Especially for a book that is aimed for younger readers. I really enjoy reading books like this because it reminds me of the innocents I used to have when I was young and maybe even the idiocity as well. I loved the characters in this book and how easily they flowed together. I also loved that you never quite knew what was going to happen in the ending and you didn't figure it out until you got to the last chapter. Which is something I look forward to because I hate being able to guess the ending of a book. However, sometimes being able to guess the ending of a book always has it's perks to. But you don't want to be able to guess them with this type of a book. I think that is why I gave it 5 stars, because even though this is based for younger readers, I am 24 and couldn't figure out the ending. That could just be me, lol, but I enjoyed it just as much.
Good read! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! ...more

I was skeptical at first though because I bought it for $3.97 at Wal-Mart, but it turned out to be a really good book. It was a little confusing at first, but then it got better. I loved the characters and in a strange way thought I could relate to all of them. Even though I am way past a high school love relationship, I felt as though I could relate to alot of what the characters were going through in my adult relationship. I also loved what the story was about and how it got it's points about love and relationships across to the reader. I also loved that before every chapter the author put a little insightful advice on relationships and it also connected into what that chapter was about. I honestly think that was my favorite part of this book.
I also have to say that this is the third book to a series and I didn't know that until I looked this book up to put it on here lol. So I read the third book first. I am debating weather I want to read the first 2 now. I think they would be good to read but then again I think they would be hard to top these ones. However, seeing how I did the same thing with Twilight lol, I think I might give them a chance. This also proves my point that authors should put the number somewhere after the title if it isn't the first one or on the side of the bind of the book or something. It just confuses readers and makes them mad when they finish the book and realize that it isn't the first one and that it is even a series all together. I have also started looking for this sort of thing after the Twilight confusion that I did, but with this book it didn't indicate that there were any other books by this author at all, most books have that in the first 2 pages. And it also did not have this at the end of the book either. So, that was the only downfall I had with this book, but it wasn't really the book or story its self that had the problem.
All in all this was a great book and I really enjoyed reading it. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a romantic ghost story. This book is also good for anyone of all ages to read. It doesn't have graphic content in it or written verbal sexual parts.

I really think that the Cast girls need to work on making a series for every character like this and how their time was before they were chosen and what happened up until the point that Zoey's story begins. It would be neat to read and know what happened to each character before they came and were changed. So, it might end up being a 1,000 page book, but I would read everyone of them. I love the tale of the life and love each one of the character's has been through before Zoey came to the house of night. I would love to read and know more about each one of them individually, like the novella's let you have.
I thought the story of Lenobia was amazing and I wish it would have continued. However, I do realzie that you probably only need so much for it to continue in the series that is Zoey's story. But I would still love it all the same. I thought her story was very interesting and it touched my heart. I could feel so much pain, sorrow, fear, and love in this novella. I truly enjoyed it and I can't wait to find out more about her and what happened after she went to the house of night as a fledgling.
All in all I loved this novella, and hope you do too. Hope there is more to come as well.

It connected with me in a way that I didn't think was possible. I know that most of the Nora Roberts books that I read do connect with me in an amazing way, but this book I wasn't really expecting to connect with me that much because I don't really read a whole lot of law enforcement based books. In this book Renee is a police officer but a arson investigator too. I loved how I really felt connected to this character. Mainly because we had a lot of things in common and I really enjoyed that. She came from a big family and where family was the most important thing. I also come from a big family and they are also the most imortant thing. I also felt myself thinking that I would have the same reaction that Renee had in the situations that she was put in and I felt myself alot in her character. I also loved the fact that many of her family members and the other characters were similar to everyday people that you meet and are very similar to my family as well. I also loved the thriller part of this story and it was very exciting. Nora Roberts definately knows how to write a thriller. I have read a few of her books and I have not been disapointed yet. The only thing that I think I didn't like about this story is that the mystery and the thriller part was a little predictable. However, only one part of the story was predicatable from the beginning, but it was still exciting to see if you were right and to keep reading to see how Renee would react once she found out. So, that is why I still gave it 5 stars, because even though you could kind of predict some things, it was still fun to find out how it would play out with the characters.
All in all this was a great book! I highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys a heart-felt mystery thriller, and Nora Roberts fans, you won't be disapointed. Also there isn't too much adult content in it, so I think that it would be ok for kids the age of 14 and up to read it.

Stine books are really good and a fun read. However, this one was all of those things, but it fell a little short for me. I loved the characters and the story line. They were perfect for this kind of story line and the story line it's self was a good old fashion scare. The part that fell short for me that it started to become a little rediculous when the second victim died. Then it started to get good again. It got good again when the story picked up and explained where the evil came from and why. That was very clever I thought because I would have never guessed it in a million years. Then it kept its pace and continued to be good. Then the ending was a little weird for me. I think it was because it was there was and ending and then it changed and then it changed again. I do have to say that the ending was good, but it was just a little weird for me.
All in all this is a great book from R.L. Stine and it will keep some kids awake at night. However, I would recommend to parents not to let children under the age of 12 or 13 read this book because of the graphic content describing deaths. But that solely depends on your child and what you ok for them to be exposed to. Good read and I recommend this to all R.L. Stine lovers! ...more

I liked how the author actually wrote the book; as in his writting style. I loved the way he breifly described things in a short span, in which you actually understood what he was explaining and it was easy to follow. There was alot that I learned in this book and some things that I learned more about that I vagely knew. Or thought I knew. I found this book very entertaining because I like to learn about things like this. For the historical aspect of it as well as medical aspect. Seeing how I went to college for medical laboratory I found the medical aspect very interesting. In which the difficult processes that scientist and doctors had to endure to find out the causes, and have funding to conduct experiments. I think it is amazing how when smallpox was spreading viciously and killing thousands, doctors often risked their lives and reputations in order to save lives. Not only was it dangerous to knowingly expose yourself to the deadly disease, but it was also dangerous for reputation because alot of people thought the experiments that they were conducting were going against their religions. I can't imagine living in that life time where everyone feared people and being exposed because it was a very fast spreading disease and many died before doctors or priests were allowed to inoculate people. There were alot of experiments that many leaders needed to be conducted on poor families and children before many countries and cities would even consider their towns and cities to be inoculated. There were many times that people died for no reason just because they didn't want to believe the inoculation procedures worked and were skeptical about them. I just found the whole process of how everything was done and how hard it would have been to live in that time where disease and medical education were at their peek very interesting, but disturbing also. I find it sad that many families were not even barried when they died from these diseases because of how affriad everyone was on getting the sickness themselves.
I could write forever about this book. However, all in all this was an amazing book and I found it to be very educational and loved every second of it. Unlike most educational books, this one was very interesting, easy to follow, and fun to learn about. I would definatly recommend this book to history lovers and medical lovers. I will think of the things I learned in this book for some time to come and will probably read it again. All in all this was an amazing book and I highly recommend it to all who love a good chunk of history explained fast and in an interesting way. ...more

However, at first I was kind of mad because it reminded me alot of the Hungar Games. But once I really started reading it I realized that it was nothing like the Hungar Games at all. I was very suprised by this book. Everyone said it was amazing and wanted me to read it, so I figured what the heck I will give it a shot. It was about living in a world where everything was based on a belief system, and the belief system chose how you lived yourlife and what you were meant to do. However, after the age of 16 you get to chose what kind of life style that you want to choose, but it has to be for life and there is no turning back. I loved the characters in this story because I could connect with them really well and felt like I knew them in some strange way already. I also loved the fact that I truely believed that this story could actually happen in real life some day. I think the reason why I loved this story so much is because it seemed real. Not braging, but if you look at my previous record of reading books it takes me a long time, mainly because of how interested I am in the book mixed with the time I have to read also, but it only took my 4 days to read this book; which is saying alot for me.
All in all this was an amazin book, and I wouldn't let how popular it is deter you from reading this amazing story. Goog read! I recommend this book to anyone that loves a good old fashion adventure story mixed with mystery and survival!

Even though I finished it in two hours. It was still a very good book and somewhat edjucational. I liked that it really did seem real and at times made you think if things of that nature are actually possible. However, I really don't honestly know if this book is actually a real non-fiction book or not because I didn't do any research on it. If it is true I could almost believe it because most of the stories that were aclaimed to be true happened in the 1800's and early 1900's. Either way it was very intertaining and I think this would be a great book for youngsters to read, and would also be great for slumber party stories! I wish I would have had a book of this nature to read and scare my friends sensless during many of my slumber parties.
All in all this was a great book and I would recommend it to anyone that wants to be entertained for a while. It will make you think. Hopefully one day I actually take the time to find out weather the stories aclaimed to be true in this book really are or not?????

I loved every second of reading it and there wasn't a dull moment at all. Compared to the movie, the ending was different, but I liked it. I almost liked this ending better than the one the movie gave. However, that is books for you, they are usually better than the movie, but SK movies are almost always dead on with the book, it just normally depends on the characters they pick and how good of an actor they are.
What I loved most about this book however, is that it was so close to things that you would actually think of and dread. I had many nightmares related to reading this book, and I honstly have to say that that is a quality that I look for in a good horror thriller. I don't really enjoy having the nightmares, but I do believe that if a book can make you have nightmares, then it is definately worth reading and it gets into your subconcious mind. It is almost like it affects you in some way. That is how all SK books are though in my opinion. The only one that I really didn't care for was Hearts in Atlantis, but if you read my review you will see why. I loved all the characters in this book, the connections I had with them, and how I felt i have met these characters sometime in my life. Either through my own experiences or through someone elses. I also enjoyed how while there was alot of horror, there was also alot of love, and made you feel exactly what the characters were feeling and made you relate to how and why they would feel that way. That is one thing I love the most about SK's writting, is that he reaches you in a whole new level with characters, and a new thinking process. Loved it.
All in all this was an amazing book and I recommend it to all SK lovers. However, if you are a SK fan you will eventually read this one, lol. But, if you have never read SK, I highly recommend you to read this book if you like a good thriller that will keep you awake on most nights. ...more

I read the Notebook, which is my favorite romance movie of all time, however, I really didn't care for the book that much. Then I read The Lucky One, which I actually loved and thought was amazing. However, with this story I didn't care for it much either, I just felt like the love and romance angle was a little dry for some reason. I think it almost seemed that it was because it felt rushed. Also I have begun to notice that his endings are very similar. Someone always has to die. Which I understand that that could be an climax or make the story what it is by just with the ending and who died. However, with this book I gave it 3 stars because I didn't like the fact that Singer the dog died. I get why he kind of had to make him die with the way he described Jim's letter to Julie one last time. However, I think it could have still worked out and be more heartfelt if he would have let Singer live. That ending really made me mad and almost made me cry. I don't really like crying to books personally and I am such a huge animal lover. Being a huge animal lover I think that is the main reason I didn't like this story, because I hate when I read a book and an animal gets hurt or die's after they do something heroic.
All in all this was a really good book, but I gave it 3 stars because I don't believe that it was one of his best works and I didn't like the ending. I would recommened this book to Sparks lovers, but I would brace yourself because I don't know if you will like this spacific novel. ...more
