The writing was stilted, the characters were flat and uninteresting (even the alien with his tentacle-cock), and the sex scenes were rushed (not surprising, considering the length of this story), boring, mechanical, and so not hot.
There were also a number of errors that should have been caught, especially with this being just a little over 3,000 words. Typos, wrong words, missing words, bad punctuation, etc.
Also, I downloaded the .epub version, and the formatting was all fucked up, which made this a real PITA to read. Oh, and the cover art was missing as well.
Is this the quality I'm to expect from her commercial books? Is this the freebie "hook" that's supposed to encourage me to buy the next book in the series, or any of her other books for that matter? If so, it sure as hell didn't work.
If this was a writer who did free online fiction, and was just testing things out, putting their stories into ebook format, I wouldn't be so harsh. But that's not the case here. This is a published author who has a ton of books for sale. Bad writing/story aside... have some fucking pride in how you present your product to your customers. Get help with the editing/proofing, from friends, family, a writing group, the members at the M/M Romance Group (who would be more than happy to help you, for free). Have those people also check the different formats for any problems. And if all that fails, take some of the money you've earned from your outrageously overpriced books, and fucking hire someone to do it.
I am getting so disgusted with lazy self-pubbed authors who put out sloppy, half-assed work. Make the effort, and take the time to do it right, otherwise you're not getting any of my money.
(Oh, and BTW, the title is also wrong/misleading. No one is "bred by the alien". It's the opposite, actually. The alien is bred by humans.) *sigh*...more

Even though I enjoyed it, it's a bit too short to be truly satisfying, but it still gets a solid 3-stars and a recommendation to those who like dragon/human parings!
I'd really love to see either a sequel/continuation, or a longer, more fleshed-out version. :)...more

My main issue with it is that the author did not fulfill the prompt request. Well, to be more accurate, he/she only got 1 out of 3. PWP? Yes. Dub-con/non-con and mates? No and no...
Alec is an "abducted" diver, but in regards to the sex, there's no dub-con/non-con here. In fact, quite the opposite... Alec is extremely enthusiastic about it all. And while there is some "mating" (sex/fucking) going on, Tente certainly doesn't find himself "a mate" (lifemates, soulmates, bonding, etc.).
So, if you've read the prompt and are expecting a hot, sexy, forced seduction scene with a tentacle monster going "mine, mine, mine!" and making his human mate submit, you're going to be very disappointed.
The whole "Dungeon Master" thing was also really bizarre and jarring. Same with the introduction of the third character, Squalo. It was just so... weird and random/confusing, as was the arguing/fighting between him and Tente.
When I first saw the word count for this story I was sad that it was so short. But after reading it, I'm glad that it was. Any longer and it would have been a DNF for me....more

It's a good start to what will be a longer story, but I do wish the author had slowed the pace down a little bit, and taken the time to flesh it out some more. There's also some very fast insta-love going on, which I'm normally not a big fan of. Although, that tends to go hand-in-hand with shifter stories, so not really a big deal for me in this case. And some of the dialogue towards the end was a bit too sappy/sweet for my tastes, but again, not so bad that it ruined my enjoyment.
However, I did have some serious issues with a couple of things: the moving in together and the sex scene. Unless I missed something, these two characters have only known each other for a few days? And yet Trent invites Bennett (who is essentially a stranger - these two know practically nothing about each other) to move in with him? That's... not very bright. But to do something like that when you have small children in the home? Wow... that's just 10 kinds of stupid, irresponsible, and downright scary. Same thing with the sex scene. It's pretty safe to assume that shifters can't catch or transmit STDs, but at this point in the story, Trent does NOT know that Bennett is a shifter, and yet he doesn't even blink at having unprotected sex with him? Ack! WTF?!
I really wish the author had handled those two aspects of the story differently, because it makes it really hard to like characters who make such horribly bad/dangerous decisions like that... :(
But despite that, there was more to this story that I DID love, so those two issues didn't completely ruin it for me. And I was getting really anxious towards the end, wondering how the hell all of this was going to be wrapped up in just a few more pages. Then we get a scene where the shit is about to hit the fan, and suddenly... cut to black.
What?! Noooo! Holy mother of cliffhangers! No he did not! Well, yes, yes he did. LOL! :P So yeah, be warned. This is not a full/stand-alone story, and the cliffhanger is a real nail-biter.
So, overall... a pretty solid read, especially for a debut story! I'm really looking forward to reading the continuation. Hope it'll be out soon! :) ...more
