I could not stand this book. Which is unfortunate, because I was immediately pulled in by the synopsis. But when actually reading UtNS, I couldn't stomach it. The story did not live up to expectations, and was just awful.
I couldn't connect to Aria much at all. She felt like a typical YA character, which lost me instantly. Perry wasn't much better, also a stereotypical YA male character. No one else was memorable.
I hated the world building and writing style. Both were like paper and just not good. X_X...more

I couldn't get into the characters, and the writing was atrocious. I didn't feel like the POVs matched the characters' ages. I understand that some of them have been in the spotlight for a long time and have had to grow up, but this was just ridiculous. The only character I liked was Emma, and even she got on my nerves a lot.
Plus, I was honestly uncomfortable with how free Ms. Webber was about the "sex, drugs, rock and roll" lifestyle celebrities lead. I just didn't like reading about it....more

Preface: If this sounds bitter, I apologize. Moving on. I got a free sample of this a while back when I first got my Nook, and I didn't really like it. Then I saw it was $2.99 as a NookBook, and I couldn't pass that up. Then I started reading it for this list, and realized all over again that I did not like this book.
It takes the right author and right form to make me like third person omniscient POV. This was not such a book. I hated reading about these characters, who seemed a bit cardboard and one dimensional. X_X *Shakes head* I should have known better. Oh well, onto the next book :)...more
Oh man, I wanted to like this book so badly. When I first heard about Shrinking Violet, the premise really drew me in. I couldn't wait to start reading. And then it all went downhill. I didn't like the way the story went, and how cartoonish certain characters were. Plus I feel like we were in Teresa's head waaay to much.
Speaking of Teresa, I didn't really like her. It's not that she was too shy, I just didn't like her as a character/person. She could be kind of mean, and too self-isolating, despite her extreme shyness. She just didn't click at all with me, and I wish she was written better, because she didn't feel realistic. Her mother also felt unrealistic. She was so over the top and cartoonish, I wanted to scream out in frustration (mind you I was reading this late at night, so that would have been an issue xD). None of the characters felt real to me, and none were relatable in any single way.
I felt like Ms. Joseph's style was not good. It did not mesh with me and barely hooked me into anything....more
This was such a damn disappointment after BD. The first book was so damn good, and this was well, not. I literally could not find a single reason to finish it and see what came next. Honestly, the plot became just so generic, uninteresting and just not good.
Frankly, Harper became a bland character in this one. She didn't do much til the end, had serious brain farts, and just wasn't likable. None of the other characters felt real, or likable themselves. And the third member of the triangle, Jackson, had his own personality squandered.
Damn, what happened Ms. Cannon? BD was a genius and brilliant novel, and then this? I'm sorry, but you have so much in you, and I just can't fathom why you wrote Inner Demons this way. I'm sorry, but I can't continue this series. *Hangs head in silence*...more
I just literally could not finish this book. I do find it ironic though that in the book, it says "For fans of Gail Carriger and (I forget the other author's name xD)" I just read Soulless before I started this book, and for the life of me I could not find any similarities at all. I could not get into this story. I didn't understand anything that was going on, and was just skipping pages whilst confused.
Claire was not a good heroine. I was unable to connect with her as a character, and could not follow her in the story.
Ugh. It's not because this is too much of a "boy book." That's bullshit. I just didn't like the writing. The writing IMO is terrible. There was TOO MUUgh. This book was just not good. I tried, I really did. I promise I did. Sadly, this book and I were just not meant to be. I did not like the characters at all. Especially Ever. I thought she was a caricature, poorly written. The same goes for the other characters. The story all around just bugged me....more
