His was always a journey of hope defeated by disappointment, good intentions overcome by darkness, and friendship ruined by mistrust. Finally, at twenty-eight years of age, he thinks he has found happiness, but then the horror begins.
Estrella “Star” del Rio is an intelligent, self-centered prostitute with three distinct personalities who cares for no one except herself. Since she was old enough to remember, she has only been able to think of one thing, revenge against those that she blames for her plight.
As part of her plan for revenge, Star masterfully inserts herself into Deacon’s life and for six months uses her hatred to turn his world upside down and rock the streets of St. Louis.
Deacon believes she is his lover. Star knows she is his enemy. Together they uncover things about their pasts that separately they never suspected. In the end, Star reveals a devastating family secret that will change Deacon’s life forever.
Star sees Deacon as weak, but she is wrong. Only he possesses the power to beat her at her own hellish plan... (less)

Ragland's debut novel is like a beautiful song you cannot get out of your head. The characters, both human and angelic, are so real their images will imprint your soul and their words will echo over and over in your mind. With one foot firmly planted in each of two totally opposing worlds, Ragland's protagonist, Sophie, struggles to solve the mystery of her life and the meaning of her existence. Ragland's writing is well researched and wonderfully executed. I highly recommend Yoke and anxiously await the next book in the trilogy. (less)

They say great art leaves you changed after the experience, and Elizabeth's Secret’s is a testament to this truth. This is one of the best books I’ve read in years. I loved the author and cursed him for making me cry so early in the book. THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE! I cry at the end, maybe the last quarter of a book, but never in the beginning. I was drawn into the story immediately and found my heart pounding along with the characters. I found myself hoping and praying along with them too. My heart broke and was uplifted again. My ears rang. Alexander is a true American talent and Elizabeth’s Secrets is a masterpiece. ~E.M. Ragland, Author
Elizabeth’s Secrets is a rollercoaster of emotions, combining expert character development and an intriguing storyline, which leaves you anxious to turn each page. Mr. Paul Alexander’s second novel is even more masterfully written than Dark Star! ~Carl Sparks, Author (less)

Ms. Brown does an incredible job of describing characters and events with such panache that you are drawn into her story from the first page. You see her life and challenges through her eyes and you feel her pain.
Take your time with this book, read every word. In each you will find meaning, truth, and depending upon your own circumstance, you may even find some answers. (less)
