Certainly worth reading and I would recommend Megg's books to people looking for a new YA fantasy author.
If you are debating whether to buy it or not, I would suggest that you should. I will be keeping my eyes open for new books by this author as i can't wait to see what she does next.

Once again i would recommend this story to others. While the ending did increase anticipation for the next book (as i assume the author intended) I found it a little abrupt. However, as there is a third book, it didn't detract too much from my enjoyment.
Other than that, I look forward to the third Installment and I can't wait to see what eventually happens. I have bought all of Megg's books so far and can't wait to see what she does next!

I was expecting a reasonable book, i got magnificent! It ties in first place (with Clockwork Angel) as the best new release i have read all year. I was very impressed.
What an interesting take.
I find that many "fantasy" aspects of books come across forced. However India built the world by the characters acting in in. Not by forcing the reader to read about it. It made it so much more realistic!
It was well paced. The character were well thought out. The writing was even better than her first book and i loved it.
Well done India, This is a five start review that the book deserves!
I feel like i should have given this book a higher score. However i Can't. I can certainly see why many have given it a 5 star review. It is...more3.5 stars.
I feel like i should have given this book a higher score. However i Can't. I can certainly see why many have given it a 5 star review. It is a great book and the author should be very very happy with the results. The plot was interesting and well thought out and any problems with the book it was the desire to work out the fantastic plot that kept me moving. Just a couple of things that stopped me from enjoying it so much.
I am not a fan of gun carrying female main characters and i was very worried about this one. However balanced against the "Mr. Books" character i coped well enough. It was refreshing to have a male lead who was so different. It was his character that appealed to me far more than Miss Braun's. I found hers was slightly underdeveloped. I hope that this was intentional and designed to add some mystery to the novel and this will be addressed in the next book. *fingers crossed*
I found the writing difficult at times. I think because i read so fast and the action in this book came thick and fast. I found myself re-reading and re-reading to understand what was happening in the fast paced world.
On the whole it was a good book. I would certainly recommend to fans of the Steampunk genre as a book that should not be missed. I will look out for the next book to see what happens.

Even though i had to read it in snatches over a weeks due to busy night shifts at work, it still kept my interest to the end.
I recommend this book to all who love books that deal with chasing through history, with a good conspiracy story, some bad guys and a potential romance.
Good Job, can't wait to see more from this author!

Yes it certainly does contain some very adult language and actions however i spent my evening laughing, giggling all the way through. The plot was great (yes it does have one...) and i enjoyed the writing style.
A great short story that brightened up my evening. Certainly worth adding to the bookshelf for a quiet moment, possibly a glass of wine in hand and curled up in bed. That was what i was going while reading it!

I watch sci-fi but read historical so it was a bit unusual for me to read.
I downloaded the free sample of Amazon and i was hooked. Couldn't buy it fast enough.
Interesting take with the POV, but it worked very well.
The only thing that i wasn't so sure of was the fact that i thought that Amy was much younger in the first 3 chapters than i realised she was. Now on re-reading i can see the author did put in signposts to her age, but i ignored them some how. It was a bit of a shock to find out that she was older than i thought.
Other than that her characters were awesome, particularly some of the smaller character.
I loved it and am far too tired at nearly 1:00am to do this book justice.

I didn't connect with the characters or story. I found it rather corny. Great if you love vampire stories but i am luke warm at best. I loved Twilight, but that was because it was the first 'vampire' book i had read. It was new and interesting.
I nearly put this down. But i am stubborn and wanted to finish it.
I also found the voice didn't quite grab me. The author has created a distinctive style - which is great! But i just didn't like it.
However, I think that much of my rating is because i didn't like the book, not because the author didn't create a good story. The author DID create a great story. The premise (although a little over done now) was great. The subplots and other aspects were good. It sets itself up well for the next book in the series.
If you like vampire stories, and are looking for a quick, light fun read with an interesting plot then this is the book for you.
I wasn't looking for this and therefore i didn't really connect with it.(less)

Despite this, i would like to say the Megg Jensen is an author i will be keeping a close eye on in the future. I think that she has a lot of talent. I will certainly be reading more of her work in the future.
The plot behind the book was great! (4.5 / 5) I love the ideas and concepts. It was the story itself that drew me into this book. I spent every single second reading this book itching to find out what happened next. The plot moved very well and i enjoyed every minute reading this book. The characters were also well crafted. Their different energies flew off the page. I really felt the different personalities shining through.
What i found difficult, was that the author was dropping subtle hints about plot lines that actually were not that subtle. Readers get a lot out of one line. Some of it was very obvious and a few of the 'hints' sounded very false, like they were in there just to drop a hint to the readers.
Secondly I found that some of the speech was a bit disjointed. It slipped from historical sounding to casual modern language. I think it would have improved the story if the speech had been better crafted.
On occasion i also felt that important ideas were just throw in to get them out of the way and a couple of the scenes were underdeveloped.
Despite these little problems the story was engaging to say the least. Junior readers may like the extra hints the author provides and the slightly underdeveloped scenes certainly kept the plot moving at a great pace. Great for people who might put down a book at the slightest pause. It also meant that i could fly through the book and finish it in 1/2 a day.
I would recommend reading this book. I will perhaps even read it again myself and i will certainly be reading more of her work as it comes through.

What an interesting take on supernatural themes. The way that the Angels were portrayed and the detail they were described in really made the story. It was such a different take and it just worked.
The suspense and mystery in the book was well played and it was balanced by a steamy hot romance. Alexander could be MY guardian Angel any day!!!

it provided such a fantastic snapshot of the time.

It was just the sort of thing that i would enjoy. Books, archaeology, dash of adventure.
However i can see why some of the ratings have been at 3 stars. Yes the book did seem to slow a little after the murders, the pace seemed to decline a bit which felt strange. Unlike some of the other reviews, i actually liked the few instances where we changed time zones to listen to the previous encounters. I thought that while they slowed the book, they were valuable and interesting. I enjoy the history of these time zones however so for me they really were interesting.
One thing however was that i felt that some characters were written into the book so they could die. It seemed a bit "i need to kill a character - so lets introduce one."
Other than that i really enjoyed the book. I would recommend it.

The beginning was over described and i can see why some put the book down at this point. i refused to do this.
However, on reading it, the subject grabbed me. The story evolved. The writing while still descriptive mellowed and i really began to enjoy it. I couldn't put it down. I really liked this book. i thought that the story line progressed well. I found my-self turning each page desperate to know what happened to this curious line of women. While once or twice i was annoyed at the Heroine for not finding connections that the reader was certainly aware of, i could reason these away.

I read this book because i was writing in a similar genre. I have a lot to live up to. I loved the characters, i loved the plot and i love the fairly quick flowing, easy to read writing style. I especially loved the way she grew the characters through the story. They are not shallow empty figures but people with a real history and purpose.
I was very impressed. I will be buying the next in the series with eager anticipation.

Don't get me wrong, i loved this book by the end. I loved it at the beginning. The middle, well, while i understood and appreciated the raw emotions, i was still frustrated with the characters. So i guess my 3 stars of because i was annoyed at the characters rather than the writing quality.
The characters were well portrayed and the conclusion as fitting as it needed to be.
I really enjoyed this book, just not sure i could go through those emotions again which is unusual for me. I enjoy crying in books normally.
I still recommend this book highly for people wanting to explore the emotions of a family dealing with a sick child.(less)

Under normal circumstances I would never have read this book. I accidentally ran into the Author's website, liked her posts and decided that i could chance trying a new thing. I bought her book.
I was surprised. I enjoyed it and spent two nights quickly turning pages desperate to know the outcome. The writing is witty and the sarcastic humor is right up my alley. It had the right amount of good romance and a rather large dash of drama. The characters were well formed. I especially liked the development of the creepy contestant.
The book 'just worked' really well and i loved the fresh spin Tali created. It was very well sculpted and the threads came in excellently at the end.
Really well done! Especially since i don't normally manage to read this genre at all.
Great Job and i would certainly recommend this book to others. Tali Roland is certainly an author to keep tabs on.

I am writing a similar subject so it was good research. I am only giving it 4 stars because i liked (but also didn't like) the writing style i know that sounds weird. It was very well put together, just something bugged me a little. I also got very annoyed at the MC in the start.
Overall a very good book and one i would certainly recommend to others.

On occasion i found the flashbacks annoying as i just wanted to get to the end, but they were well done.
I found the whole book very *realistic* if you can use that term in this situation. It was just real and raw. It didn't feel like it was an airy fairy topic. I was concerned it might be.
Please read this book. A GREAT example of a YA contemporary with a fantastic point of view.(less)

I wasn't disappointed. While I found the beginning a little slow, it quickly grew on me. I found myself really wanting to get to the end as I wanted to know what would be coming next.I found the twist on the 'usual' vampire stories was fresher than I expected and I really enjoyed the 'twist' that Angeline gave the vampire world. I thought it worked well.
I especially liked the characterization given to the male lead (The MC's new love interest). For me, he was the character for me that was 'walking out of the page'.
Well done on creating such an great book, I can't wait to see where you take the story and how your writing develops.

Every time i wonder if i would be brave enough to do what these people had to do.
The writing style is quite different to what i would normally read however because of the story and the desire to know what happens, the words just fly by.

I guess it is everyone writer/reader/historian's dream to imagine the could walk into the The Library of Alexandria. I know it is a dream for me. So this book just read itself.
I have heard some criticism over the accuracy of the Author's historical research in general and some comments about his writing style. However I enjoyed this book. I would recommend this book. I would most likely even re-read this book.
I also like Dan Brown's books and the subject is obviously very similar in many regards. Modern mystery that has it's roots in the past.
