There would be no middle ground when it came to this epic series. Especially since I was already part of the roaring fandom found on tumblr. The show, the books, the quotes – I love it all and I endlessly found myself lost in it. Save for that small problem that I had never read or seen the series. Least to say, it was very fortunate that when I did finish the book, I was very much in love – more so than I had been before.
The book took me a few dozen or so starts before I actually got rolling into it. I made the mistake of starting the book in the middle of the school semester, piled high with midterms and homework. There's nothing like attempting to keep up with who is sleeping with who and who is related to who when your English professor wants a seven page paper on Shakespeare.
It filled the void that I had been lacking – lately, at the time, searching for a book or something that could give me romance, but not overwhelm me with it. The drama was enough to make me squeal in delight and leave me hungry for more and, how could I deny that Cersei was none other than the best wicked bitch ever? The book was everything I had ever needed, if not more. I ate it up; ready for each page, each influx of information that would more than likely overwhelm me and send me crawling to Google. But I never backed down and I don't regret it.
This book grants five stars, for making it impossible to put it down (although I'm not sure if it was because it was so great or because I had to keep rereading some passages). George has a wonderful way of pulling you in, making you fall madly in love with his characters, and then BAM, kills them when you least expect it. ...more

"Life of Pi" was one of those books I knew nothing about, I didn't read the jacket cover, I didn't read a review, I didn't google or amazon it, but I did know the quote "Richard Parker has stayed with me. I’ve never forgotten him. Dare I say I miss him? I do. I miss him." up, down, left, right, front and back.
Actually reading the book, I started into it slowly …it's not really my usual cup of tea. I usually like a lot more action, historical truth or romance and this was completely out of the norm for me but as I started to get through the book I started to get soaked into it – literally. I'm not one for religion (and was no swayed by the book) but I love learning the differences between every single religion – the fact that Pi was giving his love to God through three different points of view, shocked me! It pushed me to read on and to read more, faster even. I had to gobble that book up; especially when the animals came into play.
I'm an animal lover through and through so when it came to being in the lifeboat with Richard Parker I couldn't set the book down. The trials he was set through, the life he had to live for so long …Yann Martel had a way of weaving the words together to put me right on the lifeboat with them, I felt as if I was back in the ocean with the saltwater in my hair and too much of it on my skin. I used an overabundance of lotion during my time reading this book.
Like Richard Parker has stayed with Pi, this book is going to stay with me forever whether I read it again or not.
I do believe this is one book that everyone should read for the sake of reading, no because it won an award but because, I think "Life of Pi" is very moving. It isn't like any other book out there; sure, books of survival are easy to come by but never like this.
