1st line in the book---> The boy is a mystery to me.
There is no lie in the title of this book! Darkride keeps you guessing from the moment you read page one. Author Laura Bradley Rede does a great job of keeping you hooked till the very end.
This story is Dark & Intense filled with teenage Angst, Love and value of friendships. There is a major love triangle between Luke the vampire, Ander the werewolf & Cicely the human, but this is no Twilight romance. That's as close as it come when comparing, instead Cicely is mature enough to know what she feels and fights to keep her boys and friends safe from the evil that comes after her.
I really enjoyed the characters!! They each keep surprising you throughout the book. Of course I love both Luke and Ander because they are so different and in their own way win over the reader. I will say that for me the story hooked me in the beginning but it took a while to finally get to the part where the action kicked in. There were times where I would get annoyed with Cicely in the beginning because she would give up real easily, or make assumptions but I had to remember that she's a loner and a teenager...it wasn't until halfway through the book where she becomes the strong heroine and I cheered!! LOL
OMG!!! The side-characters were I think my favorite! They are wonderful and you get to know them and their history. Just when I was getting slightly tired of all the love triangle drama, they brought a breath of fresh air to the plot. I was totally blind sided when there was a shocking revelation near the end of the book!! I really couldn't believe it at first, I don't want to spoil anything so I will just say it left me heartbroken...
Overall I really loved this book! We are left with a climax, hanging on to every last word. I can't wait to see what comes next.
Fave Quote: Yes, I am addicted to the girl. I am finally immortal again but I feel more vulnerable than ever, as if I carry my heart outside my chest. I would die for her, if dying were still an option. But since I cannot give my life, I must live it, and I will not live it anywhere but with her(less)
1st line in the book--> “What fresh humiliation does this day bring?”
In Kresely Cole's latest installment in her Immortals After Dark series, we are finally given the story behind one of the most powerful, mysterious and dangerous beings. Just like when Acheron was released, Lothaire the Enemy of Old has finally been revealed! We never quite knew where he came from, what he was up to or who was the female that would be destined for such an evil being.
I will make this a Non-Spolier review since It just released!! I have to say that although it isn't my #1 favorite, it has reached my top three for the series! For anyone who hasn't read the series, I am happy to say that it can be read as a stand alone. The book focuses more on the couple and their struggles rather than all the other events that are happening in the series. KC does a very good job of explaining what is going on for new readers while not making it feel repetitive for fans!
I LOVED IT!!! We have always known so little about Lothaire. Only knowing that he is feared by all. Males either want to destroy him or run from him, while even the Females who despise vampires, can't resist his strikingly good looks. The one thing everyone knows he covets is power. So who could have blooded him? Allowing him to finally recognize his fated female?? Enter Elizabeth Pierce. The last person Lothaire could have imagined would be his Bride... a human. A weak, fragile human... the fates are surely laughing at him, but there is another being that is trapped within Elizabeth. With a plot to seize the Horde crown...a human Bride must be a mistake.
Like I said, I loved how the story pulled away from the events happening in the series and focused more on the couple. The only thing I could say that at times the story would drag, my excitement would slow down, but it would pick up again! I can say its one emotional thrill ride. Just when you might start to get mad at Lothaire, you end up loving him more. Elizabeth is an awesome heroine, and the perfect match for Lothaire. Just as an FYI... Lothaire hasn't bedded a single female in over a millennium. So when he finally finds the Female who brings his body back to life, he takes FULL advantage. There are some hot, Hot, HAWT love scenes that leave you melting!! LOL I can't wait to see who will KC write about next!!! I have my list...(less)

1st line in the book--> “It was blood.”
In SNAP: The World Unfolds , Michelle Drier combines the world of High fashion and Hollywood with the paranormal world. Think Vampires Wears Prada ;). It was interesting to see how the author combined these two worlds.
Maxmillia Gwenoch, aka Maxie, is the new managing editor of SNAP. She has been in the magazine business for years and has finally landed her dream job. SNAP is the name of a conglomeration of print magazine (with editions in five languages), blog, and television publications dedicated to celebrities. Maxie knows she has finally reached the top, and loves the perks that come with it. Beautiful people surround her but she always keeps in mind the advice that her Mother gave her... to never get involved with someone prettier the she.
Enter Jean-Louis, the art director. He's frightfully handsome, and interested in Maxie. From the moment the moment they first meet they click. Both professionally and personally. As she considers to follow her feelings and get closer to Jean-Louis, there are strange thing that keep occurring at SNAP since Maxie first arrived. Later learning of a vampire family feud that she not only a part of but a target.
The storyline was great. I really enjoyed Maxie's character and Jean-Louis is a great partner for her. The novel doesn't pick until almost half-way through the book. Fashonista lovers will love the beginning as there is lots of detail of regarding the inter-workings of Maxies's job and the places she visits. I do think the only flaw with Maxie's character is that she didn't question or become doubtful when she realized vampires existed. I guess having a sexy vampire tell you is hard to deny ;)
Overall I did like this book. I'm interested to see what book 2 will bring. I love Jean-Louis, but who doesn't like sexy vampire men?? Well this one has an artistic eye and can be extremely deadly, of course he is 2nd in command of the family. There are werewolves, demons, & feral pigs that all contribute to an up coming war. I will keep my eyes open for SNAP: New Talent in 2012.
Once inside, Jean-Louis slid the dividing window up and turned to me. “Now you're beginning to see why the Baron wanted me with you and why I told you about us. You've probably noticed that all the SNAP drivers and security staff look a lot alike.” “Look alike? They're clones! Don't tell me that the Baron has perfected some kind of medical procedure?”
He came over and wrapped him arms around me, stroking my head as I lay against his shoulder. “This means war, I’m afraid.” He put a finger under my chin, tipped my head back and looked at me with those deep, ageless, beautiful, hypnotizing eyes. “Are you with us?” I could not leave now. “I am.”(less)

1st line in the book---> He wasn't God.
Caroline Hanson does a brilliant job in taking the vampire myth and putting a twist to it. I had been hearing how her Vamps are not the romanticized version many stories portray them as today. Instead, they are more Anne Rice style. Her vampires are deadly, they are selfish, and eat people because its their nature.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story! Valerie Dearborn is one of the last surviving Empaths in the world. Living in a family of vampire hunters after her mother was a victim of a vampire attack. Her dreams are simple, have a normal life, and maybe get married and start a family with her long time crush Jack. Jack has also suffered great loss at the hands of vampires and his only goal in life is revenge. Valerie's life takes at 180 turn when she meets The Vampire King Lucas and is commanded to do his bidding. From there, Valeria is pulled into a world she has tried so hard to run away from. Escaping death, watching blood baths, and having to resist the deadly but sexy Vampire King leads to a very thrilling climax!
Love is Darkness is Dark, Dangerous and Delightfully Sinful thrill ride that keeps you reading till the very end! Making you want more!!
Fave Quote: Valerie to Lucas..
“If I open this bag will I find a human heart?” Val couldn't believe she'd said that. Was it a joke? “I paid for a croissant. If it is a human heart I shall be quite put out. And you would need to share.”(less)
1st line in the book--> “Crouched on the ground Natalia crept silently through the leaves, her sharp gaze focused on her target.”
Two unlikely people must come together in order to stop a serial killer in Leia Shaw's third novel in her series. Christian the Werewolf and Natalia the Vampire, meet in the most unlikely way, and from there on its a cat and mouse game they play with the killer on the loose.
I really enjoyed this novel. It keeps you on your toes by slowly revealing vital information about the characters. Its a dark adventure with a side of delicious moments. Christian is the perfect partner for Natalia because of his easy going attitude and snarky comments, while Natalia is an old vampire who has forsaken her feelings and only has one goal in mind... revenge & to bring pain to those she hunts and kills. The struggle for Natalia to accept that she can love again plays an important role while she is trying to bring the killer to justice.
There also is a cameo appearance from some of the characters from the previous novels, which I enjoyed because its always great to see where they are after they have their HEA.
If you haven't picked up her novels, I highly recommend this series! I personally can't wait for Maddox's story!! This is another great book that I can reread and satisfy my need for a great chase filled with intrigue and some hot lovin!
A nickname? This was getting far too personal. “Talia? We’re on a nickname basis now. Good to know, dog.”
She snorted but it was too weak to have the effect she intended. “A werewolf just called me beautiful. I must be dreaming. I passed out from the sun, didn’t I? I’m probably dying slowly in the woods.”
“Passion?” she spat. “What is passion but an excuse to act like fools?” In a mocking voice she said, “I’m in love. I can act completely irrational and idio –” She cut off with a gasp when a snowball hit her square in the face. The cold stung her cheek and she growled.(less)

1st line in the book---> “The day Serenity Hathaway came to view as the lowest point in her life, also turned out to be the day everything changed.”
Alone was a very different story from the ones I usually read. I had no idea what to expect. The first thing that came to me was surprise. I never expected that the theme would be about the heroine's struggle with Domestic Violence and how she was able to live through it.
Serenity Hathaway is miserable. She has been married for 10 years and living a nightmare. Everyday she must wonder what mood her husband is in. Hoping that its a good or else it will be hell for her. She gets fired and is too afraid to tell her husband, fearing the worst. As she fleas into the streets she runs into a mysterious man. That little encounter is able to give her the strength to go home but tell her husband about her job at a later time.
Sebastian is a Vampire and has been for over 200 years. He sees a women running through the streets as if the hounds from hell were on her. As he sees her face he can see such desperation and fear, that he feels a connection to her. Knowing what she is going through first hand. As Sebastian continues to meet with Serenity her learns of her living hell. As the story progresses, so does their feelings, but everything takes a turn for the worst when there is a murder and Sebastian's maker comes to town. Serenity must struggle to break her fear in order to survive.
First thing that I have to say that I liked this read. It was a difficult theme but I think the Author did a great job. I will be honest though, I am so used to reading the heroines being such strong characters that I was a little uncomfortable at first. I wanted Serenity to wake up, but like all women in that situation its hard. I don't want to give too many things away but one thing that I prefer is after reading so much pain and suffering that the characters go through, I'm happy to know that they got their HEA. Alone is more of a to be continued. I felt so incomplete but that's just my opinion!! There are some very complex characters, Sebastian is a tortured hero fighting his own demons while trying to come to terms with his feelings. The plot is fast paced, there is a little action and thrill. I am looking forward to Buried, I have my fingers crossed that Serenity and Sebastian get the HEA soon!!!
1st Line in the book---> “Sage emptied the contents of her backpack onto a desk in the basement of the school.”
REVIEW: This book really surprised me!! In an AWESOME way!! I just got it because it had been on my wish list for the longest time and saw it on promotion!! But... WOW!! Have you ever started reading a new book and you just can't put it down!?! Even when I HAD to put it down, it still on my mind!!
Sage Peterson knows only one thing. Survival. After being in foster care system, she knows that the only person she can depend on is herself. She is different, people feared her a child. So when she is faced with going to jail, she is given two choices. Either end up in jail, or take the offer Professor Elias provides her with. Sage being a survivor, decides to take the lesser of two evils. Although all she really wants to do is disappear.
James Elias is a Professor at the college where Sage is working at. He has just dismissed his students when a commotion catches his attention. What he finds is a familiar looking women who is being apprehended by the security guards while the Dean is calling the Police. Raw, powerful magic hits him as he tries to get closer. Instantly he recognizes that she is like him. A sorceress, but untrained. He has rarely felt such powerful magic, so he offers her help. He will provide for her, if she agrees to let him train her.
As the story progresses, secrets are revealed. Someone is hunting Sage and she must face something she has been running from.... her destiny.
I have to say that this book is amazing!! At first I found Sage's attitude to be a little annoying but as you keep reading, your learn more about her character. I began to feel and develop emotional reactions to what happened to the H/H, which creates (for me) a great reading experience. The plot is great. I went in thinking it was going to be a magic only themed book. Boy was I wrong!! There are soo many things that are revealed that I never expected. When I finished, I just had to pick up the next book. I fell so in love with the characters, that I can't wait for the other characters to get their own book and see them find their match!!
Sage is outspoken, brash, but has a vulnerable side she protects. James is cocky, deadly, but caring when it comes to Sage. Together you get a lot of sarcastic humor and they are always butting heads. You can't help but want them to end up together!!! I do have to say that James is hot!! Some of the scenes leave you fanning yourself ;) . Destiny Divided is Book 1 in the Shadows of Destiny series. I Highly recommend this!! You won't be disappointed! :D
NOTE: This book is an Adult Paranormal Romance.

REVIEW: I love the Night Huntress series, but after the last book, I was a little worried that Bones and Cat's relationships was going to continue to be filled with angst and falling apart. I was so relieved to see that in this Book, they were finally happy with on another!!! There are sweet moments between the couple, I just happy they aren't fighting all the time.
One thing that I just have to blast--> Ch. 21 *fans self* Yes! I know many of you know what I referring to!! ;) So Ch.21 is like the infamous Ch. 32 but...I think it might be better!! Ok I said it!! Now back to reviewing~
Ok so major conflict is the villain Apollyon, the leader of the ghouls. He is still trying to start a war between the vampires and the ghouls. He tells Cat that since she is a half-breed, she can still turn ghoul. His plan is to kill her, because if that did happen. She could rule of all supernatural creatures.
One thing that I really loved was how Cat came about making decisions. She always included Bones, and played it smart. She didn't just give into impulse. She has grown up since the first book, and learned from her past mistakes.
Soooo.... why 4/5 stars??? In the last book Marie played such a major part. I was left hoping that in this one more would be explained. Again in this book she has a big role, but i was left feeling that all that potential she has is just waiting for it to be used. IDK so of you won't care... So that would mean that for you guys it would be 5/5!!!!

REVIEW: Ok, so Chosen by Blood was a great intro to what I believe will be an awesome series. I had a few doubts when I first started reading but was pleasantly surprise.
[the following is not spoiler, it is explained in prologue. But if you don't want to know....then skip this part ;)]
We are first introduced to the main characters Felicia Locke and Knox Devereaux. It is in one of the most unexpected ways... Knox is celebrating his 9th wedding anniversary, and he is married to Felicia's best friend. This is why I doubtful on how the author was going to be able to get the reader past it, and make it believable.
[End on non-spoiler..;)]
Felicia Locke is an FBI hostage negotiator. She is strong, independent woman when we meet her. She knows her own morals and wants and sticks to them. No matter how tempted she is to break them, she continues to follow them. Then we have Knox Devereaux. Vamp leader of his coven and a dhampire(half vamp/half human). He is above all loyal to his clan. He is leader since his Mother, the Vamp Queen, is too ill to rule along many members of his clan. The reason being of an anti-vamp vaccine that was given to all humans after the war.
Felicia has very strong feelings for Knox, that he equally returns but she doesn't want to be second best. Although she understands that Knox has a duty to his clan and must marry another vampire for the only purpose of making children. She has a strong will. She won't settle for anything less, which causes some major tension when they are put into the team.
Enter the Para-Ops team!! It consists of a wraith, who has an F-you attitude but has no memories of who she is. A human who is a psychic and sexy ...and knows it ;). A werebeast who has many issues and lastly a Mage. The interesting thing is the mage has a big crush on the human, while he is lusting after the wraith and doesn't notice. What a team indeed!
This was a great debut novel and can't wait for the next. The only reason it didn't receive 5/5 is because I felt that Felicia kinda lost a little of her strong edge after she and Knox came together. I would have also like a little more depth into Knox's character because there were parts where he would decide something and all I could think of was WHY?!?!?. There are many twists that keep you on your toes!!
Overall I will defiantly be waiting for the next in the series!!
