Det smukke ydre matcher i høj grad selve historierne indvendigt!...more

I read this in Danish, and the writing style was very annoying. "Den mand, den hus, den vej, den skole." 'Den, den, den,' all the time! I think it would have been much better in English, although I have no idea if that's correct or not. I was told there'd be a lot of humor in this book, but I don't think so. To me, it wasn't humor as much as it was sarcasm. It was really sarcastic, and I loved that.
The illustrations are very dark, but that goes fine with the theme of this book. I wasn't too fond of the drawing style, but it didn't really matter that much, since the story was the important part here.
This book has two storylines; one that takes place during WW2 and one that takes place "now" (1980's). This worked very well for me, and I had a hard time deciding on which one I liked the most.
With another writing and drawing style, this book would probably have gained another star. I'd also have liked to be a bit more invested in the story than I was. I don't know, it just needed that little extra something.
Nice little novella about the Hunter's first case. The one that started it all.

It's not an important story, and it can easily be , but if you're like me and you like 'Robert Hunter, the character,' then this one is a must. It shows the way of his thought process, and helps you understand where he's coming from.
There's not much to the case, but it shows that all cases can't be complicated, which I think is good. There's not much to say, really...

I think this series has reached it's end. It's too much now. It's out of balance now.
Becky used to be this fun and naïve character, yet now all that is left is a pathetic woman. Her problems are no longer just shopping, but has spread into lying and being a drama queen. This is not something I like. It would've been fun if there had been some good acts from Becky as well, but there's not. She's just plain mean now.
However, I still liked the book, it still had a lot of the "old" Becky. I loved how she argues against stealing, that was so her! I also liked how the relations between the different characters played out. Overall, yes, I was entertained by this book and had a good time.
The writing style was good though, and I still liked the correspondance in between the chapters - can I have some more of that, please? I didn't really laugh out loud that much while I read this book, which I think was because I was annoyed with Becky, instead of amused by her.
It's clear in the end that there will be more books in this series, and yes, I will continue reading it, but in my opinion, this series should have ended with book six, Mini Shopaholic....more

It had love, friendship, teenage angst etc. Now, it's important to keep in mind that this book is written for a younger audience, which means that everything is happening very quickly and without too much background information. I, as an adult, would've like for this book to be longer, but I get why it isn't like that, and I think that's a really good thing. When I was 13, I wanted my books to be short and fast paced, and I know I would've loved this one. The writing was smooth and easy, just like it should be.
The storyline was so good. I've never been too fond of mermaids in the first place, so I was really happy to see the way it worked in this book. To me, it was a kind of vampire-mermaid species, which I really liked. That was a really smart way to go around this mermaid-thing.
Well done! I will definitely be reading the next book in this series....more

This is a great book for children as well as adults. It had some well known fairytales, but also some that I wasn't too familiar with - and I finished a book with 101 Grimm fairytales just a few days ago! That was a really nice surprise.
I don't think you should read this book for the fairytales. No, you should read it for the illustrations. They are so, so beautiful - I even found some that I would love to hang on the walls! No, seriously.

This book was all about the magic of books. At least in the first half. I found the second half rather dull and boring, and too focused on a somewhat thin plotline. It focuses a lot on the differences between the physical and digital things, which I thought was interesting, but also a little less relevant than the bookstore itself. I mean, it has the word 'bookstore' in the title, right?
I highlighted several quotes as I read, and I really enjoyed the wit of the book. It had it's funny moments!
I liked the characters, but I also have to say that I got to a point where it got rather confusing to me - could also have to do with me reading this book as a readathone-book.

The writing was really good, and it was very clear to me who was talking when. It was easy to believe in the different voices, which is something I really appreciate about this book. The humour was great as well, I found it to be lighthearted and fun even at darker times.
The storyline was, yes, predictable, but to me that is part of what makes a good chicklitnovel. That being said, I wasn't too sure whether this book would have a happy ending or not. I was glad (and relieved!) to find out that this book had a lot of things going on. Also, it had a roadtrip! This book will be perfect for summer!
As far as the characters go, my oh my, wasn't Marty a dickhead! And so was his mom. And the Fischer boys. The fact that I hated some of the characters so much, proves that the characters were well written. I cared about them - whether I loved or hated them. Tanzie was my favorite character, I saw some of myself in her. She really was a great character!

I didn't find the book to be that good. I liked it a lot, but I'm not sure if I get all the hype about this particular novel. Some of it is sure has to do with me having read more modern literature and therefor found this book to be cliché, but it seems rather unfair to judge the book because of that. Having this feeling while reading this book is actually a good thing; it shows that this book means a lot to modern fiction. I like that a lot.
The storyline was good, it had suspense, which I liked, but it also had a bit too much description if you ask me. Furthermore I felt like the humor in this book was lacking compared to A Study in Scarlet.
The plotline was well thought of, and the book kept me guessing most of the time. I had some ideas as to who the suspect might be, but I wasn't entirely sure until the end.

Really great collection of short stories! The story I liked the most, was the story called 'Karate Chops,' it really made an impression of me and I had a hard time shaking it off again. I also liked the second story a whole lot, I found it rather sarcastic and it made it obvious to me that this is in truth a Danish book! It's kind of hard for me to explain...
Normally when I read a short story collection, there's some of the stories that I don't like. This wasn't the case here. I only found one story who I wasn't too fond of, the rest were really great.
I'm a big fan of the writing in this book. Absolutely perfect!

This is a novel about life, death and everything in between; friendship, love, growing up, finding yourself etc. I thought I had the ending figured out from the beginning, but it turned out I didn't. Not at all. I did not see that one coming. And still, I sit here now, thinking that it was the way it could have ended. It tied up everything.
The writing of this book is what really mattered to me. Normally, I don't really care, but this book was so special that I had to reread quite a few sentences to get to experience their beauty and depth. It was easy to read, but it made me think about life (and death), and so it took me a little while.
This book is so true to life. This book matters to me. The story, the writing, everything. A heartwarming story, that's for sure....more

There was no storyline. None! But isn't it about an Indian man who travels the world? Yeah, it is, but he don't go see anything. He just travels. It's more like it's about an Indian man spending time on an airplane. Really? Wow. So...he must have some deep thoughts then? With all that time in air. Yeah, no, he doesn't. He just sits there.
As you can see, I wasn't a fan of this book. I didn't care one bit about the maincharacter, and since there weren't really any other characters, it was pretty hard to like this novel. Also, what's up with that story within the story? Yeah, no, I really didn't get the point.
So, the writing... Yeah, it was smooth and easy, but the humour didn't really work for me :/
I feel like this is a book that should be laying around in IKEA warehouses for costumers to pick up for free...
Okay, on the bright side, it didn't take me long to read this book, and it did have it's funny moments. Maybe if it were a bit longer it would've been better? I think so. On the other hand, I'm glad it wasn't more than some 250 pages.
It wasn't bad. It really wasn't. It was just not my cup of tea....more
