Big, generous-hearted Benny and the elfin Eve Malone have been best friends growing up in sleepy Knockglen. Their one thought is to get to Dublin, to university and to freedom...
On their first day at University College, Dublin, the inseparable pair are thrown together with fellow students Nan Mahon, beautiful but selfish, and handsome Jack Foley. But trouble is brewing for Benny and Eve's new circle of friends, and before long, they find passion, tragedy - and the independence they yearned for
I absolutely loved this story, and while it was riddled with characters, too many to count, I managed to develop a kinship of sorts with each of their stories and who they were, where they came from and why. Like all of Maeve's writings I was sucked in from the start, with this 10 year old girl, and went to college with her and her friends, and cried when she cried, loved when she loved, and felt stern when she felt stern. Mostly, my heart swelled with pride as I watched her page by page grow from a little girl, to a young lady, to at last, a woman.

There were clues and innuendos that kept the emotions coming and going. The part about Dog made me smile; and Mathias and Mels was gut wrenching... And I am worried about what Jim is up to with Devina ... And Sissy Barten. The foreshadowing of XOps and Jim being marked orange was a good hint at another book, and the exposure of XOps was a good "way out" in case JR Ward wanted to wrap the series. I recommend this book and this series to fans of the Black Dagger Brotherhood and action/suspense novels. (less)

So beautifully detailed, and written in a perspective that makes me want to strangle Her... Hug him... cringe in horror... cry with devastating emotion. . . So many ways that this brings forth evocative emotions, making me think and feel in ways other books have not.
There were so many things I expected to hate from this series, instead, it won me over heart and soul.(less)

The things I don't like can be overlooked by my gratitude for a story I love so much; and characters I will never forget. Thank you.
-- I didn't like the formatting; it was lazy in my opinion and not thought through. On page 5 I commented saying, "Page 5 and her lack of skill is already offensive. Clearly she could care less." I trudged on this bittersweet journey because I love Sookie. And Eric. And many others... and the offensive writing continued. On page 135 I commented, "Sookie this is not you! You don't speak or think this way! Charlaine Harris I hate you! :(" Now of course I don't hate her but disillusioned would be ever so polite of me to say, when in reality I was FURIOUS and couldn't believe how she just threw caution to the wind and abandoned all emotions and left us readers and devotee behind.
Yes. I was abandoned by Charlaine Harris. I was found, and left wanting.
The "meanwhile" ... "earlier" ... "elsewhere" ... and "Sookie's house" half page interruptions, because of an inability to segue from one spot in the story to the other was so lazy it literally made me angry that she wouldn't take the time to do the LAST BOOK justice. But what can be done?
The characters, will stay with me forever. I will always have my seat at Fangtasia, strategically placed to see the dancers, and the door... and a seat at Merlotte's, opposite Jane Bodehouse... to avoid the obvious pitfalls of sitting beside her.
These, and all the memories, will live with me always, in the storyline of my mind as well as the coveted space on my bookshelves. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a wrap. (less)

I've seen so many people, write about Paganism, and try and write it the Olde way, or the new and call it Wicca - neither is right nor wrong. This collection is beautifully written, and mixes the old with the new. It touches on a way of life older than Wicca itself (What is it labeled, 1954?) True practitioners will tell you, (and those who believe in the premise of what Wicca is) is that it is the Olde Religion. The old ways, things older than time. Wicca as a title is a lovely thing, as a belief is lovely too - and I in no way dismiss it. I think however, the things written in these great many pages span things older than we fully comprehend, as well as that which is well understood by those initiated and uninitiated alike. Along with a healthy dose of pure fiction.
Wiccans and non Wiccans alike read and review this series.

The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.
Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.
Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.
Initial book ending reaction: Worst ending ever. I am bawling like... Ugh I have no words. Official review to come when I don't want to throttle a fictional character.
24 hours Later: Oh, my. I am left breathless, and biting my lip, visualizing that tie and those smokey, grey eyes with lavish intensity> and I am pleasantly surprised by this series. I have never been a fan of erotic fiction. Recently, the last 4 or 5 years, I have opened my mind and broadened my horizons, and I have found joy in some of the more colorful series out there. This is one of them.
With a breathtaking musical score, and vivid descriptions of the characters and the attention to detail ~ I was able to see what Anastasia saw, and feel what Anastasia felt. I was left breathless, with this roller coaster ride, with an emotional ending I was not prepared for. Yes, it is very sexually oriented, and the emotions run deep, and the psychology being tackled in the back ground, is intense. It is worth every bit of evocative emotion and thought that it is given. The negative reviews that this series received motivated me to read it, since, I starkly disagree with general population on most things. I have to say, thank you, to every close minded individual who gave the book negative press, because without you and the urgings of my best friend, Evie, I may not have ever cracked the covers on 50 shades of Grey.... Which is indeed... 50 shades of Grey. Take my word for it, and give it a read, and see what I mean... Fifty shades. I am 128 pages into book 2, 24 hours later. It is difficult to put down, wondering what is going to happen next?

"Dagger Brotherhood series continues as a vampire warrior crosses the line between life and death…into a world of dark dreams and darker desires.
Ever since the death of his shellan, Tohrment has been a heartbroken shadow of the vampire leader he once was. Brought back to the Brotherhood by a self-serving fallen angel, he fights again with ruthless vengeance, unprepared for a new tragedy. Seeing his beloved in dreams—trapped in a cold, isolated netherworld—Tohr turns to the angel Lassiter to save his former mate. The only way to rescue her is for Tohr to love another. As war with the lessers rages, and a new clan of vampires vie for the Blind King’s throne, Tohr struggles between an unforgettable past and a hot, passion-filled future. But can his heart let go and set all of them free?"
Lover Reborn follows the life of Tohrment, after the death of his Shellan, Wellsie. It has been more than a year since she and their unborn son were murdered, and he learns that she in fact has not moved into the Fade as he believed, and is stuck in the In-Between. Lassiter, angel who has fallen from grace with the maker has been tasked with getting Tohr back on track, but doesn't tell Tohr right away the condition Wellsie is in.
It also tracks a little bit of the marriage of John and Xhex, and her Mahmen, No'One. No'One is a rape survivor, that Xhex was a product of. Upon birthing her babe, many years ago, she had taken Tohrment's daggers and slain herself. She too did not go into the Fade, nor did she go into Dhunhd. She was sent back, and never knew why.
Full circle, back to Tohrment who saved her, and then couldn't save her from her own hand. She has spent years punishing herself, being the victim, until months after she has fallen head over heels in love with Tohr, and the evening after her needing period ended... and he came in screaming honesty at her that she just wasn't ready to hear.
Turns out, everyone is in their own sort of In-Between in this book. I was actually surprised at the depth of emotion in some places. Each of the brothers has their issues, but dealing with the death of a spouse AND recovering your life and learning to let go and love again - Well Done, Ward, Well Done. I like how it was laid out and explained, and we got to see inside the heads of No'One, Tohrment, Lassiter, Xhex, John, and even Xcor. I found it to be very interesting.
There were so many... moments in this book, like the first time there was any sort of intimacy between Tohr and No'One and the words & kindness he had for her; genuine understanding... I loved the way it was done. Ward always writes these as a roller coaster of emotion, but sometimes the sex can overwhelm the story, not this time. It is a perfect balance amongst all. You can see yourself inside the mansion, see Fritz walking down the hall, listen to Lassiter yell at Maury, and feel the winds of change blowing with Xcor and his Band of Bastards. Then, you are at Wellsie's fade ceremony, and listening to Phury recite these beautiful words, and you feel yourself openly weeping with the brothers and their Shellans. You feel them share in his pain when they slice their arms, to drip into the pitcher. You feel your heart shatter into countless pieces, when Tohrment is branded, and screams her name, and you may even have to put the book down when John is branded twice, for the loss of his adopted Mahmen and the brother he never knew - and the screams, from Tohrment, on behalf of his mute adopted son - that lasted longer than his own. The emotion is so real and so raw, that you can't possibly not be sucked into it, every last syllable.
I was thrilled in the last few pages of the book, when Qhuinn FINALLY made eye contact with Blay, and didn't look away, and let all the emotions play across his face... It's about time. Seriously. And worthy of more than honorable mention is Lassiter, in his redemption on No'One - for all the right reasons, and his decision to go back to earth where he could do more good (and watch Maury...) ...and once again, full circle, brings Big Macs.
5 stars, and I can't wait for the next installment.(less)

When she suffers a paralyzing injury, human surgeon Dr. Manuel Manello is called in to treat her as only he can- and he soon gets sucked into her dangerous, secret world. Although he never before believed in things that go bump in the night- like vampires- he finds himself more than willing to be seduced by the powerful female who marks both his body and his soul.
As the two find so much more than an erotic connection, the human and vampire worlds collide … just as a centuries old score catches up with Payne and puts both her love and her life in deadly jeopardy.
