It presents a ridiculously simplistic picture of how an economy works, of the "simple, easy to understand, and wrong" kind, accompanied by a lot of derogatory comments about those stupid, oh-so-stupid economists who are so brain-washed they can't grasp the simple reality of things. The book will provide conspiracy-minded ignoramuses with facile self-gratification, and leave anyone who knows anything about economic history shaking their head in frustration.(less)

It's a decent one : has Maher's comedic style all over it, shallow but relatable characters, and awkward situations. It is unlikely to transform American literature, but it is a funny little book nonetheless, especially if you like comedy and comedians.(less)

This is definitely not the case here : this is a brilliant book that explores much more interesting and difficult themes while retaining the charm and energy of the previous one. I'm already sad there's only a single book left in this story arc.(less)

The two books are very different, this one being much slower, to the point where about halfway through I was wondering whether this story was really going anywhere — there's definitely a Hobbit/Lord of the Rings thing going on here. Ultimately though, it is much deeper than Ender's Game, and reading it is highly rewarding. Heartily recommended.(less)

Hard Sci-Fi, children characters but adult themes, and the fate of the human race in the balance. OSC manages to make the reader care about Ender's personal struggle without ever forgetting the big picture, paints a fantastical and magical universe that remains scientifically and rationally coherent. I can't recommend this highly enough.(less)

The recipes seems less advanced to me than what you'd find in most of O'Reilly's Cookbooks, for example, but they're varied enough and the short time you'll need to read the book will probably prove profitable.(less)
