In this case, a hardened ex-marine and the "princess" of the town.
I actually read this book first even though it #2 in the series but it just made me want more! Colt is one character that has climbed my favorite hero's list to be next to some of JR Ward, Sylvia Day and Kresley Cole's alpha male characters.
And Yes Colt is TOTALLY an Alpha male and his heroine Beth Ann is the perfect person he needs to bring a little warmth to is cold personality. This is an Adult read so there are many of hot scenes but and very well balanced with emotional scenes that allow the characters to grow and mature. I hope there are more books in the Bluebonnet world in the works because I have become a Major Jessica Clare Fan!! :D...more

It wa**4.5 Stars** I have been on the fence about reading this book. When I read the blurb it sounded something like Disney's version of The Bachelor..
It was an addicting tale! Although many may say that is a combination of The Hunger Games meets Divergent meets The Bachelor.. The characters themselves bring the story to life. Not only becoming addicted to the the main story but also the minor character competing!
LOVED: The Heroine- America is of course one of the lower caste (class). I really liked her character, she is very down to earth and is always thinking of others before herself. She is thrust into this new world and manages to remain honest and fair as she begins to realize that the competition she came into believing it was ridiculous and a financial help, has become a much more personal one.
Maxon, Maxon, MAXON! or better known as His Majesty, The Prince. I was expecting a cocky, maybe dark, cold prince that our heroine worms her way into his heart. Instead he is a genuine, honest and caring. There is a love triangle, but Aspen (the other guy) claims to love America but to me seemed self-absorbed, fake an seemed to have a hidden agenda. Not really caring about America's feelings while Maxon is bluntly honest from the very beginning.
I really enjoyed the events pertaining to the The Selection process and the world building.
Not So Much:
The writing was easy to read but I felt if there was just a little more descriptive details on how America felt certain times, I could have been more emotionally connected to the character. I love when I'm reading a book and actually feel what the character is feeling. Here it was mostly just stated.
Overall, really great read!! We are left with many loose ends and mysteries that I really want to know!! The author decides of tease us with an evil cliffy leaving you wanting more!! ...more

I mean who doesn't like forbidden love, mafia crime, coming of age story... Well when I first saw the length I became a little intimidated but I continued on. I will say it was a good read but there was so much going on, at times I felt I was reading a three books in one.
LOVED: The Hero- Carmine was a great character. The author did a great job of connecting with the reader. I loved how he grew as a character as he had to deal not only with his fears but with life decisions.
Concept- I loved the concept had of creating a modern day version of Romeo & Juliet/The Godfather. It was very interesting and I liked how it was written.
Not So Much:
I guess I would call it story structure & execution. I kinda felt overwhelmed with all the information the author was giving me. I would get really into Carmine/Haven's story then we would switch to another. By the end I had to rally myself to finish because the plot progressed to slow for me. The ending was more of Happily-For-Now.
Overall, I did enjoy it. It was entertaining and I have a feeling there will be sequel to Sempre. :) ...more

**5 Stars!!** 1st line in book--> Regan Matthews was going to die.

I have to say that I wasn't really excited about starting Lethal Rider, well I was but not because of our main Hero Thanatos. It was because It brought us closer to Reseph's book and I hoped to see past characters. I LOVED Eternal Rider! Ares's story blew my away, I loved every minute of it. I couldn't wait for Limos's book! I mean she is Satan's bride, the only Horsewoman, so girl power and all that jazz!!! When I finished Immortal Rider I was a little let down. It was good but I wasn't in love with it like Eternal Rider. So I didn't have that high expectations for Than's book because: One- Throughout the previous books, the bits that Than appeared didn't really interest me. He was always closed off, serious.. not much to expect. Two- At the end of Immortal Rider, his storyline seemed kinda predictable.
So I started reading Lethal Rider in hopes that I would at least enjoy the book with all the other storylines going on and.......OMG!!!!! I could not get enough of Thanatos!!!After finishing the book in less than a day I take back everything I said about Than not being interesting!! I still love Ares but I LOVE Than more! His story starts right where we are left off. He is awakening from his paralyzed state, escapes and goes after Regan for revenge. When SURPRISE!!! You're going to be a father!!! From there, there are so many twists and complications that arise from not just the apocalypse, but Than's past. There are also so side stories of Reaver, Harvester, Kynan, the Seminus brothers and of course the other Horsmen. At times I was so into Than, that I just wanted to rush through all the other side stories. LOL
Thanatos and Regan are great together. They each have their own demons that they live with. Than has a major secret he has kept since he was cursed. Because of his explosive rages that kill everything in the vicinity, Than has convinced himself that he will always be alone . His one dream, if he were a different man, would be to be able to have a wife and family. Regan has also always been alone. She is the child of a human mother and a demon possessed father. Which is how she received her deadly powers. Regan's power kills those she touches if she loses control. So much like Than, she has always been alone. Taking on as many tasks for the Guardians so she can feel needed in some way. These two people are then going to have a baby and it the journey they take together that I thought was a refreshing and emotional ride. I loved every minute!
Overall It was a can't-put-it-down story. You can't help but think about it, even when you HAVE to put it down! Thanatos is my favorite Horseman now, I love him. I'm sooo happy for that unexpected surprise. I will be rereading over and over again until we get Rogue Rider!!...more

I have to say I am happy I stuck with the series. The last three have been ok but this one I really liked! Xairn is a great character he knows he loves Lauren but the conflict he has is with loving himself first. That means accepting that he wont hurt Lauren when they are together bonding. Ok so for the past books in this series, the heroines (for me) have all been whiny, and resistant to the point of death. Now I know we would all be mad if we were chosen to get married but I would think that they would know how honorable and ..um.. HOT these men are and know something about their culture and give them the benefit of the doubt?? .. Well.. Kat is another whiny heroine. Lock and Deep are great but Deep's beliefs are taken to the extreme when all he had to do is talk and ask!! I never thought Deep would actually do what happened, so I was shocked and disappointed. I don't know if all heroines will be like this b/c if they are I'm not going to stick around! I loved Nadia in Bk #2 so here's hoping for a her story!!...more

This is an Erotic Sci-fi Romance! I say this because its not for the faint of heart! I have read some of Mrs. Langais's previous works and know what to expect. When I heard that she was writing a new series about Cyborgs I was immediately interested and excited!!
It was a great story, I liked it a lot. The characters are great, they are well written and defined but I wasn't blown away by they connection the characters had. I mean it was there but this story (to me) felt like there was more importance place on the love scenes than the actual relationship development. I mean I don't mind if there is one or 30 love scenes but I want the feel the connection of the characters whether they are going through good or bad circumstances.
If you have read Laurann Dohner Cyborg series, you will be pleased to find another fun series with the same theme. Eve does a great job of pulling the reader into her Sci-fi world. The loves scenes are HOT!! *fans self* I hope the next one we will get to see a little more romance. I love to read books that make me feel connected to the characters feelings to the point where I'm sucked into it and find myself crying, laughing or any other emotion the characters have. This series has great potential and will be waiting for the next one!

1st line in the book---> Margot Davenport should never have opened the front door.
From the moment you begin to read this story, you are intrigued with the plot. Like a puzzle you are slowly putting the pieces of a big mystery. Author H.D. Thomson does a great job of keeping the reader guessing.
Margot Davenport has known tragedy. Having divorced her husband two years ago, losing her corporate career job and now suffering through the loss of her beloved brother Johnny. Margot is living a nightmare that she hasn't woken up from.
Jake Preston is also trapped in a living nightmare. Only his nightmare has one final end-Death. This is because of an experiment that backfired at a Pharmaceutical company he worked for. His only chance of survival is getting the antidote, which was last known to be in the hands of Johnny Davenport.
Not knowing of Johnny's passing, he shows up at Margot's house telling her he needs to speak to her brother. She tells him of the accident and allows Jake to stay in one of the rooms for him to rent. From there strange thing begin to happen. Margot begins to question the things Jake say, and later learns that truth of what who and what Jake is and how her brother brother's death was no accident.
Shrouded in Darkness is a great Paranormal Suspence novel. I loved Jake! If the hero is a tortured soul, and needs to find redemption. I enjoy it and Jake is just that. I also like the plot. It was fast-paced, thrilling with the romance element thrown into the mystery. There is a great balance of action and dialogue, it doesn't slow down. The only thing that will say is that Margot was a hard character to connect to. She is suffering through everything but for me, to keep referring to that just didn't help me sympathize with her. Instead I just got tired.
Overall I loved the story, plot, and the overall theme that this series will be taking. I am happy I was given a chance to read this novel and will be on the look out for the others in the series....more
1st line in the book---> "The knowledge that Archer would soon end the life of another cut at his soul with every step he took."
WOW!! I was honestly speechless at how great this story was. What first caught my attention to this book was that the author combined my two favorite romance genres! Historical and Paranormal romances! When I was finished I immediately went online and ordered myself a print copy! This is one series that I had to have in my bookshelf, when I only order print copies of Kresley Cole, JR Ward, Lara Adrian to name a few.
This story has mystery, suspence, love and is an overall thrill ride as the author keeps you guessing until the very end. Lord Benjamin Archer is a cursed soul. He covers his whole body so no one can see his disfigured face. The last thing on his mind is love, thinking himself unlovable. Then he meets Miranda Ellis, a fiery woman who makes him believe that there might still be a chance for him at finding happiness. What he doesn't know is that Miranda also has a secret of her own. A deadly one that she has always had. They begin to feel their attraction grow into something more, but then gruesome murders start to arise and they all lead back to one man.... Archer. From there its a giant mystery game...What is behind the mask? What does the killer want? and Why has the killer also targeted Miranda???
Overall I thought it was amazing !! I loved the characters, there is so much depth to them that you begin to connect with the characters on an emotional level. The storyline is fast paced, and there are some very Steamy love scenes between Archer and Miranda. Kristen Callihan did an amazing job of integrating the paranormal into 19th Century London. I can't wait to read Moonglow!! I was left very intrigued about the hero in the next novel and want to know more!! I highly recommend this book, and I have a feeling this is only the beginning for more great things to come from debut author Kristen Callihan!!!!!

1st line in the book---> The boy is a mystery to me.
There is no lie in the title of this book! Darkride keeps you guessing from the moment you read page one. Author Laura Bradley Rede does a great job of keeping you hooked till the very end.
This story is Dark & Intense filled with teenage Angst, Love and value of friendships. There is a major love triangle between Luke the vampire, Ander the werewolf & Cicely the human, but this is no Twilight romance. That's as close as it come when comparing, instead Cicely is mature enough to know what she feels and fights to keep her boys and friends safe from the evil that comes after her.
I really enjoyed the characters!! They each keep surprising you throughout the book. Of course I love both Luke and Ander because they are so different and in their own way win over the reader. I will say that for me the story hooked me in the beginning but it took a while to finally get to the part where the action kicked in. There were times where I would get annoyed with Cicely in the beginning because she would give up real easily, or make assumptions but I had to remember that she's a loner and a teenager...it wasn't until halfway through the book where she becomes the strong heroine and I cheered!! LOL
OMG!!! The side-characters were I think my favorite! They are wonderful and you get to know them and their history. Just when I was getting slightly tired of all the love triangle drama, they brought a breath of fresh air to the plot. I was totally blind sided when there was a shocking revelation near the end of the book!! I really couldn't believe it at first, I don't want to spoil anything so I will just say it left me heartbroken...
Overall I really loved this book! We are left with a climax, hanging on to every last word. I can't wait to see what comes next.
Fave Quote: Yes, I am addicted to the girl. I am finally immortal again but I feel more vulnerable than ever, as if I carry my heart outside my chest. I would die for her, if dying were still an option. But since I cannot give my life, I must live it, and I will not live it anywhere but with her...more
1st line in the book--> “What fresh humiliation does this day bring?”
In Kresely Cole's latest installment in her Immortals After Dark series, we are finally given the story behind one of the most powerful, mysterious and dangerous beings. Just like when Acheron was released, Lothaire the Enemy of Old has finally been revealed! We never quite knew where he came from, what he was up to or who was the female that would be destined for such an evil being.
I will make this a Non-Spolier review since It just released!! I have to say that although it isn't my #1 favorite, it has reached my top three for the series! For anyone who hasn't read the series, I am happy to say that it can be read as a stand alone. The book focuses more on the couple and their struggles rather than all the other events that are happening in the series. KC does a very good job of explaining what is going on for new readers while not making it feel repetitive for fans!
I LOVED IT!!! We have always known so little about Lothaire. Only knowing that he is feared by all. Males either want to destroy him or run from him, while even the Females who despise vampires, can't resist his strikingly good looks. The one thing everyone knows he covets is power. So who could have blooded him? Allowing him to finally recognize his fated female?? Enter Elizabeth Pierce. The last person Lothaire could have imagined would be his Bride... a human. A weak, fragile human... the fates are surely laughing at him, but there is another being that is trapped within Elizabeth. With a plot to seize the Horde crown...a human Bride must be a mistake.
Like I said, I loved how the story pulled away from the events happening in the series and focused more on the couple. The only thing I could say that at times the story would drag, my excitement would slow down, but it would pick up again! I can say its one emotional thrill ride. Just when you might start to get mad at Lothaire, you end up loving him more. Elizabeth is an awesome heroine, and the perfect match for Lothaire. Just as an FYI... Lothaire hasn't bedded a single female in over a millennium. So when he finally finds the Female who brings his body back to life, he takes FULL advantage. There are some hot, Hot, HAWT love scenes that leave you melting!! LOL I can't wait to see who will KC write about next!!! I have my list......more
1st line in the book---> Frigid cold settled into Cassie Reeser's bones.
The first thing that I have to say is that this book is Very HOT!!! I didn'1st line in the book---> Frigid cold settled into Cassie Reeser's bones.
The first thing that I have to say is that this book is Very HOT!!! I didn't have any expectations but I was very happy to have received this book to review! Its more Romantic Suspense with some PNR elements but I enjoyed it very much. I don't usually read Romantic Suspense because I can't really get into it but I was hooked on The Reluctant Protector!
Cassie has had a rough time. She has been experimented on by her brother and he has turned her into a modern day superhero. She discovers she isn't the only one and escapes with the intent to rescue those like her. Then comes Seth Adams, a very sexy reported who's been trying o write a story on Cassie's brother. When the two collide, sparks fly!!
There was good chemistry between the characters. I really enjoyed how the author set up the start of this great series. I was surprised at how short it was though. Its a novella, so it ended too soon for me. Cassie is a very strong but damaged heroine its a good thing she finds Seth because he is able to give her that happiness and trust that was taken from her by her brother.
Again I say this read is an Adult book!! I guess you are wondering how a human reporter can help a genetically enhanced superwoman fight the bad guys....well Seth gets some powers of his own in a very interesting way ;) Thats all I'm going to say!!! You need to read to find out!!!

Spirits. Something that some people believe to have seen and to walk among us. Now imagine that you move in to an old home and see one of a handsome *cough* Sexy..young man who claims that he is your true love from the past. Well that's what Author Dana Michelle Burnett gives her readers in Spiritus.
Becca is just trying to find her place at her new school, when she invites some new friends over to her home and they have a séance in her room for fun. Little do they know that they have caught someone's attention. From the moment Becca meets her ghost Alastor, she feels a connection to him. At first she is doubtful that he is real, but she starts to remember things. Memories from another time. As Becca struggles to separate past from present. She also struggles with the love Alastor claims he has for her and a question... Does he love her or the one from the past??
The characters were great! I think I loved Alastor a little more than Becca, but I just have a thing for sexy, tortured heros! Alastor is protective, loyal, sexy and still completely in love with his Becca after all those years. At times, I got annoyed with him because even though Becca does remember him and their memories together, she isn't the same one! They may look the same but they are two different people. His anger would frighten me. I wanted to say ITS NOT PAST BECCA!!!! LOL but what can you expect from a ghost who at last believes he has been given a 2nd chance with his long lost love?!?
Spritus was great! I loved it!! This is only the beginning and I am waiting for book 2, Haunted, to come out later this year. You can feel the desperate need of the characters to be together while knowing they can't physically touch!! Check it out and find out what happens!
