The sentences in the book are simple 2-3 word sentences which makes it an easy read. It is a pretty humorous book as well. No in depth plot, not too engaging.(less)

It tells how the Gingerbread Man runs from everyone he comes into contact with because they all want to eat him! Eventually, he reaches a river that he cannot cross. A sly fix tells him that he will help him across teh river if he hops on his back. So the Gingerbread Man hops on the fox and the fox ends up knocking the Gingerbread Man off his back and....was that the end of the Gingerbread Man? This would be a good book to sue for predicting what will happen next or as a story basket.(less)

It is about a young girl named Penelope who is afraid to go to bed because she think there are monsters in her room, as many children do think. Her father tells her not to worry and go to bed. Her dresser drawers start to bang, her closet door rattles, her bed kept shaking, AH! There are many, many repeating phrases that occur in this book from Penelope telling her Dad she can't sleep, to the monster's lines, to her Dad telling her to go back to sleep. The vocabulary used in this book is very fun and would be sure to catch any child's attention.(less)

It is about a boy named Alexander who has a "terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day". Everything seems to go wrong from the moment he wakes up! This is a humorous book for adults and for children as well. The things that make Alexander's day so bad can relate to younger children too. This would be great for a read-aloud in large group to show how some days are going to be "bad days" but they will get better!(less)
