Because witI don't even know where to begin with this review...other then, when can I get the next book?! I kinda really need it now, like right now. Because with that ending I kinda of really need to see what's going to happen. Now it wasn't the biggest cliff hanger ending I've ever read, but it's definitely up there.
I loved where C.C. took the story in this book. Granted I could have done without a couple things happening. I was really missing two of the guys, like really missing them, and I wasn't the only one. I sure wanted to join in and be the one stuffing my face with ice cream when they left. Lol I loved that part. You gotta love Della. Flashback to Della stomping on a carton of ice cream. Anyway, back to the story. I loved the new twist C.C. put in with the ghost and all the visions and what they all meant and how they were all connected. It was also really fun to see Della working a case without her feeling like she had to prove herself. And I love that she gets to kick butt...a lot of butt. I also really loved Burnett in this. I know, I know, I'm always bringing him up, but I just love that guy, and he gets better and better in every book but I was kinda wanting to see him more with his little girl. the couple of scenes we do get to see them together were just so cute even though there wasn't much to it. I do wish we could have seen Kylie and Miranda a little more but in the beginning they were always off with their boyfriends. I did really like the new warlock guy. He was pretty awesome, but I don't want him with a certain someone who shall remain nameless at this time. But I do hope we get to see him a little more in the next book. I'm also really excited to get to know a certain two vampires a little more as well. It will be so good for Della to have them around.
****SLIGHT SPOILERS**** Spoilers right here!!!! If you haven't read this don't read this part!!! One thing I didn't like about this book was how much Chase uses being bonded to Della to justify everything. I hated how much it was brought up, like 'we are meant to be together because we are bonded now', you know our relationship will lead there because we are bonded.' It was just used way too much and I really started to resent it and I really hated that Della started to fall for it. it was used to explain away too much in my opinion. Because I feel like the only reason Della and Chase grow close is because of the bond and not because of how they really feel. I felt like a spell has been cast on them and they can't choose what they feel or what they want because the bond controls them. They don't have a choice. At least with Steve you knew it was real, there wasn't anything there causing them to feel what they felt. It was just them with their real feelings. But with the bond I feel like it even messed with her feelings for Steve. You don't care for someone as much as she did for Steve and then all of a sudden stop that just didn't make sense to me. It really annoyed me and it kinda caused me to not like this book as much as the first one. Cough Cough, sorry about that rant, because I really did love this book. I'm just on a certain persons team and I don't think he is going to win in the end all because of a certain bond. And I really hope that Miranda and Perry are okay in the next book. I love those two together! They are one of my favorites. I do have faith that C.C. is going to end this as good as she did with Kylie's series. ****END OF SPOILERS****
So yeah, on with the book. I love, like Love Della's new powers. It would be so awesome to be able to do what she can do now. I also liked the mystery in this book. I called some of it, but like Della and Chase I couldn't put all the pieces together until the end. And I really can't wait to find out what is really going on back at home!!!!! Oh Golly, I can't wait until the next book comes out and this book isn't even officially out yet. What am I going to do?! Obsess, that's all there is to it, I'm going to obsess over it trying to figure out what is going on in C.C.'s mind and where she is going to take this final book!!!! And with how this ends you can kinda guess what it's going to be about. But that's all I can do until that next book comes out, is guess. I can't wait to for more of C.C.'s amazing writing!!!! ...more
*****DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED OR ARE JUST STARTING KYLIE'S SERIES WHICH STARTS WITH BORN AT MIDNIGHT*****
Well, C.C. did it again. Am *****DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED OR ARE JUST STARTING KYLIE'S SERIES WHICH STARTS WITH BORN AT MIDNIGHT*****
Well, C.C. did it again. Am I honestly surprised? No. But I'm surprised by how much I truly liked it. I loved Kylie's story and didn't know how I was going to like having these characters continuing through life through someone else POV. But WOW that was amazing!!!! Like seriously AMAZING!!! I did wonder how C.C. was going to write Della's story and not make it sound like Kylie's but she did it. First, I want to start with how glad I am that we get to know Steve a lot better. He's definitely my favorite out of Lucas and Derek. I love how much he cares for Della, she definitely deserves someone who excepts her for who she is, spunk and all. Second, I love how much we get to know Della. You get to know her really well in Kylie's books because Kylie is so observant and understands Della. But you don't get to see what is really going on in Della's head. You only get to see what Kylie thinks is going on you never get the full picture. In this however you truly get to see Della's insecurities and her doubts and you really get to know her better. You get to see how much she struggles with being a Vampire and how hard it is to lie to her family about it. Thirdly, I can't write a review about any of these books without mentioning Holiday and Burnett. I was worried that we weren't going to see that much of them because it seemed that Kylie was closer to them then Della. But oh how I was wrong with this as well. And I can't complain one bit. Because I love those two! they're just so adorable. And you still get to see plenty of them. Fourth, I love, like LOVE! the new twist C.C. has added to the story, with what is happening to Della. Some people might now like it but I personally loved it. It just made everything make so much more sense. And it also made the book that much more exciting. Along with all of Della's little quests. I don't want to mention what they are because I don't want to give anything away, but they sure made for a really fun read. Fifth, how can I not mention Kylie, Miranda, Derek, Lucas, and Perry? Because they still play a pretty big part in this. Miranda and Perry are still just as in love as ever. Lucas and Kylie are even closer then where Kylie's story ended. And I was so happy to see something growing between Derek and Jenny. You do get to see all the boys become a little to over protective of the girls, but don't worry, the girls get to kick some serious but and shove it in the boys faces that they are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves, which is very important to Della because she wants to be a part of the FRU so bad that sometimes she goes about it all the wrong ways. Sixth, I really enjoyed watching how much Burnett cares for Della. And because he cares for her so much he tends to step on her toes a lot, which leads to some pretty funny arguments between the two, to which Holiday just sits back and lets them duke it out. I was honestly surprised though how much he cares. I mean obviously he care for all of them, but he has a big soft spot where Della is concerned. Seventh, the new guy. What can I say about the new guy? Other than he might be a little drool worthy. But he is such mystery throughout the book that you don't truly get to know him until the ending. If I had to choose between the guys right now it would definitely be Steve. I just really like Steve and Della together and how close they are. He's the first guy that has somewhat sorda let in since her ex-boyfriends, and that's big for her. But Chase has his moments as well. And with how the book ends you can definitely tell that things are going to get a little interesting between the three of them. But at this point, in the end, I really hope she chooses Steve. They just go together so well. Like a Salt and Sweet snack. Anywho, with how the last half of the book went, I don't know how Della stayed sane. I would have been emotionally and physically drained, to the point where I would just want to sit around and sleep for days. I really hope C.C. get's that second book out fast because I'm dying to see where she is going to take this story. With that ending you know it's going to be good!!!!! ...more
