominant he subbed to inside. This piece walks you through deep feelings and longings of the heart.
The last story, The Illustrating Man, is one that will stick in your mind long after you have read it. Sexy and as intricate as a well done tattoo, this story takes off when a female reporter finds out a childhood savior is wanted for murder. In a beautifully wound tale, the author shows you people that were affected by the artist’s insight and unique method of tattooing. It is sensual and one that scratches down into the deepest part of you and leaves a mark.
The poetry in this collection is also inspiring, spiritual and evocative.
If you are looking for a book that takes you into the souls of many unique and worthy characters, then you need to read this collection. Rich, lush and full of vibrant eroticism, this book is a keeper on my favorite shelf. You won’t forget any of the characters and how easily this author can slip into the minds of anyone and walk a mile in their shoes. The erotic portions are done very well and titillate the mind as well as the body.
For a collection that will have you dreaming carnival dreams of tattooed men, ladies that lust and of heartfelt loves that like life, do not always have a sparkling happily ever after, then you need to read this book.

Stuart lost his love, and thought that he was going to die. He was physically ill and heartbroken. Tom loves Stuart, but after Stuart’s second chance at love he is still not ready for a second chance at love. Age difference also plays a part in Stuart’s decision.
Chosen by Pelaam This is a nice dark Gothic tale. I actually wanted the Vampire Dragomir to get his love. When his love is not ready to embrace the life a vampire, he gets used as a pawn to destroy Dragomir. I really liked the Vampire world that Pelaam created, and I want to go back. Alexandru is innocent and young, which is the case for many vampire victims. However the attraction and love that Alexandru feels proves that he is not a victim at all. I liked the dark and frightening aspect of this story! I cannot wait for sequels, or a longer look into Pelaam’s imagination.
Smoke Break by Allison Cassatta What would you do if you saw an attractive man enjoying himself? I know what I would do! That is what Daryl does when he sees Charlie after their brief encounter. This is a hot, steamy, short and arousing story! You’ll need a cold shower after this one.
Watching for Love by Sara York This is a sexy look into Mac, a man who cannot stop watching the man he loves: Ryan. He is afraid to talk to him, so he uses voyeurism as his only release. Ryan is not afraid and finally decides to call Mac on his behavior. Ryan uses dominance to teach Mac a lesson, and the lesson he learns is that he loves Ryan even more than he thought. If you fantasize about voyeurism, and brief dominance, then you will love this story.
Far from Home by Serena Yates I think that two men who want to be left alone make the perfect match! When Luca gets rejected from his family for being gay he has no choice but to live alone. On his adventure he finds a wounded dog. The dog’s owner finds him just in time to accuse him of hurting the dog. After a trip to the Vet, and after Jonathan realizes that he was wrong in his assumption there is an apology. Along with Jonathan apologizing he offers Luca to spend the night. Luca falls for Jonathan’s plan, and a night turns into a lifetime of true love.
Lord Godiva’s Pony Training by S.A. Garcia Would you help your lover live out his fantasy? Matt’s lover does when he comes home early to catch Matt engaging in Pony Play. This older couple definitely loves each other enough to live out each other’s fantasies. Matt made a great story teller and was indeed funny. There were a few times I found myself laughing and smiling. I learned something, love a good fantasy and laughed all at the same time!
A Return to Normalcy by Anel Viz This is a story about a man that cares about everyone else but himself. He still eats dinner with his wife once a week while having a bipolar lover. This only confuses the family members more, especially his son. It is only after Patrick learns to take care of himself that the people in his life do as well. This leads to a happy coexistence for all of them. I liked the story and would not mind hearing more about the other characters.
Solitude Disrupted by Andy Slayde and Ali Wilde I didn’t know what to expect with 2 different authors. What I found was the touching story of how Heath opens up Quinn’s heart. Quinn is a shut in, and does not want to deal with anybody, especially not Heath. However as Heath uses his determination on Quinn a bond is made. They decide to let each other be and to live with each other. Before that truce can happen there is a lot of arguing and power plays, in and out of the bed. If I was stuck in Paradise with a hot man, I would find reasons to argue and make up too!
Leap of Faith by Lexi Ander A bachelor party gone wrong changes everything for Ben. It is only after he finds himself that he can let Dawson love him, like he thought his previous fiancé did.
Clean Monday by A.J. Llewellyn and D.J. Manly When you are at the end of your rope, and no one cares about you, what do you do? Aleczander decides there is nothing left for him. So he jumps off the Golden Gate Bridge. Only he survives, and discovers that people do care. Especially about him. He realizes that there are support groups. Then he finds Tommy. I believe in life. Death is never the answer and this book proves that point beautifully.
My Unintended by Faith Ashlin The grass is not always greener on the other side. This book to me was about sibling rivalry. Noah is living with Greg. However, when his parents change their will to leave their house to his sister with kids, he starts to think that he is missing something. It is only after he realizes that he is giving up more by leaving Greg does he learn what he truly wants.
Roadside Rescue by Nicole Dennis I would love to be rescued by a strange sexy man who invited me back to his house! Especially if he is a Deputy! He must have handcuffs! This story was fun to read and the ending of this one alone was worth buying this whole book!
Unmasked by Patricia Logan This story had everything, sexy men, BDSM, love and trust. Byron becomes Anthony’s slave, and he likes it. This story was written in a very steamy way! If you like reading about sex, than you will love this story.
Checkmate! By SammyJo Hunt I liked this story because I liked the idea of using chess as a sex game. I also enjoyed thinking about a hot lifeguard and how willing I would be to trap my king for my opponent. Chess is a mental game, and when the author mixed it with great sex scenes I was hooked.
Overall I am giving this book a 4 because I didn’t like that very few people accepted their gay loved ones. I thought that this would be a better book if a few of the stories started with happy beginnings, too.
If you were going to go to an island vacation hotspot in the form of a spicy novel, then this book would be your destination.
Trust Me centers around three men who run an island resort. Two of them are the central characters in this hot read. At a wedding for Kira and Gabe, Alec meets the sexy Brooke, who just happens to be Gabe’s editor. The two light up enough sparks between them for a Fourth of July picnic. When the two head off for a quickie, neither one will ever be the same again.
The other main character in this tale is Will. He meets Angel on a phone sex line and is hooked by her stammering and nervous voice. The two hit it off and soon are doing much more than talking. These two give a new meaning to the term phone sex. Both give as good as they get and the exchange of lust is equal on both ends.
The two stories intertwine and I was turning the pages of my e-reader faster than ever to find out what happens. After Brooke goes back to the mainland, she remembers the hot night she had with Alec and goes to a sex club with a guy she is dating. This has some terrible consequences and when she sees Alec again, they raise their ugly head.
Will and Angel have a unique phone relationship that blossoms into real love across the wires. When Angel has to make a choice with her work that could compromise her safety, Will gets involved. Her knight in shining armor, he saves the woman he loves from a situation that could have really hurt her and takes her off to his island paradise.
Trust Me has a unique blend of lust and characters that you can fall in love with. Each one is crafted carefully and you can really feel the emotions and sexiness ooze off the page. Hot read!
Love on the beach without sand in my shorts. That is the perfect vacation. This read was lusty and full of good times. There was a description of rape that could be a trigger for some. Other than that, the wild parties and hot group sex was right up there and smokin hot the whole way through. BJ Ware knows how to turn up the heat and light my fire every time.
This is the fourth book in the Masters of Submission series by Jan Bowles, and the first one in the series I’ve read.
Beth Beaumont is an experienced submissive when she meets one of the owners of Club Submission Ethan Strong. I loved that Beth was experienced; it was refreshing to have someone who knew what they were getting into. It was especially important because Ethan is a very dominant Dom, and even has a different persona when dealing with serious transgressions.
Ethan Strong is a Dom, one I’d love to meet. He seemed to really know what he was doing and really care for Beth. The sex scenes in this story were well written, and believable. I could see Beth easily falling in love with Ethan, and trusting him.
The secrets that Beth keeps add an extra interesting layer to this story. The plot around the secrets was handled well, and added a nice level of suspense to the story. I wasn’t expecting that going in, but it was nice to read something that wasn’t just about the sex. The sex scenes were plentiful and hot.
The idea of the Inquisitor’s Chamber was great, and handled well for the most part. There was only one scene in this book, which made me step back and wonder what I was reading. I’m not a fan of breath play and while it wasn’t as extreme as I’ve seen, it did pull me out of the story.
Still, I will read the rest in the series. I enjoyed Ethan and Beth’s story. I would love to read Ethan’s brother Matthew’s story. Give the story a try, it was an enjoyable read.(less)
Erotica author Sarah K. is newly divorced and finds herself longing for the BDSM relationships she writes about in her novels. In this journey of self-discovery, we enter a world that is not for the faint of heart.
Dating sucks. Sarah K. can tell you that. After being married to a man without any motivation whatsoever, she wants to be careful who she hooks up with. Her select group of friends help her surf the local pool, but Sarah decides she wants something more. Something out of one of her racy novels. She has written about BDSM for years and wants to find a Dom to get her started. Dating websites that focus on BDSM are a mixed bag of tricks. You have to kiss a lot of frogs with strange fetishes before you find that special someone. And find him she does. Enter Max.
Max is the epitome of the quintessential Dom. Elegant, secretive, demanding and he helps Sarah awaken into the reality of becoming a submissive. No underwear, not speaking and using Sir at the end of every phrase are a challenge for her, but she slowly begins to adjust. When the punishments begin, she has to really decide whether this life is really for her. Is Max? Should she stay vanilla and let it go?
The journey within this book is heartfelt and has highs and lows. There is so much more than what I have written in this review, plot wise. Intrigue, family relationships, introductions to friends and whether to tell them what you have really been up to…Yes. Real life gets in the way of the romance and there are hard choices that have to be made. It isn’t even really a plot. It is her life. Sarah K. writes a stellar book. So much so that I can easily see this as a movie. She is a vulnerable person, but never gives up on her goals and doesn’t let tragedy swamp her.
Written with a quirky voice and an almost fiction like quality, this book is one of the best reads of the season. If you liked 50 Shades or are a fan of BDSM novels, The Secret Life of a Submissive needs to be next on your TBR list.(less)
Sometimes fate steps in to give us what we need to be happy and not always what we want in life and at the end of the day we are better for it. ‘Embracing My Submission’ is the first book in the Doms of Genesis by Jenna Jacob. This book takes the reader through a range of emotions.
Julianna is a submissive looking for a Dom. She works as a CPA during the day and is a submissive that goes by the name of Emerald at night. Her first Dom hurt her. I spent most of the book feeling sorry for Julianna and annoyed with those around her. Julianna is unclaimed after four years and it’s no wonder that she had self-esteem issues. I wondered why she hung on so long. I also wondered about her so called friends. I find it hard to believe that they did not notice her self-esteem issues or where they so self-absorbed that they did not care. Julianna was under the protection of Drake while at the club. I wonder if Drake kept other Doms away on purpose.
Mika is the owner of Genesis. His first wife died from cancer. In the beginning Mika thought that Doms could only love one slave. Mika got the shock of a life time when Julianna walked into the club. Julianna was the spitting image of Mika’s dead wife. Mika has the air of mystery about him. I loved this character but was frustrated at the same time by some of the things he pulled. I do not like people that do not try to have a conversation with someone before trying to teach them a lesson. It comes across as childish without the conversation.
The author did a wonderful job with sex scenes. They were hot and steamy. There was such chemistry between Mika and Julianna. It was apparent in and out the bedroom. It’s apparent the author did a lot of research in the BDSM lifestyle.
This book sucks you in and does not let you go until the very end. It takes you through a range of emotions. While I have not read Jenna Jacobs before, I cannot wait to read more from this author.
What do you get when you have a Gothic style mystery and a sexy mix of characters that would rival Peyton Place? Pendelton Manor.
When Sophie takes a housekeeping job at Pendelton Manor to escape the grief of losing her only child, she has no way of knowing that she is walking into an orgy. The inhabitants of Pendelton Manor are completely open about their sexual habits, and when Sophie walks in on it, she is dumbfounded, but also aroused. A mix of old style Gothic mystery and a full on sexscapade, this book was a scorching hot read.
At first, my initial response to the story was that it reminded me of the old Victoria Holt mysteries with a brooding murderer lurking about. Add in sex at every single turn and you have something that would make even the most adventurous person blush. Adrian and the rest of the family are openly sexual in front of everyone in the house, hence the turnover in housekeepers. It is a bit shocking to find yourself in the midst of an orgy when you are trying to clean.
While I enjoyed the plot, dialogue and Sophie’s sexual awakening, I did feel that the sex was over the top. The author did a great job with each scene, but there were so many, I felt my eyes glazing over on a couple of occasions where I wanted to find out about the murderer or what happened to the cat. Also, the personal dynamics between Adrian, the oldest brother and owner of the manse and Sophie was the main focus, but I wanted more from their interactions. There was a repeated reference about the grief of both Adrian and Sophie that felt a little like an echo.
Overall, the story was great and the sex was smoking hot. Menage action at every turn with some one on one with Adrian and Sophie that scorched my e-reader made this a great read, but again, I would have liked a few more mystery elements.
If you have a fondness for Gothic style mysteries with a flair for wild sex parties than dip your toes in this one.
Age does not make a difference when it comes to love. Bound: Forget me Not is the first of many books, I hope, between Jason (age 22) and Henry (age 40). This is H. B. Pattaskyn’s second novel, and if she keeps writing novels like this one she should develop quite a following.
Jason Kennly is a college student working set up for a convention. He meets Henry, a booth owner. Henry gets Jason to demo for him, opening him up to a different world. Jason has very little support system around him. His mother passed away when he was seventeen and his father did not know he existed until her death. It’s apparent to anyone that Jason is a submissive trying to make the people around him happy at his expense of his happiness. Jason comes across as a bit too whiny at times. He is very young and I hope will grow out of the whininess.
Henry is a leather booth owner and is drawn to Jason. He sees that Jason could be the perfect submissive. The age difference between the two, while coming as a shock to Henry, does not stop either one. Henry cherishes Jason and accepts him in a way no else has since his mother. I did wonder about Henry’s motives getting involved with Jason. Is he trying to be a friend, or a lover? I did like that the author showed that Henry had doubts and fears when dealing with Jason.
The chemistry between Henry and Jason burns up the pages. The sex scenes between the two are scorching hot. I also liked that, while the play between Jason and Henry was intense, there was not extreme hardcore BDSM. There was no humiliation or blood play. I liked that Henry and Jason had conversations out of the Dom/sub roles. I also liked that Henry wanted to show Jason as much as he could in the short amount of time they had.
This book is a true love story where age does not matter. I really loved this book! If you are a fan of Sean Michael’s novels then you may enjoy this book. I did not want the book to end. I cannot wait to see what happens to Jason and Henry in the future.(less)
Yolanda was certainly stripped bare in this story physically, mentally, and emotionally. Yolanda isn’t the only one whos layers are removed in this story. Lawrence, while usually the one remove layers, quickly realizes that Yolanda may be the only person that can strip him while he is doing the same to her.
One part of the story that I found enjoyable was the sexual activity. Lawrence is really helping Yolanda to understand more about herself through sexuality. I think this helps the character in more ways than just how to have a great orgasm. It teaches her how to relieve stress and understand more about her body and mental state. This teaching or self discovery does involve some interesting scenes including a sexual awakening at a club while watching an ménage. The scene does involve anal play, but is done in a tasteful way which leaves everyone including the main character satisfied.
The conflict in this story added an extra element of excitement and entertainment. It added a sympathy element regarding Yolanda as well as allowed Lawrence to be the knight and shinning armor Yolanda needed. It also allowed the author to introduce some interesting sub-characters such as Jim Yolanda’s IT guy and Mick, someone Lawrence thought he left in his past.
This story ignited a love for erotic stories that I thought I had lost, and will always have a spot in my heart for that fact alone. So if you are someone looking to get introduced to little BDSM or has had a long appreciate for it you will enjoy reading this story.(less)
When Dominant Leon Butters finds the sub of his dreams, Christmas gets a little more merry.
Leon has been watching Bernice Rowe since he first laid eyes on her. A local librarian with lush golden hair and a voluptuous figure, he knew she had to be his. When she entered Kink, the local BDSM club, he watched from afar until it was the right time to make his move. Bernie would be his for Christmas.
Bernice was enamored with the possibility that becoming a sub would help her with her issues with attracting the right kind of man. New to the lifestyle, the relationship between a sub and a Dom really appealed to her, especially if that Dom was going to be Leon.
Bound for Christmas had a fairy tale quality that you don’t often see in a BDSM novel. It had a sweetness and simplicity to the story and flow that was intriguing. Leon was a typical Dom character- overbearing and doing everything from cutting Bernie’s food to dressing her. Bernie was a quiet sub with very little going on. There were points in the story that frustrated me, the doormat syndrome being one of those. While the loving nature of the story was nice, the lack of character depth made me restless as I was reading. On the other hand, the sexy spanking scenes and other BDSM moments were a lot of fun and had me reaching for the iced tea.
The very real weight concerns that Bernie had were a strong pull as was the fear of being alone. Body image is a very real part of most women’s lives, and I identified with Bernie’s need to be accepted by Leon. To have someone care about you enough to correct you, feed you, dress you and the like is intoxicating, but in this instance it felt like Bernie had very little presence. There were a couple other issues that also popped up. Echoes. When the same word is used over and over again in the course of a paragraph, then it tends to stick in the reader’s mind and you notice. The other thing was that there was very little getting to know you time before things progressed to a level of commitment that felt unrealistic and I had a moment where my ability to suspend disbelief was having some issues.
Overall, I liked the storyline, characters and the idea that you can meet a Dom in a club and have a sexy three week Christmas vacation with as much kink as you can stand. That would frost anyone’s cupcake, especially mine. The holiday essence and sweetness of the story prevailed in the end.
If you want a story that has a little bit of kink under the tree, then give Bound for Christmas a try.
When Tristan decides to look for his lost love in a series of letters, some pretty hot stories will heat up the pages.
The first story is a dominatrix who makes a living by her trademark red stilettos. Hot and dominant, this woman takes no crap from any man. Well, that is until her former Dom, Marcus, decides to stop in for a visit. Hold on to your hats for some steamy sex and page turning action.
The second story is a woman searching for more in her life. After a vanilla life that had been ideal except for the small fact that her husband was cheating on her with his secretary, Sherri has decided she wants to dip her toes on the wild side. Will a blind date with a Dom lead to more than she bargained for?
The third story is one where things are not always as they seem. Computer geek Marissa Sanders has to take a trip out to a local kink club to provide some support until she gets a little more hands-on than she intended at the hands of a local Master.
Each of these stories has a great blend of kink and subtle relationship ties. They all have much more going on than meets the eye and as I read through them for the second time, I enjoyed the collection even more than I did the first time around. I also decided I really, really want a pair of red stilettos.
The kink factor is moderate, but enough to make for a lively collection of short erotic encounters. If you want a great on the go story, this collection is a sexy way to break up the day.
What do you get when you combine kinky leather and fairy tales? An anthology that covers every aspect of BDSM–a flogging to some kinky Daddy tales.
This collection has eighteen stories. With some of the biggest names in the industry, I was notably excited to review this collection of kink. Leather stories always fascinate, but when you twist them up in not so neat little packages of fairy tales and floggers, then you are going to get all kinds of tales, from the scary to the sublime. Laura Antoniou provides the forward and I always enjoy her words. Author of the Marketplace series, a leather and slave masterpiece, it was great to see her name on the author roster.
Each Step For Him by Lee Harrington Lee Harrington can turn a phrase and can suck you into a story without trying. His imagery and the blending of the leather community with a tale of The Little Mermaid was truly inspirational. This m/m short was infused with images of leather, the sea and finding a Prince to love. It was sexy and well done and I am eager to read more from this author.
Blue Beard’s Ghost by Ariel Dalziel The story of Bluebeard is one I remember hearing as I was growing up. A murderous pirate, Bluebeard claimed the lives of his wives and kept gruesome trophies in a room upstairs. In this rendition, the bride claims a place of her own. An awakening into the art of D/s and a delicious twist at the end made this story a joy to read.
Blood in the House of Sweets by Miss Lola Sunshine This original twist on the Hansel and Gretel tale had me at the word go. Needle play, age play, ménage…a very creative scene that will delight readers with its adult themes and edge play.
The Suitor by Miel Rose This story reminded me a lot of Brave with a princess that rebelled against her mother’s matchmaking schemes. A rousing bit of sword play and a surprise suitor bring some f/f action to this kinky fairy tale rewrite.
Hair Like Gold by Nalu Kalani Rapunzel never had as much fun as the girl suspended by her hair in this short. An elaborate bondage by hair scene, the prince in this story has to bring a captive girl to orgasm in order to free her from her bonds. A fun retelling.
The Mistress and the Pea by Cynthia Hamilton A search for a Domme leads a prince on a wild hunt for the perfect mate. This story was very like Cinderella trying on magic shoes, except in this case, it was a prince trying out princesses one at a time to find the right fit.
The Red Shoes by Hosha Red shoes rock. It is a known fact and one that this story really captures well. The girl in this story lusts for the shoes in the window and after an interesting visitor to the shoe shop where she works, all kinds of doors open up for her. A winding plot and good erotic content, I enjoyed this story.
The Seven Swan Princes by D L King This story was an excellent rendition of the fairytale on which it was based. An overbearing oaf demanding the hand of Eve, she refuses and fights against his unwelcome advances. Weaving robes to free her brothers from a curse, the maiden crafts some lovely garments. Add in some lovely sex magic, a wizard with a talented flogger and some hot bondage and you have a great short story for this collection.
The Good Witch by Ali Oh The wicked witch is one of the most misunderstood characters in fairytales. In this rendition of Baba Yaga, the Good Witch and The Wicked Witch have a series of meetings that taunt and tantalize, all the while exploring bondage and some fun D/s. There might be a little more to the Good Witch than everyone thinks.
Snow Fight by Rob Rosen When the prince finds Snow White in her glass coffin, he encounters some resistance before he is able to get her freed from the spell of death. The huntsman fights him and ties him up to have his wicked way with him. Lots of nipple twisting and some steamy m/m action commence.
Down Under by Raven Kaldera A man made of bread and a girl have some interesting trysts in the woods. Add a witch, a whole lot of bondage and a splendid gift and you have a story that never gets old. Being beautiful on the inside is always better than being a shallow beauty on the outside any day.
Golden Twink and the Three Bears by Elizabeth “Jake” Hart A smoking hot tale of The Three Bears, this one isn’t for the faint of heart. When Twink finds his way into the Bear’s cottage, he happens upon their bondage toy collection and some red hot branding equipment. When the family comes home to find him nestled in Baby Bear’s bed, we can only imagine what comes next.
Iron Henry by Karen Taylor I want to go to a tea party like this one. The main character is loosely based on the Frog Prince, or Iron Henry. Going to a tea party, this submissive male is there to serve and as he makes his way artfully among the Dommes, one woman in particular catches his eye. She is also watching him. In a delicious development, the two meet and the erotic submission of Henry to his new mistress will take you to realms of cock rings and some creative restraints.
The Wolf and Little Red by Alysia Angel Little Red Riding Hood can be a very erotic tale. This one used Daddy play and I had a little trouble getting into the story. While the imagery was very well written, the Daddy play used a lot of descriptive elements that bordered on an underage person in a sexual encounter with an older, possible father figure. It most likely was not written to be read that way, but it really hit a trigger for me. The image of a little girl with little hands touching the wolf and more was disturbing to me. If you have triggers with age play then do not read this story.
Not Enough Storms by Goldie Dartmouth This fairy story did a lot of showing and not telling and I found myself drifting after the first page. There is an elaborate world building scenario that was very difficult for a reader to latch onto and identify with. Adding some character interaction would have been beneficial to the story.
Cinderfella by Sossity Chiricuzio Cinderella has some f/f tendencies in this provocative tale. When a cousin to one of the maids shows up to teach El about her secret fantasies, things heat up.
Lady Leoprine by Mollena Williams A bondage club scene with a Mistress that is all powerful has a submissive male slave aching to serve. When a disruptive influence causes a nuisance at the club, Lady Leoprine takes matters into her own hands. Starting out as a normal leather club scene, this tale quickly shifts with paranormal elements.
The Little Boot Black by Sassafras Lowrey This Daddy play story was compelling and very well done. The little bootblack is missing his Daddy, a female who takes care of him. Even though this story dealt with age play and the term “little boy” it did not bring to mind images of abuse, but instead of coming home to a lover who takes control and gives the devotion that the bootblack yearns for. It is a beautiful story.
This collection overall was very well done. The BDSM elements roamed far and wide, bringing imagery of needle play, age play, impact play and more. If you enjoy a romp on the leather side, than this fairy tale redo is just the thing.(less)
The last thing Brielle Norris wants to do is see another counselor. But she is smart enough to know she will never get past the nightmares of the abusive relationship she was able to escape without help. She wants to live a normal life, and that includes a healthy sexual relationship with someone, in the future. But when she goes to Dr. Luke Malone’s sexual psychology clinic, he feels honor bound to refer her to another practitioner because, as much as Luke wants to help Brielle, he can’t be objective with her treatment; he wants her for himself, and that would be unethical. He does refer her to the best in the field, after him, that is; his friends, Drs. Becca and Kurt Foster.
When he proposes that she sees Becca, and let him go with her, Brielle agrees to the arrangement. As she opens up, it becomes clear that Brielle could greatly benefit from Kurt’s invention, the Dream Machine, to help her overcome her fears and insecurities. As the attraction grows, Brielle discovers that some of the desires she has are perfectly normal, if a bit on the, well, kinky side, and that Luke shares in the things that interest her. As the unconventional therapy continues, can Brielle let go of her fears, and move on to a happy future, preferably with Luke? Will Luke find what he’s been searching for with Brielle? When her past comes back to haunt her, will Brielle crumple, or stand tall and conquer those fears once and for all?
Healing Touch is the second in Jayne Rylon’s Play Doctor series, and it was worth the wait. The world Ms. Rylon has built is highly sensual, and not for the faint of heart. The characters in this are strong and well crafted, with only one new character being introduced here. This is a book filled with passion, and tension of many kinds. I enjoyed seeing the characters interact, both in and out of the bedroom/laboratory. Nothing is left to the imagination in this one, and the characters’ strength is the one thing I found to be constant throughout the story.
Brielle Norris begins this story as a confused but determined woman. She wants so badly to live a ‘normal’ life, but her many fears tend to overwhelm her at times. She is smart and has a fantastic sense of humor that sees her through her darker periods, and has learned to compensate accordingly to avoid her hot buttons. I liked watching as she opened up to Luke, revealing her fears and dreams/nightmares to him. I love her courage and her willingness to follow through with every direction that Becca proposes. As she gets closer to Luke, I love that she is seeing that all men are not like her father, or her ex Brad.
Luke Malone is strong, intelligent and gorgeous, but he has been alone for too long. After his friends, Kurt and Becca, finally found their happily ever after, he wants what they have, and is less interested in the sharing they are used to. I enjoyed watching as her came back to the vibrant man he should be under Brielle’s attentions. I loved his loyalty, and above all, his determination to help Brielle overcome all her fears and nightmares, even the ones she has kept buried so deep, she didn’t realize they were there. His gentleness with her shows that a man can be strong but sensitive and caring too.
This is an intense and passionate book, with nothing left undone. If you want subtlety and innuendo, this is not the book for you. Brielle and Luke have a chemistry that leads to many extremes, and their bedroom scenes burn the pages, they are so detailed and hot.
This one is for those brave and adventurous readers who like their romance super hot, with no-holds-barred participation by all the characters at some points, and with a happy ever after at the end.
The king has wants – needs – that can’t be met in his court. Just outside of his town, there are caves where the soldiers whisper of decadent things – kinky and naughty acts – are performed. With some liquid courage, the kind steals away one night and has a single, blissful night of submission and freedom. The following morning he rises, certain the previous night was some erotic, lovely dream, never to be reality.
I really enjoyed the writing style of this book. Set in the first person it’s like a snapshot into another world, and a man’s deepest, darkest fantasies. Tastefully written it is a strongly Dom/sub story not for the faint of heart. Despite the kink, there is a real connection between these men, and I was really delighted by the twist at the end. From start to finish I found this a warm, deeply emotional read with just enough spice to keep my mouth watering. A wonderful tale set in a world of kings and castles, dungeons and hidden caves. Absolutely delightful.(less)
This is a must read if a reader is looking for a book that can turn an ordinary room into a steamy sauna. Ms. Holly has once again proved why her stories are so popular and sought after by writing a romance that satisfies both the romantic within and the naughty minx hidden deeper inside.
Trey, Zane and Rebecca are the people whose lives are irrevocably changed and forged by life events they had no control over when they were kids. The author introduces a reader at the very moment in time when choices are made that set them on the path to be the people they become.
It was made brutally clear in the first chapter that Trey and Zane made a harrowing escape by trusting each other and in doing so found the means to survive and thrive. That choice of trust blossomed and when the story opens up when they’re adults in the next chapter, I was able to see how wonderfully some things have changed, and tragically, how some things hadn’t.
Rebecca’s sad story is one of accidental genius in the face of adversity. That one tiny insignificant discovery lead to a life of hard earned successes which impressed me. When her adult story starts, I meet her just when she’s about to take the next big leap of faith as she fights to get a dream job. Unknowingly, she’s about to get more than a job, but a chance at a better life – bigger and more exciting than anything she could have dreamed.
And here is where Ms. Holly excelled. In a daring move, she used the very type of scenes that she writes so well and actually makes them show the progression of the relationship. Usually, I find too many sex scenes, no matter how well written, to be a drawback and I’m left feeling like the author was lazy in deciding to let the sex do the talking. Even though there were a few too many scenes in this book for my tastes, I cannot argue their effectiveness. In every scorching hot and tantalizing escapade, the relationship that grows between Rebecca, Trey and Zane is done best while they are having sex. The author accomplished this amazing feat by upping the ante in each encounter. Every time they got together, in whatever combination was needed at that moment, pushed the envelope and made demands on the characters’ emotions, feelings and ideas of commitment and willingness to compromise.
I was treated to some very detailed and adventurous lovemaking and pretty much every kind of combo of kink was attempted. Cars, elevators, public, private, wet or dry, bound or free, it was all there to play with and it was apparent that Ms. Holly knows how to make a person squirm, hyperventilate and come back for more. I kept flipping those pages at a furious pace – or, in my case, pushing that eReader button like a fiend.
The suspense and drama comes from the poisoned snake in the garden of love. The villain was effective and believable as a person who wants to ruin a good thing out of spite, jealousy and plain old vindictive vengeance. How this person was reigned in was pretty funny. I enjoyed the whole ‘secret agent’ feel to the scene. Zane is a classy guy.
The Billionaire Bad Boys Club was a fun, delicious and delightfully naughty adventure that was almost impossible to put down. Because of the author’s slow revealing of the heroes and heroine’s inner fears, worries, and their dreams, the characters have the ability to tap into a reader’s emotions. I fell in love with them as they fell in love with each other; although I’m pretty sure they had a lot more fun than me.
Pick up your own copy and see why Ms. Holly is the queen of complicated sexual relationships. She makes it work, makes a reader care for her characters and has us loving every kinky step along the way. I can’t wait for the next sexy adventure.(less)
Gerard and Cliff have a Newfoundland puppy, one who has just covered most surfaces in the library in big globs of mud. Complete polar opposites, Gerard and Cliff have a tumultuous relationship, both deepened and exacerbated by Mischa, Cliff’s puppy. Neat, finicky and a bit uptight, Gerard doesn’t seem to understand his attraction to relaxed, slightly hippie-ish Cliff. Neither can Cliff explain his continual attraction to and desire for Gerard. While cleaning up the library Cliff stumbles onto Gerard’s kinkier secret stash, and that leads to them both exploring their boundaries further, with surprising and delightful results.
I really enjoyed the depth of the bond between Gerard and Cliff, and Mischa – their puppy – was a fantastic addition to the story. Despite the fact Gerard and Cliff have almost nothing in common at first glance their attraction is easy to see and their growing love for one another is wonderful to read. A fair bit of kinky spice keeps the pages turning quickly and I’d enjoy reading more about these two. By the end of the short story I really felt like they had so much more to explore and even found myself thinking curiously about them what new steps they’d continue to take together.
This is a really good, hot story with sizzling sex that isn’t over the top. Very enjoyable.
Zara did not realize the inner strength she had until Charlie introduced her to a life of corsets and power. The type of power that all of us women possess, but many never seem to tap into. This power is something I still cannot truly understand, so it made me root for Zara immediately. This new found womanhood and control is what she needs to in turn be able to help Charlie get past his emotional blockage–if she ever can. Or she may have to use her knew founded power to find a man who can fully appreciate the woman she was and the one she has become.
Charlie was a man who intrigued me immediately because of his emotional restraint as well as his chivalrous nature. He is always so diplomatic even when others seem to lose their cool. It made me want to understand the man behind the masks and find out what made him tick other than seeing a woman in a corset, of course. I have to say that the deeper I dove into the story and the characters the more I wanted to know. Even at the end of the story I felt as if I could continue to learn so much more about the guarded man who has achieved so much in his life.
The storyline was sometimes playful and others deadly serious. This rollercoaster of events and emotions can pique the interest of any reader. Additionally, while this was a modern day setting I had a bit of a vintage feeling to me as well. Maybe it was Zara’s fascination with vintage clothing, or Charles’ need to maintain his family’s historical views, but I could have easily have seen this story set in 1812 and easily as current day. This ability to bridge timelines really made the story even more entertaining. While many other stories I feel almost anyone can enjoy this story is truly one of those stories that everyone will find endearing and I would truly say if you enjoy romance novels you will definitely enjoy this story.(less)
When Syria decides she wants to learn some hot new skills to tempt her lover, will she be the one tied up in knots?
Syria and Tyson are hot and heavy, except for when he has to be away with his work. As a photographer, Syria has meet some very sexy clients and is now craving more. When Mia makes a surprise visit and things get a little hot and heavy, she invites her to meet a Shibari expert. Madam Takahashi is a severe woman but one that Syria can learn from. Her adventures in the art of the rope are about to begin.
Author Starla Cole has a great series with The Boudoir Sessions. If you missed the first two, I highly suggest getting them and reading them in order. You won’t be disappointed. A hot Santa and some smoking hot pirate models await. The depth of character in these books is spot on, down to the emotional response as Syria learns new skills. Whether it is ménage or rope work, these books are addictive. In Goddess of Bondage, Syria continues her journey by going to a bondage exhibition with Mia and a whole new adventure ensues. The other great thing about this book is the links at the back so you as a reader can see exactly what the author is writing about. Links to the Knotty Boys Coin Knot and Corselet ties are provided. The Knotty Boys are leading experts in the art of rope bondage and if you want to learn from some of the best, you owe it to yourself to check out their photography and tips. There is even a music link to get yourself into the right mindset. Perfect.
There was nothing I didn’t like about this book. The flow was amazing, the characters delicious and the right amount of peril and pleasure were balanced out. There was a hot scene with fisting, some really hot video phone sex, voyeurism and lots more surprises at the Shibari event. This book was like drinking a salted caramel mocha while you are wrapped in your favorite blanket. Wonderful!
If you want to find yourself a new author that you will fall in love with, then you have to read Starla Cole’s Boudoir Sessions.(less)
Being an online therapist has its challenges and Julia is headed for a major conflict of interest over her fascination with her client, Daniel.
Enveloped in her growing desire to know more about the world of bondage and BDSM, Julia oversteps the boundaries of her role as a therapist and agrees to meet her client Daniel at his dungeon. A Dom and owner of Journeys, Daniel is a master in his universe and intends to show Julia what it means to be a sub under his control.
Early into the book, I found myself wondering why Julia would allow herself to go beyond the constraints of her position of therapist, but as the story kept moving forward I understood perfectly. Daniel is a hottie and his masterful presence would have tested any woman’s boundaries. Agreeing to one week of training to better understand the lifestyle, Julia rushes headlong into one of the most intense experiences a person can have.
Being a reader of BDSM erotica and a student of the lifestyle, I have looked into the use of the title “master”. Most of the literature I have come across and from my experience, “master” is either used when you are in a dedicated relationship that is very close to a marriage commitment or are in a M/s (master, slave) arrangement. The use of the term master in this book felt a little premature to me. Using “Sir” would have been a better choice, but I also understand that the term, just like the lifestyle, can be used with varied degrees of involvement. In this short term scenario, having the sub call the dominant “master” made me question it a little more than I would have normally, but again, to each reader goes the experience and preference.
Overall, the interaction between Daniel and Julia was hot and the author did a great job of ratcheting up the sexual tension. The scene where Daniel circles Julia to access her level of fear or nervousness was really done well. You could see it in your mind like a movie playing out across the screen. Different BDSM scenarios that delve into voyeurism make things very intense and I found this book to be one that kept my interest.
If you want a read that brings BDSM and voyeurism to the cutting edge of patient-client relations then this one is for you.
Ellis Parker met Maxwell Clark at a Post-Traumatic stress counseling group for ex-soldiers after Afghanistan tours. Sensing their kindred spirits, the two men become friends, then confidants. As their bonds deepen they start confessing fantasies, and Clarke admits his frustration at being a Dominant unable to find a compatible submissive. The two men start exploring with delightful satisfaction resulting for them both.
Almost immediately after starting this novella jumps back into the past and the majority of the story is Ellis re-living his and Clark’s first sexual experience together. I found this style somewhat confusing, but was quickly lost to the hot, sensual and strongly BDSM themed scene was an intoxicating read. Finally for the last few pages it jumps back into the present. The story ends on a slightly unfinished note – leaving the reader wanting more – but in particular I found myself curious by what would have been the following scene. The authors leave a tantalizing vision of what’s to come, but wrap it up before this event unfolds. I was left both satisfied with what is written, but also wanting more, in particular some resolution between the potential upcoming threesome of Clark, his partner Daniel and Ellis.
Despite the fact this isn’t traditional, it’s a wonderful story, deeply graphic without being over the top. I found the scenes tastefully and erotically written – not at all distressing, overblown or harsh. There’s plenty of chemistry and spice, and I’d suggest this as a good place for people wanting to delve further into reading of the BDSM lifestyle without jumping in head-first to anything overtly hard core.
I love the works of Mychael Black. Even when short in nature, the stories carry so much weight and make me think about them far after the last page. Sure there are moments where I have to reread, but it’s because I want to get all the details. There’s so much packed into this work that I didn’t want to miss a thing.
Robbie and Seth have a tattooing business. Well, had. There’s been a robbery and the store is a mess. I liked the pairing of Robbie and Seth. Robbie is all "balls to the wall" anger and Seth is almost zen-like. When they get together, they combust.
This short isn’t for the faint of heart. Though the characters don't live the BDSM lifestyle, there are aspects of it that are rough in nature. For me, the spanking was written with a tender touch. Mychael Black knows how to wring every last drop of emotion from a sex scene and this has a couple of them.
If you want a story that shows unending tenderness with a rough edge, then this might be the book for you. (less)
Can you go wrong with a ghost story set in the Louisiana bayou? Never!
"Whispers in the Dark" starts with the hero, Louis Beekman, on the plane to Louisiana. He had just inherited Love Alley, a mansion that served as a brothel two-hundred years ago. As Louis falls asleep on the plane, he's assaulted by erotic dreams of a dark haired woman. From that very first sex scene to the very last one, the pages melted from the scorching hotness of the words on them.
The heroine of this story is Cory Lavalle, a small town psychic with a skill that comes and goes and couldn't be controlled. She doesn't make much on her gift but when the voices speak, they have something to tell, and they tell her a lot at Love Alley.
Louis doesn't believe in ghosts but when his tools travel off on their own accord, the power goes in and out whenever it chooses to, and when a roll of toilet paper falls and rolls toward him when he needs it most, he decides that maybe there's something inside his house. He summons Cory to help him with his problem but he doesn’t expect her to be causing a strained problem in his pants.
Louis was a real man. Normally, when reading erotic romance, or romance in general, I'm forced to put up with overly macho or overly feminine men who don't seem realistic to me. I didn't have that problem with this book. He spoke like a man, thought like a man, even drank like a man. His fascination with sex and the sexy vixen twin spirits added comic relief to the story. Near the end when Cory asked him for a magnifying glass and his first thought was that maybe his junk became magically small actually made me laugh out loud. I love this guy! And I could totally see why Cory fell in love with him, too.
Cory was the perfect heroine for our sexy hero. She was one of those women who wasn't phased by Louis. She didn't take his nonsense. Their banter was realistic and made me smile throughout the whole book.
Besides Cory and Louis, there are some entertaining supporting characters as well. Honey was a serial wife who was obsessed with sex and her own perfectly implanted boobs. Upon laying her eyes on Louis she vowed to get into his bed and maybe even snag him as husband number 100 or whatever. Unfortunately for her, Louis wanted nothing to do with her. At first, she started out as a bit of an antagonist but upon the introduction to Maurice, she decided to lust after him instead and left our hero alone. Although I never warmed up to Honey, I still found some entertainment in her.
My favorite element of the book was the ghost story. A haunted brothel could only mean whispered voices about anal sex, Ouija boards talking about breasts, and of course there are those blonde twins Louis so wanted to play with.
All in all, it was a great book with great characters and a downright unforgettable hero. I hated to say goodbye to those characters at the end but I'm also motivated to check out other books by these two lovely authors.(less)
Josie is in need of a good spanking and after much searching, she has found just the man to do it. After making a date with “Sir Dom” to fulfill the fantasies she has harbored for years, including during her failed relationship with her ex, her excitement knows no bounds. Until she meets her dom, the ex-boyfriend Gavin.
Gavin and Josie have great chemistry throughout the whole story and their foreplay was really hot. Josie couldn’t seem to let go of her old view of Gavin though and she kept marveling at the change in him. All through their sex, she wished they hadn’t wasted their time together in their previous relationship, rather than concentrating on enjoying the exciting turn of events.
The story certainly packs a lot of hot sex into such a small amount of space and the well-developed plot rolls smoothly, going from one sensual scene into another with barely a whimper. Although Gavin and Josie broke it off for obvious reasons, the newly reunited couple wastes no time in trying out their complementary fetishes on each to their delight.
This book is one hot read and for readers who enjoy couples reuniting to ignite that old flame with a light BDSM touch, Ms. Tyler has penned a great read.(less)
Christmas: a time for love and togetherness. That is what Chase wants with Raylan, but what he has is back to back gigs playing with the band, fending off advances from bandmate Dave, and lonely nights. Raylan is his inspiration, and Chase hasn’t written a decent song since Raylan left for New York six weeks ago.
Now, it’s Christmas Eve, Raylan is back in town, and Chase can’t wait to see him. Raylan makes plans to meet Chase for a drink before they head home, but they have things they need to discuss. The past keeps intruding on their togetherness, and when Chase arrives, one of Raylan’s exes is there. Then there are the strange and anonymous phone calls Chase has been getting, asking about their relationship. All these things are starting to create doubts in both mens' minds, doubts they need to lay to rest once and for all.
Can they get to the heart of the matter, and just have faith in each other? Can these two dismiss the past and move forward for a happy ever after?
Megan Slayer takes us back to Ohio, and to the trials and tribulations of early days and long distance relationships. I love her small town stories, and this is a wonderful visit to Kenton, Ohio for the holidays. The characters, even the secondary ones, and strong and many faceted, with emotions that run high and all over the spectrum.
Chase is the gorgeous musician, writing songs that show the world his softer side. He has a big dose of insecurity in him, and watching him on this roller coaster ride was really fantastic. He is loyal and honest, and still getting used to being in this relationship. I like Chase, with his highs and lows, and his fears all out there in the open for all to see.
Raylan is the more serious of the couple, but still has his own share of insecurity. All he knows for sure is that he wants to be with Chase and no one else.I liked that he was ready to stand up to the ghosts, and people, from his past to defend what he feels for Chase, and I loved his strength and desire for the man he loves.
Chase and Raylan are great together, but they are also major ‘drama queens’ where their emotions are involved. This is the story of a new relationship, and the pitfalls that can come between two people in love if they aren’t careful. I really enjoyed the little things these two did for each other, and there is one big surprise Raylan has for Chase that I don’t want to reveal here. But it is the high point of the story, that one perfect moment when you just know these two have something real and beautiful between them.
I recommend this to those who love happy ever after, but one warning: tissues and ice in equal measures are needed for this one.
I’m not usually a fan of historical erotic romances; however, this one pleased me in many ways.
Lady Annabelle was the opposite of Marianne. She was warm, and passionate, and not afraid to show what she was thinking or feeling. She never hid behind masks. Where Marianne needed to dominate and to cause pain in order to feel pleasure, Annabelle was tender and submissive. As a couple, they were perfect for each other. Their love scenes ranged from sensual to hot, and always left this reader satisfied.
Although it was expressed that both women loved the same man, I felt there was also a truly deep emotional connection between the women. At the heart of the novella, this was a love story between two women, and the man was there mainly to supply his manly body parts.
I enjoyed this story very much and didn’t want it to end. It was an emotional read with great character development, a good plot, and amazing sex. The book carried me on a sensual and amazing journey right up to the last chapter. Without giving away the ending I'll simply say it wasn't what I expected or desired. After I finished the book, I actually checked out the author's website and blog just to see if there was any mention of a sequel for "What the Mistress Did". Sadly, I didn't find any plans for a second book. I really wish there would be a followup, as I'm dying to know what happens next.
All in all, this book contained out of this world sexiness, two heroines that were both very fun reads, a love story that came alive through the pages, and a rather realistic ending. This unique story was memorable and I recommend it to other historical erotic romance fans.
Get ready for a wild ride with chills and thrills because six authors are going to take your mind on a roller coaster of adventure as they explore the spicier side of romance and passion.
Captain of Nara’s Heart By Laurann Dohner is all about being in the wrong place at the right time. I thought the premise to be incredibly sexy and well done. It didn’t beat me over the head with sex scene after sex scene. After the first incredible and well described event, the story focused on the growing love Nara had for Cathian. She got to know the man behind the body and the mind behind his very talented tongue. I was charmed as to how strong-willed the hero was, to the point that he’d deny his heart because he wanted to protect her. I was equally impressed with Nara’s ultimate determination to chart her own course and grab the brass ring even if she had to hog-tie someone to do it. I loved the ending: basically he was wrong, she was right and because of Nara’s stubbornness, they get their happily ever after. Women really do know what’s best for their men.
Dragon Heat By Mel Tescho has a bit more action and drama to spice things up. It’s a story about a woman being duped and, whether by accident or design, discovers the truth when she falls in love. It’s a great paranormal story with plenty of interesting tidbits about dragons and their capabilities. The tale also has a nasty villain that truly is scary because he had such power. Dragon Heat’s other accomplishment is that it made me want to know more about this dragon world that the author has created. There’s a bigger picture out there because someone has to free the captive ‘pets’ from their brainwashed state. This is certainly a sexy and well told story and is one of the reasons why I enjoy anthologies. I discover new authors and new interests and this short paranormal romance has captured my imagination. I’m hoping that maybe there’ll be another undiscovered dragon as hunky and as yummy as Benson, the hero in this story. Now that’s something worth investigating.
Dangerous Addiction By Desiree Holt is for the romance reader who likes to be seduced by the BDSM lifestyle. It’s actually pretty well done with a wonderful buildup to Cord and Fallon’s relationship. There’s the emotional vulnerability from Fallon and the need to heal and dominate and love from Cord. The ending is more of a happily for now as the story is more about their meeting and Fallon finally agreeing to leave her past behind by trusting Cord. It’s powerful, romantic and quite sensual. The way this installment was delivered, and how the characters were written, has created an avid curiosity to find out what it’s going to take to heal Fallon’s trauma completely, and how will Cord eventually reward her for giving her all to him. As it is, this tale ends with optimism and hope for their future. And, based on this little snippet, I bet it’s going to be powerfully sexy and entertaining. What fun!
Highland Tryst By Eliza Knight starts off pretty dramatic and then does a fast switch into giggles. From there it was sizzle and pop with a hunky Highlander and I had a ton of fun reading this very sensual and exciting tale. Ms. Knight was very inventive in how the hero and heroine explored their passion and I got a kick out of the choices the author made when it came to introducing Fin to the modern world. The part that had me giggling all over again was what the author decided to have the hero do for a job. It’s actually pretty cool but at the same time, imagining a solid, old-world Scottish warrior doing that kind of work gave me delicious goose bumps. What a terrific idea! This is a well told and thoroughly entertaining story with a delightful romance to satisfy any reader.
Tattoo Witch By Kathy Kulig opens up with a sexy but definitely sinister edge. The set up is innocent enough but very quickly turns scorching with elements of fear and anger to spice up the action. Not everything that sounds good is good. Yes, there is some incredible skin on skin action, even a brief stint with another couple. The writing was vivid and it captured the heated passion that drove the main characters. But when a person is told that there’s bad with the good, decent people can’t possibly imagine the lengths evil will go to in order to ruin them. Even though this is a very sexy tale, the motto, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is” applies in a big way. There is suspense in this short story. It’s their sense of determination and belief in what’s right that pulls the hero and heroine together to defeat what was thought undefeatable. This wasn’t an easy read for me but it’s definitely well done.
The Addiction By Jaid Black is the story I’d been waiting for. Figures it would come last in the anthology. I’m a fan of Ms. Black’s and somehow I knew that this was going to be the icing on an already yummy cake. I was right. The author set up the plot, conflict and character hook within the first few paragraphs. There’s the cynical and world-weary hero and the energetic, optimistic go-getter yet still sort of innocent heroine, and their worlds clash.
Ms. Black’s sense of humor and cleverly described bit of slapstick totally sucked me in. In such a short space, the author packed in a crazy but loving family, internal angst, gleeful manipulative friends and a wonderful surprise that embodies what romances do best – gives a reader the warm and fuzzies while providing them plenty of reasons to sweat and swoon. Ms. Black’s ability to create characters that seem real and alive is as vibrant a talent as ever. And this short story proves it.
Something Wicked This Way Comes covers the spectrum of readers’ tastes and satisfies on every level. Whether a reader is looking for a bit of sexual adventure, an out of this world experience or the simple beauty of “I love you”, it’s all here to discover in this wonderfully well-written anthology. There are things that made me gasp, had me laughing and giggling, or wide-eyed and reaching for the ice cubes. This book is a lot of fun and so engrossing, it could possibly make time cease to exist. It certainly felt that way to me and I enjoyed every second. If you’re feeling a wee bit wicked, then this is the book to read.
Megan Slayer has a way of bringing passion to life in her stories, and making each book a joy to read. With Under and Over It, she explores the sensual fetish of Shibari, the rope tying practice of bondage.
Regan Finley has specific ideas for his final for photography class, and those ideas include his best friend and roommate, Camryn Tate, and a ball of rope. Regan wants to explore things with Camryn, and not just for his project. He has wanted Cam since the first time he laid eyes on him, but is afraid that Cam isn’t into guys or the things Regan wants to do to and with him. Regan has never been dominant before, but Cam brings out something in him that he would love to explore. But asking Cam to be his model, and maybe more, has Regan terrified he will lose the best friend he has.
Camryn is a hot rocker in their Middle America home of Cleveland, and what Regan wants to do for this project scares him a little, but he trusts Regan to keep him safe. He’s never been into bondage or rope play, but he trusts Regan to explain every step as they go along. And besides, anything that gets Cam naked with Regan can’t be bad, right?
I enjoyed watching Regan and Cam discover what each liked, and their desire to be together. I was happy that she made sure Regan didn’t just push Cam into something without explaining and preparing him for it all. It made the story all the more touching to see to what lengths each would go to show their feelings.
Regan Finley is smart and talented, and just a bit of a nerd. But he is a fantastic photographer, and has a bright future ahead of him. He wants to finish his degree with an exhibition showing how people become bound to their lives and wants his roommate Camryn as his model. I love that Regan is not the macho all gung-ho guy, but has a lot of insecurity where Cam is concerned. I really liked the little things Regan does to convince Cam to pose, and to be with him.
Camryn Tate is magic when he is holding his guitar. A talented musician and songwriter, Cam has secrets and insecurities of his own. He doesn’t believe his luck that Regan feels the same about him as he does about Regan, and wonders why it took them so long to get together. I loved that although apprehensive, he trusts Regan to take care of him and not hurt him. I cried when he finally opened up and was honest with Regan about his past, and the reasons for his doubts.
This is an exploration of passion by two people learning to please each other, and learning what their limits are, in life and in love. It is a compliment to Ms Slayer that, once I started reading, gender ceased to matter, and the love story came to the forefront here. These are two people, learning to love and please each other and planning a future together, and nothing is more special than that to me. If you aren’t comfortable with man-to-man touching, and more, this is not the book for you, but I enjoyed this, and look forward to more from Ms. Slayer in the future.
Tight End is the third addition to the Gridiron Gods series and it picks up where the last book left off. This was a fast paced read that had me captivated until the very end. The whole concept of a shifter who can only shift with their mate to make one animal is interesting to me. The shifter aspect and the tender love story between the main characters had me under the Gridiron Gods magical spell.
Ryan is the tight end for the Grizzlies and we soon learn that he likes sex and a healthy dose of dirty talk while engaging in it. Ryan is a narratophiliac - he loves dirty talk and it turns him on. This is a new word to my vocabulary but the definition became quite obvious in the first few pages. Ryan is coming to terms with the need to find that one special person. He feels the pull of something bigger than himself but has no clue as to the why of it. When he gets a call from a mysterious man named Phillip he starts to think maybe he's found the one man that will dominate him perfectly in the bedroom.
Phillip is an older man who is smitten with the Grizzly’s tight end. Phillip knows about the Gridiron Gods and longs to have that connection with his sloth and his mate. It was quite heartbreaking to learn Phillip’s back story. The pain he has endured for the past thirty-five years was extremely saddening. This a wealthy man who would do anything to have the special bond with another man, a man he can fall in love with. I admired this character's ability to go after what he wanted and protect what he holds dear. Everyone should have a soul mate like Phillip.
Phillip’s overprotective nature pushes Ryan to stand firm on his beliefs. Losing someone special to him has Phillip on guard to protect Ryan but Ryan doesn’t fully understand and makes it clear he doesn’t need to be coddled like a small child. This is what puts the conflict in motion and had my heart pounding to get to the resolution as soon as possible.
I really enjoyed the interaction between Ryan and Phillip. Where Phillip is prim and proper, Ryan is a headstrong says-what-he-thinks kind of guy. It made for some good laughs. Every sexual interlude they share is packed full of dirty talk that is written in a very descriptive manner. Tight End is the definition of erotic romance. Ms. McLeod painted a picture so vividly I felt like I was a spectator in Ryan and Phillip's lives and bedroom.
This series is getting better with every new installment. Tight End isn’t a long read and could be read within one night. Quite honestly, once you start it, it might be hard to put down. If you’re a fan of this series we get some answers to questions that have lingered from the previous books.
I wholeheartedly recommend adding this book to your reading list!
It’s party time and what’s a girl to do when she is one of the party favors? Why manipulate the pieces so she gets to play with the Mistress she wants the most of course!
Jovina is a girl on a mission. She wants to be the weekend plaything of the larger than life Domme, Mistress Martie. When her friend Avery shows her a way to make sure this happens she jumps at the chance. The events that follow are an answer to Jovina’s most perfect imaginings, but they also lead her into facing some of her worst fears.
Being at the weekend play party, Jovina is able to let down her hair and be who she is. In her life with her family, she has to conform to society’s ideals. That does not allow her to be the lesbian she knows she is, deep in her heart. Martie, or M, teaches her to embrace her inner self and with each spicy encounter, she comes closer to understanding that no matter what resistance she faces with friends and family, she needs to embrace her true self. At times, this is very painful for her and as a reader, your heart bleeds at the anguish that radiates off the page.
The sexual chemistry between Jovina and Martie is a five alarm fire and the BDSM elements make this story a real page turner. I loved the way the author captured the longings of Jovina’s heart and her conflict about who she is. It was spot on. i really felt everything she was going through, from the orgasmic ecstasy of being at the weekend play party, to the disgust she felt at certain situations with a male dom and her interactions with her family.
If you are looking for an engaging read that will hook you from page one, then you have to check out Party Favor. This is one party you won’t want to miss!
