I was very disappointed in this book of the series. I think the characters, Alexandra Cooper and Mike Chapman, are some of my favorites of all the series I read. However, Fairstein returns her setting to the art world as she did in book 3 of the series. I have very little knowledge or interest in the art world and this was heavy on explanation, light on character and plot development.(less)

I remember watching this movie awhile ago and sobbing like a baby. Maybe because I knew the ending, the book didn't have the same impact. It was enjoyable although I couldn't get Bette Midler out of my head the entire time I was reading. Looking back at the movie synopsis, I see many character names and details are different. Interesting.(less)

I don't think I have ever tried to read a story with such an unlikeable main character. Claire is a rude and obnoxious know-it-all. I could barely tolerate the plot because I couldn't get past my annoyance with her. It didn't matter though, because the end result was so unexpected (and not in a good way). At the very least, there should have been SOME clues that would make the ending plausible. But, no. Ugh. I have a few more of this series on my shelf, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get through them.(less)

The concept of this story was interesting and unique. It seemed a bit predictable, but I like that it didn't go for the obvious ending. I got really wrapped up in the characters and the family dynamics of both Bree and Tom. Even though I guessed pretty early on how it would end, it still took me on the emotional journey!(less)

I really liked the concept of this book. However, only seeing the story from the perspective of one day a year made it difficult to connect to the characters. I especially never really developed a fondness for Dexter. I thought Emma could do better. But I am glad I saw this through to the end. (less)

This was a tough one to get through. While I love Patricia Cornwell, this series is just not good. It's hard to like characters, the plot is disjointed and strange, and there's no one I wanted to root for. I'm done with this series. I'll stick to Scarpetta.(less)

I don't know what to say about this book except the plot was extremely disjointed. The characters were mostly unlikeable and the storylines made no sense. The main crime was forgotten for great lengths of time, and the point of view changed so suddenly. It made for a very confusing read. I think I'll stick to the Scarpetta series.(less)
