On the very first page, Captain Kane Kessler comes at Joshua in supercharged inferno of white-hot sexual heat. And it just gets better from there.
I just love Josh. He’s such a well-crafted character. A handsome, sexy yet somewhat nerdy bookworm. He’s sweet, funny and so touchingly giddy over the captain. Yet he’s all man; there’s nothing feminine about him. Ms. Blackwell has certainly mastered the art of creating complex masculine characters.
This story has all the humor and emotion that made The Captain’s Man so enjoyable. It’s a very novel feeling to laugh so hard while at the same time feeling my heart contract over what the characters are going through. Poignantly funny is the best way to describe it.
Kane Kessler is stern, commanding, tender, and sexy all at once. In short, alpha hot. We get a deeper view into Kane in this sequel and the conflict between him and Josh deepens. Kane is not as sure of his own emotions and this along with Josh’s insecurities fuels their conflict. The Christmas they share is so touchingly romantic it made me cry a little.
The sex is…wild, unabashed, wickedly sexy. This not for the faint of heart. The conflict is entwined through the whole story. There’s so much fire and emotion between these two. They bring out such explosive reactions in each other. The midpoint presents real emotional dangers from two directions.
There’s not a single boring moment in the story. Ms. Blackwell kept me on the edge of my seat for one afternoon. It was impossible to stop reading. I had to find out what happened next. This story is wild passion, conflict, fury, tenderness, one steady, outrageous roller coaster ride for the emotions. This is erotic romance at it’s best. It’s definitely got a special spot reserved on my keeper shelf.
Does age ever really matter? Or is personality and character enough to make up for a few years either way? This has been a question that has plagued many over the years and is an important part to this story. Our two main characters couldn’t be more different, but that is also part of the attraction that sparks the pages of this book aflame.
Felicia, our heroine, is a newly divorced woman turning a pivotal age and is ready to let loose (in a controlled way of course) with a night out on the town with her best friends. But Felicia doesn’t expect to meet a man who can make her want to beg for his attention and set her skin on fire with his touch. This is all new territory for her, and not something she is completely comfortable with in the beginning. But someone is trying to make decisions for her, trying to convince her that this life change is bad and that just makes Felicia want it even more. Can being in the arms of this man free her or will it make an outsider in their relationship enraged enough to kill?
Garrett has always had a thing for older women, their curves, their minds, everything about them revs his engine. The calm controlled beauty of Felicia is exactly what he has been looking for. But will his secret past and her apprehension to their relationship fizzle the fire or make it burn hotter? And once Felicia is threatened, to what extent is Garrett willing to go to get the woman of his dreams?
This book was something different for me, but in the end I found it quite enjoyable. The characters were well rounded and the plot had just enough suspense to keep me page turning until the end. I only wish the story would have had more meat to it about the developing relationship between Garrett and Felicia. Sam Cheever is a talented author, however, and is someone I will definitely look for when it comes time to shop for more books. Anyone looking for a good read will enjoy this story.
Eastern Ambitions is the third installment of the Compass Brothers books, and the most intensely emotional so far.
As each Compton brother turns eighteen, they leave home to follow their dreams. First Silas, then Seth, and now the twins are about to embark on their own adventures. While Sawyer has opted for a military career, Sam is determined to go to college back east. He wants all the things not available on the ranch, and he believes he will find it all in New York.
Fast-forward seven years, and Sam is where he has worked hard to be: a successful trader in a prestigious investment firm in the city, with a chance to become the youngest vice president in the history of the firm. He just has to succeed with one presentation and he is in. Then there is Belinda, the woman he has been seeing, and the night before his big day, she finally takes the relationship to the next level with a wild night in Sam’s bed. But things aren’t what they seem, and the next day, Sam is not only not given the promotion, he is fired for ‘stealing’ her proposal, and for harassment. Seems she set him up for a major fall.
Sam decides to head back to Wyoming to lick his wounds, but when he calls home to let them know, he is blindsided with news that knocks the situation he is in right out of his head. Going home becomes more important, and he leaves immediately.
Life is much the same as ever at the ranch, but as Sam comes to terms with all that is happening, he meets Cindi Middleton, the ranch office manager, and sparks strike between them. Cindi is wounded, not physically, but inside there are scars and secrets. With so much going on, can they help each other through the tough times ahead at Compass Ranch? Can they trust each other enough to reveal their innermost secrets, secrets that are very much the same? Can Sam learn to not judge without all the facts before opening his mouth?
I love the world and the characters that Mari Carr and Jayne Rylon have so marvelously crafted. There is an electricity flowing through this story, a sense of things flowing just below the surface about to erupt, that draws the reader in with the first words. This story grabbed me by the throat and wouldn’t let go until the final sentence.
Sam Compton is the image of the successful young businessman, and he has achieved what he wanted. But when it all goes down the drain, the only consolation he can think of is home. Sam has matured, and has picked up some decidedly kinky habits in the big city, and he knows those things will be put aside when he goes home, and he is okay with it. I like Sam and his ability to realize what is really important in life. I enjoyed watching as he kept messing up what could be the best thing to ever cross his path.
Cindi Middleton works and lives at Compton Ranch, and she also plays there. She is strong and smart, and determined to not be hurt ever again. She has her ways of coping, and if those ways include playing with the ranch hands to everyone’s mutual pleasure, well she’s fine with it. I loved Cindi’s honesty with all the men in her life, and her ability to be exactly who she is. When she meets Sam, I liked that she finally met someone she could relate to on a special level, if he can just accept her secrets and not walk away.
This story is deeper and more emotional than the first two books, and there are many secrets that need to come out. The connections between the main and secondary characters in this story are expertly intertwined, with everyone filling some need in another. But this is definitely Sam and Cindi’s story, and they have some major barriers to get through to get to their happy ending. There are several hot spots in this, and the scene in the yard with Cindi and the men is one of the hottest things I have read in a while. That was the moment when Cindi and Sam realized they were perfect for each other, and it was written to perfection.
This is one very hot romance, but bring a huge box of tissues, because this one will bring the tears, both from laughter and from sadness.
Kara Mikos: beautiful heiress, longs for the one thing in life she's never found. Honesty. A man who wants her for who she is as a person and not the title she carries as heiress to a great fortune. Kara has never found a man who would tell her the truth, not even her father. For her, the parable of the poor little rich girl who has never found love is true. Her answer: To don a disguise and secretly set sail on a cruise ship as an anonymous single woman looking for a fling.
When Kara meets Harper Long in the ship's lounge, fling doesn't come close to describing how hard she falls for the sexy, muscular and confident man. Soon they are having wildly passionate, raging hot sex in her room. Kara feels in heaven with the freedom she possesses with her anonymous persona. Nothing has ever come close to the amazing lovemaking she experiences with Harper.
Little does she know, that Harper is a private security expert hired by her father to guard and protect her because of a kidnapping threat he has received. When her father had warned her earlier of the threat, Kara did not believe him because of his previous deceits. Kara has come to expect her father's exaggerations and overprotection.
Harper is usually a professional in every way when he is on the job. But when he sees Kara, all thoughts except his undeniable attraction to her go straight out the window and he does what he has never done before: seduces his client's daughter. In no time at all he has lost his heart to the sexy beauty. The problem is, Harper hasn't blown his cover and Kara doesn't know that he's her father's hire.
When it becomes apparent someone is following her and Harper immediately goes into professional mode, Kara realizes who he is and hits the roof. He has deceived her when she believed he was the only man who had ever been honest with her. Not only is she angry, she is crushed and refuses to have anything personal to do with him again. But in light of the escalating danger surrounding Kara, Harper refuses to leave her alone. She has other plans though, and slips away from him as he sleeps.
Wynter Daniels has taken the tale of the over-protected rich girl who falls in love with her bodyguard and given it a breath of fresh air. There is exciting sexual tension and real 'edge of your seat' suspense in this sexy-sweet and fast-paced little thriller. She really packed a lot into this short story. I enjoyed this more realistic take on the familiar fairy tale very much. Harper is one hot alpha male who nearly pounces off the pages. I sure liked him!
I also was very impressed with the believable and satisfying ending which left me hopeful and pleased. Ms. Daniels has imbued the people in her story with dimension and real character which endeared me to them and had me cheering them on to the end. For, in the end, Kara, Harper and even Kara's father all find the higher ground and are left with the great rewards of overcoming their challenges.
I eagerly await the next installments in this new series and hope that they are as entertaining and inspiring as this one is. I recommend, Sizzle at Sea, book one in the Long and Hard series to all romance lovers who want a dose of exciting adventure with their 'sizzle'!
The name says it all in this scorching love story. Heat radiates from the pages! The intensity of the passion between long parted lovers, Jill and Gabe is consuming in this fully envisioned and expertly told tale of unrequited love.
News magazine writer, Jill Danvers has returned to her home town to cover the big bicentennial celebration coming up. She immediately runs into her first love, Gabe Carter, who ten years earlier left her for another woman after a summer-long affair that became the best time of her life. Gabe suddenly left to marry the woman he was seeing before. The woman who stepped forward to claim she carried his child.
Sexy, hard-bodied, good looking lawyer Gabe has spent the last ten years pining for Jill and attempting to contact her. However, Jill has refused all calls or contact from him, believing him to be a two-timing player who trampled her heart. What Jill doesn't know is that Gabe divorced his wife following her miscarriage of their baby.
Jill had been involved with a nice man for several years named, Mike, who taught her how to have an exciting and fulfilling sex life, but she never felt real love for him like she did for Gabe. Since Mike, she hasn't been interested in any men and has stayed out of the dating scene, keeping to herself. That is, until she meets Gabe again after ten years.
The heat between them blazes and the sparks fly hot the minute they run into each other. Jill can't resist Gabe's raw sexuality and immediately they are drawn into an exciting, erotic affair that gains in intensity and depth every time they are together. The scalding sex scenes in this novel had me turning up the A/C constantly. I love the natural way that Ms. Holt weaves the evolving relationship between the lovers with the hottest sex scenes imaginable. This book just grows hotter with every turn of the page.
Gabe is a dominant and very imaginative lover who has met his sexual and emotional match in Jill, who can't get enough of this exciting, attentive and powerful lover. One thing I really love about the relationship between Jill and Gabe is the layers and depth of their love. Gabe is not only a strong, dominant lover, he is nurturing and tender as well, giving his heart openly and completely. At first he is too insecure to say the L word, which is often even the case with very confident men. He is worried that Jill will turn tail and run, as she did ten years before, never giving him a chance to explain.
There is also a foul air hanging over the upcoming celebration in the town. I don't want to give away the plot, but there are some very interesting developments which Jill and Gabe become key to solving and there is a menacing element of danger in this sub plot.
The main story is the evolving love and trust between the two main characters, and it is a sweet and sexy story, indeed. I found this to be a hot, engaging romance that I am eager to recommend to all. It has something for almost everyone in the 'heat' department, so be prepared to be very entertained. I say, go get a copy of, Night Heat now!
Megan Slayer has a way of bringing passion to life in her stories, and making each book a joy to read. With Under and Over It, she explores the sensual fetish of Shibari, the rope tying practice of bondage.
Regan Finley has specific ideas for his final for photography class, and those ideas include his best friend and roommate, Camryn Tate, and a ball of rope. Regan wants to explore things with Camryn, and not just for his project. He has wanted Cam since the first time he laid eyes on him, but is afraid that Cam isn’t into guys or the things Regan wants to do to and with him. Regan has never been dominant before, but Cam brings out something in him that he would love to explore. But asking Cam to be his model, and maybe more, has Regan terrified he will lose the best friend he has.
Camryn is a hot rocker in their Middle America home of Cleveland, and what Regan wants to do for this project scares him a little, but he trusts Regan to keep him safe. He’s never been into bondage or rope play, but he trusts Regan to explain every step as they go along. And besides, anything that gets Cam naked with Regan can’t be bad, right?
I enjoyed watching Regan and Cam discover what each liked, and their desire to be together. I was happy that she made sure Regan didn’t just push Cam into something without explaining and preparing him for it all. It made the story all the more touching to see to what lengths each would go to show their feelings.
Regan Finley is smart and talented, and just a bit of a nerd. But he is a fantastic photographer, and has a bright future ahead of him. He wants to finish his degree with an exhibition showing how people become bound to their lives and wants his roommate Camryn as his model. I love that Regan is not the macho all gung-ho guy, but has a lot of insecurity where Cam is concerned. I really liked the little things Regan does to convince Cam to pose, and to be with him.
Camryn Tate is magic when he is holding his guitar. A talented musician and songwriter, Cam has secrets and insecurities of his own. He doesn’t believe his luck that Regan feels the same about him as he does about Regan, and wonders why it took them so long to get together. I loved that although apprehensive, he trusts Regan to take care of him and not hurt him. I cried when he finally opened up and was honest with Regan about his past, and the reasons for his doubts.
This is an exploration of passion by two people learning to please each other, and learning what their limits are, in life and in love. It is a compliment to Ms Slayer that, once I started reading, gender ceased to matter, and the love story came to the forefront here. These are two people, learning to love and please each other and planning a future together, and nothing is more special than that to me. If you aren’t comfortable with man-to-man touching, and more, this is not the book for you, but I enjoyed this, and look forward to more from Ms. Slayer in the future.
In a hurry, but need a quick jolt of sensual excitement and seduction? Hop right into this very steamy tale because each command, every quivering sigh delivering a breathy ‘yes’, will jumpstart a reader’s pulse into overdrive. Once again Ms. Alex zeroes in on what a woman likes to read that seduces her mind and her senses.
The first thing I’m happy about in this story is that it’s not an overnight quickie. The protagonists have been building a relationship between stops at the airport as they travel on their jobs. Well, I’m assuming about the guy because the story is mostly told in the heroine’s first person point of view. The fascinating thing that the author did was to not only keep the man’s name a secret, but the woman’s as well. It’s quite effective. I’m as much in the dark as Mr. Terminal Two even though a reader get’s into ‘Beautiful’s’ head to understand her reservations, her worries and her dilemma. I understood that in life, this woman also referred to as “Bella”, is as independent, strong and stubborn as one could wish because she’s had to survive and thrive in a cut-throat business world. And the mysterious man with the Italian accent demands total control over her which she grants him, though not without a reader understanding just how hard some of his demands are for her. Then again, he’s also taking her passion and wishes very seriously and he grants them in grand style. It’s quite the turn on.
The Man from Terminal Two is as commanding a Dom as one would wish. Caring yet firm and giving generously to aid her pleasure, yet a reader will understand that this mystery man wants more from her. He’s intuitive however, and tells her what she needs to hear. I really believe he understands her more than she realizes. It made me wonder just how much he’s guessed about who she really is just from a few things the heroine said. One thing’s for sure, he has power, influence and commands respect from those he calls friends. Nothing illustrated that more effectively than the scene in the restaurant. Only really good friends, those a person could trust with their lives, would have helped out with such enthusiasm and support. One of the women was an acquaintance from his past and his current relationship with her speaks to a man very sure of himself and of a decent disposition. What must it be like to place yourself in such confident and capable hands utterly and completely? If it’s anything like what happens in this story, I think I’d faint from overstimulation.
I’m not kidding about the sex being stimulating. Yes, the scenes are written well and are quite effective but what is more impressive is that it aroused my mind, my imagination and took me where the author wanted me to go as The Man from Terminal Two worked his sensual magic. Having a glass of ice water nearby might be a good thing.
The editing was almost perfect. The only thing that wasn’t clear to me was the scene with the three women. I’m not too sure what was happening as far as how the heroine fit into the picture since it was happening behind her. I was a little confused. So, because she didn’t know, exactly, I didn’t, and that’s the challenge and frustration of writing first person point of view. But that didn’t ruin my enjoyment because I found out that this is a sensual cliffhanger. There is more to come, pun intended.
Layover Liaisons is just as it says; it takes place at one of the heroine’s layovers and it’s finite. When I realized that the next morning was it - the end, it just about made me come out of my chair. It can’t be the end! He’s getting those feelings of permanence, I just know it! She’s coming to a crossroads in her life where she is going to have to choose which is more important, the quality of her life or work reputation, and the book ended!
And that’s why I liked this book. I was so wrapped up in the hero seducing and wooing the heroine, the telling of the tale was so effective and convincing, that I needed to know more. I needed to follow them to their next layover and see what happens next. How will he convince her to let go of all her fears? To trust him with absolutely everything? If this story wasn’t so well done, none of those questions would haunt me. Since they do, that means this short little gem is a winner. I enjoyed watching the chemistry sizzle and pop between them and was satisfactorily entertained.
I enjoy Ms. Alex’s style of writing and her ability to focus on what makes a reader feel like they’re in the bedroom, or restaurant, with the leading characters. Hot stuff!
Libraries are usually boring and quiet, right? Not in this story!!! The librarian gets some action in the stacks and elsewhere in the library. Even her assistant squeezes in some extracurricular time.
Sara Owens is the youngest assistant head librarian of special collections at the university library; she's only in her mid-twenties. She's a hard working, follow-the-rules type of person. She hasn't had a boyfriend in a while, but has been intrigued by a handsome British professor-type guy who keeps checking out books on various subjects. William Hammond has been doing research in the United States, but is stalling on his return to Europe due to his desire to become acquainted with Sara, the beautiful librarian. When Sara finally picks up on his hints, with some help from Veronica, the sparks fly between Sara and William. Sara does has moments of doubt when her sense of duty is at war with her desire for the handsome William, but he convinces her to fall for him.
Veronica’s job is not clearly stated, but she appears to work as a circulations clerk, checking books in and out. She's a college senior, working on her thesis in the library during her off-duty time. She aspires to be a librarian, hoping to go into the library sciences program as a grad student. Veronica has recently broken up with her boyfriend, Andrew, because she saw him kissing her roommate. Little did she know that it was a misunderstanding since Andrew had a very good reason for what he did. Andrew had to work hard to convince Veronica of the truth, so he used all of his manly talents to win her back.
The narrative is very descriptive and does not disappoint. Down time barely exists in this novella as we go from one sexy scene to the next. I was a bit concerned that Sara doesn’t know much about William before they get together, but this is an erotic novella after all. In real life, how many librarians would actually risk their jobs to have sex with a patron in the library while it’s open for business? This novella is in two parts, with Sara and William’s story in Part One and Veronica and Andrew’s story in Part Two. Both parts are full of hot scenes in the library, fulfilling the title of the book.
Lust in the Library is an erotic escapade sure to increase the temperature in any room you read it in. Be sure to have something or someone nearby to help you out when it gets too hot. (less)
A small town girl leaves for the big city, leaving behind her man and her past. But she finds that what she was looking for was in that same small town all along. Eden has always tried to please her parents and in doing so she left Vin and her hometown for what she thought she wanted; a so-called better life. Yet after living in New York for years, Eden finds herself longing for the past and one man in particular. When Eden returns for a reunion she doesn’t know what to expect. Will Vin even be there? Will he welcome her home with open arms or has she lost him forever?
There was so much emotion in this book. I enjoyed meeting both Vin and Eden. Vin may come from the wrong side of town but he's a good man and has done well for himself. Eden is more than what you see. She has finally started to realize just what it is she wants. I enjoyed seeing Eden finally start to grow up and come into her own.
The only thing that bothered me with this story was the characters constant berating of themselves. All the "woe is me" started to get to this reader and the constant fretting about not being good enough became a little much. I enjoyed the storyline but wished that there was more to the story than Eden and Vin complaining. The love these two have for each other is great and when they finally realize it, the sparks fly. While this book may not have been my favorite, I still enjoyed it and I am a huge fan of this author so will continue to look for more from her.(less)
Someone was instant messaging Kelly through Facebook, but it wasn’t anyone on her friends list. He could see and hear everything that was going on in her apartment, but she didn’t care or should she?
It’s been over a year since Kelly’s fiancé, Will, was gone and she is still having trouble letting go of him. She doesn’t care about much, including cleaning her apartment or stocking her refrigerator. However, having the air conditioning and water going out on a very hot day was just the last straw. She was fuming and decided to take it out on someone, perhaps the negligent superintendent or the annoying downstairs neighbor?
Kelly Minton is a writer of erotic stories, living in an apartment building owned by her father. She says what’s on her mind, usually in an abrasive manner, and occasionally including some profanities. She doesn’t have any patience for the usual societal niceties or for anything/anyone who didn’t serve her purposes. Paul Rucchio lives in the apartment right below Kelly’s and inadvertently opened some interesting mail addressed to Kelly because the mail carrier delivered her mail to his box in error. Paul is a lawyer and a nice guy; too nice to refuse requests for favors from anyone, even taciturn Kelly.
The plot was clever and worked well because the author skillfully put it together. Kelly didn’t know what hit her, but knew that her life was changing even though she was dragging her feet. Paul was thrust into the middle of Kelly’s life unwillingly, but was drawn in by her need for help. Both of them became stronger for each other and because of each other. At first I really didn’t like Kelly, but as she learned about herself and changed, I understood her more and liked her more.
Although Under My Skin was a short story, Ms. Fox had a lot packed into it, weaving in elements of surprise that worked so well that I was a very satisfied reader. I’m still thinking about Kelly, Will, and Paul several days later and re-reading my favorite parts of the story. I highly recommend this steamy short story with a great plot for anyone in need of a quick hot read. (less)
Does she want sex with a woman or sex with a man? That’s the big question that Mary Ann Everdene is struggling with as she samples each kind.
In her quest for the answer to this very important question, Mary Ann Everdene journeys through heartbreak and sexual exploration. She begins her exploration with Jenny Ellery, a maid from Long Livery Hall. Along the way, Virginia Windlesham, daughter of Long Livery Hall’s master, wreaks havoc into their lives and everyone else’s lives as well. Colum Lanyon is the head footman of Long Livery Hall and Mary Ann’s boyfriend. Polly Vance is Long Livery lady’s maid and a good friend of Mary Ann’s.
Mary Ann is a likeable person, always trying to do the right thing and standing up for those she loves. Colum is also a compassionate person with the way he cares for his Aunt Maud. It’s easy to see that Mary Ann and Colum should belong together. Or should they not? Both Mary Ann and Colum appear to be distracted by another person and they both begin to explore separately and together.
What I have been noticing so far in reading the Erotic Tales of Long Livery Hall books is the fact that they don’t take forever to get to the “good” parts. In fact, the very first sentence of the book and first scene is very erotic. The “good” parts are also liberally sprinkled throughout the book.
With each book that I read, I am thoroughly enjoying Ms. Knightly’s writing. For those who are entertaining reading this book without reading Book 1 first, it is entirely possible to read each of these books as standalone books. Characters from the previous book appear, but readers would not be lost since each book has its own stories which do not depend on knowing the stories of the other book. So whether or not you have read Book 1 of the Erotic Tales of Long Livery Hall, I highly recommend reading Scandal, Book 2 of the Erotic Tales of Long Livery Hall for a very erotic, exciting, and entertaining saga about the lives of some very interesting characters who live and work at Long Livery Hall in old England. Zara did not realize the inner strength she had until Charlie introduced her to a life of corsets and power. The type of power that all of us women possess, but many never seem to tap into. This power is something I still cannot truly understand, so it made me root for Zara immediately. This new found womanhood and control is what she needs to in turn be able to help Charlie get past his emotional blockage–if she ever can. Or she may have to use her knew founded power to find a man who can fully appreciate the woman she was and the one she has become.
Charlie was a man who intrigued me immediately because of his emotional restraint as well as his chivalrous nature. He is always so diplomatic even when others seem to lose their cool. It made me want to understand the man behind the masks and find out what made him tick other than seeing a woman in a corset, of course. I have to say that the deeper I dove into the story and the characters the more I wanted to know. Even at the end of the story I felt as if I could continue to learn so much more about the guarded man who has achieved so much in his life.
The storyline was sometimes playful and others deadly serious. This rollercoaster of events and emotions can pique the interest of any reader. Additionally, while this was a modern day setting I had a bit of a vintage feeling to me as well. Maybe it was Zara’s fascination with vintage clothing, or Charles’ need to maintain his family’s historical views, but I could have easily have seen this story set in 1812 and easily as current day. This ability to bridge timelines really made the story even more entertaining. While many other stories I feel almost anyone can enjoy this story is truly one of those stories that everyone will find endearing and I would truly say if you enjoy romance novels you will definitely enjoy this story.(less)
Yolanda was certainly stripped bare in this story physically, mentally, and emotionally. Yolanda isn’t the only one whos layers are removed in this story. Lawrence, while usually the one remove layers, quickly realizes that Yolanda may be the only person that can strip him while he is doing the same to her.
One part of the story that I found enjoyable was the sexual activity. Lawrence is really helping Yolanda to understand more about herself through sexuality. I think this helps the character in more ways than just how to have a great orgasm. It teaches her how to relieve stress and understand more about her body and mental state. This teaching or self discovery does involve some interesting scenes including a sexual awakening at a club while watching an ménage. The scene does involve anal play, but is done in a tasteful way which leaves everyone including the main character satisfied.
The conflict in this story added an extra element of excitement and entertainment. It added a sympathy element regarding Yolanda as well as allowed Lawrence to be the knight and shinning armor Yolanda needed. It also allowed the author to introduce some interesting sub-characters such as Jim Yolanda’s IT guy and Mick, someone Lawrence thought he left in his past.
This story ignited a love for erotic stories that I thought I had lost, and will always have a spot in my heart for that fact alone. So if you are someone looking to get introduced to little BDSM or has had a long appreciate for it you will enjoy reading this story.(less)
Nick was forced into a life that many would cringe at, including myself. Yet, he somehow made it out of that life and just wants to live the life of a quiet professor just like he deserves. However, his past catches up with him and threatens to destroy everything he has created over the years.
I had been previously introduced to Nick in another story about his brother, so I knew a bit of what I was getting into. Nick reminds me of a tiger waiting to pounce. He seems beautiful and majestic from a distance, but get too close and you will get scratched. Lucky for Gen he pounces on her, but in all the right ways. He introduced her to a lifestyle that many of us read about and what to know more of. Nick is a character that was elusive enough that I wanted to know more even at the end of the story. I would love to read a story about his and his brother’s childhood so I can better understand the man he has become.
Gen was a surprising character to me. At first I expected her to be some type of secret spy, detective or even a hired hit woman. There was something about her that just screamed “I am more than what meets the eyes”. What I had not expected was for her to live such a mild mannered lifestyle. She just seemed like she needed adventure and excitement on a regular basis. Which was further confirmed when she and Nick got together, because their time spent together is anything but calm and mild.
The plotline within this story had a lot of complex turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. Whether it was the characters’ budding relationship with one another, their relationships with friends and family, or the threat of being discovered at any minute, there was never a dull moment. I know that this pair will have a long and exciting life together, and I hope I get to see them again in future stories.(less)
