Beautifully written, Chbosky writes observations with a hint of sadness and doom, so amazingly. Really clear and precise, yet full of meaning. I cried my eyes out the final 30 pages of the book, even though I already knew what was coming.
I would definitely and for sure, recommand this book to everything and everyone. (less)

MZB has been criticized a lot, but in spite of the fact that I probably agree with a lot of that criticism, the way she tells her stories has always spellbound me.
So after all these years I finally got my hands on this book and read it. Right from the beginning though, this book had a very tragic feel about it and I realized it was based on Norma I understood why I felt that. Eilan and Gaius lead a very doomed life. All their choices seem to either hasten or delay the inevitable. My favorite character by far would be Caillean, who, with her headstrong opinions and undying loyalty to both Lhiannon and Eilan, is a very formidable woman. I think I could connect with her the best. Dieda by far the least, whose anger and indignation never made any sense to me. I suppose it came from being the arch-druids daughter, but this is never explained.
My main issue with MZB will always be that she seems to write these stories with a very strong female perspective in mind, then turns around and makes them all boy crazy. Or driven by their need to please or be with men. Even Eilan, who is High Priestess behaves like this is a burden she must bear in name of the Godess and that therefore she can not be with Gaius. In this case Caillean is the only one who doesn't behave this way, but the reason behind this is that she was raped! From this thinking MZB's men are written much more as full characters, not just a gender obsessed with another gender.
I know I being negative, but at the end of the day, the scenery and beauty of the land that MZB describes and the way these characters are all inexplicably tied to that land, will always keep me coming back to these books. (less)

I don't always get all of his imagery, but I certainly love how he infuses his made up world with so many cultural references from our.
If I understand it correctly, I will miss Twoflower and Rincewind.

SPOILERS COMING UP!!
All in all though I truly loved reading this book. Learning more about all of these characters was amazing. Amazing and frustrating, because they are truly flawed and occasionally it is really hard to know everything and see these characters flail in the dark. I've grown to love and care for them. Martin has certainly taken my into his world. Cercei might just be the most tragic character ever written, in desiring to be like all the men around her she has forgotten herself and become her own worse enemy. Breaks my heart. Just like Brienne, having her story end that way in the book was just plain cruel. Honestly, it was cruel. I shed many tears over that. I still remain insanely excited about Arya and I loved that she ran into Sam and helped him. I have also fallen in love with Dorne and hope to see hear/more about Arianne. When her father revealed his plan it took me second to wrap my brain around it, but damnit! So good.
I now have only one book left, so I think I'll be taking my sweet time with that one as well. I'll probably keep reading other books as well, just to drag it out a bit. Or maybe I'll get sucked in again and finish it in 2 weeks who knows. Either way, onto to part 5!!(less)

I find it truly remarkable that Bradbury wrote this book 60 years ago or something and that it is still so relevant today. If this book at been released today, it would have been just as insightful and have just as great an impact. I think that says a lot about Bradbury, but also about the world today.
Montag is a complex yet simple characters, whose simple encounter with a girl finds himself with opened eyes that he can't seem to close anymore. I think many people fear and secretly want that experience as well (why do so many people travel to find themselves? This is why). But his struggle and ultimate acceptance of his own active role in his life and in the world is quite powerful and inspiring to read.
There was an interview with Ray Bradbury at the end of the book and though truly admire and love this man, it kind off through me off. I couldn't quite make out what I thought of it. I now wish I hadn't read it, because it has since influenced my opinion of the book. Maybe once those feelings have settled I can come back to this book again and I can rate it higher, but for now, at this moment, I am giving it 3 stars. Because it is a classic, that important and that everyone should read, but I also think it should make you think critically, not just about the world, but also about the book itself and its author. The flow of this book was much better than Clash of Kings. Even though it should have felt more disjointed it never really did. There was not enough Daenearys in this book, but I am beginning to think there is never enough of her, in any of the books. Maybe book 5. Moving on though, the pacing was great and some interesting things were revealed. Most of which I already suspected. Martin is great at hints, but reading the books after one another like this the clues are fairly obvious. Unless no clues were given of course, like in the case of Catelyn, in those cases the surprise is shocking and wonderful.
I did read the book in two parts, but I took just as long reading the two parts as I did reading the other two books. There are some massive cliffhangers at the end of many of the chapters, but I somehow don't mind. Sansa, Tyrion, Arya, Jon all have wonderful endings to their chapters and I somehow take comfort in knowing that their journeys are far from over. I keep wondering what happened to Davos though. I am really afraid they killed him and I am going to miss Catelyn immensely. Ned's death was a shock, but I'll be mourning Catelyn's for a while. Even though she had kinda come back. I wonder if she'll have another POV.
Okay, massive review. I'll begin the fourth book on Monday and continue this amazing journey. These books are helping me get through a really rough time and I will forever be grateful to Martin and all his characters for that. (less)

I really liked it, to put it into Goodreads words. The pace is much slower in this one though and it feels much more disjointed than the first one. Which makes it difficult to read, because the book is long and you really only feel like you're "in it" when you can read for a longer period of time. However, when you do it really is quite a good read. I could have done without Theon's perpective, but I suppose he had his purpose. I wonder what will happen to Davos.
I won't go into it much, but it is still a great book, with great twists and turns. The Starks appear to have a little bit of magic in them. I wonder what brought the magic back... The Others were already there before the dragons were even born. Maybe it was what the wildlings were searching for... No spoilers! I think I need a bit of a break before I jump into the third book. I read the first chapter, but I think I'll read something else first. (less)

Heartbreaking at times and I even cried at one point, so it definitely got to me. Could have been stronger though and a lot of characters did not have a good resolution. I like how this is an autobiography, without it actually being an autobiography. Patti gives snippets of her life, snippets that she remembers and finds important. Her life with Robert Mapplethorpe obviously had an amazing impact on her and I completely understand why she chose to write about and focus on him in her book.
I would have loved it if she had included more of her thought process in some decisions, but it is beautifully written. A great read all around!(less)

This book is like the books I used to read as a child. A world unknown, made up, full of other worldly creatures and honor and men and women who fight. Not with guns, but swords and hands. Read the whole thing in nearly a week in the mornings before work and at night when I got home.
