It's a quick read, and you'll be able to implement at least a few of these hacks immediately.
What I most liked about the book is that it also provides ways for parents with young children to implement productivity hacks...so many productivity experts fail to address the "complications" that arise when you have little ones at home.
I'd highly recommend this book to a productivity-ist ready to take their process to the next level....more

I've read many books about routines, productivity and getting things done. Though they touch on various aspects of productivity, they don't necessarily tie it all together in a succinct package. This book does. It's practical and immediately applicable. There's no fluff—just what works!
He opens the book by discussing your "why" for getting up earlier. He then addresses the "how" of getting up earlier without simply cutting your sleep time. He then emphasizes the importance of morning and evening rituals.
It's a quick read and was beneficial for me because I was searching for a way to allow myself enough sleep while still being able to wake up naturally without an alarm clock. Through reading this book, I've been able to turn off my vibrating Fitbit alarm and wake up much more rested.
Here are a few of my own takeaways:
- You need to be realistic about your morning/evening rituals. Don't try to do everything, or you will never get your day started! - Figure out which parts of your rituals matter most to you. Keep those. Ditch the rest. - Don't be afraid to experiment with different sleep/wake cycles to determine which work best for you. - You cannot simply "wake up earlier" without getting in a good night of sleep prefaced by a relaxing evening ritual. - There are no shortcuts or biohacks to ditching your alarm clock...it takes planning and preparation.
I'd highly recommend this book to anyone interested in improving their productivity, designing a better bedtime/wake cycle and enhancing their personal performance.

This guide is a quick, practical read that gives you the bare bones of what you need to know about breathing, why it's important to health and longevity and how to incorporate a breathing practice into your life. If you're intent on changing your breathing habits, you could read this book and try the exercises -- all within 60-90 minutes total!
Here's a quick rundown of the topics covered in the book:
- How breathing affects your life - Why you should use your diaphragm (and stop sucking in your stomach 24/7) - Where breathing goes wrong - What problems are caused by shallow breathing - How to know if you are breathing correctly - How breathing affects the lymphatic system - Breathing practices to reduce stress, insomnia, anxiety and tension - Breathing exercises for emotional control - Three-part breathing techniques - How to create a breathing routine that you can stick with
Some key takeaways for me:
- It's not a good idea to flatten our abdominals, as this hampers our natural breath and can cause serious repercussions. - What does a deep breath look and feel like? - How deep breaths can help our body pump fluid and nutrients into the heart, while also removing wastes - Ways that I can become more mindful about my breathing throughout the day - How I can incorporate a breathing routine into my daily life (and add it to my yoga practice)

If you are trying to accept your body and embrace your "badass self"—rather than trying to morph it into something else—this is the book for you. Be forewarned that there are no dieting strategies or tricks to help you fit into those skinny jeans. This book is all about bucking the cultural norms of accepted beauty and size, while challenging the reader to embrace her FBS (future badass self) no matter what size or shape she is.
It's an entertaining read, loaded with humor and sarcasm, which will get you smiling and ignite your confidence. Looking forward to more from Summer Innanen! ...more
