I left my notes on my desk at work, so I can't finish this review at present time. But I will say that not only was I shocked at how basic police procedure was thrown to the wind, but also the borderline racist comments the detectives made. I'd hate to have these detectives on my case. Hate it!..

Emotionally battered hero, either has lost their wife, or was isolated. A strong, stand-offish heroine with a few quirks. A spree of murders, leading to the kidnapping of the heroine, and the hero comes and saves the day. But it never gets boring- for me at least. The mystery of who's behind it all and how all the little details tie in together always keeps me rushing to find out what the heck is going on :)
I will say, however- I'd say this one is more like a 4.5 stars...4.75 maybe... with all the stuff concerning Lucy and Sheidolin (can't blow it for anyone 'cause lol that was a nice shock) I would've really liked a BDSM scene. Shoot.. even if it was just her friend doing it.. lol but then again... it could just be my voyeur-perve side lol(less)

I usually find self-deprication to be annoying, but the inner struggles that David and Olivia have was just the right amount to keep you still... hurting for them, and desperately wanting them to find happiness. The plot was NUTS! Karen Rose's plots usually are... and while... it's kind of ridiculous how much drama happens to the Hunter family... you still get so engrossed in the story, the mystery, and the characters.
the hero- tall. handsome. firefighter. sweetheart. philanthropist... I mean it- whats not to love?? He's also, what, like a Tim-the-tool-man-Taylor type, running around catching bad guys, saving kittens in trees, being nice and kind and...::sigh:: My usual drug of choice is dark, sexy, lethal, dangerous bad-ass with an extra side of bad-ass and brutality, but I really do like David's character.
the heroine- Olivia holds her own. She's not a wimp, by far... I especially- well, I wouldn't say "enjoy" because it was not a happy feeling that accompanied, but appreciated that she was dealing with PTSD after what happened in I Can See You (the previous book)... it made her very relatable and very real to me.
the plot- how everything ties up in the end is just SHOCKING!! I don't know what else to say lol other than... lol it's just shocking
the sex- I don't even remember honestly lol Rose's books are mystery with a touch of romance, but the emotional kind not really physical.

the hero- whats not to like about Luke? I especially love his mom.
the heroine- if you've never endured harsh, harsh tragedy, it's hard to understand her self-deprication... but it fit with her character, and I liked seeing her development. I also like that despite her many "difficult" times, she was still capable of taking care of herself.
the plot- WOW! it's kinda of hard to keep track of everything, this is a fast paced book with many characters but the plot is so... multi-dimensional... plots within plots... games within games (to borrow a line from the fever series :)
the sex- Karen's books are more mystery than romance but it was good :) I admit though, kinda really want to be a fly on the wall when they break out the box!! ROFL (less)

Eve is an amazing character. A little "too good to be true" as in perfect, but not so much it makes you want to vomit. She's physically imperfect, comes from a very tragic past, but the fact that she was able to rise above all of that and still be a caring, nurturing person is endearing. Noah's battles and inner demons make this such a unique match.. you really want them to pull through.
But the kicker to this book (series... can't wait to read more from this series/author) is the SUSPENSE!!! I NEVER thought the doc was the one!! as you can tell from my updates lol Karen does an amazing job of leading you to believe it could be plenty of other people, and I just couldn't help but feel anxious the entire time, just dying to know who it was, what was going to happen... definitely a ride but an enjoyable one.
The scene in the back the charger.... SWEET!!! not the sugar kind lol
