I absolutely fell in love with the Night Huntress series and since Vlad is one of my favorite characters in that series, when I found out that he was getting his own I was ecstatic.
Once Burned starts off with Leila, who is a human with some unusual abilities. An accident with a downed power line with she was thirteen left her with the ability to expel power whenever she touches someone. It also left her with psychometry; the ability to see the past, present and future by one touch.
Leila’s gift comes to the attention of a group of vampires who want to use her to track down the most notorious vampire Vlad Tepesh. While trying to connect to Vlad and see where his location is in the present she accidently makes a mental connection with him. Once explaining the situation to Vlad, he comes to her rescue and this is where to story really begins.
I love Leila and Vlad together. Leila is a strong character; she doesn’t dwell on her past or feel sorry for herself, she does an awesome job at dealing with the cards she has been dealt. I’ve always loved Vlad. I love his sense of humor and his protectiveness. I think Leila is a good fit for him, she’s not afraid to put him in his place…which let’s face it, not a lot of people can get away with that.
The Night Huntress fans will be glad to know that we do get to see a few characters from the Night Huntress series in this book. Once Burned is a great first book in the Night Prince series and I’m eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.
"I'm attracted to a lot of hot guys. If Chris Hemsworth were here, I'd light him up like a firecracker with how fast I'd jump on him."
“I’m the only authentic Vlad. Everyone else is merely an envious imitation.”

I was impatiently waiting Before I Wake after reading If I Die and let me tell you, Ms. Vincent did not disappoint. I don't want to give anything away but I felt sooo sorry for Emma. I loved how Kaylee & Tod's relationship grew in BIW and I can't wait to see what's in store for them in WAMS! If you haven't read this series you NEED TO!!!...more

I know that sounds kind of crazy but I’ve come to find that a lot of the books that I’m really excited about disappoint me and I really didn’t want that to happen with this book. After finally breaking down and reading The Selection I’m very happy to say that I was wrong; this book surpassed my every expectation.
The Selection is a competition in which thirty five girls compete against each other to not only win the heart of Prince Maxon but also to become the Princess of Illea. For most girls being chosen as one of the Selected is a dream come true, America Singer is not one of those girls. America is already in love with Aspen, only they have to keep their relationship a secret because Aspen is a caste below her. The only reason America entered the Selection is because she never dreamed that she would get chosen. Once America’s name is drawn everything changes.
Before America meets Prince Maxon she expects him to be self absorbed and shallow but she quickly learns that he is not like that at all, he’s actually smart, kind and extremely caring. I must admit that usually when I read books that have love triangles I typically know which team I’m on rather quickly, but I’m still undecided in this case, hopefully after reading The Elite I will be able to choose.
The Selection is a very fast paced and entertaining read. The writing was flawless and the story flowed easily. This is definitely one of my top ten books that I’ve read this year and I’m sure after I read The Elite I will be adding it to that list as well.

Jennifer L. Armentrout certainly knows how to write hot aliens. If all extra terrestrials are like Daemon Black then I sure as heck wouldn’t mind an alien invasion. I absolutely loved everything about this book; I seriously think I highlighted half of it. Onyx is definitely my favorite book so far this year.
Katy is still the same stubborn girl that we met in Obsidian; she’s still denying what she truly feels for Daemon. She will not admit her feelings to him because she thinks that he really doesn’t care about her, that everything that he thinks he feels is just because of the connection they made when he saved her life. I also love the fact that Kat is a book lover & blogger (And yes, I had to mention blogging :D). At least Katy understands why I buy more books even when I have a huge stack that I haven’t read yet (My husband? Not so much :P)
Daemon is still the snarky, sarcastic, confident *cough* hot *cough* alien from next door, from the beginning of Onyx he lets Katy know exactly how he feels about her, but since the whole connection thing, she doesn’t believe him so she pushes him away. But the chemistry and the connection between Katy and Daemon is so obvious and strong that I don’t know how she can deny it for as long as she does.
When Katy starts seeing Blake, the new guy in school, Daemon isn’t too happy about it. Katy finally realizes that its not the connection that’s causing the attraction between her and Daemon and she’s ready to finally admit her feelings for Daemon but something always comes up and when something terrible happens; something that could destroy not only her relationship with Daemon, but also her friendship with Dee, she fears it may be too late.
Onyx is a nail-biting, grab-the-edge-of-your-seat, never-want-it-to end sequel. It will have you under its spell from the beginning. It’s utterly compelling and humorous with twists that you won’t see coming, this book hooks you from the very beginning. Ms. Armentrouts writing is absolutely stunning; I can honestly say that I will not hesitate in reading any books that she writes because I know that I will love them. After the jaw-dropping ending, I am eagerly awaiting the next installment. The Lux series is one that you really shouldn’t miss!
‘His lips tipped up one side and he leaned toward me, his mouth inches from mine, “Come and get it.” Come and get…? Daemon placed half the cookie between those full, totally kissable lips. Oh, holy alien babies everywhere…’
“Stop distracting me, Kitten. Back to my bet – by New Year’s Day, you’ll have admitted that you’re madly, deeply, irrevocably, and irresistibly in love with me.” ...more
It has been a while since I read Shatter Me so I put off reading this book for a while in fear that I wou "Hell is empty. And all the devils are here."
It has been a while since I read Shatter Me so I put off reading this book for a while in fear that I wouldn’t be able to get back into the story. But, I was entirely wrong. Once I picked this book up, I fell right back into this world and I LOVED every minute of it.
Juliette is torn in a lot of different ways in this book but that’s what makes her human, I’m sure we’ve all been through something in our lives that we’ve had trouble with making a decision. Also, I must admit that when reading and after finishing Shatter Me, I was on Team Adam and after finishing Unravel Me, I have switched sides. I have now joined the ranks of Team Aaron Warner.
This series is has some of the most beautifully written books that I have ever read. Mafi’s writing style is so unique and stunning that it’s so easy to fall in love with this story and these characters. Unravel Me will leave you breathless and wanting more. Mere words cannot express just how much I NEED Ignite Me.
Oh, one more thing….CHAPTER 62. That is all....more

17 year old Samantha Reed is obsessed with her next door neighbors, the Garrett’s. She has been secretly watching Mr. & Mrs. Garrett and their eight children ever since they moved in next door ten years ago. While outside on her roof watching the Garrett’s one night she gets caught by none other than Jase Garrett, they share an instant connection. Sam feels like she can tell him anything.
I completely understand why Samantha is infatuated with the Garretts’, because I absolutely adore them too, and if they lived beside me, most likely I would be watching them all the time as well. They are just a completely fascinating family and you can just feel the love and respect that they all have for one another.
Jase is by far my favorite Garrett (George is a close second). He’s smart, sweet, genuine, witty and you can tell how much he truly cares about Samantha. Samantha is a strong character as well, she’s intelligent, responsible and she also has a big heart. Tim is a character that I didn’t like at all in the beginning of this book but he straightens his life out and he actually turns out to be a better friend to Samantha than Nan (who I don’t like at all btw).
Samantha and Jase are going strong until Samantha witnesses something huge, something that if she tells it would not only ruin her mother’s political career but there’s a big chance that she might lose Jase forever.
Samantha has to make some really tough decisions, decisions that could destroy everything. It’s easy to know the difference between right and wrong, but most of the time choosing to do the right thing is hard.
My Life Next Door is an engaging and fun read but it’s also romantic and emotional, the first pages will grip you and by the end you will be craving more of the crazy and charming family next door. I would definitely recommend this book to fans of Stephanie Perkins’ Anna and the French Kiss. ...more

I really didn’t know what to expect going into Shadow and Bone, I had been putting it off for a while because I wasn’t sure that it would be a book I would enjoy due to all of the Russian culture. And honestly, it did take me a few chapters to get used to the terms and the names, but once I did, the zombie apocalypse couldn’t have made me put this book down. The world that Leigh Bardugo has created is absolutely breathtaking and I was completely absorbed.
I loved seeing the main character, Alina, grow immensely during this book. At the beginning she’s very insecure and she continuously doubts herself but by the end she’s stronger, more determined and she has a lot more confidence in herself and her gift. I have to admit that I really didn’t care for Mal during the first part of the book and it isn’t until he proves how much he cares about Alina that I start warming up to him. The Darkling…ahhhh, I am SOOO confused about my feelings for the Darkling. I was very intrigued by him at first, then I slowly started finding him irresistible and then I started to hate him, but yet I still find myself hoping that we are missing something when it comes to him and that he’s not all terrible. See what I mean, The Darkling has me perplexed!
The world-building is so stunning; I had no trouble visualizing the Little Palace or the Shadow Fold with its horrendous creatures. Bardugo’s writing style is incredible and she will have you fully captivated with the dark and suspenseful world that is Shadow and Bone.
Overall, Shadow and Bone is a wonderful addition to the fantasy genre. It has everything that is needed to make a great book: strong heroine, adventure, a mysterious villain that you love to hate and a fast-paced plot. If you are like me and have been putting this book off, do yourself a favor and pick it up.
“I’ve been waiting for you a long time, Alina,” he said. “You and I are going to change the world.”
