The growth in the characters is also one of the factors why I gave it a 5-star rating. I mean we get to see these girls from the love struck naive teenagers to the butt kicking young lady they are now. Because of the series I am now a fan of Ally Carter and I'm planning on reading her other works. I felt sadness towards the last few chapters of this book because I kind of didn't want it to end. Although it was a "light read" it was also action packed and very entertaining. Even readers who are not into YA genre will be able to appreciate this series. There is a sense of youthfulness to it without being juvenile or too childish. (less)

I tend to be too picky when it comes to young adult books because they then to annoy the living organism out of me. However, I am quite surprised that I found this series not only good but also fun and enjoyable. Sure, I am not going to deny, it is still a little juvenile for my taste, (view spoiler)[ boy drama and all that shebang (hide spoiler)]. I feel kind of bad because I'm already halfway through the series and I just started being really "addicted" to it. It feels like I wanna know what's next. (less)

Not gonna lie, I teared up in the first or second chapter as well as the last few ones. One of the biggest issues I had with this is the pacing of the story. It was really really slow. I get that it follows a series of characters and their back stories but most of the pages are not as captivating as I wanted it to be. It's not a terrible book but it wasn't amazing either. I guess my favorite thing about it is the idea. It's what got to me. "What if I could talk to a dead loved one?" "What would I have done if I were in their position?" "How would I feel?" Throughout the entire book I kept asking myself the same questions.
I don't exactly know if the divine craze was serious or a mockery. Either way, coming from a very religious country I say the way people reacted are pretty accurate. (News of divine "miracles" are often on TV and people flock to see someone's bleeding statue)
All in all it's not bad, I guess my expectations were just too high. The theme centered faith and religion and even though I'm not a religious person, I can say that I still appreciated the story and its values.

It started of alright, it was not too strong but the story was progressing really well and at a decent pace.
In my honest opinion, it had too much angst. All that unnecessary teenage issues and shit. I thought okay... Okay, be patient. Maybe, the angst will be gone after a few chapters. Bitch, the angst didn't disappear after "a few chapters" they continued on until about halfway through the book, maybe even beyond that.
Another thing that was always up in my face was...
They were always kissing. ALWAYS. Smoochiepoos I get it. They're in love. They're teenagers and the hormones are in the air. And maybe, Ms. Roth wanted to make things moreromantic because they are a couple now. You see for me, romance isn't something that should always be up in my face. They didn't need to kiss for us to know that they are in love, and that they are there for each other. For me, romance are all about subtleties, it's not obvious but you can feel through the pages that they are in love. (That's just my opinion and my preference)
FAST FORWARD TO THE LAST QUARTER OF THE BOOK...
I have never felt like this since The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxset I can see why the two are being compared. It left me confused. Who is the bad guy? Who to trust? Should I hate him/her for what he did? Should I forgive him/her because he/she did something good? My mind was just as boggled as Tris and the others about everything that was happening.
It is understandable that not everyone will like this kind of ending. I think it was brave of Ms. Roth to push through with this. If you wanted the (view spoiler)[HAPPILY EVER AFTER WITH FLOWERS AND RAINBOWS AND CHIRPING BIRDS (hide spoiler)] then this isn't the book for you. I, however, doesn't mind this kind of ending. (view spoiler)[ The type of ending where everybody else got to live in peace while others are left emotionally empty. I was gonna say destroyed but towards the end I clearly saw that they were putting themselves back together. (hide spoiler)]
So, after everything else that happened in the story. I am very much satisfied with how everything turned out. It definitely left me with an empty feeling but it just showed reality, you know? Life isn't just about happily ever after for one or a few people, that's just selfish. It's about the happily ever after of the majority of people. I LOVED IT

This brought me back to my childhood, back then I used to watch the anime version every morning. I love how it's a breath of fresh air but at the same time it made me feel nostalgic.
A Little Princess is a really really good book, one of those things that doesn't really get old no matter how many years passed, it just brings us back to the days when we were younger :)(less)
